“Just because someone means to tell you the truth doesn’t mean they will.”

Nora Ashcroft, 5th Wind Witch, is seriously stuck between a rock and a hard place as she gets involved with the death of Dmitri Flint. Dimitri died of natural causes...or, did he. Everything he says makes sense, but he has unresolved issues, which might be keeping him from crossing over. And, since Ruby True has “retired”,Nora is the only one capable of finding resolution for her ghostly shadow.

Dimitri hasn’t been exactly truthful about his life. Leave it to Nora to find out the truth in an unresolved issue that he needs to truly get off his chest.

And, as Nora solves that, her unresolved problem with Tanner and Eva who went through the Portal, supposedly forever, taints her deepening relationship with Donovan. When she finds one town resident has a private portal, she is at a crossroads. Given the chance to find Tanner, would she close the Portal or go to find him? Tanner’s familiar,Monster, may hold the key to the answer...

Leave it to Nova Nelson to bring us back into Eastwind on the trail of yet another intriguing story. Will the truth win out? Just who’s in charge here? And just what’s going to happen next? Highly Recommended 5/5

Old haunts. New trouble on the horizon

When reading each new book in the Eastwind Witches series, I find myself asking, “What else could possibly happen?” And every time I’m left amazed at the revelation of new depths to old characters and the new exciting plot lines.

While the series is a fun read, it also has moments of sadness, heartbreak, and uncertainty about the future – just like real life. The author deals with issues that plague us all and draws us in to the lives of the inhabitants of Eastwind. We invest our interest and emotions in the action. I often come away from one of these stories feeling like I had been through some of it myself.

In this book, Nora’s attempts to put her relationship with the missing Tanner behind her are front and center. Can she focus herself completely on Donovan while there is the (admittedly remote) possibility that Tanner isn’t gone forever?

The final chapter points to a whole new set of problems on the horizon for our friends from Eastwind. I, for one, cannot wait to see what happens next. Hurry up and write faster, Nova!

Recommended for lovers of mysteries and magic.

I received a review copy of this book and am happy to leave a review.

Ah, Nova Nelson, now you are just messin' with us readers! Just when all appears set in stone, we find out there have been options - what?? options?!! I'm always forgetting magic has no limits - very sneaky and well done! (fans of the series will know what I'm talking about). Not a fan? Get reading! This is a great series with very engaging characters set in the magical town of Eastwind. In each book, I can't turn the pages fast enough yet I want to savor each story at the same time because I know I will have to wait (impatiently) for the next release. I'm particularly looking forward to the next one in line - should be exciting -old haunts, indeed! I have my prediction written down - can't wait to see if I'm even close to what the author's vision of where the series goes next. Thank you for some very enjoyable reading hours!

Although I did receive an ARC of this book from the author, my review is voluntary and I highly recommend this series!

A reality check for love vs lust. And a decent Mystery.

Solid 3 stars.

It's taken 3 books to get back to a decent mystery. The last one was telegraphed way too early, & there was certainly no sense of justice or closure in the one before.

This one involves a death that doesn't seem suspicious, until it does. And certainly doesn't end up any where you might have guessed. It's supposed to resonate with, or mirror, Nora's situation, but is only tenuously connected.

The deceased is definitely a 'character' &, given that Nora and Ruby are described as "psychic mediums," the most involved the story has ever been with a ghost (ignoring the obsessive, stalker, Roland.) Nora actually get's to know the ghost, the good, the bad, & the stupid mistakes of the past.

We are also given an interesting 'lecture' in Freudian Theory regarding the Superego through Sheriff Bloom's understanding of the theory, (as taught to her by Ruby.) Her version points out that, not only do we not always act in our own best interests, but when we stray, we are often completely capable of justifying almost anything, & painting ourselves in the best light - especially to ourselves.

She is speaking specifically about the likaeble rogue of a ghost, who has failed to mention a more than shady past, & a hard lump of guilt he probably has done his best to forget he's carrying.

The point the Angel is making, is that we are seldom the best witnesses, even to our own lives; perhaps especially then. A lesson that Nora has somewhat forgotten in her friendship with the dead Witch. And that Ruby is delighted to see her recall.

The dead are no more reliable than the living when it comes to coming clean about mistakes & misdeeds. They still want Nora to think well of them, even if it impedes her ability to bring them closure.

There is also a call back to a thread that has run through most of the books - a, perhaps, off-hand remark repeated several times about a side character, that seems to have bloomed into a question, 'what's really going on there,' & may have inspired the plot to this one.

The mystery is solid. It takes several turns. And the heart of it really is the heart.

Bless Landon's heart for standing up to Nora! Within the first two chapter, he pours some cold water on her idiotic relationship with Donovan.

It only took (in universe) 6 months, but everyone is finally telling Nora the truth about their feelings &/or misgivings about Donovan. Landon is only the 1st, & it all feels LONG overdue. In fact, they should have spoken up at the beginning - or before it started.

This book *starts* with utterly appalling behaviour from my least favourite character, and it doesn't get any better. He's obnoxious, emotionally manipulative, immature, insecure, & doesn't listen. She seems to be mistaking 'lust' and 'love,' because in this one Donovan does very little to reccomend himself - he is a walking red-flag of a man. His only "positive" quality seems to be that he's 'hot,' & Nora is physically attracted to him. (Insert huge eye-roll.)

Her blindness to his legion of faults is bewildering. His insecurity is *deeply* unattractive, & surpassed only by his double standards.

The fact that his behaviour is finally being written as dubious, & that other characters are FINALLY commenting on it, hopefully means that - at this point - the author has overcome her own infatuation with him (evidenced by her post-scripts 'To The Reader' in previous books.) She seems to have considered him at least a serious contender or alternative to Tanner for a few books, & is perhaps over that now.

His professions of love for Nora, & statements that he's ONLY cared about, or wanted, her "since he first laid eyes on her," makes his whole 'relationship' with Eva reprehensible. He deserved neither woman, & certainly not Eva's love.

Like so many of his kind, Donovan needs to be by himself for a good long while, & to work on himself, before he's allowed to manipulate another woman.

He's always been jealous of Tanner, without thinking for a second about what draws people to his 'best friend;' the loyalty, honesty, compassion & empathy, that endear Tanner to even the most anti-social & unlikable characters, are all character traits that Donovan lacks. Traits he makes no effort to acquire. He's too busy feeling sorry for himself.

I am seriously restraining myself, because with this book, the series seems to finally be getting over it's infatuation with this awful relationship.

The fact that Donovan acts the complete ass in the first 3-4 chapters, and Landon's bold questioning of Nora's attitude, and Donovan's behaviour; is actually the reason I read the rest of the book at all. I cheered for Landon, and a "thank god," may have passed my lips.

I seriously hope that this nonsense is (mostly) done with, given the setting of the next book. But I suspect that it will rear it's deeply annoying head at least once more. That being said, the change of scene *for* the next book is promising. And the promise of Donovan's absence will keep me reading.

HOW a 'Cosy' managed to centre a (borderline) toxic relationship, is beyond me. It was annoying as a subplot, and it ruined 2½ books so far.

I hope the series has gotten it out of its system.

(I like the idea of the Ruby True books, but not if the author has a continuing attachment to this 'type.')

Nora is trying to really figure out where she is in her love life. Gets a ghostly visit, her job, and claims he was not murdered. What or how is she supposed to help.

Great addition to the series. fun read. I read it in a day.

Grim!!!!! Where have you been? I missed you. You not feeling up to par? Getting too domesticated? Not as snarky as usual. Nice job taking care of Monster. Kudos!!!!

There is a quote in the book that says: "...you know Donovan. And you know me. and you know us."
If this makes no sense to you then you definitely need to go back and read the previous books. At this point in the series you could probably read it by itself but there is much that you might be lost on. Besides you will love the series anyway.

Even I could not remember a character by name and had to go check. Been a bit between books for me with all that I read, lol.

Questions regarding the ending so will have to go check Eastwind Coven site thingy. go to author website for what I am talking about. Hope next book is real soon. Anxious to see what happens.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

Book 11 in a fantastic series that keeps you wanting more the minute you finish reading each book and now with an amazing cliff hanger you want more. With Nora finally ready to move on with Donovan after losing Tanner, the love of her life, this are starting to go her way until there is a dead body found in the middle of the street and his ghost has not crossed over even though he says he died of natural causes. So, of course, Nora has to investigate and she reveals secrets and lies. To top that off, there is a portal to her previous world that seems to have opened. Why...what is the meaning of that? Should she try to go after Tanner and her best friend who were lost there to save her and the town? What about Donovan who she has given her heart to now? So many twists and turns and with an amazing cliff hanger at the end....I can't wait for Book 12! An amazing series that gets you caught from beginning to end. And yes...what about Monster? I received and ARC from the author, but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Count Malavic has been and will remain an unending pain in the patootie until someone puts a stake through his heart- just saying!

Spending so much of her time getting to know more about the recently dead, then helping them move on, seems likely to make Nora more lonely.

Of course, moving on with Donovan after Tanner is gone with Eva, through the now closed portal leaves a lot feeling unfinished - especially since his heartbroken Munchkin cat familiar stays with Grimm and Nora.

The Count does his best to make his ugly strategically known, for his personal entertainment of course.

Faced with choices about her future, Nora makes some surprisingly sensible ones, then, as usual, is forced to deal with the fallout as her well laid plans go awry anyway.

I begrudgingly am looking forward to the next adventure for Nora, Grimm and friends.

I really enjoy the series. I hate it when I love the literary twists that are so apt it screws up a plot I was rooting for. Dang it!

Yup. I am another annoying fan too hooked on a fictional universe too fun not to enjoy!

Where is Book 12? I can't wait.Well as you well know, Tanner is gone, Nora has finally accepted that and is moving on in her relationship with Donovan. But wait, this can't be right, there may be a way to find Tanner? Is this true? Now what does she do? There is another death, and of course, the ghost of the deceased finds Nora and she has to find out why he hasn't moved on, leading to all kinds of secrets and lies. Grim is still Grim, I love his character and as far as I am concerned there can never be too much Grim. Please hurry with the next book, I am anxiously waiting for the next . This book is a light paranormal, with romance, mystery and GRIM. I want a Grim too.
I did receive an ARC from the author and am leaving my honest and unbiased review because I chose too. Its very easy to leave a good review for books that are clean, and fun to read.

Another great installment!

That you can grow so fond of a nonexistent place and of nonexistent people! Weird maybe, but so true.

When a dead body is found, Nora doesn’t suspect foul play. But Nora, you should know by now: there’s always more than meets the eye!

I’m not Donovan biggest fan. But I’m really trying to like him for Nora’s sake... and then he goes and does something ridiculous… ;)

Another great installment! Maybe a little less suspenseful than previous books, a different kind of case, but still: sooo good! And a great ending! I’m already looking forward to what’s next!

Nora has moved in with Donovan but still misses Tanner! During a competition at Sheehans she see a different not so like able Donovan! It was nice seeing everybody relaxing and having fun! Not
In their usual places. When someone is found dead she’s relieved it was natural causes but not everything is as it seems. I love Grim! Monster is living up to her name as Grim and her become closer! Everyone in This book seems to be moving forward with their lives. The couples are getting closer! A witch/ were baby is about to be born. Lots of new and exciting changes in Eastwind! The book had plenty of mystery, adventure and fun! Complete with a shocking ending. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book! I highly recommend this book and this series!

Nora has finally moved on she's with Donaven and happy even if she dose occasionally think about Tanner. And after a shuffle puck ternamint at Shehan's Nora's life will come full circle with one dead witch with allot of secrets a lost love and a curse. Dimitri the dead witch says he does know why he's still around according to him he had know enemies and he wasn't murdered. Nora has to figure out what's really going on and unfortunately that means talking to the people that Dimitri had dealings with one of which is Count Malavic and boy has he been keeping a secret one that could break Nora and Donovan up. When the time comes witch path will Nora make close the door on your past or stay were your at.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

After a body was found in the town square, Nora was visited by the newly deceased's ghost. He didn't believe he had any unfinished business to hold him here instead of passing over, but something was obviously keeping him from doing so. It was up to Nora to find out what that was. During her investigations she discovered that the town's only vampire was keeping an open portal to Nora's realm of origin - the place where here her previous love and her friend had crossed to a few months earlier. Did she want to go and look for Tanner or did she want to close the portal and stay with her new boyfriend Donovan? She was totally undecided, but in the end the decision was taken out of her hands.

This book was a great story. I enjoy spending time with Nora and Grim. This story has fun and flirty. It has a death but is it murder? We follow Nora as she tries to find out what happened. Plus we see how Nora and Donovan are doing but the ghost of Tanner is still there in their lives. I use the reference of a “ghost” because he is not there but not dead either.
How will the story end? Is it an untimely death or murder? Is the thoughts of Tanner and him being alive in another realm getting between Nora and her feelings for Donovan? How is Monster, Tanner’s familiar, doing? If you want the answers then you need to get a copy and read it to find out.

OMG! Nova does it again!

Another thrilling chapter to the ongoing saga of Nora's journey to her full potential. And such an exciting ending!

A really good storyline, well-written characters, and lots of plot threads and twists makes this series impossible to put down. I love the humor and Grim's snark, it keeps me laughing out loud!

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review with my honest opinion. I like it so much, I also bought a copy! I love this series, and Nova Nelson is one of the few authors I automatically pre-order!

Fabulous

Says something about the author when they can make your loyalties waver..... I'm TEAM Donovan but I questioned myself in this book. But there is just something about Donovan and he's the underdog in the book. Plus everyone loves Tanner.

The "mystery" was a great change of pace and enjoyed the ghost in this book.
The Count causes all kinds of trouble and aggravation and probably should be staked.
Bloom had some parts and was nice to see her out from under the paperwork.

Recommended series.

When Dmitri comes back as a ghost, Nora thought it was because he was murdered but Dmitri told her about his dodgy ticker which could have given up at any moment and that he was well prepared to drop dead at a second's notice. And yet he was not moving on, which was well strange. In helping him find out why, Nora made a new friend, albeit a dead one and when he did go, it was a goodbye with some sadness.

Another good one from Nova Nelson! But be warned, it ends on a cliff hanger and I am sure that everyone can hardly wait for the next book. As always a pleasure to read!

Book 12 better be coming soon!!

Yet another body has turned up but why is Dmitri still here? It appears to be natural causes and he can't think why he would still be here. Maybe if Nora didn't have to drag information out of him! Grim and Dmitri have a bonding romp thru the Deadwoods. And the Count is up to no good as per usual. Twists, turns, and a HUGE cliffhanger.

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Slight spoiler alert - Nora's probably gone and done it again, messed up the balance of Realms; at least for herself and those that love her.
Here we get a slight feeling of what a relationship with Donovan could be like; until Count Malvic interferes by showing Nora a portal to the Earth Realm. Now she once again must choose who she wants to grow old with, Donovan or Tanner...which will she choose?

Great story and loved that the ghost was not the usual mystery. The other developments are up for grabs, I can't decide if I am happy or not or even how I hope it all turns out. What a decision to have to make and what a impact it is going to have on everyone. If you have been reading this series then you will love this book, if you haven't been following the series then for fang's sake get started. You are missing a really good series. Book 11 and my favorite so far. Nora's actions in this one end up being way more than she bargained for when she tries to solve the mystery of a man's body found on the road who she doesn't know. This one had my heart jumping all over the place. I didn't want it to end and now I have to wait until the next book is written.

Another great installment of the Eastwind Witches cozy mystery series! What I love best about this series is the small-town feel. Every book is like a visit with old friends. I'm excited to see the direction the next book is going to take. If I have any suggestions it is only this: more Grim!!

If you've been reading this series and following Nora's exploits you'll love this one. This time Nora is visited by a likable ghost for once. As usual, there are surprises in store. If you haven't been reading this series, I highly recommend it. It not necessary to read them in order but I do recommend it because Nora learns and changes throughout the series.

Wow what a ride. There were so many twists in this book that I could not put it down. Love Nora and the gang. Monster and Grimm are total show stealers. The cliff hanger changes everything, Nora is now in Louisiana. Dying to see what will happen in the next book. The story just keeps getting better and better with each book. You definitely have to read this series.

The story moved quickly, too quickly, it left me wanting more and now I have to wait on pins and needles for book 12. The next book could go in so many directions, I couldn't even venture a guess as to where the story is going but it will be exciting and funny and maybe a little sad or not, depending on what you hoping for. Nora is leaving her past behind her and moving on again. The newest spirit isn't however. He doesn't even know why. While searching for answers for him, she finds another portal. Suddenly she had doubts. Can she find Tanner? Should she? To find the answers to these questions, you must read this exciting book. I can hardly wait for the next book. I really want to see how this all turns out!

Ooh .... just when I thought I knew what was going on, Nova kicks it up a notch.

In this book, we explore Nora’s residual feelings for Tanner.

Good clean humour, I’d absolutely recommend this book.
