Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

The mission just got interesting. This new group isn’t anyone I’ve seen in the Anime yet and seems like I SHOULD have been getting to know them more by now.

Just goes to show… sometime’s reading is better. :)

We're finally getting to some real plot. I hope this builds up nicely and we get a few surprises. Interesting how Sasuke has changed since the original series.

Another good volume. Tento wasn’t actually annoying at all, he was a pretty cute character after all. I do think it was nice seeing him learn from Boruto. Kara seems like a cool successor to the Akatsuki in terms of evil villain team, I’m interested to see where it goes.

Perfect volume for 7th-9th graders -- a must purchase -- and longtime Naruto fans will love the nostalgic return of a simple Ninja mission that leaves the complicated politic sub-plots to the background. I was a little worried about this series because the first three volumes had so many references to the Naruto series, but it's now standing on its own.

Boruto befriends the son of Daimyo of fire country named Tentou, at first he is cocky and they make friends fast and then we see him grow into a guy who admire Boruto and then he gets kidnapped and turns out its his butler or so it seems but its Shojoji of some "Mujina" gang but Boruto comes to his rescue and their fight is amazing and well done, the art makes it so static and surreal but then Sarada and Mitsuki come in too, we learn more of the seal on Boruto's hand...an organization named "Kara" is behind it and seems like they will be major players going forward! Great volume with good art and great story increasing Boruto's friends, villains and introduction of Kara!

At this point of the story, boruto is definitely starting to improve more. He now has passion and grit to fulfill his dreams, as he wants to be like sasuke. I think that this story will be different than naruto, as the main character goes rogue and sarada, is going to become the hokage. Boruto is also showing so much improvement with his ignorance, he seems a bit more mature and I think that this is where the story starts showing boruto's journey. The first 3 volumes seem to be a filler, just because of how pointless they were. But the third volume was definitely something I enjoyed, and I'm looking forward to seeing boruto and the other's improvement too!

Story is going smoothly I suppose, but finding many typos in this one. Not sure if they'll do reprints, but the copy I read does say "First Printing, September 2018".

I like this book because it’s shows the next generation and all new things that they didn’t have before. It’s cool that most of the main characters have kids and they are all ninjas like them.

Boruto's declared the story is now "My Story!" and there was much less Naruto in this volume, so what we saw in the first several chapters could maybe be called setup. I guess we'll see!

I kind of like the playing cards angle... (and of course he was looking for Sasuke... like father like son, amirite?? ;) The Boruto stories are much more modern—lots of video games, computers, wireless ear pieces for communicating during missions. Since Naruto was started in the 90s, it makes sense that we'd see some significant differences in Boruto—it definitely changes kind of...the general tone of them? But I don't think that's a bad thing. It makes the series more of its own thing, which I think is probably good. And I'm sure it makes it more appealing to the kids who are starting to read it now.

I appreciate the callbacks in the story moving forward, and the fact that they are just that--callbacks. The story progresses solidly on its own, even without them--and that's a sign of great writing. The plot is getting bigger and bigger, & I'm excited to see more. Also...there are some really shocking/messed up moments in this series and I'm really getting the vibe that this is going to get so much darker and intense as the series progresses. I AM SO EXCITED.

A little more of Boruto's personality shines through in this volume, which digs into his relationship with his father while giving him a new friend in the form of Tento. The camaraderie between Boruto, Mitsuki, and Sarada is also front and centre in the final chapter, and we get a great little fight scene midway through, as well as rumblings of a much larger plotline. Moving along nicely, although the delayed release schedule does slow the momentum a little.

2/5 Stars (%44/100)

After finished reading this I realized I don't remember a single thing about this volume. After the big arc, they decided to put something in between and I don't care any of it. There is a boy named Tento and a big fat dude. The fights are pretty basic and I don't know why people even liked this volume. This whole arc is one big joke except for the ending which is in the next volume. Pretty weak and filler-like volume in my opinion.

Ce nouvel arc promet d'être intéressant. J'étais assez mitigée au début du tome, mais il s'intensifie au fil de pages et est très agréable à lire.
Je l'ai trouvé plus touchant que les 3 premiers tomes.

This many volumes in, and I'm kind of liking this. What I like about the series is not only the art style but some of the characters. Both this and Naruto series do have their moments. Another good volume.

Story wise this has been my favorite volume so far. It remined the most of the old naruto, where the underling moral of the storty is hardwork and saving your team mates matter more then the mission.

In this volume that kid Boruto was working as a body gaurd for was captured. So he had to abandon the mission to go save the daimyo's son. It was a pretty good fight. One of my favorite fights in the manga so far, even more then the momoshiki fight.

Spoiler territory:

The daimyo's son shoud up for himself and helped attack the kidnapper, giving boruto a change to hit him with Rasengan. Then the mark from momoshiki acts up. Inhibiting Boruto from fight anymore. That is when Sarada and Mitsuki show up to assist.

Which I kinda liked, most manga and anime have the protagonist defeat the enemy using some secret hidden ability when they are pushed to thier limit. So I liked that it was Sarada and Mitsuki who came to Boruto's rescue when he needed it. Even thought it ment forgeting the mission on the hunge that he was in danger. I also liked he told someone what he was doing before he took off. Boruto display alot more common sense then Naruto ever did in this type of situation. Rather then running to confront the bad guy right away he told Sarada what he was doing. So she and Mitsuki where there to rescue him when he needed it.

This volune was also the first memetion of Kara the villian group for this manga. It's name was reveled during the interogartion sceen with the kidnapper. It seems soon Sasuke will be looking into Kara because of the information he got from the kidnapper. Which is anther reason I am glad Boruto when to Sasuke with his problem with the mark on his palm.

The only issue I had with this volume was how Sarada was visually displayed in chapter 13, she was far too over sexualized. It was three different instance in the chapter where this was the case. The coverart for the chapter, the sceen where Sarada is practing in her underwear, and when she chews on her glasses after Boruto leaves. It was all just alittle too weird and seemed out of charater and out of the realm for behavior of a child.

Overall this has been the volume been When one I liked the most. Good plot, good action and it remined me of old naruto. I am actually starting ti get excited for the future plot with Boruto and Kara.

Thus far, volume 4 is the best. Keeping the story centered and focused on Boruto having learned from his mistakes and seeing a character in the same life situation as him, regarding how their dad views them, was great. Tento is a fun character and different from other series in their protrayal of the rich kid. By not being a spoiled brat acting haughty and mighty and disrespectful of others, Tento has set himself apart and remains a breath of fresh air in the typical path that characters before him set.

Boruto is incredibly fun this volume and expressive and the cameos from his friends as well as Konohamaru-onii-chan are great.

The tease of the larger plot is nice and keeps my interest high.

I liked this volume.

As usual there were no extras beyond the debatable Shinobi information stats (Konohamaru-onii-chan is really only 10 points more intelligent than the average genin? what lol) nestled between each chapter. The authors forward were much longer than usual. I like it.

Arc 2: Mujina Bandits

- A battle occurs. Boruto got the upperhand and defeats Shojoji. Shojoji still can stand. Boruto have no strength left. Suddenly, his mark on his right palm reacted. A new pattern shows.
- Shojoji seems like to know about the seal. Sarada and Mitsuki come to help Boruto. Shojoji defeated and being detained.
- Ibiki, Sai and Sasuke interrogated Shojoji about the seal.
- Kara make their first appearance.

This was like the beginning of the Naruto series where they go on irrelevant missions just so the story can be longer. Let’s get back to the Otsutsukis please.

The only thing interesting in this was Baruto’s mark acting up and paralyzing him in some way. From that, we learned there’s an organization called Kara, The Husk. They have knowledge of what Boruto’s mark is and their leader, Lord Jigen, has something like it on his chin. There were 6 members total at some sort of meeting place. We saw them staring at a bulletin board with drawings of all shapes of marks. Although we didn’t see Boruto’s up there.

The criminal captured at the end said the marks are nothing like those of Orochimaru’s curse marks.

Kara must have information about the Otsutsukis.
