I lost my mother at birth. Then, I was sent to live with my father’s best friend and his pack when I was only six. My father abandoned me.
I was the lone vampire surrounded by furry protectors. My pack. My heart learned to heal with the help of my mate. I grew, I loved and I started to thrive.
Then.. it all started to change - I changed.
I came to life as a black-as-night panther. Fur, claws, and teeth ready to kill. Now, I have two sides that are fighting for control of one body. Now, people are after me because of my abilities.
Barb is a Carolina girl by right and a Texan by birth. By day, she’s a desk jockey for a rural transportation company and a book lover, reading through as many books as she can. At night, though, she turns into her alter ego: a writer—cape optional, depending on her mood.
Her stories are a mix of real-life events, personal experiences, and the craziness of her own imagination and those of her best friends. And when their imaginations blend together, it can be crazy. Barb writes in multiple genres, encounters new adventures, creates new worlds, and has a fantastic time breathing life into new stories, creating something she hopes inspires anyone who reads to fall in love with them as she has.
Barb lives by one little rule: tomorrow is never guaranteed, so make sure you live each day to its fullest.
Talia has lived with Joshua's pack since she was a small child. They were the best of friends and became her protector. As they grew older their feelings matured as well. His father, the alpha, and his mother treated her as their own.
As they grew older they learn the truth of her beginning and why she was left. She's not a human but the daughter of a royal vampire prince. Her mother died at her birth. When the reason her father left comes to light danger follows. And with the danger, they discover some of the secrets about this special female.
Will her special talents be enough to protect her new family? Will Joshua change his feelings for her when he learns the truth?
The first in the serial is a good story, characters you can care about and villains you want to be ended. The cliffhanger at the end will make you hanker for the next one. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
The prologue of this book completely captivated me and I was very eager to experience the adventure this one would take me on from cover to cover. The power in Shuler's vivid descriptions of what Talia's body was enduring in Chapter 2 made my body ache alongside hers. The drama of Chapters 4 & 5 had my head spinning and my emotions all over the place as I watched the war of wills play out and battle lines fall into place. Truths were being revealed and a pending collision of fates was on the horizon. I was on edge and had a burning need to know more about Talia and everything that she was encountering. So much turmoil and uncertainty was taking place for Talia and it had my head a mess. Shuler did a tremendous job of writing these scenes and getting in my mind with such powerful imagery. All that Talia was learning about herself and her past held me completely rapt throughout this book. I loved this first installment and cannot wait to dive into Book 2!
Shifted : The Oblivion Series Book 1 by Barb Shuler
☆☆☆4 stars☆☆☆
Great beginning to what's sure to be an amazing series of action, love and the creatures we never knew existed, in a world hidden from the human eye.
Talia is learning she's more than what she ever thought possible. She's slowly growing into her true self, and along with it, the powers she holds at her fingertips. Literally.
Joshua has been by Talia's side since she was a young child. He's her everything and would die to protect her. He's the only one that seems to calm her in her times of frustration and sorrow, and it shows the unbreakable bond they share.
Enemies will try to cause harm to Talia, but with Joshua and her loved ones by her side, they will fight with all they have to give. Loving this story and excited for the continuation of their journey and adventures.
What do you get when you have a mate pair who are not only a vampire prince but a powerful druid and shifter ? You get the Oblivion Series from Barb Shuler and I could not put it down.
Trenton and his mate had a hard life and when he thought he lost her he knew he had to protect their daughter no matter what , now years later Talia is coming into her power, her shifter side and also has had he vampire side all along.
Luckily Talia has her fated mate Joshua , his parents who have raised her since her father left and the pack. Now the Druids want her, the fake vampire king wants her too and now they are in for the fight of their lives. This book has awesome twists and turns you don't see coming and I can not wait for the next one!!!
Wow! This book is amazing! Vampires, shifters, throw in some Druid magic. I read this in a few hours. The writing is fantastic. The characters are well-written. The plot is phenomenal. If shifters and vampires are your thing, grab this up. Hopefully, you enjoy as much as I am.
Really great start to this series. Perfect blend of vamp/panther/shifting. Barb done a wonderful bringing out the characters form the back scene as well. I loved hearing the different points of view. I will be patently wait for book 2 to come.
this was the first book in this series and i loved it! she loses her mother and than her father leaves her. she has grown up with a family. now years later she finds out she is a cat. there is trouble coming after her . its fight or die time.
I love this trilogy so far. It's a new look into the Shifting Shadow universe. The characters (Talia, Joshua, Ramport, Sheri, Trenton and other) are amazing and lovable. The story line is very cool and I love how much you learn in the first novel. It does end in a cliff hanger, which usually frustrates me, but the way the author presents it isn't as 'evil' as others. I can not wait to read the next addition to the series.
A good story. It's definitely a unique plot since she thought she was a vampire but then it turns out she's also part witch/Druid and a feline shifter. It was adorable that the Alpha's son knew from such a young age that the tiny broken-hearted daughter of the rightful King of the Vampires was his mate but there's no sexual contact until after her 18th birthday.
It felt a bit choppy at times and hard to follow along but then it'd catch back on track and pull me back in. I'm intrigued to rag the next and see if the rough parts are smoothed out more.
