There's not much to add to my bio, I'm pretty boring...LOL. My favorite thing is to read and, last year, I decided to trade in some of those reading hours and try my hand at writing. The experience has been one of the best things I could have ever embarked upon. It's turned into a hobby that is fun and thoroughly enjoyable. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm spending time with my family or friends.

Well...

I bought this series because I read the next gen novel and liked it. I immediately started on this and wish that I hadn’t: I loved this first book don’t get me wrong. But that means two in a row of really playable aloha holes so I got a little two comfortable.
Then book two of this series goes a little weird with the ménage breaking up and I start to scratch my head... There was just a gross oversimplification of how their breakup would go. Suddenly we are supposed to believe that Deke and Rozelyn don’t see each other that way anymore? After a year of sleeping together constantly, and him with no other girls? I guess we file that under suspension of disbelief.
Onto book 3. So suddenly I start to really realize I don’t know this author at all. Because the plot just goes sideways and they things I loved about the first few books just all blows up in my face. I LOVED the lack other woman drama. I get so tired of that, it’s one of the reasons I tried to lol the 2nd book at all. But nope, this book is nothing but other woman drama. Deke and Delaney have went to school for four years, he has never really noticed her. He sees her watching him get a blowjob at a party. Then because of that adorable connection he chases her down while his d$cks still wet and tells her right then that she is his. Romantic right? So he starts demanded she be his and throwing his “love” out there, but refuses to discuss Rozeln (like, he strait puts her in her place, letting her know that Rozelyn is more important). Also he does not care that she has the right to this information. He spent a year screwing the girl with no protection, and now is screwing Delaney with no protection. He doesn’t care about the love of his life’s peace of mind though, just wouldn’t want to cause poor “Linnie” (that’s the cute little pet name name that only he now calls his ex Rozelyn, who isn’t supposed to be an ex just his friends girlfriend but ok) Then we get Delaneys best friend Ava in the mix. She is apparently the school bicycle and both Ramsey and Liam have taken that ride a few times. She is staying around to be a member of the group for the long hall, so two characters that I previously like now look like fools. They are now both forced to constantly hang around some slutty girl the love of their life has screwed, or to act like the have no self confidence. That’s a rough place to be and I just cannot understand how it added to the plot. I’ll cone back to that later... So then Deke screws up worse than any others. Not only did his relationship start with her seeing him with another girl, after her ex posts a two year old picture he immediately runs to the same girl to screw her. He didn’t but only because the heroine showed up, he destroyed her in front of everyone and he couldn’t take the disgusted looks of Rozelyn and Emerson. So basically everything I loved about this authors writing disappears in this book. And she did the number one thing I hate when authors do, that is mess with a completed story or HEA. She completely changed the first two books HEA by adding in Ava. Forcing these two strong girls into a lifelong friendship with a slutty chick their husband used to screw... That changes the narrative a bit for me. What made me willing to forgive these alohaholes for the awful crap they did (and it was awful) was that at least their was no other woman drama. I’ll forgive just about anything if it’s written well, makes sense and the hero is loyal. All of that disappears with this book. All of it. Adding in all of these exes with these possessive characters makes no sense. Ramsey and Liam both look way less forgivable when you add in being forced to be friends with their leftovers. Deke is pretty close to unforgivable (I mean the rest was bed enough but telling her to bill him for the abortion if she is having his kid was a little much) anyway but the subtle way he was still all about Rozelyn (or Linnie, I should say) the entire book I killed the peace I was able to make with their situation at the end of the last book.
I did not even start Avas book. I have no desire too. Most of the books I read aren’t about virgins, a heroine doesn’t have to be, but there is too much history here. I can’t force myself to like her. Not only is she is he exact kind of basic slutty chick that they were thankful their girls weren’t in the previous books (so it makes no sees to the plot) she is just cheap drama. Blaming a woman for being insecure if she doesn’t want to hang around her souses old fu$&buddy (especially when she was a virgin) makes zero sense. We have a group of 4 couples, and Ava in this mix. If you look at it like a sex Ed poster, they’ve all basically slept together. 3 were virgins, and 4 are all slightly psychotic (and possessive) sorry, but those ingredients don’t join together to form a cohesive life. Not only did Ava ruin this series for , it is affecting whether I want to read the next generation any more. I wish I hadn’t went back.

***Edited to add: I don’t have the patience re write my entire review to now reflect why I’ll probably never read this author again. But here is a quick note. I decided to skim Avas book to see if I wanted to keep reading the next generation, and here is now my number one pet peeve. Repeat after me (I am going to say this really loudly for the authors in the back)... SURVIVORS OF MOLESTATION AND RAPE ARE NOT ALL BROKEN LITTLE DOLLS WHO HAVE NO SELF RESPECT AND FEEL LIKE THEY NEED TO LET EVERY MAN HAVE ACCESS TO THEUR BODY. If you can’t do your own research and need some help on this topic, feel free to reach out to actual survivors. I know a lot of survivors. I am one. From something not to far out of the realm of what happened to Ava, I was even the same age. Not only am I not like that, but ever have been, out all of the survivors I know only 1 is anything like Ava. 1, and even she isn’t as bad as Ava is described as being. I know many women who are comfortable sleeping around, and several of them I know well enough some background. No one stands out as this being their background. Sometimes women just like sex and that’s ok. If that’s what you are going for embrace it, and self responsibility. I’d rather see that than this any day.
Also, and this is just bad writing, I get that these alpha characters all like rough sex. But when the “hero” has known the heroine only two days and just found out that she was raped by her Moms rich husband when she was nine, you might want to use common freaking sense in their (first) sex scene. In no way shape or form would it ever be ok, or even just not disgusting, for him to say to this girl that he barely knows who was basically sold and then also slept around a lot and has just confronted this for the very first time and confronted in her friend, anything like “there’s a good little slut” or “I’m going to fuck you like the little whore you are” etc. Just no. Everyone has their kinks and I don’t judge when it’s between consenting adults who know what each other likes. But I don’t care how much the author says the characters likes this. It makes no sense that she’d be into it in this day, abs even if she was the fact that this 18 year old kid just spouted all of this on their first time having no way to know that about her just makes him look like a giant douche bag. Her entire breakdown just happened over her shame, so I’d love to know how these made sense for even a second to this author??!?!?

The only thing this series was missing from my "perfect book" is an unplanned pregnancy! Otherwise it checks all my boxes...dark, alpha, not a weak female lead, and retribution to those who hurt their loves...

Was this over the top? yep..and I loved it!

Sure, there were a couple of typo's but they were easy to read past, the author does tell us this in her intro...The flow was nice, but once I hit the 3rd story, I could tell her pattern..would have been nice with a little more of a shake up with Delaney and Deke.

When facing the enemy first came out i read it in one sitting and finished it and msged the author straight away letting her know how much i adored this book and i went on to read all her books and loved every one of them but this is still my all time favourite. So when the boxed set came out i knew i had to get it and so glad that i did. I loved reading facing the enemy all over again, and then getting Roselyn and liams story in engaging the enemy and then Deke and Delaneys story in Batting the enemy and then Ace and Ava's story in Provoking the enemy and then have it all beautifully concluded in Leaving the enemy. I loved falling in love with the girls as much as the possesive alpha boys. I always thought the boys couldnt be as bad as Ramsey in the possessive side but they all gave him a run for this money. If you enjoy the truely possessive alpha kind of man that will do anything to get what he wants that will do anything to protect what is his and also enjoy the girl being just as fiesty then this is your series, i loved it so much cannot wait to see what she writes next...

Facing the Enemy
Ramsey Reed and Emerson Andrews are fucked up at best. While Ramsey is a psychopath, Emerson is in love with him. And when I say psychopath he a complete and utter psycho. Like should be locked up. These two both probably need some therapy. But gah, did I love them. I love when the asshole falls to his feet for a girl and Ramsey does just that. Emerson isn't weak by any means but she doesn't stand a chance against Ramsey. The errors in this book were too much to overlook and that's why this book is only 4 star read.

Engaging the Enemy
I loved the plot, the characters, the story, it was all so good. The glaring errors in this book are too much to look past. I downloaded The Enemy box set so I paid for all the books in the series and read them. Engaging the Enemy hooked me from start to finish but just the over the top number of errors is ridiculous.

Battling the Enemy
I loved the plot, the characters, the story, it was all so good. The glaring errors in this book are too much to look past. I downloaded The Enemy box set so I paid for all the books in the series and read them. Battling the Enemy hooked me from start to finish but just the over the top number of errors is ridiculous.

Provoking the Enemy
I needed Ava's back story. I knew there was a reason she acted the way she did and I was spot on with what I thought. However, I didn't love Provoking the Enemy it was definitely a let down I feel like compared to the others. I wish Ava's story would have had more to it. While the characters were great. Everyone from the series was there, it was just missing something that made me say wow.

Loving the Enemy
I love Ramsey and Emerson! I loved them and their crazy ways in Facing the Enemy and love them now. Loving the Enemy is Ramsey and Emerson's anniversary and he's surprising her with a real wedding. Ramsey Reed is scary as hell and the poor wedding planner who has to deal with him. All of their friends know and help. This look into their lives 20 years later is great.

Sweet Baby Jesus!

I just completed this amazing series and I absolutely loved it. M.E Clayton has a truly unique and refreshing writing style to the genre that tends to be redundant more often then not. I loved the duo points of view and it's almost as if the stories are written to point out the glaringly obvious plot holes that are continuously overlooked by others who have delved into this particular genre. The main men are openly sociopaths and the heroines of the series are not the typical weak minded dickmatized bimbos . I adored how the series included follow-up's of their lives from 10 and then 20 years down the line. I'm also really impressed with the way the author wasn't afraid to take her characters into a darker direction and still have the ability to bring light and love to it. With all the great things I was loving , there was only one thing that I can think of to say that was a negative and even that wasn't going to be a reason to detour me from the 5 star 🌟 rating and loving the series. I noticed that there was quite a few spelling errors and a few spots where there were repeat phrases. If you have the opportunity to read the series, please don't let it discourage you from experiencing the idea of what was trying to be conveyed.

Amazing series!

This series was phenomenal!!! Like Ms. Clayton says in her final words, this series is total fiction yet the things that happen to the characters can totally happen and there is always someone to help somewhere. With that said this is an awesome series. Reading about each couple, how they deal with each other, their pasts, the things that define them all and the fierce love for each other, is truly one for the books... These books for sure. These books will take you on a rollercoaster of some serious emotions, from laughter to tears and everything in between. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Thank you Ms. Clayton for writing such beautiful stories.

5* You're never leaving me Stars

I am so in love with the way Ramsey loves Emerson. I love all these couples but Ramsey and Emerson will always have my heart. That said Ace and Ava tore me up and I fell for them so fast. I am so glad you brought them into the group. Now I eagerly await seeing their kids stories one day.

What's not to love!!

The simple fact that the author never planned to write a series about these couples is still shocking to me. She only planned for Ramsey and Emerson's story. I'm so glad the fans encouraged her to do this because now I have this fantastic series as a boxset. Every couple was dark, intense, sweet, fierce, romantic (at times)and down right possessive. You will love these heriones because they are not to be trifled with.

This series is what happens when an author has one mediocre idea and then tries to expand it into a series. This is the epitome of rinse repeat. In the case of book 3 almost exactly! Deke and Delaney’s story plays out exactly as Emerson and Remy’s story did. Complete with saboteur, revenge plot, rape apology followed by grovelling public apology.

So two stars are for the first book. The other two are just cookie cutter. Ironic when it’s a series about cookie cutter rich kids. The last I abandoned because, like an IQ test, I saw the pattern. That said, this isn’t a dark romance. It’s just a bunch of misogynistic assholes with preposterous power and ineffectual parents. Dark romances are, typically, very clever as they’re like Stockholm Syndrome for the reader; you end up liking someone you really shouldn’t. Nobody is likeable in these books.

And will someone please, please, please teach Southern Americans that drug is not the past tense of drag. How much of an idiot do you have to be to not spot how problematic sentences like this are...

“After I had drugged her back into the café Monday evening”

It took me a good while to work out a roofie plot hadn't been glossed over. I was just dealing with epic illiteracy.

This series. I have no words. The bully romance is the highest, and its dark in a lot of areas, but also so consuming in this darkness.
There are definately some scenes I should not have liked, but I loved teh books individually and even as a series.

Book 1 - Ramsey and Emerson - Facing the Enemy
Book 2 - Liam and Roselyn - Engaging the Enemy
Book 3 - Deke and Delaney - Battling the Enemy
Book 4 - Ava and Ace - Provoking the Enemy
Book 5 - Ramsey and Emerson - Loving the Enemy

👍👍

I fell in love with Emerson and Ramsey and thought it was only going to be a standalone. I was thrilled when I found not only was it a series but it was completed. I loved every single book and the whole series was everything I hoped for and more!
