The subversive fiction series continues with its most lascivious and controversial issue to date. This NSFW edition takes readers to new heights within the mind and body and will leave you wondering if these writers think about anything other than sex.
This is not quite the collection of erotic fiction Medium Chill: Issue 4's designation as the NSFW issue seems to promise. Sure, there are some actual stories about sex that get explicit in a "Letters to Penthouse" sort of way, and these are a mixed bag in terms of quality. What works best here, however, are the stories that deviate from the topic of sex. Unsurprisingly, series creator Rhonda Baughman's stories stand out the most, particularly the fun "Medium Chill: Part 2", which presents a new adventure for the author's assassin alter ego Randa. I also really enjoyed the poems by Robert Beveridge and David McCoy. Scott Kenyon Barker's "Charlie@thepit" uses social media posts as a narrative device and works way better than you'd expect. My own story in the collection "Abasement" tells a dark tale of masochism in the age of Twitter outrage. All in all, it's another good collection of short independent fiction.
