It’s been a while since I read a book written by Sandi Lynn, the Forever Series is one of my all time favorites still to this day. Honestly I stopped reading her books because they got a little too fluffy for me. The Ring sounded interesting and I’ve been in such a terrible book funk lately so I decided to give it a try and I’m glad I did.
Adalyn lives in Seattle and she goes on a dream vacation to Antigua with her boyfriend of three years, Stephen. While scuba diving she finds a beautiful expensive ring with an inscription — “TO MY DARLING MARY, MY SOULMATE FOR LIFE”
Two weeks after returning home from vacation her life does a complete one eighty and goes to shit. It’s her birthday, she gets fired from her job, goes home to discover Stephen packing all his stuff. He’s met another woman who he claims he’s in love with and he’s leaving her. Just when she thinks things can’t possibly get worse her apartment building burns to the ground and she loses everything.
She moves in with her best friend, Carly and her husband, Daniel. When Daniel’s grandma comes for dinner and hears everything that’s happened to Adalyn she tells her to get rid of the ring immediately. The ring is a symbol of true love. It was given to Mary by her soulmate and it’s not meant to be worn by anyone else.
Adalyn doesn’t feel right disposing of the ring or selling it and cursing someone else so she decides she’ll find Mary and return her ring. The name of the designer is on the inside of the ring, he owns a shop in NYC so she books a flight there.
Harrison Grant is 30 years old, he has a twin sister named Athena and together they run the family business, Infinity Luxury Hotels. He is a very troubled man who carries around a lot of guilt and thinks he isn’t worthy of love.
When Adalyn arrives in New York City the book really takes off and pulls the reader in with every page until the very end. This book was sweet but it also had a bit of mystery and some angst which helped to remind me why I liked Sandi’s books in the first place.
