Cursed Academy #4

Cursed Academy: Year Three

Rate this book
Escape Cursed Academy, or go dark. Sounds simple enough.

Stealing an herb from the Underworld has held back Giselle's changes into a dark goddess and bought her friends time before they turn into monsters. But a dire warning from the head of the Lower Order says her fate will catch up to her.

When Giselle's third year at Cursed Academy begins, she's paired with a new tutor who is specially trained to bring out her dark side and drive a wedge between herself and Ronin. And now even her cure is failing to hold back the power of Chaos.

Giselle needs to act, and fast.

She needs to trick Prometheus into letting her transfer schools. The darkness is closing in. And at times, it's tempting to give in.

But can she face a dangerous truth that will shatter everything?

This story keeps dragging. The mc had sex during the summer but it was not a big deal, it was grossed over and taken as a given. Yeah, sure. Then there is a new teacher at school, who I liked more than Ronin. Celestus? Anyway, the ending was nice, a big turnaround. I always thought Zeus would end up being the bad guy but right now it seems like he is on the good side.

Plot twists abound when even more characters are discovered to be not what they seemed. Year three shows growth in characters moving them the storyline from YA to NA. Hold onto your seats, readers! Year three is setting you up for a major blindside! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

Overall still a good book. It only covers half of year 3 so there’s a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, which my main issue with his specific book. I liked the ones that cover the full year better. Otherwise, there were so many good moments and I’m excited for the rest of the series.

Great read!

Giselle does NOT want to go dark, but being marked for Cursed Academy is making it very difficult. Many twists and lots of action. Waiting for Book three and a half!

Honestly my least favorite so far. I like the story line but I’m just not a big fan of her writing style.

This book starts when Giselle is staying/hiding at one of Zeus’ secret homes with Ronin after missing/skipping her finals in order to not being forced to stay on campus grounds and to not have to use her dark powers after Prometheus’ efforts of letting Giselle mature.
But then one day during their vacation, something feels off and soon the couple needs to fight and/or run for their lives and the mood is set for the rest of the book.
The clock is ticking for not only Giselle but her 2 best friends on Cursed as well and the group keeps trying to find ways to break the contract and getting Giselle transferred.
Some detours and sidesteps in their quest did make me wonder if the story wasn’t stretched too tin but that was only every once in a while and that feeling didn’t stick long so only one star less is enough because each time I was drawn in again. I can’t say the plottwists were all a surprise but some were less expected than others. All in all I did enjoy this fourth installment in the series and let me assure you that the story is nowhere near as confusing as the titles of each installment might be. I do wonder what incentive is behind the... certain choice made by the Gods at the end of this book but won’t divulge anything... spoilers, right?
I’m definitely curious to the next installment and can’t wait to see what will happen next.

I have read all four of the Cursed Academy books out so far. These books are exciting and make you just keep reading so you want to know what is going to happen next.

Giselle, Mikey, Maria, and Wendy are all back to Cursed Academy for their third year. The Lower Order is still out to get Giselle to join them and go after her and her boyfriend, Ronin. They get back to school after being attacked. They have the asphodel to help prolong them from maturing to the dark things that they are all going to become. Ronin is no longer training Giselle. Prometheus has decided that she is taking too long to mature and wants Celetus to start training her everyday. Celetus happens to be Serena's brother and they do not get along. The group has found out things about Prometheus and start tracking him. Zeus wants Giselle to follow Prometheus so she can see what he is up to because he can not himself be involved or there will be major penalties against him.

There are so many twists and turns in this book. I didn't want to put it down. I can't wait for the next one!!

It seems like “academy books” are the new “it” tripe as everyone seems to be writing them these days. It’s approaching the point of overload that vampire tales hit a while ago but, just as with that type of tale, there are still stand-out stories that are more than worth reading. Holly Hook’s Cursed Academy series is a perfect example of this and well worth reading. Cursed Academy (Year Three), the latest addition, is just superb. The darkness may be closing in on our gal Giselle but I would never give up on her. Just as I know that I’m never going to give up on anticipating that, as here, I will be in for one heck of a wild and fun ride of reading pleasure with each new book in this series. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

After coming back from the undeworld to steal and herb, Giselle is now starting her third year at Cursed academy. She will have a new tutor to train her and that will start bringing her dark side and her cure now even falling to hold the power of Chaos. As darkness closing on her she will need to trick Promotheus into letting her tranfers to Olympus academy.

I really have love this new Cursed academy book. Can't wait for the next one.

I have received an arc from Holly Hook.
