~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~ Honestly, I have been in a bit of a "blah" mood with books lately. Maybe not blah, but I seem to be extra picky lately and I am finding that the littlest of things have been annoying me. So I wasn't all that gung-ho to read this one. Especially not with the whole "ONS...heroine runs...they meet up again months later" setup. That usually means one or both end up having sex with other people in the interim. But...SURPRISE...I ended up enjoying this one quite a lot.
It was well written. The pace was OK. One of my issues was that I found the beginning a little slow. It felt like the whole ONS thing (and the aftermath) was dragged out a bit too long when all I wanted was to get to the reunited part of the book. It literally takes 30% of the book to get to that point. I felt like the author could have condensed that 30% a bit and had these two back together sooner. That said, the plot was still engaging enough (especially after the 30% mark) that I never felt the need to skim. I wouldn't say this one had as much suspense as the previous book. There is some court case stuff, but this couple's "relationship" is more the focus. Last, it was all wrapped up in an OK happy for now ending.
~HERO~ COLE...Cole I LOVED. He was really the star of this book. He was hot. He was alpha. He wasn't a manwhore. He was sweet. He was an excellent lawyer. He had the patience of a saint with Lori <-- quite frankly I would have dropped kicked her a$$ five minutes after meeting her. He was great hero material.
~HEROINE~ LORI...Lori was the second issue I had with this one. I just didn't like her...AT ALL. I am starting to see a pattern when it comes to this author's books and heroines, mostly, I never love them. Again we have an annoying heroine that would rather cut her nose off to spite her face instead of accepting help. She was judgy towards Cole because he had money. I mean the whole not wanting him to see her apartment was so juvenile. She was quick to jump to conclusions about OW. I really don't have anything positive to say about her. She had a shitty attitude that continued for 90% of the book.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~ This one had a few excellent secondary characters. Cat and Reese are in it a bit. Some of the Walker brothers, and a few new faces. All of them added some good extra depth to the story.
~HEAT LEVEL~ Lowish. surprisingly, I didn't find this one all that spicy. There were (maybe) three or four sex scenes that were suitably hot. Not much in the way of kink, which surprised me after the spanking during the ONS.
~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~ Medium. Most of the angst came from the heroine and her annoying attitude and need to push the hero away. Neither were virgins. Neither slept with other people during their separation. There wasn't really any OW or OM drama per se. There was a little scene with her ex and the heroine sees a woman approach the hero at a bar and sit down next to him. Of course, she thinks the worst (roll eyes). Same for later in the book when she AGAIN jumps to conclusions. Lord this heroine annoyed me (lol).
~IN THE END~ I enjoyed it for the most part. I really do enjoy this author's writing and her heroes. Her heroines...not so much. Hence why this is rated 4-Stars and not higher. I also thought the beginning was stretched out a bit too much. Both main characters spend a lot of time apart during it and I just felt like the author could have tightened up the plot a bit. That said, a lot of people will love this one (as they should). It will be "safe" for the uber picky peeps (to which I seem to be lately). Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two thumbs up.
I can't tell you how much I adore finding heroes who are all in from the start! I'm a big fan of man chases woman scenarios. They aren't as easy to find as you would think in contemporary romance.
Cole doesn't profess his love at first site but you know from their first meeting that he is ensnared by Lori. She's a game changer for him. I also love that despite this, the author doesn't make them automatically a couple. There is struggle to the new feelings they are both experiencing as well as adjusting to how their lives will change.
I adored Cole and as much as I liked Lori's strong character, she did get in her own way a lot with him. This is where the Cinderella in the title comes in. Cole is a very successful lawyer who also comes from family money. Lori was unable to finish law school due to her father passing and her mother having a stroke. They have bills upon bills that have kept Lori from returning to law school.
This is where Lori's strong character gets in her way. All she sees is that Cole and her come from different worlds. She wants him but she also needs to learn that his need for her will show in the way he wants to take care of her. It's a battle she will have to fight within herself and with him.
As much as I love this couple, I also love watching them work together on Cole's cases. It made for a fast paced story filled with exciting drama that wasn't all about relationship drama. You also get to see some fo the Walker security men in this book. I'm a fan and I want more! ARC provided by Author.
I want to make sure you understand that I'm a huge fan of LRJ. HUGE!! She's written and created some of my most favorite of all book boyfriends. They're alpha and sophisticated and charming and intelligent and sexy and despite many of them not being immediately open to love, the way they fall is always a thing of beauty. Cole Brooks, the male protagonist in Dirty Rich Cinderella Story was absolutely no exception. I loved how he felt an immediate connection to Lori and didn't really fight it. I loved how protective he was of her and how much he wanted to take care of her. So. Freaking. Sweet.
But Cole is where my love affair with this story ends.
I didn't like Lori. Actually, my unfiltered opinion of her was worse than not liking her. I don't hate anyone, but I came pretty close when it came to her. She was an entitled broke chick, with a condescending and judgmental attitude, and didn't know when to count her blessings.
✦ she freaked because the man wanted more ✦ she freaked because the man wanted to wipe out her debt ✦ she freaked because he was worried about her safety and wanted to provide her with a safe environment ✦ she freaked because he wanted to spoil her ✦ she freaked because he paid her mother's exorbitant medical bills ✦ she freaked because the man saw her struggling and wanted to ease her load ✦ she freaked because the man was so freaking awesome ✦ she freaked because she didn't deserve all of these gifts!!
Lori had me skimming pages. Lori had me losing interest. Lori made this my least favorite LRJ book of all time. This breaks my heart :(
The writing was superb. The plot was more than engaging. And Cole was the epitome of what is a good man. I wish he didn't have to run after her so hard. I wish he didn't have to constantly defend his actions when they were so very kind. I wish his happiness wasn't so hard to get.

Dirty Rich Cinderella Story is the second book in Lisa Renee Jones’ Dirty Rich series. Lori and Cole’s story is the first book I have read by this author, and it can absolutely be read as a standalone.
That-said Cat and Reese (Book one - Dirty Rich One Night Stand) play quite a large part as secondary characters in this one, so I will be looking to read it sometime soon.
Sometimes the right people meet at the wrong time…
And that is certainly the case for this couple, after a one night stand leaves lasting memories with them both, but no real hope in seeing each other again due to the fact they live in different cities (not for the want of trying). But Lori is in for a shock, because just a few months down the line and Cole is in New York permanently, and as it turns out, he is also the best friend of one of her closest friends, as well as her new boss.
This should feel strange. I’m in the office of a man who I slept with… who I thought was a manwhore, and now is my boss.
I love nothing more than a bit of the forbidden in my romance, and the boss/intern aspect of this story did give it added depth, but it was more the disparity in their lifestyles that played the main part in its telling for me, especially due to the fact it created all sorts of obstacles in Lori’s mind in regards to their relationship because of it. Cole from the offset was the one pushing for more, and it was nice to see that for once it was the female half of the partnership holding back.
"You make me crazy, you make me do things I wouldn’t do with anyone else…"
You get to understand why, the more you get to know them, all the while the chemistry keeps bubbling, and their need to each other growing. And with every new obstacle Lori puts in their way, Cole just keeps smashing them down.
For a first read, this was a book that in the main I enjoyed, and I would absolutely look to read more from Lisa Renee Jones in the future. That-said I did find both characters inner monologues for most of the book to be extremely long, rambling and often repetitive, there were many points where two sentences, rather than two lengthy paragraphs would have done the trick just as well. I think it would have also helped the overall pace of the story, because there were parts when they both just kept going over and over the same things in their heads, and all I had in mine was 'for Gods sake, get on with it!' I also discovered I am not a fan of an author using a) & b) lists in an inner thought process either, but again this might be because it felt like it happened quite a lot, and added to the lulling of pace because of the aforementioned it was just another niggle to add to the small pile.
This isn’t over… it’s only just begun.
Overall a really good introduction to a new-to-me author, I hope to have the opportunity to read more from her in the future.

I love any kind of romance that even suggests it has a bit of a fairy tale remaking so I was super excited to read Dirty Rich Cinderella Story. It was everything I wanted and so much more!
Lori’s family has had some bad times and as a result she is carrying a heavy financial burden. With her goals of finishing law school put on hold, she works several jobs just to pay off her family’s debt and keep her mother and her above water. When a run in, and then another meeting, with a handsome stranger promises one night of forgetting everything, she debates the wisdom of a one night stand. Her future reputation in law could be at stake but this man is from out of town and this is New York City. Surely they’ve used up all the odds of running in to one another again.
Cole was immediately attracted by the woman that ran smack dab into him in the middle of a busy sidewalk. When he sees her again he immediately makes his move. He’s never felt this way towards anyone before and it’s imperative that he lays his claim on Lori before he loses her again. However, his plan fails spectacularly when the next morning he is alone with nothing but a note.
I loved Cole so much! He was such a good guy and he knew from the beginning that Lori was meant to be in his life. I loved how he obsessed about her, and once he found her again he was determined to have her in his life in a very personal manner. He recognized her needs sometimes before she did and was quick to make sure he met them. Those needs often were of an emotional sort and left him wanting to cling to Lori tight and yet unable to do so for fear of losing her.
Lori was determined to be completely independent. She had seen what relying on a man for your every need could do. Even as she yields to her desire for Cole, she refuses to accept any form of help from him. Everything revolved around her being able to stand on equal footing with him. Admittedly, she was quite a mess at times but I loved her more for all her broken ways of thinking.
This was a wonderful story filled with romance amidst a woman’s stand for independence, when all along she needed to simply accept that love makes the difference between carelessly using someone and allowing them to support you in your time of need. Lori’s journey to that understanding was filled with so many incredible moments where Cole’s affections shined.
This is a well-paced read with wonderful secondary characters that I really enjoyed. The heat level was high and appropriate for the story, the chemistry between these two sizzling. The ending wrapped everything up in a beautiful and heartwarming epilogue that left me grinning crazily. And you know, I do love a happy ending to all my fairy tales!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It’s been too long, Lisa. Too long in between the last installment in this series and this book. You torture me so.
But have no fear my dear friends. This is definitely a standalone story. But if you follow the authors books, you will often see characters pop in from other series and interact, intertwine, and support her stories. It makes you feel like you truly are a part of her books.
This is the story of Cole and Lori. Mainly Cole because, hey, I’m a sucker for a hot, sexy, delicious hunk of a man. And this author does no wrong when it comes to developing these steamy stories and her hot leading man.
And hot it is. I’m a sucker, just like Lori. How can you resist a guy like Cole? So why bother?
The story has everything you look for in a beautifully written chick-lit style contemporary romance. The sexy man, a perfectly developed leading lady to support him, a little angst and drama, and a whole lot of lovin that is off the charts.
If you’re looking for your Prince Charming, you have to check out this Cinderella story. Another winner by Lisa Renée Jones. This lady is on fire. I just can’t get enough.
As much as I enjoyed reading Cole and Lori's sexy romance, I couldn't help but wince that more than halfway through the story, the pace suddenly turned too fast that made some scenarios clipped and rushed. Yes, this all started from a one-night stand that ultimately led to being so much more. I had a great time enjoying the sizzling chemistry between the two main protagonists, being sexy as hell in suits and during courtroom sessions.
This was not instant love, which is good... but the developing events turned out to be predictable, but not enough for me to stop reading the book. Like as I've said, I had a great time reading the Dirty Rich Cinderella Story. However, I may have been a bit bummed out that despite the heroine has acquired outstanding scholastic achievements and deserves to be an intern and associate of the firm while determined to overcome the hurdle of financial struggles, she immediately got caught up with her growing feelings for him and I felt like her judgment got clouded due to her relationship with Cole Brooks. She may gotten whiny and annoying at some point- but not enough for me to hate her. Well, I really liked her in the beginning; now it's just... I can stand her character enough to finish the book.
The steamy scenes were... hot damn, if they can light up courtrooms- consider it done for bedrooms as well. (and any possible surface at their disposal) Crackling chemistry, professionally and in an intimate manner.
Moreover, did this have to be a short story? It felt like considerably short compared to the usual length in general and I swear I could have given a higher rating if the story wasn't rushed at all. I would've prefer to see more development, maybe a bit of more complications with the diva's case or even an issue of leaked information with Cole's trusted secretary back in France or maybe a more neck and neck confrontations between the law enforcement office against Cole's firm. To sum it up, I wanted more courtroom debates, sessions and law-related scenes and could've lessen on the two leading character's dilemma of actually being more than just fuck buddies. (Not that I'm complaining, but it would've balanced out more if there were less of these two conflicted with trust and going forward with their relationship)
Nevertheless, I like this book. I'll still recommend it. I'm just sad that I did not get the same overall impact of the story as much as most readers did. On a lighter note, there are more books from this author to choose from, hopefully, this won't be the last I'll get the chance to indulge.
Audible version Story --- 4 hate-it-when-my-one-night-stand-ends-up-being-my-new-boss stars Performers --- 4 mixed bag stars (female performer = 5; male performer = 3)
Re the story --- Lori Havens has recently experienced a change of fortune, and not the good kind. Her father passed away about a year ago leaving her and her mother with debt he racked up at a shady gambling establishment that they had no idea he was frequenting, and now his debt becomes their debt. Add to that her mother's stroke a few months ago, and they also have beaucoup de hospital bills on top of it. Lori had to leave her dream law school life at Stanford about 9 months shy of completion to come back home to New York City to care for her mother and find a way to pay off the money they owe, and she is currently working 4 jobs to pay to keep their heads above water in the shabby closet apartment they can barely afford. One of the jobs she actually enjoys is working with her friend Cat (h of book 1 in this series), an attorney who writes a syndicated legal column as well as true crime books. Lori is her editor and critic, and they have become fast friends. One morning when leaving Cat's apartment on her way to one of her other jobs at a coffee shop, Lori runs into a solid wall... of muscle and hunky goodness. As her papers scatter, the handsome stranger helps her collect them, and he asks her for coffee. She refuses because 1 - she has to get to work; and 2 - she has no time for trouble like this man surely is. Before Cole Brooks can demand more information from this beautiful stranger who tells him the word he seldom hears, she is gone. While he wishes he could come back to this corner the next day for another shot, he is needed back home (Houston, TX) to represent a client in a high-profile case. But when he spots his mystery woman at the same restaurant/bar where he is grabbing a drink with a colleague, he knows he has to make his move.
Lori is shocked to see Cole again, but she has regretted saying goodbye too quickly to him that morning. It has been a long time since she has gotten some solid action, so she decides to throw caution to the wind and indulge in a one-night stand with the understanding that that is all it will ever be. Cole agrees, though he knows he vows to himself that he will pursue her despite her reluctance as he has never been so drawn to a woman before like he is to this one. Their night of passion is amazing, but when he exits the shower the next morning, the woman he left sleeping is gone... with only a note containing her first name. Cole is determined to find her, and convinced from their high-level conversations about the legal system, he is sure she is an attorney, so he has his assistant search all NYC attorneys with the first name "Lori." When none of them turn out to be HIS Lori, he is frustrated, but since he is in the process of moving to NYC to partner with one of his good friends from law school, he knows he will have another chance to find his mystery lady soon enough.
While Lori is convinced that she needs to stick to her one-night rule with Cole, she can't help but think of him often and relive their passionate encounter. But then Lori's fate takes another turn: this one for the better! Cat's super dreamy hubby (Reese, the H of book 1), a high-powered attorney and partner of a top criminal law firm in NYC, recognizes the talent and potential Lori possesses, so he recommends her for a distinguished internship program that would not only allow her to complete law school but would also provide a $100,000 stipend. Lori is over the moon about the possibility, but she knows the competition will be fierce, so she has not gotten her hopes up. When she is awarded the role, Reese recommends that since he knows her somewhat personally, she should work with his new partner, and when said partner walks through the door.... it's (of course) none other than Cole. Lori cannot afford to take a misstep when so much is on the line for her and for her mother with this opportunity; there is no way she can sleep with the boss and feel that she earned the internship on her own merit. Cole doesn't see a problem as "co-workers with benefits" since he plans to push Lori in both their professional and personal lives. Will Lori be able to separate the work life from the sex life? Can she trust Cole to follow through with helping her professionally if things don't work out personally? What about the vast difference between them financially --- can she really live with being his Cinderella when she wants to earn her own way so badly?
What I liked: --- Lori was not the "let the man fix all my problems" kind of h - she was determined to make it on her own merit and her own dime --- Cole was the man in charge, knows what he wants and goes after it kind of H.... drool --- The story was interesting and kept me tuned in --- STEAMY goodness galore
What I didn't like as much: --- Lori was a little too stubborn at times and got in her own way which was frustrating (recurring theme of "I don't want your money" got a little old) --- Little things irritated me (for example, a very small "spoiler" ... the night that they agree to have a one night stand, Cole says he only has 1 condom, but he has been a long-term guest at the penthouse of one of the nicest hotels in NYC... the hotel staff would bring him a bushel of condoms if he merely hinted at needing some when he placed an order for a little post-coital room service)
Re the Audible version --- I rarely listen to books on tape because the actor voices annoy me most of the time, but I have found that when the story is a dual POV, having a male and female performer for each part makes it at least tolerable. The female actor did a really good job, even when she was performing the male voices; the male actor drove me crazy when he was doing the female voices, especially the h's because he would tail off at the end of the sentences after going up a few notches making everything she said sound like either a question or a whine. Ugh. Otherwise, it was a good one to listen to on Audible.
Overall, it was a very steamy, fun story with likeable main characters, an interesting plot line, and it left me looking forward to reading (or listening to!) their follow-up honeymoon story!
Plot --- 4/5 Main Characters --- 4/5 Supporting Cast --- 4/5 Steam Level* --- 4/5 Violence --- none Language --- liberal use of the f word POV --- Dual
*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild; 2/5 - sensual but nothing descriptive; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere; 4/5 - yes please! ; 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all
Lori had 9 months left in law school but had to drop out due to her mom having stroke and now having to work 3 jobs to pay the bills, gambling debt and hospital bills that their dad left them with after he passed away. After leaving her friend Cat Summer house one night going to another job distracted she ran into a sexy stranger, Mister tall dark and handsome. He ask for my name and a date and I turned him down, however the next day we ended up at the same bar by coincidence. Cole Brooks is the sexy strange he tells Lori he leaving the next morning and had only 1 night and Lori wanted Cole only for that night no more. No strings, no names, nothing personal just sex. Cole agrees and take Lori to his penthouse hotel. Cole convinces Lori to stay the night after he gave her the best night of her life. After Coles morning shower he returned and Lori was gone and now he has no way to contact her or a last name or anything just she is a lawyer in NYC. Cole calls his assistant in TX and ask her to search for Lori in the NYC database for lawyers hoping he can find her that way.
A few months has past no luck with finding Lori and now Cole is back in NYC he has merged with a firm with Reese Summer, Cat's husband. Now Lori has landed a new job as an intern and a scholarship with only 9 months left of school life couldn't be better, until her first day of work and she learns who the new partner and her new boss is.
This is second in a series and both Cat and Reese are frequently present in this story so I highly recommend reading these in order.
This started off well, I think. I liked Lori and Cole both and I really enjoyed their first meeting. Yeah, it's pretty much a chapters-long sex scene, but Jones puts a lot of emotional development into their interactions, too. It was very well-done and that intrigued me as they then diverge for weeks (and maybe another quarter of the story). I enjoyed my time with both protagonists during that time and seeing them converge was excellent use of anticipation. I particularly liked two things for this part.
First, a minor spoiler and I'd hate to remove the impact of experiencing this as a reader, but I just loved the anti-pet-peeve when . And I really liked how this highlighted important relationships while we were at it.
Second, I liked how they worked through a misperception together by talking things through. Cole initiates the adulting, but Lori contributes, too and I really loved seeing them work through things, even when that seems hard. Jones does a good job with having them act like actual adults who actually talk to one another, even with Lori's idiocy that I'm getting to.
Two things tanked this for me, though the second is minor when placed against the first. The first being Lori's hyper-class-conscious hangup about Cole being rich and successful and her, well, not. And since they're American, we're really talking about money. Like she couldn't possibly be with him unless she were as rich and as successful as he is. She spent way, way too long with this irrational hangup when everything she knew about Cole should have told her clear and plain that he just wasn't the kind of guy who would treat her as her fears projected. I really felt for Cole and kind of wanted him to dump her until she has time to work through this with a therapist or something. Because frankly, as big as her hangup was, I don't think it's enough for her to just become successful, too. It nears psychosis, is what I'm saying, and I spent much of the back half of the novel wishing she'd find a competent therapist and get treatment. It just wasn't normal...
The second thing is more environmental and was present in the first book, but less pronounced (because they only dealt with a single case). The lawfirm central to these stories has a policy that they "only represent innocent clients". It's a fetish for them and they take great moral glee in this policy. And frankly, that bugs the crap out of me. It's not just the moral preening, though that's obnoxious enough. It's also a fundamental undermining of the entire judicial system to suppose that only innocent people deserve competent representation. It's like these jokers didn't even go to law school where you're supposed to learn the importance of an adversarial judicial system in protecting the innocent. The whole time Cole was busy taking down crooked cops (a sub-plot), I'm sitting there thinking "you're part of the problem, you arrogant slob!" Like his own policy isn't undermining the very system that is supposed to keep the other side honest (by ensuring that their theories and evidence are properly challenged in court when the time comes so that they gather the strongest evidence they can and don't stop with, "well I think this person is guilty"). So their own policy would, if followed by others, produce exactly the corruption he's grousing about in his own case.
Anyway, I was soaring high in the beginning of this book, but Lori dribbled that down to the 2½ stars I'm ending up with. I'm rounding down because the ending took it to such ridiculous extremes and then the solution was weak when it finally came. That second problem didn't really signify in the rating, though it might have if the first issue hadn't been so severe.
A note about Steamy: There are probably a half-dozen explicit sex scenes, though honestly, I lost count. The first was kind of awesome and not just because it explored an interesting kink. At any rate, this is in the high end of my steam tolerance and might have surpassed it if I hadn't skimmed some of the later ones. I mean they went downhill from that first, though that may be merely a reflection of my problems with other parts of the story.
Lori quit law school only months from being a lawyer to go back home to take care of her mom after her stroke. Now Mom is ok and even back at work, and Lori is still not back at school. They have too many hospital bills to pay. She's working for the previous books' heroine Cat and at a coffee shop and as a clerk person in a law firm.
And then she meets him. A sexy stranger on the street. Cole.
Instant attraction and fascination.
A sexy dirtly little one-night stand might just be the thing she needs. She doesn't have time for more. But Cole doesn't give up. Once he's back in New York, he vows to find her again.
And he does - but now things are really complicated ... ☺
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO LORI & COLE??? WILL THERE BE A HEA?? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Great Lawyer Romance!!!
Well, that was adorable!
A fun & exciting & interesting & really sexy lawyer romance!
There's this huge insta attraction and intrigue for both of them, but of course Cole doesn't - yet - live in NYC and Lori doesn't have time for love. Or sex. BUT, she can't forget him!
And then a few months later - he's suddenly kind of her boss! Adorable.
But being her boss doesn't stop Cole from pursuing her!
I really enjoyed reading it! We just know that they belong together - but Lori is a bit stubborn about money and independence, BUT we'll get to our happily ever after ... GREAT STORY!
Just like the first book, this one was a tiny bit too long for me. Things are described too much - too many redundant details I didn't care about - or people are having way too long thoughts. A few pages less would've been better .... BUT I really liked all the characters and the story.
DIRTY RICH CINDERELLA STORY was a very adorable & exciting & sexy lawyer romance! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Cole - this one is MINE!!!☺
Dirty Rich Cinderella Story by Lisa Renee Jones this is book Two in the Dirty Rich series. This is the story of Cole Brooks and Lori Havens. I have read the previous book (and loved it) but feel this can be a standalone book. Lori father died, her mother had a stroke so she had to drop out of Law School to help with her mother and find jobs that helps pay the bills for them. Lori happens to meet Cole who have a instant attraction to and they act on it but Lori ups an leaves the next morning knowing that he is out of her money status. But when later when things are going better with her mother's health she takes a intern job that leads her right to Cole again. Really enjoyed their story...a hard book to put down for sure!
One night stand turned into a love story doesn't usually do it for me, but wow I was surprised with this one. This book had a great story and strong characters, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Overall, a well written book.
I had a really hard time finishing this one. But I did it. I won't be reading anymore of this series nor this author. The FMC got on my last nerve. She needed serious Therapy!
The last half of the book was pretty much the same as the first book in the series. It became so boring I kept 'Nodding Off'!
This second standalone in Lisa Renee Jones' Dirty Rich Series was great. Although I didn't read book one in the series, and the main H/h from that book are prominent characters in book two, I had no trouble following along. However, meeting those characters has me eager to read Reese and Cat's book.
Cole Brooks is everything you want a male protagonist to be. He is sexy, sinful (in an intimate way), wealthy, intelligent, and a complete gentleman. Trust me here, the list of his attributes goes on. There was never a single moment in this story that I didn't love him.
Lori Havens is independent to several faults; stubborn being the most prominent trait. Lori had to drop out of law school in her last year to take care of her mother. And since, she has been working several jobs to pay the bills while still hopeful to finish her education. Thanks to good, loyal friends, Lori's future is looking brighter.
I'll be brief here because I don't want to give any spoilers. Lori and Cole meet and their attraction is instant. After a single night together, Lori disappears to Cole's dismay. Months pass while both Cole and Lori can't stop thinking about each other. But when circumstances reunite them, things get complicated. Cole will be her boss and she is adamant about keeping her relationship professional. Cole does not share those same thoughts.
What follows is light suspense, some angst and plenty of sexy times. I loved how Cole treated Lori. As I said earlier he was such a gentleman. Lori on the other hand was frustrating at times. I admit, it took some time for me to warm up to her. But I did. And that said, I loved this book. Truthfully, I have never read anything from this author that I didn't love.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
Buddy and I decided to can this one. I wasn’t fond of the lack of consent and Buddy didn’t like the poor writing. I can sometimes overlook poor writing, but have never been into the trope of “she saying no, but her body is saying yes”. Hard stop, do not pass go, delete from the eReader. On to the next and thank goodness it was free!
No star rating, as I only made it 5% of the way into the book.

It's no secret that i love book written by Lisa Renee Jones. This author knows how to write a story that's suspenseful, romantic and so very hot all at the same time without even making you sweat... too much. I mean, since the first book i've read by her, i've been a huge fan.
She's the type of author that you can't forget. In some way all her stories interconnect and even if you haven't read her previous books, it's not such a big deal because they can all be read as standalones. So what makes Dirty Rich Cinderella Story different? Well, first we have this brilliant law student who had to drop out after her mother became gravely sick - although she wants to finish the last 9 months of her schooling, she can't afford it until a new opportunity arrives for herself. Now, she literally smacks into a man who makes her blood burn and she takes a chance with a one night stand. Lori is the kind of man that is more than able to read people even if she only has a limited amount of information about them, and she's rarely wrong.
On the flip side, Cole is strong and the type of man that needs what he needs - he's no full time Dom, but he does like kink mixed in with his women and doesn't apologize for it. Both know what they do and don't like and make no qualms about it, but together... wow. It was a really engaging story, one that kept me at the edge of my seat from start to finish and i can't wait to read more from this author in the near future.
I have not read the first Dirty Rich story (Dirty Rich One Night Stand) however this has not affected my understanding or enjoyment of Dirty Rich Cinderella Story at all.
Cole and Lori's story is a modern day Cinderella, strangers passing in the night only to find each other again.
I love Lori's strength, even if at times she takes the "strong, independent woman who needs nobody's help" to extremes and I got frustrated with her. I could understand why she is how she is, however I just want her to take the helping hand being offered - no strings attached.
Cole is just all kinds of swoonworthy. From the first time our lover's worlds collide I knew he was going to be become a favourite LRJ character.
Ms Jones has written some amazing series with 2 or 3 or more stories in them, however I am really liking her stand alones.
Strong characters, enjoyable story line, I read this book in one sitting. I can't wait to see where she takes us next.
Little did I know that I was starting off this series with the second book and yet, I still really enjoyed this book.
In Dirty Rich Cinderella Story you will meet Cole and Lori. Now out of these two, I definitely was more in love/obsessed with Cole. Lori tended to annoy the living shit out of me.. but these two somehow made it work. I ended up falling in love with these two and their relationship. Besides these two, you will meet Cat and Reese.. which I think the first book is about them? Not quite sure but once I dive into that bad boy I'll let you know.
The drama was just meh in this book. Honestly, it was so stupid because they just assumed the worst of the other person after they were seen with another person of the opposite sex. It was frustrating to read about and I can't tell you how many times I rolled my eyes during those scenes. Other than that, their relationship was almost perfect.
Overall, I'm glad I ended up picking this book randomly on my audible. I need something with smut ASAP and even though it was there.. it just wasn't enough. I need more!
What can I say about this one that would get you to get to your nearest e-tailer or retailer. This was hot sexy and Cinderellaist. Lori was not looking for a prince, a hook-up, or anything of that nature. She was on the other hand a smart, sexy, young woman and it had been too long. She endured much. She stopped her life to care for a loved one. Why couldn't she have just a bit of delight for herself.
Cole was a man of men. He was one that knew what he wanted and he was determined to get it, but he was not the roll over you type to get what he wanted. He could see Lori for herself.
I was taken with Cole and Lori. I loved seeing some of the other characters of Jones' that I have seen in the past. I was nice getting a peek in their lives and seeing secondary characters that may lead to more. I found this one was not so much a mystery/suspense type read. There was more of Cole and Lori and them working together both professional and not. Lori finds herself being her own worse enemy. Regardless of that being said, I found me another good read from Lisa Renee Jones.
Dirty Rich Cinderella Story is the second book in the Dirty Rich series but can be read without reading the first book. I hadn’t read Dirty Rich One Night Stand and jumped right into Cinderella with no problem.
Lori Havens is a heroine who WANTS to be strong, she wants to be independent and get her life back on track, but she really just seems to not know what direction to go in and fights everything and everyone just for the sake of asserting herself.
“I’m still here, that he has that much control over me makes him powerful. I love and hate this about him to the point that despite all the high and rush of the challenge I’ve professed, I am most likely a little f***ed up, but he doesn’t give me time to let that idea mess with my head.”
Cole Brooks is a swoony alpha hero with a sweet soft side. When he decides that he wants Lori, he puts his all into pursuing her and persuading her! He was definitely my favorite part of this book!
“For this one night,” he says, leaning in, his lips near my ear, the rasp of his light stubble scraping erotically along the delicate skin of my cheek. “I own you.”
What starts out as a one night stand turns into a real journey for both of the main characters. Great chemistry and some angst is what kept me reading this one. -3.5 Stars-
(ebook+audiobook) I have mixed feelings, though they’re overall positive.
I loved that the author used some elements from Cinderella to plot her story. The mistaken identity–Cole thinks Lori is a lawyer, when she’s not–was an interesting twist, as it shows that she has already all the qualities and skills to be a lawyer, it’s just circumstances that keep her from being one already. It’s also a great incentive for Cole to help her when they reunite. It keeps them from seeing each other before they end up working together, and they had time to build up their one night stand into something more. And of course, the disappearance of the ‘princess’ when morning comes, and Cole has no way to find her, was perfect.
The case they work together was interesting. It was definitely more than a plot device to keep the reader invested. Cole shows how he works, which is revelling regarding his personality. It also provides good exemples of Lori’s talent. There’s a bit of danger that add a little thrill to their relationship. It was well done.
One of the things that bothered me the most was their trust issues. Both had serious hangups. Cole’s jealousy is barely understandable. As for Lori, while seeing her determination to succeed by herself was inspiring, the fact that she always refuses help or rewards that she clearly deserved became annoying in the end. It keeps interfering with her relationship with Cole, for no reason. Her daddy issues were also a bit far fetched in my opinion.
The other thing was the instalust/instalove going on. It was mitigated by the fact that they talk a lot and share some deep moments after their first sexy encounter, meaning they could develop at least a serious interest in each other. But why some playboy like Cole would already break some of his rules and bring Lori into his hotel room when he never does that? I didn’t get it, unless it’s a case of instalove. And the obsession he nurtures afterward was also a bit much.
The narration was as good as ever, since both narrators are talented. The female narrator has the most chapters and does a great job with all characters.
So it was overall quite good, though I think it could have been even better–though my complaints may be more a matter of taste.

One thing is for sure. Dirty Rich Cinderella Story is dirty and I gobbled it up quickly. It is the second installment in the Dirty Rich Series but can absolutely be read as a standalone.
Lori was a rising star at Stanford and nine months short of obtaining her law degree when her mother got sick. She made the decision to move home to care for her mother and in doing so, gave up her dreams. Working a full time job and three part time jobs leaves her with zero time to focus on anything other than work and her mother. Until she ran into a strong chest that changes her world forever. He's cocky, beautiful and he wants her. Throwing caution to the wind and taking a chance, Lori goes for a one night stand. However, he has other plans.
Cole is a superstar lawyer who has spent his life trying to not be like his father. He pretty much sticks to one night stands but there's something about Lori that makes him want more. Problem is, she's a runner. She's running from him and from her own emotions. Just when he thought he lost her, she's back in his life and he's going to make sure she knows they belong together.
First of all, Cole is freaking hot. Whew, that first night they are together was sexy. The battle for control, the banter, the giving up control, all of it combined made it a rememberable scene. I loved how straight forward he was. He got right to the point and he fought for what he wanted. He embraced his feelings, even when it confused him.
If you are looking for a hot and steamy cinderella story with fun banter and strong H/h, then you need to read Dirty Rich Cinderella Story.

Reviewed for my pleasure http://bookaddict.live, It is always a pleasure to read one of Lisa’s romances, as we always have a strong women with integrity and who like to kick ass when warranted. This one has Lori, just nine months before finishing her law degree, her father died leaving her mother with his gambling debts. Then her mother has a stroke with the stress. So Lori finds herself responsible for everything. The only thing she can do is leave college and work three jobs. So while this has happened her mother’s out of hospital and things start to look up. When she meets Cat (Dirty Rich one night Stand) in a bar to catch up, as she helps Cat as her assistant . They have become good friends, but on this occasion Cat receives a call and has to leave. Suddenly the hot man she had bumped into earlier sees her, and for one night she wants forget everything and escape. Cole can’t believe his luck. Let just say they go to his hotel, under the conditions Lori sets no last names and just for tonight. Well we all knows what happens, and it was HOT, in the morning Lori runs. Cole and Lori can’t stop thinking about each other. Both not realising they had mutual friends (Reese and Cat) That’s it I hope I’ve wetted your appetite for more, this is completely standalone and a full length story. As always a really perfect story, and I was totally enthralled. By the way Cole is really delicious and I want him.
