Alcott Main #3

Rough Nights

Rate this book
Alcott Main, Book Three

Spencer McCarney has never had a lucky break in his life, and certainly has nothing to smile about, until one night he's hauled from a skip behind Alcott Main's high street bakery.

Mark is juggling his life the best he can. Between the bakery and his Gran, he has precious little time for anything, never mind being a hero.

But that's exactly what he becomes... Spencer's hero.

And now, with little to offer, Spencer must find a way to repay the random act of kindness without getting too attached.

Alcott Main is teeming with people who have a myriad of stories to tell. Rough Nights is the third in this brand new mini series from K A Sands. A short, sweet 32k read to make you feel good.

Klaire is a multi genre author who has a passion for reading and more often than not, can be found with her nose stuck in a book. She loves angsty, dark reads but is not averse to the fun, light hearted side either. Typically, a romance reader, of most genres/sub genres, her passion for literature and written words goes back to her childhood when she always dreamed of writing and telling the world her stories.

Not quite a stay at home mum, Klaire has a busy life which she shares with her husband of twenty-five years and her little monkey boy. Her adult children have flown the coop already, but still manage to come home for ‘mama’s lasagne.’ EOL Nurse and business owner are her daytime realities.

Avid eater of mayonnaise and chips, anti-get fitter, lover of cheesy music and a fierce advocate of things close to her heart. She has a bucket list as long as her arm, which includes sky diving and visiting Cambodia. And wants to travel the world.

Great believer in second chances, insta-love (because her love is a product of that), fairy tales and monsters… Klaire just wants to write all the words for you.

Having read the other two books in this series and thoroughly enjoyed them I was really looking forward to this one, the third in the series. No way was I prepared for what I was about to read because this book although short made a massive impact on me and my heart. This in my opinion is the best book so far in the Alcott Main series.

Some of the subjects that K.A Sands touched on in this book are so prevalent especially in this climate we live in. This story was very close to my heart and touched me so much that it reduced me to tears. Homelessness; we see more of this every day in every town we all live in, and although sad the way K.A Sands handled this sensitive subject was done brilliantly. Her characters of Spencer and Mark were vividly written with care and love - unconditional love. Mark's gran Elizabeth played a part in my emotional state whilst reading this story, I myself having been put in the position that Mark found himself in, although not exactly the same made me very very emotional and bought back many a memory.

As usual we get to meet some of the characters from book one and two and of course some new ones as well. Alcott Main is quickly becoming a favourite little town of mine to revisit when K.A Sands invites us in. It's vivid with many interesting people who are close and look out for one another. Her character description is wonderful and on key for short books, and although I'll take what I'm given I could read so much more about these characters, the life they lead and the relationships that develop between them and what the future holds for the residents of this town.

This book for me was perfection. Grab a coffee, go one click this book because it's an absolute MUST read that shouldn't be missed. Wonderful.

Rough Nights is a short story in the Alcott Main series of standalone stories and I loved it. The writing is seamless and the words just pull you into the lives of Spencer and Mark. If you love a good M/M story you will adore this one!

Spencer is living rough and finding life hard, then he meets Mark, the Alcott Main baker and things start to change for both of them. These characters are deep and written with a great perception of the human condition. They wrapped around me and I definitely wanted to know how their story ended. I couldn't put the book down.

This story has characters from the other Alcott Main books and it's so nice to catch up on their lives too. I highly recommend this book.

loved it.

I really enjoyed this book. If I could give it an extra star, I definitely would. Mark and Spencer are just the best. I loved reading their story and just couldn't put the book down. Like the other books, it's short and sweet. It doesn't end abrubtly though, like some other shorter reads. You will be left feeling satisfied with the ending but also craving more books about the side characters. I definitely am 😁.

I love this series so much, especially because the author has chosen subjects that need more attention. Subjects that need to be spoken about more often and understood better. Even in doing so, she hasn't lost the lightheartedness in the story. I'd definitely recommend this book.

I'm loving every minute that I spend in Alcott Main. Spencer and Mark's story was everything I expected from a KA Sands’ book - A great storyline, wonderful characters and moments where my heartstrings are well and truly tugged.

The author knows how to address difficult subject matters with confidence and care. Sadly, homelessness is such a serious concern and far too common on our streets today, along with our aging population and the issues that we can find our loved ones facing. The story is thought provoking and I love this.

Another great read from an author who I never hesitate to one-click. I’m really looking forward to Coming Home but I am also sad that this will be the last book in this series.

Good!

Another good addition to the Alcott Mains Series. With each book I say this is my favourite, but what I like is that we see all the characters in every book, they're not retired after their own story. Mark and Spencer was a breath of fresh air. I loved it from start to finish. A definite must read. If you like M&M reads then this is a book for you.

Amazing

Loved reading Spencer and Marks story coming together in the great town of Alcott Main. Even though the books are short they leave a big impact. Cannot wait for the next chapter.

Realistic

This hit a lot of real life issues, homelessness, dementia. The writer dealt with these things with compassion. Adding cute moments like cats and friendship.
