First book for my English Literature degree, specifically the Discovering Arts and Humanities module. Loved it! Really helped me understand the topics!
I'm currently studying an English Literature and Creative Writing degree with the OU, and this is the first module unit. Despite being a self-professed history buff, I've found the content to offer fresh insight and perspective on human cultural development. The reflective exercises help immerse you in the subject matter, and I'd recommend reading this with or without study objectives.
Anyway, this was the first textbook for my Discovering the Arts and Humanities module. It was very informative but some chapters were a bit tedious to go through (Mary and Van Gogh, had none of my interest). These chapters were complemented by the online units so it took a while to go through everything but overall I'm happy with what I have learned so far.
For a university book and the start of a module, it was very interesting, I really loved reading and learning about why a lot of figures throughout history are remembered and what made them stand out.
I thought this book was very informative and insightful! Whilst I wouldn’t go out of my way to read a textbook, I did throughly enjoy studying with this one!! 😆
