Plaintiff Blues: Job Discrimination and the Chilling Effect of Retaliation

Rate this book
"Hell will freeze over before we'll hire a woman to be the principal at the Cook High School." That was the response to Judith Pearson's 1986 application for that position. Plaintiff Blues is the true story of her challenge to that prevailing provincialism in Minnesota's north country and of the devastating retaliation that ensued.

I was born and raised on Minnesota's Iron Range, where women traditionally stayed home and raised the kids. I served 34 years in public education, 16 as a high school social studies teacher and 18 as a high school principal, traditionally a man's job in a man's world! I retired from the public schools in 2001.

I was lucky enough to have Judith Pearson as a teacher. What she went through was amazing. A very interesting read.
