Ember is an ordinary witch until she discovers her full potential. Will she be able to hold onto the love that walks into her life or will the evil Poison Apple Coven take her AngelWitchy coven down?
My name is Jessica Samuels.I am an author addicted to caffeine, and I have imaginary friends that keep me up at night begging for me to tell their story. I love writing in my spare time a long with reading books since I have been an avid reader since elementary school.
I'd like to thank Booktasters for this opportunity.
When I saw this was book two, I knew I had to read book one first, which was surprisingly quick to read. For this one, it was quick as well. A little too fast paced for me. Even though there are eleven chapters, only the first seven are the actual story. Chapters 8 and 9 are repeats from the first book. After that, it's just confusing as to who the narrator is, especially the last chapter.
One of the things I liked was how Syphon is a spider shifter, which was unexpected. It took a turn which I wasn't expecting.
For the characters, it felt like I was reading Angeline and Felix's story again, but different. Felix and Syphon are described the same way by Angel and Ember. The main characters in both are working in stores, retail or a restaurant. It even seems like Ember hates working where she does, but doesn't mention how much she hates it as much as Angel did.
I like the idea fo this, but it is so fast paced, it's like you blink and it's done. I would love more detail in the descriptions. I want to picture the location, but I can't because it's lacking.
There are stories that trap you from the beginning and won´t let you go until you finish it. "Ember" is one of them. I inmediately liked the main character, named Ember, and her story. Jessica Samuels is very talented, and I Will read her again in the future.
Ember is the main character of the story. She is a Young with who works as a bartender to earn some money. A lovely witch who is strong, sweet and smart. She is heart-broken after her now ex-boyfriend leaves her for another. One night, she meets Syphon, a spider shifter who is going through the same situation. His girlfriend has abandoned him, so he wants to drink. They both connect from the start, and very son they realice they are meant for each other. They Will have to fight together against the bad witches who want Ember dead.
Read it! I like this short book due to its sweetness and the chemistry between the main couple. I like paranormal stories. This one has vampires, witches, angels and shifters. Jessica Samules was very original choosing the animals for the shifters, like spiders and Scorpions. There is nothing I woild change from this lovely novel. I read it very fast the first time,so I read it again so that I could review it and enjoy every detail.
This is not my usual genre, although I'm open to reading almost anything. I also really like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so Urban Fantasy isn't a stretch for me to read.
I liked a lot of the concepts in Ember, and it is clear that the author, Jessica Samuels, has a brilliant imagination.
The plot, too, was fairly decent. It just needed a lot more fleshing out. The same is true of the characters. They were interesting, but I felt they needed a lot more development for me to be able connect more strongly with them.
I feel that readers of Urban Fantasy will find a lot to interest them in this book - from witches, to magical artifacts to various supernatural species. It's certainly worth a look.
To the author, I want to say: keep going! Keep developing, refining, exploring. Perhaps take more time in describing and explaining and building up. You have a lot of potential!
i was very excited to read this book because i love to read romance novels and this one was bit different as it was not about humans . I would like to thank Booktasters for making this possible . Jessica you have done amazing job i mean best part about this book was that it was very quick to read , language was goods i came to know about a lot of new words but i feel u could have added few more things to it and could have played a little more with ember and sypon because the plot was so good ...it made me think more but it ended too soon and those who haven't read part 1 can also read it i was totally connected with the characters though out . After 7 chapter it was confusing and kind of i felt disconnected ... it takes time for me to come out of one book so i felt little disconnected at the last. Overall nice book u can read it ,very good for those who like to read short novels.
I didn't really know anything about this book before picking it up and getting started on it. Number One: I loved that it was super short, it made it very easy to get through. So if your looking for a quick book to just plow through in a few days or don't have a lot of time to read this one is perfect.
I think this was a super cool concept of Angle witches. It was definitely an interesting make-up like a crossbreed between angles and witches. We could have had way more of the lore on this. I enjoyed the nod to the bad witches coven being called a "Poison Apple."
I actually received this book for review from the author and from Booktasters over on Twitter. So huge thank you to both of them for sending me this book for review.
So I loved this book. Its a nice fantasy book with lots of nice elements. I think the writer made lots of bold choices with the species in the book. I mean Spider shifters? Scorpion shifters? Love children of witches and archangels? I loved the creativity. I just wish the writer had taken some more time, to truly explore these concepts, especially as they are unfamiliar ones. It truly did take me back to my wattpad reading days.
Nice Fantasy book, I wished if there were more, had to read it twice to enjoy it, to be honest. wished the writer slowed down so I can enjoy the charisma of every personality and character. I love everything that is related to angels and witches and fairy stories. The writer is very creative, this is precisely why I want more. Recommending this read to everyone.
This book was very amazing! As I was reading through this, I got more and more interested in it that I thought I was watching a movie. I may reread this book again just to feel the energy and excitement in this book. If there is more, I'd love to read those as well.
