Jaden Hancock knows that things could be a lot worse. He still has two arms and two legs, even if one of his legs is so badly damaged it’s virtually useless. And it’s not that he isn’t willing to work toward recovery — it’s just hard to see the lack of progress even after weeks of therapy. While he knows that he needs to accept the current state of his body, that acceptance feels like giving up. And he’s not prepared to do that.

Brianna Kole crossed the country to get away from her old life. As the newest member of the staff at Hathaway House, she’s polite but not overly friendly. The last thing she wants is to get attached and to risk getting hurt again. But, in spite of her reservations, she and Jaden gravitate to each other as the two newcomers to the facility. After that, it isn’t long before Brianna’s questioning her feelings… and his.

Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love.

Heartwarming story

I love the concept of Hathaway House and all the healing that goes on there. The care everyone has for each other and the self discovery leads to a brighter future for the characters. There's not much romance here though and I feel the ending came out of nowhere.

This book is a standalone romance, along the lines of classic stories and gentle romance, a story for all the ages. A wounded warrior, a SEAL trying to find and strengthen and adjust to his new world. He finds Hathaway House and meets a nurse who has her own wounds. Together they find their individual journeys of healing. The characters, many found from earlier books in the series, are warm and caring. Hathaway House, its staff and its animals (yes, the animals help in the healing) create possibilities. Bravo! I am a long fan of Dale Mayers and the Hathaway Healing House.

Another delightful story in the brilliant Hathaway House series, this is a standalone book but all the lovely characters from the previous books in the series appear like old friends.
Jaden Hancock was badly injured whilst serving as a Navy SEAL, his rehabilitation was static and Jaden was at the point of accepting that he would be wheelchair bound for the rest of his life , a phone call from his friend Iain, another injured SEAL was to change his mind. Iain convinced Jaden that he had made astonishing progress and urged him to join him at Hathaway House.
Hathaway house is an amazing rehabilitation unit mainly for the holistic treatment of injured military personnel, it is owned and run by Dani Hathaway and her father, the major.
Brianna Kole was a new nurse at the unit, she had moved across country to start a new life, Brianna was jilted at the alter by her fiance who had been having an affair with her best friend.
Jaden and Brianna struck up a friendship but Jaden was convinced that no one would want to have a relationship with someone with his injuries and Brianna had put up barriers to prevent herself from further hurt. With the help of the wonderful staff at Hathaway House including Shane the physio, Dennis the chef and Stan the vet who looks after the animals that are used in the healing process, Jaden and Brianna overcame their demons and fell in love.
I love the empathy that all the staff have with the injured military patients, I love the picture the author paints of Hathaway House and I love the psychology of the healing process that Dale Mayer writes about and has obviously researched well.
This is a lovely gentle love story of triumph over adversity.

I'm really loving how as we meet new people, both as patients and staff, we also love how they find the healing they need at Hathaway House.

In this book Jaden and Brianna are both new to Hathaway House. Jaden as a patient and Brianna as a relief nurse.

Jaden was inspired by Iain's recovery to apply to Hathaway House. His time at the VA Hospital has reached a point where he is not progressing and he really wants to be better.

Brianna is a caring nurse, who came to the area for a new beginning. Her position at Hathaway House was to be a relief nurse. That has quickly turned to full time hours and Dani offers her a full time position and one of the apartments on site.

While Brianna and Jaden do hit it off, there are some conversations that have me shaking my head. Brianna is a caring nurse but perhaps too much so for the patients here. She needs to come to terms with a lot of things, including the fact that pain is regretfully a part of the healing process.

I really love the journeys to healing these two have. For Jaden it's physical and mental, and for Brianna it's personal growth and understanding.

The interactions with Shaun are interesting and informative and I really loved getting more insight into Dennis. The animals are also an integral part here and much fun to see and get to know.

I really can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Jaden Hancock still has his two arms and legs even if one leg is badly damaged. He isn't afraid of hard work, he just can't see evidence of progress after weeks of therapy. He feels he should accept it as it really is but part of him can't do that. Nurse Brianna Kole crossed the country to escape her old life and work at Hathaway House. She keeps to herself and is not overly friendly to people to avoid attachment and the risk of hurt in the future. However both her and Jaden gravitate to each other as the two newcomers to the facility. However, it isn’t long before Brianna’s questioning her feelings… and his.

This was a really sweet story detailing the struggle that both of them went through with their own lives as well as the acceptance that they both had moved past the friends' stage in their relationship. I really enjoyed the sections of their struggles with both physical and mental problems around both themselves and the feeling they might have for each other. However, I did find the conclusion at the end a little abrupt and sudden (even though I have to admit to being thrilled at the same time). Well written, I found it clear and easy to understand most of the time. An enjoyable romance that I found increasingly addictive.

I love, love, love this series. It makes a person think twice about what is happening to the vets in America. The characters in the book come to Hathaway House for rehabilitation from injuries received while serving in the military. The story not only brings to light the injuries we can see, but also what some of these vets are going through psychologically. I love how the books brings to light some injuries that could be happening to our vets in real-life. Yet, would it not it be wonderful if we had a Hathaway House in every location that is needed for our military?

This story, in this book, grabbed a hold of me from the first chapter and kept my attention through the entire book. It showed how this particular vet worked through his physical injuries and also his psychological injuries. And also how one of the nurses who treats him, works through her own personal problems. They work through their problems together and become closer and the bond between them grows strong. The characters are so likable and the way the book is written has you rooting for these two characters. This is another remarkable book in this series! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Jaden is astonished to see and hear the progress that his buddy Iain has made since entering Hathaway House. Even though Jaden had been skeptical before, his new goal is to match his buddy's progress. When Brianna learnt that her fiancé cheated on her with her best friend, Brianna looks for a new start at Hathaway House. Jaden and Brianna clicked from the first day and quickly became friends. Both Jaden and Brianna learn that there is more than physical healing done at Hathaway House. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is a sweet romance told from both Jaden's and Brianna's point of view. I really like that emotionally healing is done by staff as well as the patients. Their brief introspective moments helped me as well in reflecting on my life. I really like the approach of the treatment that is done at Hathaway and hope there is real life places like this for veterans. I especially like how treated animals are interwoven through this series, especially Hoppers. This is a wonderful and delightful read.

Helping is a Two-Way Street

At Iain’s urging and with his strong recommendation, Jaden transfers from his current VA Rehab to Hathaway House, even though he believes that he’s gone as far as he can in his recovery. Iain’s photos of his success at Hathaway House have piqued Jaden’s interest, so he goes there in the cautious hope that there really might be a brighter future for him. Brianna is a new part-time relief-nurse/part-time information-technologist on the Hathaway House staff, having moved a very long distance to escape a dark time in her past. Originally bonding as fellow newbies at HH, Jaden and Brianna find themselves together also as nurse-patient. As Brianna tries to help Jaden deal with the difficult emotional issues that inhibit his physical progress, it opens a path of help and healing for her at Hathaway House. A beautiful story. This series never fails to provide inspiration.

Hathaway house is a place where wounded soldiers go to heal -- physically, mentally and emotionally. It also has a way of working its magic on staff members who need healing, as well as on non-human strays and injured they take in.

I love this series so much! It’s a wonderful reminder to appreciate the men and women who sacrifice so much for our country, and I come out of the books with my own soul being healed a little bit after my time spent with the Hathaway House family.

Maybe it’s me, but this book didn’t have quite the same effect as the others have. There was a lot of self-introspection and internal dialog, and I never felt a connection between the two main characters. It seemed like they went from just friends to ready to spend forever together in a few pages, which made it less believable for me.

If my concerns aren’t the same for you, you’ll love Jaden and Brianna's story. Otherwise, check out some of the other fantastic stories in this series. Hathaway House is truly special, and you won’t want to miss out on its magic.

Another sweet uplifting story from the Hathaway House series with Jaden who moves to the rehab centre when his friend Ian boasts about the amazing results he himself has seen. He arrives and meets Brianna, a new nurse who also has her own past troubles to overcome. The two become instant friends and help each other along but this time it seems that Brianna is struggling more to overcome her past and until she lays to rest her past, her and Jaden might not have a future.
A great sweet read and a bit different from the others as the h struggles more than the H does to recover. His is more physical but hers is emotional, and is just as debilitating to move forward. The two are great together and Jaden is more grounded, moving forward both emotionally and physically which helps Brianna to heal as well. Another heartwarming read that will leave you smiling for ear to ear and loving all the characters who are frequent in all the books.

Jaden by Dale Mayer
Hathaway House Series Book Ten
Jaden Hancock couldn’t believe seeing the photos of how his friend Iain had improved since he'd been at Hathaway House. And now he was here too. Seeing Iain in person had Jaden aiming to reach those goals for himself, but healing was more than physical. He had to get his thoughts on the right path too.

Brianna Kole had been working as a nurse part-time at Hathaway House for about a month when she was offered full-time...and an apartment to live in onsite. It was a beautiful, healing place, even for those who worked there. She soon found she had as much healing to do as many of the patients here.

Everyone has their problems. Some you can see on the outside...others hide everything on the inside. As Jaden struggles with dealing with how he “looks” on the outside ,and Brianna coping with her past on the inside...they find a friendship that quickly helps each of them in reaching their goals. I like Hathaway House characters and stories.

We are back to Hathaway House, a special Rehab Center for wounded soldiers with both the physical and the mental hits our guys take way too often! Here they can feel safe and well cared for as well. The facilities are the best including and area for a vet to help wounded animals. They have enough land to have horses too. The most important thing they have is hope and love and it shows!
This time Jaden joins the group of patients after encouragement from a friend who was helped and still there soon to be off on his own. Brianna is new too but is not a patient, she has just joined the facility. She has no physical disabilities however she has been hurt mentally and is healing as well.
Amazing how this author takes unique but also everyday problems, brings them into the open and offers life changing ways to cope and heal. Very well done! An easy, fun and informative read and I really enjoyed it.

Hathaway House is a place for injured veterans to go for rehabilitation. With its unique programme and excellent teams of staff it's the place to go to recover and find yourself. Jaden feels that his recovery is as good as it will get until his friend Iain calls and recommends him to apply for a place at Hathaway House. Jaden arrives jaded with life and his circumstances feeling nothing will ever be the same and only a bleak future ahead of him. He meets Brianna a nurse who has recently joined the team of staff after uprooting herself due to her own problems. They strike an immediate friendship.
The road to recovery is not easy for either of them but with determination, the help of the Hathaway House team, the beautiful setting and wonderful animals surrounding them, they can begin to heal and along the way just might find their special someone.
A great story of courage, friendship and romance.

Jaden Hancock is severely damaged while on a mission. He decides to move to the Hathaway Rehab Center when he realizes he is not making any progress at his current place. He knows that unless he improves, he will be unable to function independently in his future life.

Brianna Kole is a full time nurse at Hathaway House. She has just moved here to start a new life after she is betrayed by her fiancé and her best friend. She is also Jaden’s nurse.

This book is written about two imperfect people who become fast friends. However, they each have issues that they must overcome before they are able to find their way past their friendship and move into a meaningful relationship.

In this series, Dale Mayer skillfully, and respectfully, elucidates the life and emotions of a soldier as he/she agonizingly endures therapy in order to be able to live a normal and successful life.

Another magical and spiritual read from this inspiring series. Those injured in such devastating ways are struggling to get just basic use back in limbs damaged they think beyond repair, getting a chance to go to Hathaway House is a wish for many. The way the teams work together and spot different aspects of the patients well being to get over the stumbling blocks their minds have put in place is amazing, it really makes you think about how you deal with even minor injuries like a sprain. Adjusting your walk to spare more pain just as an example. But it isn't just the patients that find help and peace in this place, even those supposedly healthy sometimes need help. I'm loving this series it's different and refreshing but also very uplifting, I find myself soaking up the words with relish and any romance is a bonus.

The Hathaway House series continues bringing awareness to our wounded vets. This series to me is a slice of their lives, but with a HEA. Even though this is Jaden's story and Brianna, what really hit me is the uniformity sense in our VA, the unified thought of this is all there is. This continues to bring home the need for change and hope. Even dealing with his wounds Jaden seems to have his sh*t together, he is willing to listen and learn. He does get twisted when his feelings for Brianna are involved, but don't we all. I have to give kudos to Brianna for asking her the hard questions and to Dale for bringing this to light. I know it happens. Did I confuse you? Read the book. Thank you Dale Mayer and Booksprout for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

Awwwwww I loved Jaden. This was a well written sweet story and was even more true to real life with two people who are broken, one by being jilted at the alter and the knowledge of being her by her best friend of many years, the other by i juries during his service and the realisation that he may never be better than he is.

Hathaway house reveals it magic again as it heals the heart and soul of those that need it and gives time and answers to those that wants it. With people at the centre willing to help and be there for anybody who needs guidance and an ear to listen.

I am really enjoying this series of sweet romance with the Major, Dani, the animals and all of the other characters and past characters We have already seen.

Jaden arrives at Hathaway house not expecting a lot at all. He is prepared to be disappointed although his friend had spectacular results and is praying for the same thing for himself
Brianna wanting a change is new to Hathaway House as well and both being new have hit it off right away.
As with most couples, doubts creep in and misunderstandings. What if's are always in one's mind. Can they work through this? Do they want to work through this? That is a good question and the author let's us know. Since I refuse to do spoilers, I am leaving it right there. However, Hathaway House is awesome and so is this series. Thanks again Dale, and you have another hit on your hands. I loved it.

Jaden decides to give Hathaway House a go after a glowing recommendation from his friend Iain. Once there he meets Brianna who is a nurse who has a lot of emotional self healing that she needs to go through. The two bond immediately. Brianna's story to me is probably more eclipsing than Jaden's. I feel like even though has a more difficult road to travel physically to get where he needs to be, hers is one that is probably is equally hard because it requires a person to tear down walls and grow and learn and that is often something people have the hardest time with. It's a great story and I couldn't put this book down. Love these books. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.

Hathaway House is a place for healing, both inside and out.

Jaden follows his wounded brothers in arms on a journey to heal from injuries received in battle. His fight now is with his damaged body and what his future may hold.

Brianna has brought her nursing skills to Hathaway House to help others heal. Her recent relationship has left her unsure of herself, but can she see that she too is wounded and in need of healing?

Jaden and Brianna's story may also bring awareness and a touch of healing to the reader. It is part of the magic that is Hathaway House.

Very Nice!

A sweet story about self-discovery and enlightenment by both characters in their own way. Each have a history that shaped their thoughts and feelings of today, they share a journey that provides truth that, at times, is uncomfortable to face but necessary to grow and be a better person today.

This story, while about a sweet romance, is kind of heavy on Brianna looking within herself and forgiving people for hurting her and accepting some of those people she can’t ever forgive.

Jaden has to accept that it will take a long time, hard work, and dedication to get his body where he wants it to be.

A very thought provoking read, but one I enjoyed very much.

Jaden and Brianna are both at Hathaway house to heal from different things and little do they know how much they will help each other in this process. You connect with the characters immediately and I liked how you got frustrated with them at time but you also know they are going through so much along with understand that emotional healing is just as big as physical. So get ready for highs and lows, wonderful characters and cute animals that make you fall in love with not only this book but also this series!

I loved this book so much. Brianna plays a big part in Jaden's story.
Jaden isn't as damaged as a lot of the other patients at Hathaway House, but he has some strength building to do, as well as working on his mental health.
Brianna is a nurse with a recent failed relationship. Her fiance and friend both betrayed her, and that is holding her back from moving on to a healthy relationship.
I loved the way the author hit on how traumatic this type of betrayal is to the way your thinking is skewed afterwards.
Outstanding writing, and wonderful characters you'll fall in love with.

Jaden applies for Hathaway House after his friend, Iain had such phenomenal results, both physically and emotionally. He's is ready to improve further than he has so far. What he didn't expect was how hard it would be.
Brianna ran away from a bad relationship, ditched at the Altar, it was time to move on. She found a part time gig at Hathaway House, hoping it would become full time. Both are lost souls, that are attracted to each other, but there is much soul searing on each side. Can they get beyond their demons and find what they crave? I found this story to be really sweet and endearing!

This is another must-read in the Hathaway House series that centers around a rehab facility that gives people and animals a safe haven and second chance at life and love. The Hathaway House series is always a joy to read. Ms Mayer incorporates so many insights into her books that I can always learn something form them (even at my advanced age!). Jaden is a wounded ex-SEAL who is sure he has reached the limit of his rehabilitation and is quite discouraged. Brianna was left at the altar by her cheating fiance and can't seem to put it behind her and move forward. They ultimately find they can overcome their issues and find happiness with each other. Great series and I recommend it.

Jayden ready for a new start. If his friend Iain's treatment worked for him, why not give it a go for himself.
Brianne moving forward having moved states, landed a new job at Hathway which includes her lodging on the grounds things start to look up for her.
Together they face their pasts trying to move forward and trying to see if what they feel is real and if they have a future together.
A great read.
