As the third book in the series, listening to the stories consecutively have had me really set in the world that Greg Dragon created, and this proved to be perfect for me, for I would have forgotten or lost sight of all the intricacies within the book have I not continued the books so closely.
The layers within the book, of politics, races and the war really sets the whole world very well. I like how it is revealed differently each time, sometimes from a character thinking about it, or from orders given from above, but each time it happens it makes me question things a little more, alongside the character. I think this aspect of the book is quite endearing, it really brings me along without being too upfront about it, it is just something that sits unsettlingly at the back of my head. I like that Greg created worlds that have elements that pushes it apart, not too foreign, yet alien enough to be frightening and intriguing.
Narration by Cari Scholtens is wonderful. She did a really good job, as with the other 2 books, with bringing forth the emotions and and the story. Her performance is strong and charged, and reflects that of the book very well.
