LIFE IS ANYTHING BUT EASY FOR THE WALKER'S AFTER THE EMP TERRORIST ATTACK

War Dogs No One Left Behind: Wounded Warriors of the Apocalypse: Post-Apocalyptic Survival Fiction by AJ Newman is a well written storyline about a military K-9 handler by the name of Sergeant Jason Walker and his military dog MMax and best friend who are injured overseas and the transport plane is taken down by an EMP attack on the U.S. on its way to take both of them to the VA Hospital in Jason's home state of Tennessee. With both Jason and MMax just this side of death's door, they make it to Jason's parents farm where the band together with survivers (most Jason and MMax) they've saved on their way to the Walter's farm.

This is a story of a man, his dog, and the people they have taken in and banded together for survival. AJ Newman goes into the struggles, determination, loss, and even the friendships and relationships between their group as they work together to protect themselves, add to their group, find additional members, and rescue lost family members. They work the land, train their group, and grow their relationships all to survive not only the current day but the future of their group.

If you are into post-apocalyptic stories, actions, and heroes that step up to fight and place their lives on the line to protect those who can not protect themselves, this is a book and series for you.

I have enjoyed reading this book as well as the first book in this series and hope you will enjoy it.

Jason and his war-dog MMax are on the trail of his sister

When he finds his drug addicted sister she has become Sister Michelle and is sheltering with a priest and a flock of nuns. Not exactly what Jason was expecting, but not unwelcome. Meanwhile he rescued a rambunctious dirty teen girl who nearly beat the snot out of him and left his balls with an ache for days. Turns out Kat is a fully grown woman, just short, skinny and very petite. Travelling with MMax, Kat and his sister and the Sisters heading back toward his parents, Kat has become quite enamoured with Jason. Jason resists her wiles for a while which earns him some kicks and punches. Did I mention that Kat, who barely measures 5 feet and less than 100 pounds, is a very attractive, though petite young lady. Yep! She's drop dead gorgeous! But Jason, who has designs on another beauty, resists her advances.
Kat and the Sisters have to return to Jason's folks and their entourage at the compound, while Jason has some FEMA thugs to eliminate. Things are getting very interesting! The characters are amazing! There are some to love, some to despise and several that you just have to hate! The good ones are terrific and easily loved like family, and several are family! MMax is a wonder-dog, and the best sidekick ever. Even MMax finds love in the apocalypse, but that's getting ahead of myself. Let's just say that each and every character in the story can make you all flutterly or fill you with a bad taste in your craw and an overwhelming desire to do major bodily harm! The storyline takes you to the tops of glittering mountains one moment and crawling through the despair and debris the next. Jason and MMax are great! The rest are taken at arm's length. But no-one is immune to danger. Good things, bad things, worse things - don't hold your breath, it may take a while to catch it again! This is an amazing great read!

Scrap happens

Another really great read. You keep seeing the bits of happiness but the deal keeps happening more frequently so you don't think you survive this time.

Very good story, with a lot of twists, turns, and surprises. There are many very insightful observations of human nature, survival, and the world of wartime devastation. Great human and canine characters all around.
I did have a few issues with the stilted dialogue, but then came to realize it was a factor of the K9 Soldier, and the kind of personality quirks they have to begin with, combined with extensive battle damage he'd survived.
I look forward to a sequel if the author chooses to follow up here. This is a great story, and I can tell there's a lot more to the protagonist and his entourage.

War Dogs by A. J. Newman

Five Fantastic Stars ✨✨✨✨✨

Characters 💁‍♀️👩‍🌾🙍‍♀️🙍‍♂️🙍
Storytelling 📖📖📖📖📖

I purchased War Dogs in a trilogy package.

Book 1 Heading Home.
Jason Walker and his K9 buddy MMax are part of the US military, serving in a war overseas, are severally wounded and flown back to the states. Nearly home when something happens and the plane falls out of the sky. When Jason wakes inside his medi pod, he realises that he and MMax were left for dead. This is the story of how Jason and MMax band together and face adversity head on, the people they meet and help along the way as he slowly drags his and MMaxs broken body home.

Book 2 No One Left Behind.
Jason , his Dad and MMax leaves the safety of the farm to search and rescue his sister and his brother and his family. Tragedy befalls them as they go from one tight situation to another. They help new friends but also loose people close to Jason. He saves a pocked sized hell cat whose name is Kat who gave as good as she got.

The world is a bleak and meaner place, where death and tragedy is all around.

Book 3 Amazon Warrior
Jason finds that the balance of men to women ratio is heavily disproportionate. To survive and ensure their farm isn’t over run by bandits, thugs, thieves and FEMA, Jason has to train the women into an effective fighting force. The Warrior Women fight and die to protect their new home, friends and loved ones.

I really loved reading these books. The new apocalyptic world is a harrowing, uncertain and hopeless place to live. People turn on one another just for food scraps but the story expands throughout the three books to where there is a light on the horizon, and people evolve to work for the betterment and safety of their farm, their new home and undertake new challenges like farming and training to fight.

There are many characters in the three books and all are well thought out, rounded, and evolve along with the story.

Would I recommend these books. Hell yes.

Two books down and one to go and I haven't quit reading yet. Great series!!!

This series is great post apocalyptic fiction. The characters are as real as your neighbors and the situations are tragic, violent, and just what might really happen one day. Unfortunately the political system has not lent itself well to upholding the American way of life. I will continue to root for the main characters in this story as they fight for their survival and their way of life as I read book three in the series yet tonight.

Great Story - However ...

This is a very good story, but the ending seemed rather abrupt. It was also the saddest book of Newman's that I have read so far. It seemed all too believable. The only distraction was the fairly frequent misspelled and/or miss-used words, though they were not as prevalent in this book as in the previous books of Newman's that I read. Obviously, those problems have.not kept me from reading more of Newman's works. He tells a really good tale! 😀

The writing was a bit amateurish, and the dialogue was unrealistic. That said, it did pull together by the end of the book. I did actually enjoy the story once I got over the writing style. It also didn't hurt that one of the main characters was Military Working Dog. All in all, despite the rough start with the writing style, the book was in fact interesting enough to get past that, which I think does speak well of the author. Just needs to find a new editor, or stop writing like he's writing and just be natural.

ok but

Really enjoyed protagonist’s inner dialogues. Loved the boy and his dog theme. Unfortunately in this 2nd book the story got a bit disjointed; at times seemed more of an outline of key events. Overall the story telling was lacking the quality from the first book. Loved the idea but execution was poor. Felt like the author rushed this one.

MMax saves the day

Love that dog! Fascinating description of the breakdown and rebuild of society. I might suggest future versions add the COVID-19 virus to the list of humanity killers.

Well this book was fast paced and over before I realized it. I was off work for a long weekend and read each book in a day. I really couldn’t put it down. On to the next one.

Got to page 205 on this book and gave up. Too many dumb decisions for a soldier of his caliber and experience. The first book was the same but I stayed with it in spite of the jumbled up story line and poor writing. Sorry. Won’t be reading further with this author

This is the type of post apocalyptic book I love reading. Three books full of action, not dragged out into 6 books full of directions, descriptions and repetition. Thank you for writing such a great series.

The grammar and misspellings detracted from a so so story that I didn’t care at all about the storyline and even less for one dimensional characters
