I can not say enough great things about this book! Even if you are not an Educator/Teacher, you could certainly benefit from the ideas of this book. The chapters are arranged by week with suggestions for daily ways to implement small changes in your daily routine that will make positive impacts on both your mental and physical well-being. Much needed during this insane time known as "2020".

This is a must have for teachers and anyone serving in a school! The suggestions are sometimes simple ideas we have forgotten, others are new and inspirational. As a leader in a large district, we just gave away 350+ copies to all of our new teachers!
I've been reading this for a Professional Development Book Study at work and I'm having trouble believing that it was actually written by a teacher.
This book of self-care tips for educators includes such gems as: 1) Feel like you're not being supported by your admin? Listen to a happy song! 2) Feeling overworked by your 50hr+/week schedule? Simply stop doing any of that extra work you're doing! Just stop doing it--don't you know that's not good for you? 3) Do you feel crazy busy? Get a housekeeper with all that extra money you have as a teacher! (Y'all, I'm not joking--she suggests getting a housekeeper).
Ms. Boogren's chapters have challenged me in ways I'd never considered. As the fourth generation of teachers now in my seventies, I am astounded that none of us knew that self-care is essential. We've always put in about sixty hours a week combining school and home without a boundary at our front doors. Although I began this during winter break, I look forward to re-reading each chapter starting mid-August.
The most helpful, inspirational book I’ve ever read. This “Bible” helped me get through the hardest year of teaching in my career. I love Tina’s ideas, her heart through her words, and the benefits of the book as a whole. Highly recommended for all educators. I’d love to see a non-educator version for adults and students!!
Great tool for any school! It outlines each week of the year what to focus on. This would be wonderful for principals to use to help staff weekly what their focus should be when it comes to self-care. There are daily focus ideas to help keep a staff member on track. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who works in an educational setting.
Boogren makes self-care for educators simple with her weekly challenges. Unfortunately, I started reading this at the end of the school year, but I may pick it up at the beginning of the next year and follow her challenges week by week.
One of the best education books that I have read in a long time. It reminds teachers that we are important and that we need to take care of ourselves first before we can take care of others.
Even though the majority of the pandemic is behind us, this book came in clutch for those days when self-care was paramount to survival in the classroom.
I am so excited to apply these practical tips this school year. My copy is bookmarked with ways I can help my students learn how to cope with their anxiety and stress. I LOVE this book!
I liked the simple format and there were some great suggestions provided! I definitely felt like this was more for a US context than for a global one, but many of the suggestions would work anywhere.
