― Rating: 4.5 Stars ★★★★ 1/2 (Perhaps 4? Still deciding on a rating!)
Satoko And Nada is truly unlike any series I've ever read before! This wholesome manga follows Japanese and Saudi Arabian women who become best friends while studying in the US! A genuinely heartwarming, but bittersweet ending to a unique series all about friendship!

Gosh I’m SOBBING (the Bonus Track really got me) , Satoko and Nada are a dynamic duo I aspire to be! They support each other, aren’t afraid to be honest, but also recognize how life-changing their study abroad program has been for each of them. 😭😭

Wrapping up their final few days in the States, Nada prepares to officially meet her fiancé Abdullah in a formal family get together (Satoko included of course), while Satoko is prepping to head back home to Japan.

I was avoiding this last volume for so long because I was devastated that it was coming to an end, but what made the journey more joyful was how this volume reflected on the past ones in the smallest ways that showed how both Satoko & Nada grew during their studies: Satoko is more confident, Nada is still her funny self, but also reflects more on the smallest moments with Satoko that showed the strength of their friendship!!

Overall a fantastic series I’m sad to see come to an end, but it’s honestly so worth the read! It’s a hilarious, uplifting series about day to day life, but ultimately FRIENDSHIP.

My wish is that there were more Satoko And Nada scenes coupled with their final storylines. I just hoped for just a few more adventures, but I will say it was nice to see all the characters together again. The Bonus ending truly got me emotional. A phenomenal series that is very much worth your time.

Satoko And Nada is a terrific manga series following 2 Saudi Arabian and Japanese women who become great friends and in a way, for the reader too!! Heartwarming, sweet, hilarious and above all a genuinely fantastic story that truly shows how impactful friendship can be!

It's always good to just have confirmation that people are in fact people, no matter where they're from.

I love this beautiful series so much!!! *sobs*

Yet again I find another paperback series I checked out from my library and want to own for myself!

Both these beautiful ladies are so special and this final volume brought so much excitement but also made me want to cry. (That ending was very emotional!) I am deeply thankful I was able to go on this adventure with both of them and learn from their friendship. It was so so so beautiful! <3

I highly recommend this series to those looking for a calm slice-of-life that is also fun and helps "teach" about other cultures. I can say I learned quite a bit and know that while I learned much, I will deeply miss reading more about these two ladies. I could keep reading more and more about them both!

Fantastic series!

AHHHH I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS OVER!!!! I love it soooo much!!!! It is my first ever manga as it is easy to read (the panels are straightforward) and it is SUCH A WHOLESOME AND PURE and cute series about friendship and learning about other cultures and love and it’s just beautiful!

I am so so glad this series exists and I’m sad it is only four volumes but they have brought so much joy to my life 😩😩😩😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰🥺🥺🥺👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💖💖💖

Highly recommend this to anyone and everyone looking for a fun quick read and also if you want to learn more about Islam or have Muslim friends and want to surprise them with some random knowledge lol but seriously it’s a great thing they did here by making it fun and accessible so people can learn about Islam and also just what a lovely series and amazing characters!!!

We love to see amazing wholesome female friendships and loving and supportive and soft guys!!!

All the stars!!! 🌟⭐️💫☀️✨

The perfect ending to the series, this volume continues the everyday, lighthearted scenes that characterize the series, but more are connected this time around, as Nada has her first official meeting with fiance Abdullah and the characters interact with more Saudi and Islamic culture, and then Satoko has to prepare to end her American studies and return to Japan.

It's bittersweet, like any parting between friends. Satoko reflects on how much she's learned and we as the reader can see the difference from volume #1-Satoko. By this time, Satoko is much less likely to be flustered by Nada's idiosyncrasies, American culture, Kevin's otaku geekery, and even jumps at the chance to take a day trip to Niagara Falls--in both countries!

The series as a whole did an excellent job handling the multiple cultures the characters interact with. It's kind; never holding up anything as ridiculous, but certainly showing characters themselves having opinions about things, from Saudi and Japanese culture to American culture including tipping, churchgoing, even complimenting others.

It’s bittersweet to know I have finished the series but glad to find out it ended in the best way for the story. Seeing the friendship of the main leads is always wonderful and even hopeful. We also see some of the supporting characters highlighted too. I almost cried at the end, and I am glad I got to go on this heartwarming journey with the pair. Also, last time I get to say this but can someone at Netflix turn this into an original series?

アメリカ生活のアルアルはまぁ知ってるのばかり(チップはクレジットカードでの払える)だが、やはりイスラム文化の話は面白い:

・アラビア語の言葉は最初にアルが付く率が高い
→Theの意味。

I enjoy these little mangas. They come from such a pure intention, but I always get a little frustrated at the blurred lines of culture and religion.

A lot of things are spot on, while other things are just anecdotal to experienced, culture norms and behaviours of those in Saudia Arabia.

Still enjoyed and love the art.

2020 Read #734

And so ends one of my favorite series where I looked forward to every new volume. This is how you tackle diversity and intersectionality. It is a wonderful series, and I hope more people discover it.

It was bittersweet to see this series and Nada and Satoko's time as roommates come to a close, but also beautiful seeing the friendship that had developed between them and all they had learned and how they had grown over that time. I'm so glad I picked up this series!

I was told not expecting this series at all!! It was just super cute and sweet seeing people from different cultures learn about each other. It's also uncommon to see Islam represented in a manga so this was definitely a surprise, but a welcomed one for sure!
