CASEY
I’ve been putting my son first for so long that I’ve forgotten how to be me. Each monotonous day bleeds into the next, and I feel like I’m struggling to keep my head above water.
But a kiss at the top of a Ferris wheel with a man I barely know changes that.
Jay reminds me that I used to be bold. Vivacious. Funny.
Strong.
Now if only I could convince him his past mistakes don’t define the man he is today.

JAY
I can perform over a dozen illusions with a simple sleight of hand, but I can’t make the felony on my record disappear.
The last thing I should be doing is hanging around a young single mom and her kid.
But Casey doesn’t know that I’ve been watching her. That I want her for myself. That I’m addicted to her dimples, her tenacity, her fierce love for her child.
If I was a better man, I’d leave her alone, but she pulls off the biggest magic trick of all time: making me believe I’m a good guy.

Magic Man is the newest addition to The Good Guys series by Jamie Schlosser. Of course, this is the first book I’ve read of this series but I loved it so much that I already have purchased the previous books in the series and plan to start at the beginning. Each book can be read as a stand alone.

Casey Maxwell didn’t plan to follow in her mother’s footsteps and end up pregnant at sixteen years old. But she fell for a smooth talking bad boy who was now in prison. Now at age eighteen, she has a toddler, a job at the diner, and is barely keeping her head above water. Still, if she could do it all over again, she wouldn’t change a thing because she loves her little Gus with all her heart. She’s determined to be the best mom possible.

“There was something about Jay that made me feel safe. There was so much kindness in his eyes.”

Jay Langston admits he made bad choices. Choices that he has paid for. He now has a record as a convicted felon. The only job he’s been able to find since he got out is as a magician for the local carnival. It seems no one wants to hire a man with a record. He first saw Casey right before he got arrested. He thought about her every day he was in prison. He knew she was pregnant, knew who the loser father was. He also knew he could never be good enough for her. But that didn’t keep him from watching her, dreaming of her. Jay can only go so long before he gives in to his addiction to Casey and they meet. She remembers him and seems drawn to him. But Jay knows he could never be the right man for her, for her son. They deserve so much more.

“How many good deeds would I have to do before I felt like I’d made up for my past? I didn’t know the answer, but at least I was one step closer to redemption.”

Jay and Casey fill a void for each other. Jay reminds Casey how to be more than just Gus’s mom. And Casey helps Jay to find a peace he hadn’t felt for so long. She gives him hope that somehow he is worth redemption.

“She made the impossible my reality.”

“The highest high didn’t compare to the euphoria of being with the love of my life.”

This was such a wonderful book. It was filled with so much hope. You couldn’t help but to love these two. They’d both been given such unfair circumstances in their lives. Casey’s optimism, drive, and faith were so amazing. Still, the road isn’t going to be an easy one for either of them. Jay clearly worshiped Casey. But he had such a struggle with his own self worth. I have to say, though, that I loved the dirty talking, sexy side to him. I loved the bond that formed between he and Gus as well. Don’t even get me started on this adorable little boy.

I so enjoyed going on this journey with this little family. As I said, I plan to go back to the beginning of the series. You can purchase the books individually or there is also The Good Guys Box Set which has the first three books plus a novella which is what I got. Now, every time I see a magician do a magic trick, I’m going to think of Jay and this book.

“I gotta tell you now
Something's gotten hold of my hand
Dragging my soul to a beautiful land
Something has invaded my mind
Painting my sleep with a colour so bright
Changing the grey and changing the blue
Scarlet for me and scarlet for you” M. Almond & G. Pitney

This was a greatly beautiful romantic story❣️❣️❣️

Jay had made bad choices when he was younger, but now he was a new person and melted my heart throughout the story.
Casey was a very strong young single mother, trying her best for her son - Gus.
Jay and Casey were dealt with a bad hand, but together they could make their dreams come true!
And Gus!! The most adorable baby that stole the show!!!
All three main characters held me engrossed and had me captivated.

So beautifully written, I felt everything! Their struggles, their insecurities, their faith and hope, their love. They simply belonged to each other! It didn’t matter they had no extra money, they were sufficient with what they could have.
The development was amazing, regarding the plot, the characters and their relationship, and the emotional connection was deep.

Pure magic...💞

Jay Langston, 22, is a reformed drug dealer trying to make amends for his mistakes. Single mom Casey Maxwell, 18, is just trying to get by and raise her young son on her own. (Dad is Mackenna’s psycho ex from Dropout.) Though it seems like a shaky foundation to build a solid relationship on, if anyone can pull it off, it’s the magic man.

Actually if anyone can pull that off, it’s Jamie Schlosser. Full disclose, I typically pass on by romance books where either the hero or heroine has a child to someone else. But having read the author’s previous works I had a hunch she could make this work. (Spoiler alert: She does!)

The magic here is in the solid characters, strong story building, and stellar message—supporting each other and inspiring each other to be the best of yourself.

I loved how their relationship developed as they bonded and built trust. It wasn’t hinged on trite insta-anything. Instead it was two people separately isolated by their circumstances who were willing to believe in each other, be there for each other, when situations were less than ideal. Some of the most divine moments in life aren’t formed on expensive getaways or with cocky billionaires. It’s the person in the waiting room who’s there for you; it’s the inexpensive night out; or the unexpected make-out session at one in the morning.
“She looked at me like she was trying to solve a puzzle. A puzzle she wanted to fuck.”

Casey and Jay have great chemistry. Holy hotness alert! I love how their sexy times rock the down and dirty with the sweet and swoonworthy. I’ll be looking at recliners with new ideas eyes now.
“Jay’s body was like my own personal amusement park, and I couldn’t wait to go on every ride.”

Like the other heroes in this series, Jay is total book boyfriend material. I was intrigued with him during his appearance in Dropout and he didn’t disappoint.
“Holding your hand makes my dick hard. Smelling you makes my dick hard. Talking to you makes my dick hard. Thinking about you—”

Like Jimmy (who blesses us with some cameos) Jay emits that wet panty melting vibes of bad boy with heart of gold.
“The guy with the rough exterior and hard look in his eyes was our hero.”

Casey was awesome too. I’ll admit in the beginning it was hard to connect with her simply because her life was much different from mine at that age, but I quickly grew to adore her. I floved that she wasn’t a shy or virginal and held her own when she and Jay got sweaty.

“I made her strong and wild.”

Told via their alternating first person POV, Magic Man is a feel-good romance with some life’s hard knocks twists but nothing angsty. There were a few moments that stung my own eyes, but the best line to bring a giggle to my throat:
“Pickles.”

Safety Recap:

P.S. Sorry (#NotSorry) to anyone who now has the Chili Pepper's "Soul to Squeeze" stuck in your head. It would make a great song for Jay and Casey!

5 Real-Life Challenges & Answers Stars
* * * * * Spoiler Free
Real Life is not always pretty...It can have you in situations that will test your strength and courage. The chances of us experiencing relationships with secret billionaires, surprise inheritance, or some glamorous outcome could be classified as slim to none. We read many books with all of those premises. They are fun. They can take you away from the stress of the day...and I happen to thoroughly enjoy them.

But sometimes reading something which reflects the reality of the day...which has the characters overcome serious obstacles without all the Pretty and Fancy can be even more impactful. It reassures us we have the ability within to be strong, focused, and find love.

Jamie Schlosser's Magic Man does all of this and more. It gives us a romance that will grip you and hold you enthralled.

I was captured by the blurb. It was all I had before starting this.
I will share New Age range stories are usually not something I read. Being young and learning through the challenges of these periods has a certain range. This story, however, had people who had lived so much for their years... and rose above what they had endured. They were unique to their lives, strong in the desire to do better, and through this romance, they were so identifiable. Many out there in RL have the same obstacles to overcome. This took those common issues, gave us people who were endearing and who we could root for.

As I updated, I started this late at night and was forced to stop around 3:30 AM as work called the next day. I highly recommend this incredibly sweet love story.

I've read a couple of the books in The Good Guys series now and what I've enjoyed the most has been the character focus of the stories and how genuinely great the main characters are. Even when they might see it for themselves, which is very much the case in this one.

Jay met Casey very briefly before he went to prison for a couple of years, but he's thought of her constantly since he was gone and he checks on her once he's out. But he also tries to keep his distance because he's made numerous mistakes in his past so he doesn't think he's a good guy. Casey is a single, teen mom making ends meet and doing everything she can for her young son (who's just the adorablest). Jay doesn't stay hidden for long, thankfully, and he's perfect for Casey (and Gus). There was so much to enjoy here as these two had an instant connection and brought so much to the relationship for each other. This book was sweet, steamy, funny at times, tear-jerking others, and it had a sweet ending and epilogue a couple years in the future.

There was no other woman/man drama. I also appreciated that Ms. Schlosser brought attention to the struggles of ex-cons finding work once released from prison.

Another fabulous book in the Good Guys series! This one features Jay, an ex-con who works as a magician at the local carnival, and Casey, the teen mom who we met in the last book. This love story is sweet, with a touch of angst. I loved little Gus, and his obsession with jewelry and all things princess. So freaking cute! Even better–neither Casey nor Jay try to push him towards expressing gender norms. LOVED that about this book!

Wooooooooooow. All the stars. There is a reason that I am dubbed a Jamie Schlosser Super Fan and this book shows exactly why I am. I floved this book so much, it pulled my heart in the best possible ways. I felt every single emotion that these two felt. When they laughed, I laughed, when they cried, I cried, I mean every single emotion. I was on the same journey as they were, and it felt amazing. Honestly, I can’t even put into words how this book made me feel, but since I am already a Jamie Schlosser Super Fan, and I think this was her best book….I feel like that really says it all. By now everyone knows that Ezra from Outcast is mine (there are pics on social media), these two rivaled, and dare I say passed Ezra and Kayla for me. I know, I know, I can’t even. There are no words in this review that will possibly do this book justice. I will write my review, but I won’t be able to put into words how phenomenal I thought this book really was.

Casey and Jay meet in unusual circumstances, and he does a great thing, fast forward 2 years. This is an emotional journey of two soulmates that are down on their luck and working through their obstacles together. So many hurdles this young couple faces, but they face them head on. This was a safe read. No om or ow shenanigans, just two madly in love people trying to find their hea. He tries to push her away…that last about a hot second. Their chemistry was amazing, so was the love they felt for each other. My advice, have a box of tissues, I cried like the baby I am. All the first love feels and so many more. This book and these two were everything. Not since Ezra do I think that Jamie has written a male that will make your ovaries ache and you fall in love with the perfect book boyfriend. Jay is really everything, put he and Casey together and this book was everything. These two have my heart for sure, and I guarantee I won’t be the only one. We also get to catch up with some favorites, Jimmy and McKenna, while gaining some new favorites. There was a sweet epilogue and hea. Truly one of the best books I’ve read this year. Congratulations Jamie Schlosser, this book truly was magical....and I probably won’t have room for all the Bitmoji’s😉.

I’m ambivalent about this one. When I crack the cover of a book of fiction, I’m practically begging the author to manipulate me. Yes, please, manipulate me into believing in your characters, their problems, their feelings, the circumstances surrounding them. But it’s one thing to be manipulated; it’s a whole other thing to be aware you’re being manipulated.

And I was aware. I struggled to fully believe, in spite of appealing characters and wonderfully detailed emotional scenes.

Jay was too good to be true. In spite of his past as a drug dealer and user and his stint in prison, he’s practically a saint. We see him struggle to find employment because of his record, and we see him struggle with being “good enough.” But he’s all in with Casey and Gus, he’s instinctually the most devoted lover and best father figure ever born, and it’s both incredibly endearing and without adequate foundation.

Same with Casey. She’s the most conscientious 18-year-old single mother who ever lived, and the author made me believe in her resourcefulness and her devotion to her child. But how fortuitous that someone anonymously gave her $5000 when she needed it most for a home that luckily came up for sale at the same time. How wonderful that a next-door neighbor was willing to look after her son for $5 a day. How incredibly lucky that she was being stalked by a wonderful, self-sacrificing man . Conversely, have so many tragedies ever befallen anyone in such a short span of time, conveniently attaching the reader’s sympathy and allowing Jay to shine as her hero each and every time?

So I felt the heavy hand of the author in this story, and still enjoyed it in spite of that. I would have enjoyed more realism even more.

I don’t know with this book.

I understand that he’s a better man now. Clean. Has done his stint in jail. He deserves a life for himself. But the facts remain...

“Says the dozens of dealers I sold drugs to. Says the thousands who are now addicted, passed out in a gutter somewhere because of me. Addiction ruins futures. Ends marriages. It even kills people.“

He was both an abuser of drugs and a seller, so it was a double edged sword. The trade being passed down by his dad and money being made due to his derelict financial situation.

It’s still blood money. He did that to other people. This isn’t an anti-hero kind of book, it’s not meant to be dark, it’s not meant to have questionable morals. So I was quite on the fence on my feelings towards him because he can’t erase what he did. Probably got kids hooked who are now dead. This isn’t a simple case of flinging some weed. He definitely got off lightly even if he was remorseful. 2 years isnt a lot, men have been charged far worse for the same crime.

Moving on, romance wise, it was sweet. He’s been obsessed with Casey since he found out she was pregnant by an abusive man. She was 16, and he was 20. He then did his two years in jail. Returned, immersed himself in their lives. Helps them. They fall in love. Then he has a horrible epiphany that he will ruin her life, and leaves. Returns after a week. Happy times. It’s safe.

Could’ve done with more grovel, but cute epilogue with her getting preggars again.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!
I could not wait for this book!!
It had everything I needed and more.

These good guys keep getting better and better.

We first met Jay in Dropout (book 3). He wasn’t making the best decisions and needed some serious redeeming. The author did not disappoint!

I’m amazed at how quickly I fell for these characters. By the end of the prologue , I already loved Jay.
By the end of chapter one, I already cared for Casey and wanted to be her best friend.

This story, so beautifully written, held me captive the entire time. I wanted to crawl into the pages and be there.

I wanted to share that recliner with Jay.
I wanted to feed him that funnel cake.
I wanted to ride the ferris wheel with him.
I wanted him to love MY knees.

The way he cares for Casey’s son, Gus is heartwarming.
The love he has for Casey is fierce.
His protectiveness of her and Gus was downright swoonworthy.
The way he wants to right all his wrongs and make better choices is admirable.

And the dirty talking??
All the tingles.
Yes. Please.

During many of the scenes, Gus pretty much stole the show. His adorableness grabbed ahold of my heart and squeezed and made me want to kiss his little face. He’s a perfect character for this story. LOVED him!

This story has all the feels I love in a well-written book. It’s full of struggles and happiness and accomplishments and heartbreak and sadness and feel-good moments and swoony heart flutters and so much passion!

This comes highly recommended by me.
Do the other books in the series need to be read first to love this book? No.
Do I think you should read the other books? Yes. They’re equally awesome.

Jay is yet another good guy making me want to be a very bad girl.

What a read! This story is full of heart and demonstrates a fierce protectiveness that makes me melt.

Casey is an AMAZING young mom that has a resiliency that is so impressive. Her love for her baby boy is so beautiful. She is living a life of poverty and hard work.

Jay is an amazing shining star to this already emotional story. His feelings of unworthiness break my heart. He has done his time and owns the choices of his youth. When he returns, how he quietly watches over Casey and her son is wonderful.

I love these two together and the sweet baby that ties them together in their dedication to creating a better life. It isn’t an easy road and insecurities interfere on several occasions.

I am still experiencing all the feels of this read. This book truly is about a good guy even if he doesn’t identify himself as such. He truly is magic in so many ways.

Magic Man is five star worthy and a touching addition to The Good Guys Series. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

Dreaming Of A Family

An incredible romance that brings you through the harsh reality of life. This story will break your heart and then make you believe in good guys and second chances.

He’s a former felon working to move forward and not be defined by his past. She’s a young, single mother trying to make ends meet and break the cycle of poverty to give for her son more than she had.

Jay never really had a choice when it came to Casey, because once he saw her, his life was forever changed. She was his rainbow. His reason for becoming a better man.

Everyone deserves a second chance. Jay was working on making a new life for himself after some mistakes. He’s a good guy. Moving forward is challenging but forgiving yourself for your past is the bigger obstacle. Casey always knew he was worth loving, Jay just needed to believe it.

Casey is strong and determined. Her life has not been easy but it has never stopped her from being the best mom to her son, Gus. She does the best she can. Once Jay comes into her life, she finally has someone else to share her burdens.

There are ups and downs. There is romance, some really intense chemistry and a love that is all-consuming. There is loss and heartache. It’s the perfect mix for a beautiful love story. Enjoy Jay’s story. He truly is a good guy and you’ll love him and his dirty mouth.

5 Cranky Stars

I just want to sprinkle powder sugar on Jay and lick it off him then slap his scruffy handsome face for breaking my heart. Ok breaking Casey’s heart but that’s neither here nor there. I thought surely you can’t love someone as much as you love Travis and boy was I wrong. He’s a magic man mama!

Jay has made some bad decisions in his life and done the time for it. His one act before he went to the slammer was gifting money to Casey because he knew her life was about to get hard. Now that he’s back out his thoughts of Casey and the baby are on his mind so he heads back to see if she is still around and decides to watch from afar. I know creepy right but seriously he had good intentions and Jay was just trading one addiction for another when it came to Casey. He invites her to the fair where he works and it’s here they share a passionate kiss on a ferris wheel while Jay breaks his bank trying to win Gus a shiny new ring. This is their turning point a chance for Jay to prove to himself that he is worthy of love and having a family.

Casey is teen mom. She was so starved for attention it made her easy pray to August Michael’s sperm donor (seriously he doesn’t deserve the title of father or dad). When Jay shows up on her doorstep with cash in hand she is kind of freaked out but accepts it anyway. Anything to help her get ahead right? Now it’s some time later and she’s burning the candle at both ends because being a single mom is hard and her mother isn’t much help either. When mysterious tickets to the fair show up, she decides that maybe her and Gus need some fun in their life. When she receives help from Jay she strikes up a conversation with him and that sparks something in Casey that she thought was long gone. When tragedy strikes Jay is her hero and she learns that maybe it’s ok to lean on someone else from time to time. Now if only she can convince him he is worthy of her and he is her future?

Dag nabbit Jay!! Why?? Seriously though I think out of all the books this one tops them all. It’s not all magic and perfect. It’s gritty and real. He’s a convicted felon just trying to make something of his life. They don’t have really any money and it’s a day to day life. There are no magical mountains of endless money but there is love and devotion. That’s all you really need in life. We also get to see Jimmy and Mac and their precious one. Gus be still my beating heart. I do at times miss those little moments that made your kid quirky and Gus has quirks. His bucket of jewelry made him a pirate it seemed. I mean who doesn’t love jewelry and shiny things? Also, that moment at the end in the yard! MY PICKLES!! I died laughing. Magic Man is about the struggles and heartache about finding your lobster and making a magical life with just the slightest of hand and quick thinking. “I’ll always choose you, Casey. On accident. On purpose. Everyday.” Sigh If that doesn’t make you want to read this book then why the heck not? Go! Take the crazy lady behind the blog’s advice and run don’t walk to read this one!

Long list of what I love about this book. First off - it’s a stand-alone but I absolutely recommend reading the others because they’re great. Total re-reads. Our Hero starts off making some pretty bad mistakes in his young life and he’s off to prison, but before he goes he begins his path to redemption. Over the course of the book we see his determination to right his wrongs and that’s refreshing. Jay is the embodiment of light, hope and determination and at the same time so is our heroine, just in a different way. Casey is a very young mother but she’s the kind that gives us all hope in the future of our youth. She’s extremely strong even when she feels like crumbling and that really resonated with me. The book has personal life touches from the author that add to its authenticity and charm. I think this entire series of Good Guys could be summed up with those adjectives, authentic and charming. While I’m at it, I’d add in hot and funny because there is that too. And I think what I love most about this series is that it follows average people, not billionaires or moguls or movie stars. Just regular people finding their way to a simple and fulfilling life. It’s that which makes me feel warm when I’m done reading. It’s that simplicity that has me smiling when I finish the final chapter and thinking of the characters long after. Not that I wouldn’t love to see the author write a really wealthy character, because if anyone can write a grounded billionaire - it’s her, but there seems to be few books out there that include the average working person or someone who lives at the poverty line and I love cheering for these most relatable underdogs. It’s a safe read that’s full of heat, charm, endearing characters, moments that made me laugh, cry and swoon. One of my best reads of the year for sure!

I’m 100% sure that I wouldn’t like my daughters dating a ex drug user and a drug dealer. If he was a good man in the first place he wouldn’t have sold drugs and where does he sell these drugs and to whom? Schools and children?
Hard pass! Don’t care how much safe this book is or how “amazing” reviews said this man is.

‘The good guys’ series is one of my favourite new adult series, so I’m always excited and happy when a new book comes out. And I was especially intrigued about this story because we already met Jay in the third book ‘Dropout’. In that story we met Jay as a friend of Jimmy (the main man character in that story). Sadly, in that story Jay is involved with drugs and he got even Jimmy in trouble with it. But in the end he did the right thing and took the blame for what happened. So I was really curious how the writer would transform this ‘bad’ boy into a ‘good’ guy.

But Jay isn’t the only one we met in that book. Casey was also in it. She was the young girl who got mislead by a really bad guy and even got pregnant by him.

So here we got two young people who had a difficult start in life and were trying their hardest to make a better life for themselves. That isn’t always easy but they will discover that it is easier when you have someone at your side. Someone to hold you and love you.

‘Magic man’ is a great story. I enjoyed it very much. You don’t have to read the previous books in this series to read this one. The story is told in both POV’s. I loved Jay and Casey very much. They are both strong, intelligent people and they have a good heart. You really felt that they belonged together. And Casey’s son Gus was so cute! He really brought something special to the story. This story really touched me. You could really feel the longing of both Jay and Casey to be good, to make the best of the situation that they lived in. To be a better person and to fight to give Gus a better future.

I hope that the writer decides to writes more books in this series.

❤~🌟~❤ 5 MAJESTIC STARS! ❤~🌟~❤

“Sometimes we don’t get to choose who we love.”

MAGIC MAN left me completely and utterly transfixed!

Fact: I simply cannot get enough of Jamie Schlosser’s Good Guys series! And I am a SUCKER for a heart wrenching redemption tale. So, when I discovered that MAGIC MAN revolves around an ex-felon turner carnival magician who is looking for atonement—and becomes an unlikely white knight to a sweet and sassy single mom, I was already riding that cotton candy induced high!

THE PREMISE:
Casey Maxwell got knocked up at 16 by a psycho creep who’s now serving time behind bars. Now the struggling single mom is trying each and every day to keep her head above water for the sake of Gus, her adorable little toddler. But Jay Langston, the mysterious blue-eyed stranger who she once had serendipitous encounter with, is about to change all that...

After one of the worst nights of her life two years earlier, Jay unexpectedly showed up on her doorstep determined to do one last good deed before his sins caught up with him. And even though both their lives veered on drastically different directions after that point, Jay obsessed over the sweet, achingly beautiful young woman every day while he was incarcerated . Now he’s out and on a quest to make amends for the past and pave a good honest future for himself. However, landing a job with his record as a convicted felon has been an uphill battle until he gets hired as a magician at a local carnival. His good fortune seems to be improving on all fronts when he stealthily works behind the scenes to spread some magic to Casey’s humdrum life.

Sparks fly when the hardworking single mom crosses paths with Jay at the carnival after he heroically helps her avert a crisis involving Gus. Turns out she never forgot him either. And as they embark on a night of fun together she finds herself hopelessly attracted to this reformed bad boy with the heart of gold whose been secretly watch over her and her little boy. But as much as Jay is drawn to Casey and feels a powerfully protective bond toward baby Gus , deep down he feels he can never be good enough for them. But Casey and Jay’s magnetic connection is more hypnotic than any magical sleight of hand he could ever perform! Can Casey give her Magic Man the courage to finally lay his demons to rest, and can he, in turn, offer her the solace, sanctuary and love that she’s been seeking all her life?

MY MUSINGS:
MAGIC MAN is the kind of WONDEROUS, WILDLY ADDICTIVE romance that you devour. Revel in. And sigh over long after the last page is turned! The angsty feels were off the charts, the hot sexy times nearly made my Kindle burst into flames, and the romance was so sweet and profoundly touching it left me in a starry-eyed stupor!

This fifth Good Guys novel, which was told in dual POV, was a marvelously crafted romance that’s chock full of warm fuzzies, homespun charm, scorching sexual tension, stellar character development, and interlaced throughout is a really powerful, uplifting message about the healing power of love and forgiveness.

From start to finish, MAGIC MAN is brimming with so much poignancy and passion, juicy small-town drama and oodles of bittersweet emotion! This author never fails to write the most endearing, relatable characters that tug at your heartstrings and such is the case with Jay and Casey. Neither of them has had an easy life, but they are SO DESERVING of a second chance at happiness! Sighhhhh…if two kindred spirits were ever meant to find each other, it’s these two. On their own they were lost and isolated and just trying to put one foot in front of the other. But together the brass ring was finally within their grasp!

Even though their romance is quite the whirlwind, the author does a great job with the slow build of this relationship, taking her time with these wonderfully nuance characters and allowing them to find their footing as a couple as they strive for a better life without rushing anything for the sake of convenience. They fill an aching void in each other’s lives and together their broken pieces make a perfectly imperfect whole. And not only do they offer each other kindness and acceptance, love and devotion and lift each other up through thick and thin, but their interaction with little Gus was just absolutely enchanting!

And while the hero’s feelings of worthlessness and self-loathing did make my chest ache many times, I so admire how he takes full accountability for his wrongdoings and is committed to being a better man. One who is worthy of being loved by this incredible woman and child. And, for the record, Jay is the TOTAL BBF package for me. He’s sweet, charismatic, gruffly sexy, gentle-hearted and WOWZA can this deliciously broody Good Guy talk filthy in the heat of the moment! But this poor chap has a mighty bumpy road ahead of him filled with potholes galore! And fair warning, if you can’t resist a big, tatted, manly man who becomes a total softie in the presence of a lovely lady and her tiny little boy then prepare for some ovary exploding goodness!

As for Casey, oh my, what a fiercely devoted single mom and adoring and supportive girlfriend she was. She too has had some hard knocks in her life that took a toll on her self-esteem, but I admire a strong, resilient heroine who “takes life by the balls” and this is exactly the kind of heroine we have in Casey. She is sweet and bubbly, kind and compassionate, ferociously loyal and loving, and I simply adored her as much as Jay did!

The supporting cast is also incredible, and one of my favorite parts things about this series are the appearances of familiar faces from previous installments! Especially love the Jimmy and Mackenna cameos!

BOTTOM LINE:
MAGIC MAN was absolutely magnificent…and in my opinion Jamie Schlosser’s most POWERFUL AND PROVOCATIVE story to date! The riveting roller coaster ride that Jay and Casey embarked on together with baby Gus made me gush and cry, smile and swoon, and just feel so darn EUPHORIC! And the HEA is pure perfection! Ultimately, this heartwarming tale proves that everyone deserves a chance at redemption and that the greatest magic of all is loving yourself and those around you….and embracing happiness with all your might!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I liked this book. It’s not too big on drama, heavy on the love, but I like that. Its sweet while still being hot.
Casey is a strong single mother trying to do her best.
Gus is adorable and I liked that he wasn’t bound by gender norms here.
Jay was great. I’m a sucker for characters with flaws and bad pasts. I loved seeing him with Gus especially.
As I said, this book isn’t heavy on drama, but isn’t all hearts and flowers either. It’s real and I like that. If you want something real, this is the book for you!

This magic man had one huge ace up his sleeve and he stole my heart. Jay's wish for a family and the one he created with Casey touched my heart. His love and caring, her strength and sweetness, and little Gus-Gus's jewelry fascination (the kid is right up my alley) made this heart-warming story sing.

I simply adored this book! One thing you can always count on with Jamie’s books is feeling the events and characters emotions all the way to your soul and trust me Magic Man is no different. I laughed, cried, smiled and so much more right along with Casey, Jay and little Gus. The storyline will warm your heart, break it a time or two and piece it back together. I have no doubt that the various events of the storyline have touched us all in one way or another in our own lives and the authors handling of these events was simply magical.

Casey is a single mom struggling to make ends meet and be a good mom to her son, Gus. Jay is a guy who is obsessed with her (not in a creepy way) but doesn’t think he’s good enough for her so he stays in the shadows, watching over her and Gus. Jay has spent time in prison and knows Casey and Gus can do so much better than him. But one little kiss on top of the Ferris Wheel changes both their lives. But are those changes good or bad or possibly a little of both?

Traveling along with these three as the storyline unfolded was an emotional treat. Kudos to the author for a great addition to the Good Guys Series. I highly recommend Magic Man and give it 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Amazing Stars.

5 wonderful stars!!

This is another “Good Guy” novel and I think it may be my favorite!! This can be read as a stand alone.

Casey~ I’m just a young soon to be mom trying to make a change. But I will never forget the mysterious “Magic Man”...

Jay~ I knew the minute I saw her that I will never forget her. Too bad I’m a junkie about to go to the slammer...

Omg I love this book. First of all, junkie or not Jay is my absolute favorite!! Casey is one kick ass mom. And these two together?!?! Brilliant!!

This is life. This is relatable. This is real. I felt this. I may not have lived this exact life but everyone has experienced something similar to what these two went through. Who doesn’t love a book that is so damn real?!!!

Jay is amazing. Funny. Magical. Sexy. Selfless. Perfect. Did I mention hot?!?! I think he is the ultimate good guy. Him and Gus is beautiful. Gus is so damn cute. And bravo to these two for embracing all that Gus is and just let him be him.

This author wrote a easy flowing book, that had some real life problems, lots of laughs, great characters (great to see Jimmy and MacKenna again), and a HEA. This is a quick read and one you will not want to put down!!

**I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.**

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

Its been a while since I wanted to REALLY savor a book, but Magic Man is...was LIFE CHANGING! Sincerely sweet, hot as hell and completely and irrevocably heart AND soul melting, Magic Man was EVERY-EFFING-THING!

Jay is the BEST hero yet! His undeniable protective nature and thoughtfulness mixed with his jaw dropping good looks make him the most SWOON worthy hero I have ever met. He captured my heart from the VERY beginning to the VERY end. And Casey...she is incredibly strong, resilient, Self sufficient and has one amazing heart. I really liked her! Jay and Casey were PERFECT and their story transformed me. There was so much sexiness and sweetness and there was some really heart wrenching moments that had me bursting into tears! This is my new #1 Good Guys story! Jamie Schlosser SERIOUSLY outdid herself with Magic Man. I am in LOVE with it and honestly am having a hell of a time trying to put ALL my feelings about this book into words. This book CAN NOT be missed!

Magic Man blew me out of the water and I give this amazing book ALL THE FREAKING STARS! A MUUUUUUUUUST READ!

Magic Man quickly became one of my favorite books of the year. Both heartbreaking and unbelievably sweet all at the same time Casey and Jay’s story not only grabs you immediately it continues to pull you deeper and deeper into the story until the world around you ceases to exist. Jamie Schlosser once again manages to deliver a story that is not only unique but full of deep emotion and some of the best romance out there with Magic Man!
Jay stole my heart immediately. Even as a self proclaimed “bad guy” his heart was bigger than most. And the way he learned and grew from his past without even realizing it made an already good man and absolutely incredible one. There are just not enough words to accurately describe how magnificent he really is. Casey was equally wonderful. They depth of her love for her son and the endless strength she had to give her son the best life possible even when it seemed the world was against her had me loving her from the start, but the way she loved Jay? It was beyond perfect.
Prepare to cry and swoon in equal parts with this read!

Magic Man was kind of magical.

Jay and Casey’s story felt real, complete with hardships, heart breaking moments and decisions, and difficult pasts. Jay originally meets Casey at a difficult point in both their lives. Jay’s about to go to prison and Casey is a pregnant teenager, discovering the truth of her boyfriend. Jay gives her some cash to help her out, and spends the next two years in prison thinking of her and worrying about her.

Upon release he does his best to check on her, from afar. A little like a stalker but in a good way!

There definitely is an element of instalove going on here; Casey and Jay’s reunion moves a little fast. But both of them have lived some difficult lives, so their maturity level is higher than you’d normally expect of an 18 and 22 year old.

Magic Man is full of chemistry, love, heartbreak, and most of all, magic.
