This collection contains a series of nine books about Jack Addison's adventures.
“Any monster is a lover if you’re brave enough.”
Jack Addison. Son of a world famous monster hunter. Irresistible jerk. Monster-curious. Roux Chat-Bonnes. Ginger. Furry. Claws like razors and a tongue to match!
At just nineteen, Jack’s fresh out of a prestigious academy, set to make a name for himself as a monster hunter in a world where people need protection from strange and dangerous creatures.
Raised to see nonhumans as monsters to be eradicated, or at the very least—inferior beings, he soon finds out that he’s been taught lies, and his initial distrust of creatures turns into fascination that goes beyond anything his father could imagine.
After an encounter with a giant spider, Jack falls down a rabbit hole of affairs with werewolves, kitsune, a centaur, a merman, a tentacle creature called Nessie, and even a vampire!
But all of those dalliances fade in comparison to his one true heart throb—Roux Chat-Bonnes, a cat-like being, and his most vicious rival. As brave as he is infuriating, and as furry as he is sexy, Roux is the moral compass Jack wishes he didn’t have.
If he ever wants to win Roux’s heart, he needs to prove that he’s more than just a handsome jerk sneaking around with any monster he can get his hands on, but a man brave enough to do what’s right, even if it makes him unpopular. Even if that means standing up to his famous father.

K. A. Merikan is a duo of queer writers who don’t believe in following the well-trodden path. In their books you can dip your toe into dangerous romance with mafiosi, outlaw bikers and bad boys, all from the safety of your sofa. They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and in fiction. Their stories don’t shy away from exploring the darker side of M/M romance, and feature a variety of anti-heroes, rebels, misfits, and underdogs who go against the grain. Be prepared for shocking twists, dark humor, raw emotions, and sizzling hot scenes.
K.A. Merikan also writes steamy M/M romcoms as Devon Doe.
One good thing about having “reading” be your main hobby is that you finally have something to say when playing those terrible icebreaker games (the ones where they ask you what you like to do for fun). Besides, it’s a hell-of-a-lot better than saying, "I really like mason jars!" The only hang-up is that whenever people ask “Oh yeah? What are you reading at the moment?” after you say you like reading, the answer can sometimes be somewhat… embarrassing. I mean, what am I even supposed to say? “Oh you know, I'm deep into that classic Jack Addison vs. a Whole World of Hot Trouble - The Complete Series #1-9, right now.” …I’d rather just say nothing. Anyway, my shyness (and that ugly ass cover) aside, this book really was good! Good old fashioned, pure entertainment! And in addition to side-stepping what could have been an incredibly formulaic story, it also manages a surprisingly endearing love story set in an enthralling fantasy world with a lot of depth. After a while, I actually found myself more interested in the world that these characters inhabit rather than the original selling point of the book. Of course, as with most fantasy stories, some of the fantasy races are pretty heavily racially-coded, and the depictions range from respectful to a bit iffy, to say the least. For example, the werewolves of the story rely on some outdated stereotypes of Native Americans. Like, they live on a reservation and they turn into their more "animalistic" forms to let their “savage” nature out. Yeah, I wish I were lying. It wasn’t too offensive and I could very much be reading too much into it, but… I’m Native, so I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention it. Moving on though, this was a good time, and I can honestly say that it surprised me in the best kind of way. And being surprised is not something I can say often when reading these “shirtless-man-on-the-cover” books!
“You mean that? We’ll make things work?” “We will. We’re like… you know, pieces of a two-piece puzzle.”

Jack Addison vs. a Whole World of Hot Trouble is our little side project that we've been publishing in serial format on our Patreon, and now, we have compiled Jack's messy, sexy journey of self-discovery and love into one volume that clocks in at ~115,000 words.
Scorching hot, wild, with taboo themes, this book will make you shiver in the best of ways :>
As a whole - this was such a fun read! I loved seeing Jack grow as a person throughout the whole story. This got a lot more emotional and had more depth than I was expecting considering the way it started, but it made it even more enjoyable to read.
Cocky young hero who regularly puts his foot in his mouth? ✔︎ Beautiful, aloof love interest? ✔︎ Lots of wild monster sex with everything from tentacles to fur? ✔︎ Adventures all around the European and Asian continent?✔︎ An adorable monster son?✔︎ A healthy dose of social commentary and the consequences of not speaking up? ✔︎
This M/M series of stories is weird, playful, humorous, and a lot of fun. So many creatures, so little time.
I read the first story in this series, Jack Addison vs. Man-Ravishing Spider, when it was first released and I was really turned off. In that one Jack is raped by a giant spider monster that lays eggs in him and almost kills him. It was extremely disturbing to me and not what I was expecting. I knew I would eventually read the rest of the series since I am a huge fan of K.A. Merikan and would read it to support them if no other reason. But I kept putting it off and eventually decided to wait for this collection and just get it over with at once.
Almost a year later I read the second story, Jack Addison vs. Nessie's Tentacles, and was pleasantly surprised to find that this series is not what I had assumed at all. I should have trusted in K.A. In that one Jack discovers that Nessie is a beautiful tentacled gender-shifting creature, which he proceeds to have hot consensual sex with. This turns into a sexual awakening of sorts for Jack. He decides he wants to discover all the sexual wonders with creatures that he can, and proceeds to have sex with the titular creatures in the next 3 stories. He has run-ins with Roux Chat-Bonnes throughout, while also learning to see creatures as people worth respecting, and falling in love with Roux.
It is story 6, Jack Addison vs. Asexual Vampires, where Jack's feelings for Roux start to become too complicated and he no longer has sex with every creature he meets, although he has some close calls. I learned to love Jack while reading this. I really enjoyed seeing his eyes opened to the world through his travels. This series really benefited from being released in this bundle and being able to get past the first few story and on to the adventure without getting stuck like I did.
I also think this could have benefited from being one story shorter. By story 7, Jack Addison vs. Foxy Lies, things started to feel like they were dragging a bit and the only thing keeping Jack and Roux apart was their stubbornness and pride. The last two stories were back on track again though and start to focus a lot more on Jack and Roux's relationship and give us the HEA we were waiting for!
And so begins the saga of Jack Addison, Monster Hunter extraordinaire! Or so he'd like to believe. If he could just stop to think with his big head instead of his little one,Jack might not end up in all the insane and erotic situations that he does! But then, where would be the fun in that! This book is like a mini series of the best campy, B rated fantasy/sci-fi movies ever produced. It has giant spiders, tentacles, the Loch Ness monster, and the perfect "nemesis turned grudging friend turned lover". It's funny and witty and oh so over the top and I adored every single word of it. First read it in KU but then absolutely had to buy a copy to read over and over again. The writing duo that is K.A. Merikan have completely outdone themselves in this book - which is a step aside from their usual dark and gritty works. Completely enchanting and totally worth recommending! Love it!
It was actually pretty good! steamy, fun and cuteeeee.
I loved the way the main relationship was built throughout the whole series instead of just throwing it together in the last book. Jack had a complete character arc, which I honestly didn't expect at all when I was diving into the book. I was also left pleasantly surprised by the world building, except for the fact that I would've liked a little bit more backstory of how the "creatures" and the humans came to coexist in the same planet/dimension/realm.
All in all, I had so much fun reading this story and would 100% recommend it if you're looking for something that'll make you laugh, scream and blush...
What an amazing journey this has been 😍 Across nine books we've seen how Jack and Roux' relationship developes, how Jack growns up and matures and how he gets down and dirty with different creatures, cause that's what we all came here in the first place, let's be honest.
It's an easy, fun read and very pleasurable. I recommend it a lot!!
(2.75) did i have a bit of a hard time finishing this? yes, i did. my momentum in the beginning was amazing though, and i got though like 60% of the book in one breath. jack and his adventures of monster fucking? yes. jack settling down with roux? well... let’s just say i liked his whorish ways better.
When I first found this book I wasnt too invested in it. I thought it would be interesting but no more than creature erotica. In fact, while theres plenty of erotica theres also a backstory with character development and an enticing slow burn relationship. I enjoyed reading this quite a bit!
Accidentally deleted my in-depth review! Absolutely tragic.
The episodic "monster of the week" format of the book is absolutely delightful. Each monster is introduced and portrayed in creative ways, and they vary wildly. (I mean, there's oviposition right out the gate. That's brave.)
Jack Addison is a horny monster-loving freak, and I love that for him. He goes from monster hunter to monster fucker in the span of a single chapter. From sirens to centaurs, Jack will hook up with anything to get his monster fix, and along the way, he learns they aren't monsters at all. The tension between him and Roux the chat (chat being a cat-like humanoid creature) really ties all the chapters together, as well. The buildup to their eventual romance is really satisfying. I love Roux's strong will and sense of self-worth. He's a solid character who I wanted good things for, and I was not left disappointed. Jack, on the other hand, is a mess and a bit of an idiot, and the book has fun teaching him a lesson, haha.
Between each "episode," there's a "What will happen next?!" style section typical of serial TV dramas, and it gets a little repetitive. These seem like were likely very entertaining when the chapters were first released serially online, but collected altogether in a published book, they feel a bit like hitting a speed bump in the middle of a highway for no reason. Pretty negligible complaint, though.
Quick facts: m/m, no cheating, HEA, lots of monster/creature+human smut
This a whole-series review. 4.5 stars, rounded up because it truly was a pleasant experience to read all around. It's a fairly light read. You won't be getting into a deepdive fantasy world here.
Put simply, this series is great. It starts out with heavy erotica, not much on romance. While the hot-as-fuck sex (Jack sucks off a centaur eventually lol) continues throughout the story, the romance between Jack and Roux is a slow build and becomes more prominent as the series goes on. It ends up being a very sweet romance story with surprisingly significant character development.
This series is better than a lot of novels I read. The worldbuilding isn't over the top, but it doesn't feel inadequate at all. Jack is a great character, as is Roux. And Chad... probably the MVP right there.
The sex is exactly as advertised... a lot of monster/creature sex. It's some of the hottest I've read in this genre, frankly.
A few of the middle parts dragged a small bit, but nothing extreme. There are some lingering questions at the end, but not highly important. It mainly has to do with side characters.
If you like monster/creature erotica mixed in with a slow burn romance, this is your series.
I'm glad these novellas are in a single volume. It would have been pure torture having to wait for the next installment. Was an awesome read and just the thing for making time fly by! Love the sexy "monster" sex, difficult to find but a joy to read when its this well written.
This book has been a pleasure to read. The growth of the mc Jack was great. He developed a unique voice and truly went from being very speciesest to accepting and caring for the creature community. I enjoyed the separation between each story, however, don't think the review of what had happened between each chapter/ story was necessary.
It is basically a collection of short vignettes but I do wish it had been a more cohesive story with a better plot than just Jack fucking through a bunch of monsters before settling on Roux. It's definitely better enjoyed one at a time because if you do read it all at once, it gets a bit boring.
I honestly loved this whole short series. I was expecting just monster sex and smut with no plot but i ended up falling in love with the character. And i loved watching the romance slowly develop and the ending was truly perfect.
I've gotten thru 1-5 but that 6th one... maybe it's the Asexual part but I jumped to another book for a break... still not sure if I'll finish.
Thoughts: Roux slowly turns into the virginal goody two shoes prudish character for me. The the whole pussycat thing I found confusing. Something to do with liking other males but I didn't quite understand if it was more of a bottom or top thing. Since Jack had been bottoming, I was thinking it was a top or a general thing. And the centaur relationship... I thought a different excuse could have been used to break that up then gold digger moving on. Didn't really get that vibe from Calex beyond making money to survive and help (?) his family.
“Let’s just hope curiosity doesn’t get you pregnant again.”
By way of nine novellas, we embark on quite the journey with Jack Addison.
Jack’s a young himbo who’s also a monster hunter, or venator. His family has been in the business for generations, and Jack is used to things coming to him easily.
While Jack is immediately attracted to Roux, the chat is hesitant. He’s had a rough time with human men, including a very difficult relationship with an ex-boyfriend.
Jack has had a fairly sheltered upbringing. At the beginning, his views on creatures are…questionable.
Jack’s encounters feature:
A creepy but surprisingly gentle giant spider Finally meeting Nessie—and he’s nothing like Jack had envisioned An orgy-tastic pack of werewolves Seductive and treacherous centaurs A very tempting and unique merman Chilly vampires who are resistant to Jack’s charms A conniving and dangerous kitsune
There’s a ton of humor that only K.A. can pull off.
Jack shows surprising growth throughout the series. He truly comes a long way.
This wraps up with an excellent final installment and a poignant ending.
“You mean that? We’ll make things work?” “We will. We’re like…you know, pieces of a two-piece puzzle.”
Jack Addison come from a family of monster hunter. Now at nineteen, the young man wants to prove himself by hunting the Loch Ness monster, Nessie. He is cocky and get himself into weirds situations, like a ravishing spider wanting him as an incubator for its eggs. After a while, he discover that he prefers “exploring” with creatures instead of hunting them.
Chat Roux Bonne is another hunter and is always at the same place as him. Like his name mention, he is some sort of cat/human hybrid and become the love interest in a “enemies to lover” romance.
I personality think I would have prefer this series without the romance, this book was sold to me as a monsters erotica book that does not take itself seriously and it was at the beginning, but then the story start dragging and the romance was cheesy.
