Lets Read French - Danny's Blog: Le Blog De Danny

Rate this book
The interesting, illustrated bilingual stories in Let's Read! language-learning books are written for boys and girls who are independent readers in their own language. Titles in this series are available in both English-French and English-Spanish editions. While enjoying the original, varied, and exciting stories, young readers explore a second language, compare it with their own, and start out on a path toward fluency in their new language. Boys and girls soon discover that they don't need to learn every single new word that they encounter in the second language. As unfamiliar words reappear in the story's context, kids will pick up their meaning effortlessly, just as they pick up and understand new words in their own language. The parallel text, illustrations, and dialogue balloons on each page give kids a child-friendly bridge to reading and speaking in a second language. In this story, Danny lives in Borneo, where his Mom is the director of the orangutan reserve. He loves helping her and working with the animals, but the reserve is in danger. A lumber company hopes to take it over for commercial purposes--an action that will destroy the orangutans' environment. Danny decides it's up to him to do something about this new threat. With the help of his computer, he discovers how he can save the animals' habitat.

Reading these bilingual mini-series is a fun way to delve into French literature and test your French language comprehension. The fictional stories are funny, insightful, and the takeaway messages and lessons are actually good.
In this story, Danny helps his mom save their animal reserve/habitat from being taken over by a rich business man looking to make a profit. He comes up with this clever idea to start a blog about the habitat and its occupants to include the orangutans.
