A fiery revelation has Autumn rethinking everything
When Autumn Rain’s friend begs for help in clearing her doctor boyfriend of negligent homicide, Autumn dives willingly into the case—right along with her fiancé, Detective Shannon Martin.
Autumn’s ability to see scenes and read emotions imprinted on physical objects soon uncovers a list of suspects. She will go to any lengths to save her friend, even if that means calling a screeching halt to her own wedding plans.
Meanwhile a talented young music prodigy is accused of vandalism that will ruin his chance at a future if Autumn doesn’t find the real culprit. But the boy isn’t talking, and Autumn must figure out why. Who is he protecting?
Someone wants to stop Autumn from digging too deep, and she’ll need all her abilities and maybe even a new one to fight back.
Teyla Rachel Branton grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy and watching Star Trek reruns with her large family. They lived on a little farm where she loved to visit the solitary cow and collect (and juggle) the eggs, usually making it back to the house with most of them intact. On that same farm she once owned thirty-three gerbils and eighteen cats, not a good mix, as it turns out. Teyla always had her nose in a book and daydreamed about someday creating her own worlds. She is now married, mostly grown up, and has seven kids, so life at her house can be very interesting (and loud), but writing keeps her sane. She thrives on the energy and daily amusement offered by her children, the semi-ordered chaos giving her a constant source of writing material. Grabbing any snatch of free time from her hectic life, Teyla writes novels full of mystery, romance, and imagination. She warns her children that if they don’t behave, they just might find themselves in her next book! She’s been known to wear pajamas all day when working on a deadline, and is often distracted enough to burn dinner. (Okay, pretty much 90% of the time.) A sign on her office door reads: DANGER. WRITER AT WORK. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. She loves writing fiction and traveling, and she hopes to write and travel a lot more. She also loves shooting guns, martial arts, and belly dancing. She has worked in the publishing business for over twenty years.
I really like this series and I bought this one one release day. It's always fun to follow Autumn along as she solves another mystery with the help of her ability of seeing imprints. Besides a solid mystery there is also plenty about Autumn's life and each book continues to be great and leaves me looking forward to the next one. This is definitely one of those series that keeps going strong!
In Hidden Intent Autumn gets involved in another mystery when a man dies in the hospital. At first it's seen as negligent homicide and the doctor gets blamed. Paige is a good friend of Autumn, Paige her boyfriend Matthew was the doctor responsible. Autumn wants to help Paige and figure out what really happened and the company the dead man worked for also hires her. It slowly becomes clear there was foul play involved and Autumn becomes deeper involved into a dangerous mystery. The main suspects become clear quite quickly, but even so I had a hard time figuring out who was the killer. I liked seeing the mystery play out and how everything fell on it's place. It's also great to see how we learn more about the company, the man who died and the people around him as the mystery progresses and this helps paint a better picture of what happened.
There is also a secondary mystery from a mother who ask Autumn and Elliot for help. Her son is accused of vandalism and this can ruin his future. As Autumn and Elliott investigate they find out what's really going on and it was a nice way to switch a bit between this smaller mystery and the main mystery. As well as the two mysteries there is enough going on in Autumn's personal life as well. She has two big things that happen to her in this book to deal with. One happy and one sad one.
I like seeing what's going on with Autumn and how her life progresses throughout these books. The usual group of side characters is present as well. There are some sweet scenes of Autumn and her fiancé Shannon. As well as plenty of Tawnia and Destiny. I like seeing how Autumn is working together with Elliott a bit as well. And there's more of Cody too and how Autumn doesn't quite see him as her father yet, but they are growing closer and it's interesting to see the whole situation play out.
The imprints are as usual an important part of the mystery solving process and I like how the author weaves this paranormal aspect into the story.
To summarize: this was another great read in this series. This series continues to be a great one with each book having a new mystery for Autumn to solve as well as Autumn and her life progressing throughout the book. I liked the mystery in this one, it was interesting to slowly figure out more of what happened and I was never sure of who was the killer until the reveal at the end. And it made sense who had done it, which I like in a mystery. There is also a smaller mystery going on as well and it's nice to see both mysteries play out. As well as plenty of things going on in Autumn's personal life. She has one happy event coming up, but also a sad one that happens later in the book. All in all I really enjoyed reading this one and already look forward to the next book in this series! I would definitely recommend it if you like mystery/ suspense books with a paranormal twist.
I so want to give it more than 5 stars. I LOVED THE BOOK. Autumn is trying to juggle her store, her side job as investigator and imprint reader, with getting married and a new possible partnership for her investigation jobs. So much to do and so little time. Little does she know all of her worlds are about to collide. This time she has a medical mystery to solve involving a corporation as well as a high school mystery while also planning her wedding in 3 weeks. I can't say too much without spoiling this wonderful story but I will say emotions ran high while I read it. This is even more touching than some of Branton's other books and that is saying a lot. So much of what Autumn is dealing with made me think of my own current situation of going through my mom's stuff. I cried and smiled as well as went through so many other emotions. I love the Imprint series and can't wait to read more. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this awesome book.
With murder, vandalism, arson and a wedding to contend with there is no time to rest for Autumn, Shannon, Elliott, Paige and others whose participation either contributes to the mayhem, help solve the cases or maintain a level of sanity and calm while everything gets sorted out. Teyla Branton keeps you guessing until the end. Autumn’s capacity to read imprints is always intriguing and she eventually discovers the culprit or culprits. Clean, fast paced with interesting characters and plot make this a satisfying read and well worth recommending to others.
Hidden Intent is an exciting story that will keep you guessing until the end. So many suspects, but only one did the deeds. Following the clues kept me turning pages long after I should have turned out the lights. One of the things I like most about the characters, is the emotional growth they each experience as the series progresses. I really appreciate the differing personal dynamics of all the characters and how they mesh together to support each other. This is the 7th book in the series and I'm eager to read number 8. A wonderful series. Enjoy!
Omg!!!! I love this series, and I'm both saddened and excited to read the last book of this series. I love the story line and the characters. The cases are so well thought out, I'm usually really good at solving and guessing who did it. This series has certainly kept me on my toes guessing and trying to figure it all out. I highly recommend this series. Happy Reading!!!
I love the stories of Autumn Rain they are always filled with excitement and danger. A lot of action goes on and the supernatural aspect is fantastic or as Autumn Rain says she uses her brain more than others. I loved this one the best and have been waiting for it for awhile now. Teyla Branton has done a fantastic job in keeping one enthralled on each page.
Awesome! I absolutely love these mystery novels and this was probably my favorite so far simply because of the ending. Yes, it promises more but each story has it's close before it opens to the next book. I stopped at 15% to read other things and homework. I started right back in and finished it on the same day.
I must admit to bring biased. I love this series. Each book has just been a delight to read. I liked this one as not too dark, but still has all the mystery, drama, danger, and love you could ask for. Plus, the bad guys loose!
So many imprints and so little time. Again the intrepid Autumn along with her team of private eyes, employees, family and police friends including her Detective fiance goes above and beyond.
