The Best Friend's Billionaire Brother

Rate this book
She’s loved him forever. He’s been too blind to notice.

When Gabby Fredericks returns home for the holidays, she’s not expecting her best friend’s brother and her ex-crush—Wyatt West—to meet her at the airport. It’s been five years, and she’s over him. Only, her heart hasn’t gotten the message. Wyatt is taller, more rugged, and even better looking than when she left home…and he’ll never be hers.

Wyatt West can’t believe how much Gabby has changed since he last saw her. He’s always considered her an extra little sister—and off limits—but now the feelings he’s having aren’t brotherly at all. Between his uncertain future in the rodeo and struggling with his growing feelings for Gabby, his plans for a restful holiday have vanished.

It’ll take more than a little mistletoe for these two hearts to come together.

Is this now the new norm for fictional romances to write douchebag Zeroes who have no problem lusting & falling in love with OW until she does him wrong and then (and only then) he realizes heroine was always "it" for him and he always loved her - even when he was busy screwing OW, telling her ILY and proposing marriage? Come on people! We are smarter then that -- aren't you writers?

Not too long after that, he’d met Lori. She’d come to some of his events, but he was pretty sure she was just there to flirt with the other guys. At the time, Wyatt hadn’t really paid attention because she’d always been a bit of a tease. They were on and off for a year, mostly breaking up because she’d get tired of him being on the road. The last time, she’d made up with him and things were going well, or so he thought. Enough that he’d introduced her to his family and proposed to her in front of all of them. They’d been good a while after that. She seemed to be okay with him being on the road. Then…on a whim, he’d decided to surprise her, only to find her having dinner with another man.

It had broken his heart, but not as much as it should have. That’s when he wised up and broke it off. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, it had bothered him that she could say she loved him and then go around with another man.

------

The last event she went to, she’d found enough courage to tell him how she felt, only to find him lip-locked with Lori. They’d broken up, he’d said, for good, but there Lori was…all over him. It had broken her heart. That was the day Gabby had put feelers out for other colleges.

And then the final straw that sent her packing was the summer before her sophomore year…him asking Lori to marry him. But it was pointless to even talk about it.

-----

“I just don’t want to see you get hurt. I’ll never forget how heartbroken you were that night he asked Lori to marry him. You were crushed.”

-----

“Have you ever thought about your wedding? I mean, when you proposed to Lori, I suspect you guys talked about it a little.”

One of his worst mistakes. He couldn’t even remember why he’d done it. He’d brought Lori home to introduce her to their families at one of their family dinners, he’d heard Gabby talking about moving to Charleston, and the next thing he remembered was proposing to Lori. It had been so strange. To this day, he had no idea why he’d done it.

“Not really. It didn’t last very long.”

“Why? I mean, I know you guys were off and on, but I figured that would be over once you asked her to marry you.”

“I did too, but…” He tightened his grip on the steering wheel. “She cheated on me.”

“What?”

“Yep, I was on tour with the rodeo. I came back as a surprise for her birthday and caught her on a date with someone she worked with. There was no more on and off for me. It was just over.

------

“I’m just sorry you had to go through that.”

“Me too, but the thing I had with Lori had to stop. I don’t even know why I let it go on as long as I did. We weren’t right for each other. We didn’t want the same things.”
“Like what?”
“She wanted to move to a big city, and I didn’t. She didn’t want children. And I did. She wanted all these grand things when what I wanted was the simple stuff.”

“She didn’t want to run an orchard or anything like that.”

“She especially didn’t want to do that. You should have seen her face when I told her about it. There was no way that was happening. What’s really sad is that after I found out she was cheating, I was relieved.” (*Ahem..no, that's not what you said earlier...liar, liar, pants on fire..*)

“I never understood why you kept getting back together with her.”

“I don’t have a good reason.” (*sure you do. SEX!!*) He sure wished he did. How many times did they break up? Each time, he promised himself there wouldn’t be a next time, and Lori would find a way to change his mind. “In a way, I think I was glad she cheated. No matter what she said or how much she tried, after that, I was officially done.” (*until the next time buddy!*)

“I guess it was better to find out before you married her than after.”

“Boy, ain’t that the truth. I can’t even picture being married to her.” He shivered with the thought. “I think I would have been miserable.” (*Liar, liar! Can the dude tell the truth?*)
“Then it’s a really good thing you didn’t marry her.” (* Woman, where's your pride?Lol*)
------

Of course, the same could be said for him and his relationship with Lori. But that wasn’t him doing the leaving and coming back. It was always Lori dumping him and then coming back. He was still angry with himself that he’d done that so many times. It shouldn’t have taken her cheating on him to realize he didn’t want to be with her.

At least it had ended, but he’d grown increasingly lonely. Maybe that was why he’d taken her back each time. He’d hated being all alone, and at the time, it was better to have a warm body than an empty space. (Oy! Will this shitfest never end??*)
.

For anyone who cares, the stupid dimwit heroine has had a long time crush on her best friend's brother (Hero) and can't get over him, but he only ever saw her as his sister's sidekick. He had dated OW on & off for months/years (?) in which she would leave him for OM, only to come back to him time & again and repeat the pattern. Yet the schmuck of a Zero took her back each time and even proposed to her! So now, I'm suppose to believe the stupid heroine is "it" for him and is not sloppy seconds? PLEASEEE! I would have said "hit the road jack, and don't let the door hit your stinky ass".

Don't care for this crap, but if you do then I'm sure you will enjoy it. All power to 'ya.

Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about this story. It had the potential to a really good story and don’t get me wrong I enjoyed reading it for the most part. But at some point how dense can Wyatt possibly be? And how much of a wallflower an Gabby be. Essentially one is too dumb to live and the other too weak to know her own mind. Gabby has loved Wyatt since before she knew what love was and Wyatt always thought of her as his little sister’s best friend. Until he picks her up from the airport for the holidays that is and he sees her all grown up. At what point do you give up and move on ? Gabby didn’t even give it a solid try and Wyatt was just clueless until he thought she was dating someone. Where is Gabby’s self worth ? And I mean how long can one hold a torch until the light bulb went on in Wyatt’s head apparently. If not for the constant dancing around each other, dishonesty, and repetition the rating would’ve been better.

A childhood crush to true love clean romance, Gabby has loved Wyatt, her best friend’s brother, forever it seems, and he only sees her has a good friend or part of the family. She finally gives up being noticed and leaves the state to finish college. She only goes back to her hometown for Thanksgiving because she believes Wyatt will be absent. But guess who picks her up at the airport? Will Wyatt notice her now? Does she want him to? Then the long weekend turns into six weeks since her best friend is getting married on New Year’s. Can she hold on to her feelings?
I highly recommend this book.
I was given an ARC and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Great best friend's brother romance

Falling in love with your best friend's brother can be a tricky thing, especially when your families are as close as the Wests and Fredricksons. Gabby has tried to move on, but her feelings for Wyatt are still just as strong. I love the close relationship Gabby and Wyatt have. I wasn't expecting that. Now if Wyatt would stop being so bull-headed he might just figure it out. I hope this is a new series, because I want all their stories, even Carrie Ann and Israel's.

This is the first book in the Caprock Canyon Series. This is Gabby and Wyatt's story. Love was right before Wyatt's eyes but he couldn't see it as he considered Gabby as family. Best friends since childhood and soul mates. A friends to lovers clean romance that was fun to read. Well written with an engaging story line a cute cast of characters. A happy ending and no cliffhanger.

A sweet reminder that you can plan a future for more than 8 seconds.

Romance: 3/5
Chemistry: 4/5
1st kiss: +-55% in
Spice: 0/5 (it's a clean one y'all)
Humour: 2/5
Cry factor: 0/5
Suspense: 0/5
Drama: 0/5

Positive thoughts:
- I absolutely loved the angst this book gave me, that feeling when she's hopelessly in love and he's clueless and keeps telling her they're only friends. It breaks my heart every time - I love how authors do that.
- It was sweet and to get to know how goofy our hero was just made him even more sweeter and lovable.

Negative thoughts:
- I listened to the audio for this one on YT and the narrator wasn't a smooth one. She had great tones for each character on the dialogues, but the narration part was always the same tone, from high to low, it didn't flow nicely. But the story was interesting enough to get me past it.

Overall:
- It was a short romance, with great chemistry and I got the angst emotion which I love.
- It's a clean, proper romance. A fast paced read and "page turner".

Tropes:
- Childhood friends to lovers
- Fake relationship
- Billionaire MMC
- Goofy MMC
- Small town ranch
- Best friends brother
- Best friends wedding

-‘Maybe he was right about Wyatt too. She’d keep moving on, and if he ever decided to catch up, it would be great. If not and he was too late, then that was on him. She wasn’t standing still anymore. Not for him, not for anyone. She was loving someone and setting them free, and she was going to do the same for herself.’- Wyatt and Gabby come back to their childhood homes for a wedding. Gabby has been in love with Wyatt forever but he’s never seen her as anything but a family friend. When both start to question their careers and begin thinking about moving home again, complications in their friendship arise. This is a sweet story about second chance romance. The author writes in a similar style to Anne-Marie Meyer, Judy Corry, and Victorine Lieske, among others. I liked this story and I recommend it.

More Than Just Family

The Best Friend's Billionaire Brother was nothing like I expected! A light-hearted move about two families who are so close they are like one did have been good enough, but throw in the fact that Gabby has loved Wyatt practically from the cradle, and Carrie Ann is so much in love she wants to match up the whole world; and you have a book that keeps you spellbound in every page!! I look forward to reading Bree Livimston's books about the rest of the West siblings!!

The Best Friends Billionaire Brother

This was a great book to read and enjoy. The characters were really great to get to know and the story line great to follow. The fact that love abounded in this book but it just goes to show that some men are air heads when it comes to knowing what their feelings are and how to act on them. A sister who knew you better than you knew yourself tells a whole lot about your character and your life. This review is mine and mine alone on a Free book that I downloaded and read. Norma Gorrill

Brilliant, just brilliant

Wow, that was so good. Could not put it down. Read from start to finish in one sitting. LOVED IT

Not sure I could hold out that long for the guy I loved to work it out, talk about thick. But hey what are family for, if not to help you come to your senses before it’s too late.

The family dynamics of this book is what really makes it stand out. It’s exactly how you would expect a big loving, interfering family, should be like. And I found a friend in each and every one of the characters.

We will not regret reading this book.

I really loved all the characters in the book. Reading this one made me want to pick up the rest in the series to read about all of the brothers. The only thing I didn't really like is that the main characters didn't talk for years until they were re-united...that just didn't seem likely with the family dynamics between the 2 families. I get that she avoided going there to avoid seeing him, but the families were pretty tight. Gonna pick up the others at some point :)

I enjoyed listening to this book on YouTube. The story was very good and moved quickly and the narrative was also good.
I liked Gabby and her sweet personality. She has loved Wyatt almost her whole life. She was always there when he needed her and proved to be a good friend. The problem was Wyatt never saw her as anything other than “part of the family”. That is about to change.
Nice, sweet read.

I don’t necessarily need an erotic love story, but this was just too sweet and innocent. Not a crossed word, a swear word or any sign of sexual chemistry. Bland story, maybe ok if you’re 12 years old and just discovering romance novels, but not an adult romance.

There was not much of a plot apart from hearing "friend" and "family" all the time. Plus the heroine still pinning for the hero and nothing happening, this starts to get boring :(

Tame, Sweet and Short

This is a quick and easy romance, featuring a “good-girl” heroine and the “boy next door,” that she has been in love with for most of her life.

**SPOILERS**

Gabby and Carrie-Anne are best friends and come from a very small town. They grew up together, almost literally…as neighbors. Carrie-Anne’s older brother Wyatt has always been Gabby’s “champion,” the person she could talk to when things went wrong and she needed a different perspective than that of her best female friend. Gabby has loved Wyatt since the moment she understood what love meant, and has tried for years to get him to notice her more than a “second little sister.” It had been terrible for her having to watch girls hang over the man she loves (he’s a cowboy on the rodeo circuit) but she still remained “true,” until she went to their house and Wyatt proposed to his on again, off again, girlfriend. Gabby decided she’d had enough. She moved away to Charleston, barely traveled home (because she could hardly bear to see him) and rose the “corporate ladder.”

Carrie-Anne is finally marrying her long time sweetheart and of course calls gabby home for the festivities. The wedding was planned quickly because the West’s (Carrie-Anne and Wyatt’s family had won the lottery and were now billionaires!). Gabby who had just been fired from her long time job can’t refuse her best friend and goes back home. She’s completely flummoxed when Wyatt (the guy she’s loved forever) meets her at the airport. She learns that he never married Lori and that he’s thinking of staying in his hometown and settling down, which is all Gabby wants to do - but with HIM.

Carrie-Anne knows her brother and best friend are meant to be together and devises this harebrained plan to make Wyatt jealous by making him think Gabby is dating one of his very good friends. At first the plan seems to work. It’s clear Wyatt no longer sees Gabby as his younger sister’s best friend, a “second sister.” But now he’s wracked with guilt because he’s lusting after his friends “girlfriend” - remember it’s all pretend, though. Gabby never feels completely comfortable lying to Wyatt so she always tries to skirt the issue of dating his friend, or tells him that they’re just getting to know one another etc. (white lies, you know).

The day of the wedding draws near and Wyatt who has now kissed Gabby a few times KNOWS she’s the only girl for him. He confronts his friend to come “clean” and learns of the fake dating plan - he’s beyond furious! His ex-fiancé had lied and cheated on him, and now here was his best friend lying to him and playing him for a fool! He confronts Gabby says very, very hurtful things to her and storms off. Gabby is heart-broken and holed up in her room, determined only to come out when necessary for the wedding- meanwhile, Carrie-Anne reads her brother the “riot act.” She explains the situation, and tells him he’s dense and an idiot! Wyatt realizes his mistakes and decides to do a grand gesture to show Gabby he loves her, and is ready to be with her and settle down in their small hometown. Of course everything works out and they live HEA.

This is a sweet (almost sugar coma inducing) romance between two best friends, one of which is suffering from unrequited love. It’s pretty short for a novel, and uses a lot of similar tropes and cliches. The characters are sweet, but fairly two dimensional, even the heroine and hero. And the story is very predictable. It is VERY TAME, no sex scenes in this book, people, lol. Which is just fine, just make sure you go into this novel not expecting any steam!! Everything ends well, and you can predict the ending a mile away.

If you like easy, happy “hallmark-like” romance stories, then “The Best Friend’s Billionaire Brother: Book One will satisfy you. If you want any “meat on your bones,” don’t bother with this sappy story.

Firstly, this was a YA romance. Absolutely no spice, nothing other than a couple kisses which is not what I was expecting from a billionaire story.

Secondly, it’s in third person. I can’t stand third person.

Third, the writing wasn’t that great. It seemed like every sentence was a question and the MCs constantly questioning themselves and their choices or desires.

Also, the main characters were stupid. The MMC was agonizingly blind to everything around him and the MFC was hung up on a dude for years that never paid attention to her in that way to the point that she never even dated anybody else in her whole adult life. Oh and they aren’t even dating for a week before he decides to propose?? Like you couldn’t have put a “one year later” epilogue for him proposing and their progress on the house they’re fixing up?

It wasn’t so terrible that I couldn’t stand reading it, but it definitely isn’t my cup of tea. I have 2 books from this series that were on Amazon for free, so I’ll be reading the other one that I have so it’s marked read on my kindle. BUT I was planning to read the other ones since they’re on kindle unlimited but I don’t think I can get through every book if it’s gunna be the same nonsense.

So this series is probably great for a 12 year old, don’t recommend if you’re over 18. Actually I don’t recommend this to anybody bc it’s a terrible example of a relationship.

Classic Clean Romance

Sometimes simple is the read I need.

This is a classic tale of "she has loved him forever" and "he has never seen it" with some lovely little twists. However, there's real depth to this book:

--Both main characters are in the midst of major life changes.
--Their families are all close friends, full on loving of one another, down to earth, and supportive. This does happen in real life, and reading about it reminds me the work to be a strong and loving family is so worth it.
--His journey to understanding is not instant and has tough moments. Ditto for her.
--It's a triple plot with the threads of their friendship/relationship puzzle, her major life challenge, and his major life challenge woven together. These overlapping situations create tangled moments and knots.
--Add in the entire family still evolving from the effects of their financial windfall as another interesting plot layer.
--There are romantic moments, yet what makes this book re-readable is it is a People book first. It's about people and how they deal with what happens to them and to the people they are closest to.
--It's a clean read; a complete story. No character or plot development is cut out to make space for sex scenes.

This may be a classic romance plot that's easy and fun to read, but the depth Writer Bree Livingston includes keeps me thinking about them and their situations afterwords.

Recommended. Happy Reading!

WHAT IT'S ABOUT
She’s loved him forever.

MY TAKE
I read Bear's romance a couple of years ago (his book is the last in the series), so it was fun to get reacquainted with the characters. When I finish the series, I'll need to read his again.

Not a fan. The book seemed very high school-ish. It was very repetitive. Gappy has been in love with Wyatt her entire life. She has watched him with other girls and even witnessed him propose to another woman. While she hardly dates at all. Every time he says something stupid to her or hurts her in anyway she says she done. Then on the very next page we start all over again. Wash, rinse, & repeat. That’s the whole book. The hero is so incredibly dense, I had a hard time liking him. There is a lot of ridiculous lying & beating around the bush. It was just annoying. The final straw was the way he treated her after he found out her last lie. What a jerk!! All the things she’s let go and he acts like a big baby. Of course after he gets over himself, he realizes the reason he did all the foolish things that he did, was because he was so in love with her, but didn’t know it. Ummmm, ok. I didn’t even read the last couple of pages. There was nothing but some kissing in this. Not my usual thing but if it’s done right I’m good with it.

Good story

This was a good story of HEA. It did have a lot of repeating lines, but still allowed you to bond well with the characters. I did like the story I could read more in the series. This was a first time read with this author.
Overview. Gabby moved to Charleston to finish college and work her dream job of working at the paper. Plus she wanted to leave home after her best friend (Carrie Ann)'s brother and her friend Wyatt proposed to his on and off again girlfriend. Gabby has always loved Wyatt. Gabby thought she was getting a promotion at the paper, but she was fired. Gabby was glad she was going home for the holidays and even more for her best friends wedding. She just hopes that Wyatt won't be there. Instead Gabby was shocked that Wyatt is the one who has picked her up from the airport. Gabby struggles to fight her feels for Wyatt, while Wyatt slowly discovers that Gabby has always been there for him. Memories help Wyatt see a future he wasn't planning for

Talk about a train wreck!!!!
HAHA! Let's dive in.

💙Personal note: I listened to this on audiobook!

Gabby is still in love with Wyatt, her teenage crush, and decides to use the most crazy, weird, and manipulative ways possible to win him over while they're both in town for his sister's wedding!!

She spends the whole book lying to Wyatt about who she's dating and even fake-dates Bandit, just to get Wyatt super jealous and make him make a move on her.
Honestly, I would've loved for Gabby to get with Bandit! Bandit had more personality and charm, and his stutter was honestly so cool/attractive (the audiobook reader did his voice well!), plus he was confident in himself!

However, Gabby is not the only party here to blame.... Wyatt is such a whiny crybaby near the end, when he realizes the plan his sister forced Gabby to use to make him jealous.
Dude, it's not Gabby's fault you're dumb as a brick and never got the hint that she loved you. I mean, she did everything to show that she liked you (like going to each and every one of your rodeo shows to support you)! HAHA.

The "billionaire" aspect of this story was really dumb; all the West brothers winning the lottery and wanting to help all their friends and family build businesses and stuff because they have money to spare? Unrealistic and unnecessary.

‼️Poor writing; I could go outside and find two sticks to rub together and there'd be more of a spark than this book had!!!

Pleasantly interesting story

I have only two real complaints. 1. It's "y'all" and not "ya'll". 2. There were a couple of other glaring typos, too. Those were the only reasons I gave four stars instead of five. The first reason is a major pet peeve of mine.
I did love the story and the characters. I think my favorite thing about this story was the believable interaction between characters. Bandit was my favorite character, even though we didn't get to see him much. Overall, I thought this book was a fun and cozy read.
If you enjoy contemporary romance that's clean, you'll probably enjoy this one.

Will he pull his head out long enough to see what's always been right in front of him?

One of my favorite parts was the late night scene with Gabby talking with her dad. It was so sweet, but felt a little out of place because there hadn't been any evidence of a relationship between them before that. I would have liked more interactión with those two characters throughout. Interesting characters. Great setting. I would have given it a 5, but Wyatt really was an idiot and took to long with all his waffling. And then the end just happened. Gabby probably felt like she had whiplash. All in all, it was clean and fun.

Stuck in the friend zone

Gabby and Wyatt have been friends forever. As teens, Gabby developed a crush on him, but Wyatt still viewed her as a friend and part of the family. She moved away for five years to preserve her heart, but now she is back to help with her friend Carrie Ann's wedding. Carrie Ann also happens to be Wyatt's sister, and hatches a crazy plan to get Wyatt to finally notice Gabby as more than a friend. Will Wyatt ever realize what has been in front of his face for years? Or will Carrie Ann's plan backfire and make Wyatt walk away from Gabby for good?
I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a clean contemporary romance!

Awesome!

I loved how this book was so down to Earth. I loved that even though the family was billions they still worked and didn't act like they were rich. I loved that they used their money to make things better for the town.
Now Wyatt I could have knocked him in the head a couple of times. He was really clueless about Gabby. I really do like their friendship and how close both families are.
I would love to see Bandit open a restaurant. I would love to read a story about each family member.
I really enjoyed the book and I feel in love with this unique family

I loved Gabby but boy did she hold onto that crush way too long! If I was her bestie I would have said he doesn't deserve you move on sweetie, about a hundred times sooner than anyone actually said it to her. And Wyatt had to be the densest individual on the planet. I know lots of guys and yeah they have their moments but none are this dumb. still, the story was well written and the other characters great. I like The Housekeeper's Billionaire Boss way better. this was a 3 and a half stars not a 5 like the other. So I am glad I read that first because if I went by this book I might not have continued the series but with the first read being a 5 star I will definitely give the other brothers a chance. I just hope they are as annoying as Wyatt. Gabby deserved way more from life.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. When Gabby Fredericks returns home for the holidays, her ex-crush Wyatt West meets her at the airport. She thought he had married, but he hadn’t. He has to decide whether to remain as a bull rider, and she has to determine what she wants to do as she had lost her job. He hadn’t expected his extra little sister to have grown into such a beautiful woman. Themes of best friends, secret crushes, and stubborn personalities abound in this book.
