Really touching.

This book just touched my heart and I couldn't stop reading it. I loved the story and the characters in this novel. Salik and Fatimah's love story touched my heart so badly that I believe in everlasting love now. Love doesn't need to get bounded in a relationship to last forever. I am so surprised and proud of this author. The places were described so elegantly in the novel but I somehow felt that in some places the author overdid the descriptions and that somehow bored me but still the story had me hooked and I finished it in one sit. I couldn't stop crying at the ending and needed consolation. I was touched by how the author carved the story around such controversial matters and still didn't write anything that could offend someone. For me this story won my heart when in the ending Fatimah's feelings were described too, the author could end the novel on Salik's feelings but he went ahead and showed Fatimah's feelings too and there and then he won my heart. I will surely remember this author's name for a really long time and can't wait to read his second book. Hats off to him.

The book is marvelous, the story quite painful.
It's filled with glimpses of nature and from Kashmir that'll make you fall in love with the book instantly. I loved the pretty descriptions of nature, birds and solitude right from the beginning of the book.

However pleasant the words are, the story is quite painful.
It's about a young man Salik from Kashmir who's accidentally identified as a terrorist. Frightful! He escapes from his killers with the help of a friend but still remains a fugitive. He has to stay away from his family and also his love Fatimah.

He continues living alone, works hard, begins to be grateful for his new life. Yet it's tragic to have been separated from his family and his love that he loved so dearly and wanted to spend the life together. The dreams are shattered, of course, but life still goes on.
There are two POVs, the second I of Fatimah, who after 8 years of waiting has to marry another guy, but that doesn't last longer since she cannot love anyone else as she loves Salik.

Forty Nine years later he dares going back to his birthplace, and destiny at its mercy, brings together the two lost lovers.
But will the duo now be able to get together as they wanted to?
Read the book to find out!
I love the title and the cover of the book. It's totally worth reading it. It induces so many emotions and I actually felt comfortable reading it.
Words are carefully chosen, in a poetic manner at times, the language is simple and clean.

I'd highly recommend this to y'all.

A must read.

In search of Lost of Home is the story of Salik who lives in Kashmir with his family. He is the only child of his parents. There is a girl whose name is Fathima who is a neighbour of Salik . Both Salik and Fathima love each other. But life takes a turn and he had to flee Kashmir due to some tough circumstances. He travels all over the world hiding his identity. He meets Albert Smith and shared all his problems with him. Albert becomes a good friend of Salik. Albert and his father helped Salik in hiding his identity. They give him a new identity as David Smith. He travelled to different countries and finally he settled down in Istanbul for some years.

This book describes the hardships in life, separation from loved ones, pain, self discovery, embracing the beauty of God's creation and helping the needy people. Read this book to know why Salik is hiding his identity and after decades of wandering, how does the life of Salik unfold?

Author has done an amazing job. The story is good enough to be scripted for a movie. Writing Style is exquisite. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Absolutely beginner friendly and I highly, highly recommend this book to everyone!!

Title - In Search of Lost Home

Author - Zubair Arif Shah

There are times when we know we aren't wrong but we still get punished and find oursleves stuck in a situation we don't belong too just because of a misunderstanding.

Same is the scenario with our main protagonist of this book. Salik, he is shown a Kashmir resident. Who is mistook for someone who he isn't, a Terrorist!!

And then when he somehow fled jail, there was not an easy comeback to his house.

And so he had no other option but to switch one country after another at regular intervals.

Well his this journey has been portrayed beautifully.

Though he was in pain, staying away from his family and lover. It wasn't an easy phase for him.

But this journey introduced him to various people who left an mark of positivity and gave him hope at various instances.

And another painful part was of Fatimah. His lover. While Salik was on run, she waited for him.

Their love has been portrayed beautifully.

But then she gets married to someone else after 7 years of wait ..

Well that marriage didn't work either.. she was always into Salik.

Who came back as a total different identity after 49 years.

Well it's a Kashmir located story so the beautiful scenery of Kashmir have been beautifully jotted by the author.

If we talk about Kashmir, there's always a love filled emotion that pops up in our mind ..

So what do you think would Salik and Fatimah Reunite?

I'll not answer this one and will not spoil your read.
I'll let you read it and find the answer by yoursleves.

This is a beautifully captivating book that covers the life of Salik, as a boy until his death. He lives in the beautiful valley of Kashmir, and life takes a frightening turn as he has to flee from his home and loved ones. He lives a life as a fugitive, who is seeking meaning for his life.

He faces many experiences in life as he traverses the world. He suffers from separation, pain, longing and constant longing for a place which feels like home. He is separated from his parents and the love of his life Fatimah, whom he shares a deep love for.

Would highly recommend this short read. It’s a book of hope, even in life’s worst situations you can still find meanings and purpose.

The book is full of poetic imagery and insight and wisdom.

Some quotes ⬇️

“Miracles happen every day, we just need the eyes to see them, the silence to feel them, and a heart to embrace them.”

“One either needs to have the ability to feel things deeply to be able to write, by observing life and feeling its deep distress and meanings, or one must have had walked through thorns of intense pain to be able to do it.”

“Life is a terrain and a celebration of learning, love, heartbreaks, pain and separations, and we have to accept all of them to be a part of this long and tedious journey.”

Book:- In search of Lost Home By Zubair Arif Shah (@zas.alfaaz), edited by Mansi Narula Kashyap (@authormansi_nk)

Genre:- Literature and Fiction

Page Count:- 147

Book Description:-  This amazing story, In search of Lost home is a story which revolves around the protagonist who is a simple boy,  living in his simple and decent life in between the beautifully blessed Kashmir with his family and his childhood best friend, neighbour and lover Fatimah.
Salik was having a sober life until he sees three men conversing and  discussing about a huge army attack, which changed the life of Salik completely. He was arrested, tortured and was beaten inhumanly.

Since then, Salik's life changes into something new with a number of twist and turns. From a simple boy living with his beloved and family, he becomes a traveler, a professor and a reputed man.

He didn't know what life and god had planned for him. And from here, his journey of life starts.

Travelling in ships and planes, changing his identity and deleting mail ids got usual for him  when he  was not even at fault but had to do it just to survive and in the hope that someday he'll meet his family and Fatimah.

The story tells how life is unpredictable.  It tells how you can be in danger even when it is not your fault.

Point of view:- This story is a short and swift read for me. The author had a very strong vocabulary, at least strong enough to inpress the readers. Talking about the cover ,it was fabulous! It had a strong plot and It gave the reader urge to read it. And the title also was impressive. This book totally made me feel better and it changed my point of view. After reading it, I started to show gratitude towards life. I totally feel like this one is one of the most remarkable books I've ever read.  Tbh, I assumed Salik as Santgio from the book 'The Alchemist' written by Paulo Coelho.

" The hardest part of living is to live with the knowledge of our fleetingness, to know that everything we love will melt away with time."

The book tracks the story of Salik who is falsely convicted for terrorism just because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Salik, a young boy lives with his family in Srinagar. He loves the beauty of the hills, the peace that it provides for contemplation. He also has Fatimah in his life whom he plans on spending his life with. Salik is content with his life. He likes to roam around his place, sits by Dal Lake with his beautiful Fatimah, and loves to write about the beauty that he feels for the world around him. Then one day he is caught in a web of lies and falsehood just because of his mere destiny as he is found in the wrong place at the wrong time. His life turns upside down from that point and he has no clue how he will survive the storm that has unfolded in his life suddenly. Salik ultimately decides to accept his fate but life has different plans for him.

The book was an emotional ride for me. The way the pain of Salik has been described is heartfelt. It made me realize the pain that so many people are going through in the valley of Kashmir in terms of terrorism, political vendetta, and the various ploys people are playing there for their gain. Imagine losing your home, family, friends, and loved ones just because you are like a puppet in someone else's game play. The world would become such a beautiful place if only we could start having a bit of humanity in us.

The book is a short read but it has hit the right emotional chord and the message that it wanted to deliver. Certain incidents did feel a bit unreal however it can be ignored as the book falls under the fiction genre. In certain moments the book felt a bit preachy and repetitive.

I am sure that everyone who reads the book will surely get the message of love, peace, and humanity that the author wanted to deliver.

It was a nice read overall.

FAB - BOOK REVIEW OF FAB - BOOK REVIEW OF "In Search Of Lost Home" by Zubair Arif Shah

Genre: Fiction (Adventure)

Rating - 3/5

QOTD: A very unconventional book that you've read?

''In Search Of Lost Home" is a very unconventional story written by Zubair Arif Shah. This book is about Salik, who was leading a very everyday life with his loving family and with the love of his life Fatima. So everything is going great until one day when he was identified as a terrorist, unfortunately, even when he is not the one. All this happened in Kashmir. When he was recognized as guilty, he was put into jail, and Salik ran out of it. For almost 50 years, to be accurate 49 years, he is just wandering worldwide, meeting people, talking to them, doing some odd jobs, and earning for himself. Whereas he is missing his family no matter how many times he wanted to meet them, he couldn't. After wandering to many places by doing some odd jobs, finally, in Istanbul, he became a professor in a college and philanthropist. And in all these years, everything changed in Kashmir, and his family is no more, and then later, once he got some reputation as a professor, he decided to go back to Kashmir to look at the situation there.
.
This is the main plot of the book. Yes, this is such an unconventional story. Once you read, you will get what I mean. I am slightly disappointed because I expected a lot, in fact, totally a separate plot from what I have read in the book, so here are placed where I feel the book could be improved:
1. Correct plotline and clarity within the plot.
2. I can see the wavelengths of the story being changed too quickly.
3. Good characterization development is recommended.
4. Writing Style could be a little better, which will make the reader excited to read the book.
The language is lucid, and the editing is also good. This book is just for those who love to read some unconventional stories.

This stunning story, looking for Lost home is a story which rotates around the hero who is a basic kid, living in his straightforward and nice life in the middle of the wonderfully honored Kashmir with his family and his youth best friend, neighbour and darling Fatimah.

Salik was having a calm life until he sees three men bantering and examining about an immense armed force attack, which changed the life of Salik totally. He was arrested, tortured and was beaten brutally.

From that point forward, Salik's life changes into something new with various bend and turns. From a basic kid living with his dearest and family, he turns into an explorer, an educator and a presumed man.

He didn't have the foggiest idea what life and god had made arrangements for him. Also, from here, his excursion of life begins.

Going in boats and planes, changing his personality and erasing mail ids got normal for him when he was not even to blame yet needed to do it just to endure and with the expectation that some time or another he'll meet his family and Fatimah.

The story tells how life is capricious. It tells how you can be in peril in any event, when it isn't your flaw.

Perspective:- This story is a short and quick read for me. The writer had a solid jargon, in any event sufficient to inpress the perusers. Discussing the cover ,it was remarkable! It had a solid plot and It gave the peruser inclination to understand it. What's more, the title likewise was amazing. This book completely caused me to feel much improved and it changed my perspective. Subsequent to understanding it, I began to show appreciation towards life. I thoroughly feel like this one will be one of the most surprising books I've ever perused. Tbh, I expected Salik as Santgio from the book 'The Alchemist' composed by Paulo Coelho.

Plot:
Salik, a young and ambitious Kashmiri boy, who had dreams of making something big in his life and spending peaceful life with his beloved Fatima, gets caught in a chain of unfortunate incidents and is labeled a terrorist for no fault of his. Circumstances force him to flee from Kashmir with the hope to return soon. But life is not always what we plan. Embarking onto a lifelong journey in an unknown world, fleeing from one place to another, Salik discovers several mysteries of life. Written in the form of a memoir this book narrates the story of love, hope, loss, grief, and separation.

Verdict:
This book is a mix of travelogue, philosophy, and fiction. Each chapter has some life lessons which have been woven so seamlessly with the story that it always made sense and added to emotions the story carried. I especially found it really commendable that the author touched upon a very sensitive topic but very efficiently managed to remain unbiased, not to cause any controversy. However, one thing which could have been better, in my opinion, was the narration. The narration and language were best when there was philosophical content, but as soon as it switched to the main story, the narration lost its charm. The story plot and ending became very monotonous and predictable after a certain point. But if we ignore that part for a moment, the overall concept of the book is very interesting. Especially the last section/chapters of the book brought tears to my eyes and I indeed felt the pain that the characters were going through. So, overall this is a good book and I would recommend it to beginners who would like to read something from Kashmir. For me, this book scores 3.9/5⭐

Home: Its our safe place, our haven where we can be whatever we want. But what happens when a person is forced to give up their home due to a mere misunderstanding? In search of Lost Home is written on the similar lines.

Basically, the book revolves around Salik, a normal boy with normal life and moreover, who is content with his life. He lives with his parents, who are pretty to do well, and is in love with his neighbor, Fatimah.
However, life has other plans for him and nothing ever happens with regards to what we expect.
Due to an unlikely misunderstanding, his entire life changes.

Owing to his unfavorable circumstances, Salik has to take on a new identity and leave a different life. Its not like his life is completely halted, he does continue to move on in his life, but the attachment that he has to his home never really wanes.

While reading the book, I felt a sort of melancholy. The incidents that happened during the course of this book, the events that take place will definitely be a lesson for all the readers.

Rather than a story, at times it felt like the tone was monotonous. Like instead of reenactment of an incident, it was just a facade of what had happened.

I liked the way author used his words to describe certain things that were heavy, but needed to be said. The tempo of the book was very nice and the pace was also pretty fast.

I would recommend this book to all those who don't mind a bit of tragedy in their stories. I am going to give this book FOUR HOME STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was such a beautiful surprise for me. A breath of fresh air, in the truest sense. When I read the blurb, I was thinking of it to be completely unbelievable and something I'd never be able to relate to. The story isn't ordinary, is it?

But, I was so enchanted (without exaggeration ngl) with the author's philosophical point of views. Seeing the world through Salik's eyes made the world an even better place for me.

When I think of Indian love stories, I get goosebumps thinking how clichéd the usual stories are. This one, though, was the purest and most truest form of love. Even in separation, it was never about dying for your loved ones, instead living to the fullest to be able to face your loved ones, if and when it happens, with everything it takes :')

Being a traveler myself, I really enjoyed traveling the world through Salik's travelogue. The life lessons, on point! Even with all the tragedy, he's never been bitter towards anyone, or even life in general. What a painfully joyful ride it was, aah!

The only reason I'm taking away one star is its editing. There were a number of typos, and other mistakes, which is okay for an ARC, but this one is already published. So, not to get everyone's expectations too high, if you can get over these minor bugs, this one might become one of your favourite reads.

Finally, if you liked "The Kite Runner", you'd probably love this one too :)

On one tragic day, he js accidentally identified as a terrorist. He has to ran away from his family and love just because of this accident. After 49 years he dares to go back his home, what happens next?

I love the cover page of the book, it's so meaningful. A picture says it all, the title is appropriate for the book. I enjoyed reading this book and it is full of emotions and feelings. This book is all about the pain, love, hardships, heart break and what not. For me, it was a very painful book and I'll hope no one has to suffer in life like that.

In this #Christmas Eve, we love to spent time with our loved ones, stay #home and spent time with our #loveones.

Unfortunately, Salik didn't had the scope nor ability to do so. He spent his time escaping the narrow streets down the Kashmir valley. A man is identified as terrorist mistakenly. He runs to save his life and is declared fugitive on #homeland.

This gut wrenching #story of young man who patronises as a professor roams around the world, holding prestigious position to claim his place in the society. Away from #family #love #home he tries to build a new identity. Is it truly possible to hide throughout your whole life. The hardship, suffering pain holds the secrets of life. Often left unseen, it is the sad tale we wish never to imagine.

The rout towards the homeland isn't peaceful. He lost his life to a misunderstanding. He avoided shackles only to be chained up in disguise.

Cob in #words and #quotes, the #author strikes the strings of #heart in a lucid and with strong #vocabulary. Dramatic yet saddened is a story to be read and explored. Thoughts of penny lies in the fences of #life. Time to cut the chase and cherish that left behind. A story of escapades...

Cons
#Picture perfect- #puzzle is too easy to solve.

In search of a lost home by Zubair Arif Shah

How often do we find ourselves amidst the injustice thrown at us by the system itself? Time is the witness to confirm that much too often the innocents are condemned and the guilty decimate the nation without any shackles.
In this story, we find our protagonist Salik in a fix that has no remedy, no legality but just bland injustice to make your writhing agony oust beyond limitations.
Plot:
Salik a young Kashmiri boy, ensnared in circumstances found himself the victim of the Kashmiri bureaucracy on account of militant activity in his vicinity. Taken without notice and deprived of his freedom without a cause, Salik found two options lying bare against his life. One is being condemned to death on all the wrong pretenses and the other is to flee.
Here starts the pilgrimage of the young wayfarer, across the oceans, into the desert, and off to the pinnacle of mountains.
Against the stroke of ill-luck, he fought the oceans and braved the different landscapes the world has to offer. But at what cost? The cost was his freedom & Identity.
The story of a young boy's journey to avoid shackles, with one question in mind when shall he be Home again?

The story has been built with particular emphasis on the grandeur of the words selected. The sentences are wrought up with quotes that reach your heart and also have a lot of philosophy involved but in spite of all the story considers a certain naivete. *Spoiler Alert* Salik escapes the clutches of the bureaucrats, the army, the police across borders, and what not to find a safe haven in a country thousands of miles away from his home, the chances of this happening smoothly are one in a million. Although shown to be in certain anxiety, looking from the reader's perspective Salik's journey looks to be a rather smooth one. I wouldn't call it providence or even dumb luck because the odds are astronomical.
Too good to be true for the people who have read the great Escapades of Henri Charrier in his life story "Papillon".
But it may turn out to be a good starting point for people looking to migrate to great escapades as a new genre having a less elaborate plot and simpler devices.

IN SEARCH OF LOST HOME!

Have u read a book that have moved you!!
This book has changed my perspective towards life. It has reminded me about the grey area where life exists, which not completely white, nor completely black!!!
This is story of Salik, a Kashmiri boy who used to love living on the "paradise of the earth", who enjoyed spending time with his family and Fatimah, her beau. However , due to an unfortunate incident, police arrested him, tortured him and forced him to confess to a crime which he didn't commit. He was waiting for death sentence untill a person came to protect him in the form of an angel! I won't tell further because I want all of you to read this beautiful book
Trust me, it's worth your time and energy
Read this book to find out if he was ever able to meet his parents and Fatimah , if he survived the punishment or he escaped, if he ever returned to his Mother land.

I would give this book 5/5 as this book bought tears to my eyes in the end.
I would really like to congratulate author for writing this beautiful story, for highlighting such an important issue and for bringing a change in my perspective!

A emotional ride

To start with the title, the author had given an apt one. It defines the entire book. Salik, a young Kashmiri man, had a contented life in Kashmir. During the war he was misidentified as a terrorist and was forced to enter prison. He leaves his family and lady love Fatimah in order to escape. He was helped by a good-natured prisoner. He escaped the punishment by running away leaving everything. He is a hobo moving from place to place. He undergoes so many changes like self-realization, and other emotions. Thus one fine day he gets courage to be at home again!

Will he succeed in his search of lost home?
Will everything be the same?
What happened to Fatimah and his family?

The journey of Salik is splendid. The description of places are so good. It produces a visual that feels so real. There is still crisis in Kashmir. This helps us know the struggles, the people at Kashmir undergo.

The characters are developed very well. Salik is alive. The love story seems perfect. I literally cried at some places, which were so good. This book is so engaging and real. I loved the book except for few places, which had so much description.

Salik is a young and ambitious boy from Kashmir living a pretty normal life with his beloved Fatima and his family, until one day he decides to be heroic and inform everyone at the market about a blast , he is misunderstood by the bureaucracy and local police and labelled a terrorist. His life suddenly changes and he finds himself running away from the jail, the system and his own country. He travels through various countries after finally landing in Istanbul, as a professor and a philanthropist. In between hee loses most important people in his life and finally decides to go back to Kashmir and tries to rekindle every moment in the past in the final time of his life.
This book teaches us that system is so corrupt and anything can happen. It's an unsettling and unconventional story talking about topics no one wants to talk about but are necessary to talk about. The writing is so beautiful that it almost feels like you're there with Salik travelling the world. The pain, sorrow and philosophy of life has been described beautifully.
Must read!

Painful story lately I have read

The story revolves around the protanogist Salik and Fatimah. This story encounters various emotions from love, seperation and waiting for loved one.
Salik who hails from Kashmir and living with his childhood love Fatimah. In the beginning of the book intricacies were described so beautifully about Kashmir, which is an addition to the story. The story developed with a fateful day when Salik was identified as a terrorist by the local bureaucrats and by his own country. He ran away from jail by saving himself. On the other side Fatimah is waiting her love to rekindle. Salik ran away from country to country from Newzealand, London, Canada, Australia and coming back to Kashmir again.
He lives few years in Instanbul and he change his identity. He is living there and suddenly thinks that some thing is missing. He returns to Kashmir.
Will they both able to reunite their old love. The language is rich. But the story is painful and ripped your heart in few last chapters

Salik parted from his family during his 20's of the simple yet beautiful life he has.
His life has turned upside down in a flash of moments for getting the blame for something he has not done, rather what he did was to prevent some bad that is going to happen but instead all the price it paid is to stay away from his known life. (parents, love, home, name) What not!? Everything.
He needs to leave the place, or else his life is at stake. Thereby, his journey starts to search for a home. He gets some help from a foreigner by which he receives forged documents and changes his whole identity and starts to travel and explore many countries.
Days, months, years, decades pass by for his search. Will he come back to his place? Will he settle in another country? Will he be able to forget his love and move on? What happens to the person whom he was in love with? Will they both meet ever after?

The language is crisp and clear.
The book talks about many emotions that we experience in life.
One gets connected to it and can't stop till the end as the story hooks you to the core.
It's simply beautiful ❤️

This book is marvellous! The story is quite painful.
It goes around a guy in his twenties, Salik from Kashmir, who is mistakenly identified as a terrorist, and is about to be killed by some authorities. A well-wisher helps him escape the prison but he's still a fugitive and can't go back to his parents and his beloved Fatimah.
He meets a few helpful people, works at odd jobs, makes a living alone, missing everything he had to leave behind, and being grateful for his new life and he never loves another woman. Fatimah marries someone after fighting with her family for eight years but has to be seperated because she coudnn't love anyone else like she loved Salik.

This story is a painful account written in two POVs of two lovers as the destiny seperates them. Salik returns to Kashmir 49 years later, and finally gets to meet his Fatimah.

I find the book great but the cover and it's title could have been better.

Book Classification ( fiction)
Book pages 145
Book Cost (kindle) 170
Book Star 3/5

The story takes you to Srinagar, Kashmir where a young boy name Salik has his own ambition from life and spends it with Fatima gets caught in some misfortunate incident and labeled as a terrorist. The incident forces him to leave Kashmir in the hope that he will return soon and everything will be normal. He worked odd jobs to survive, During this time he unravels the mystery. This book is a mix of philosophy and fiction, It is also Beginner-friendly written in a simple and smooth language.

Although with a lot of controversial topics written the author remains to be unbiased and made no political remark that was highly commendable. This book for me was a story of hope written from the perspective of two lovers. It was a story of love and hope to me.

This book was a nice read, because I never read such books before. This concept was a different yet awesome.
This book is full of suspense. The story was great. I loved the way author had written.

The story is all about our protagonist, Salik. The whole life after his age of twenty(20) changed. Upside down was a daily battle for him.
He lost his family, he lost his love, he lost everything. But why?
The reason was he was blamed which he dint committed. Now to save his own life his recreated his life with new identity, new journey. From there his journey of travelling from one place to another in search of a home started.

What will happen? Will he get a home?
In this story reference and description of some places are also given which will kind of help you to get knowledge.

Know more about his journey. Read this book.
Happy reading....

This one was a tragic book. I don't get emotional that kuch...no matter how
tragic the book or the movie is. But this one I felt because it's based on a situation which has been true since so many years.
There are two point of views, one of Salik and one of Fatimah. From the start this book had me engaged with the story. There were tragedies, there were sorrows and tye book was full of emotions. Salik's view told about the fight a person has to go when such thing happen. You get to go on a philosophical journey with him which will surely teach you many aspects about the life. And then there's Fatimah's point of view which shows the struggle of a girl for her love. Loved this book. No more words needed.

Good work by the Author.

The hardest part of living is to live with the knowledge of our fleetingness,to know that everything we love will melt away with time .

This is an emotional tale of love , separation , longing and lost home. Salik and Fathima have spent their life together as lovers but life takes a drastic turn when Salik is mistakenly identified as terrorist and sent to jail.

He escaped from jail and travels to places for a living.

The book has been narrated by both of it's protagonist and the story has Beautifully described the nature ,the valleys of Kashmir. It felt so good to travel those places while sitting under my blanket. I loved how author has talked about various life experiences and philosophies along with the main story. This book is for everyone.
