Duane Boehm has written another western novel with enough humor, heartbreak, love, and outlaws to keep you turning the page.
Duane Boehm grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All the time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of opportunity to let his imagination run wild and not tear up too much equipment. The two passions he developed early in life were the love of playing guitar and reading books.
He eventually moved to a mini-farm outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife and replaced planting corn with trees and raising dogs. For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and continued with being a part-time musician and songwriter. He dabbled in writing short stories with the idea in the back of his mind that someday he would write a novel. One Christmas after watching "A Christmas Carol", he was inspired to begin his journey as a novelist.
Been a long time follower of Mr. Boehm, and never read one of his stories that wasn't a successful sense of our realistic old American western folklore adventures! This story is definitely one of his most heartwarming experiences I have had the opportunity to follow, although there were some very disturbing, and suspenseful, moments throughout the entire story. One of those I can't put the book aside until the final paragraph is read. Too there has to be a follow-up story somewhere!
Most definitely another five star masterpiece by one of the most compelling western authors of all times. Never read one of his stories that wasn't five stars worthy! Outstanding character selections throughout the entire story and the compassionate storylines successfully depicts realistic episodes from beginning to end! Too, the story depicts two brothers, Ike and Luca, as they journey to avenge the death of their parents, by a couple brothers they had previously sent to prison! Very detailed gunfights that leads to more death and and destruction, and not always the bad guys. Outstanding suspenseful moments throughout this compelling western masterpiece of old American western folklore stories. Too there are moments of heartwarming romance, involving Luca, and his former girlfriend, Alannah! Certainly have no problem recommending this compelling western masterpiece to all readers, but especially you western enthusiasts, who like a list the suspenseful episodes to what your appetite. Even you non-western readers will enjoy these two brothers, as they start their tasks of righting the wrongs perpetrated by two worthless outlaw brothers Mackey and Rusty. You will enjoy the surprise that comes between these four men! Enough said! Read this outstanding story, as You will be well compensated for your time!😄
There are those times when doing what is right can create a dangerous situation. Bad blood can cause warped thoughts to become ambitions, resulting in more bad things happening. Following the murder of Ike Gunther's family he and brother Luna accept a mission to punish the villains. What a twist to learn that the villains are Ike and Luke's half-brothers, and open a whole new chapter of life. There is a saying that "true love never dies", and this proves to be the case as the story ends with a happily ever after smile.
Fresh out of prison, two killers murder a rancher’s family and the chase for justice is personal.
A fascinating tale with great characters and unexpected twists as two killers learn there are other brothers in the family, Catholic vs Protestant is real, growing up in the west often gets physical, and even unrequited love lasts a long time. Page-turning action over many miles to a surprise ending with hot lead for cold lawless feet. Well worth the time.
The Mr Clure brothers try to kill the Gunther brothers. They kill One's family and leave him for dead. Luka comes home to find them. He takes care of Ike. They track the McClure to their home town. Luka gets the love of his life back after very nearly dying. There are a few surprises.
Excellent storyline, a real twist near the end! Boehm writes western the way they should be written. He is in the same league as Zane Grey, Louis Lamour, and Elmer Kelton. Thank you for providing me with high quality entertainment as I wait out the isolation caused by the Corona Virus pandemic.
There are four things you can count on these days. The oceans will be blue. The stars will shine. Women will still secretly rule the world. And Mr. Boehm will give you a story that will capture the rugged life of our forefathers who tamed the west.
This book was well written with great characters and lots of action surrounding the characters. Would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good love story with great sadness as well.
Trail To Yesterday by Duane Boehm. I loved the characters and the storyline. Some humor, a lot of gunfights and western drama. A sweet romance and it ended to soon. I wanted it to go on just a bit longer. I loved this book.
Duane has done it again. He continues to give us a great tale of western life. His characters are genuine and quickly become old friends. He has quite a way to draw you in to his story.
Although Luka and Allannah courted for several years, her father would not consent to her marrying a man outside the Catholic faith. How they finally resolved this obstacle is a grand tale.
I've read all of his books, and this not up to his usual standards. Compared to the Johan series the characters lacked depth, and their interactions were a little weak. Similar to another reviewer comments, I felt that the romance was pretty tepid.
A novel about the relationship between brothers. One set of brothers are just plain evil. One set of brothers are just plain good. A novel about the interaction of two sets of brothers. A good one.
I have read almost all of Mr Boehm’s books. I simply could not put them down. I had to laugh, in almost all he’s books when he described a dinner, the menu was steak, baked potatoes and green beans. Thank you Mr Boehm for some most enjoyable reads!!
This was the best Western. This author makes tears come into your eyes as you follow this story.. Would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a picture of our wonderful WEST.
This was an interesting read by Duane. It had everything. There were surprises and it had a very good ending. It deserves the five stars because it kept my interest the whole read. Keep up the good work.
Wow! Whay a great tale! The author put a lot onto this to make it stand out and really grab the reader, and pull them in! It was really well written, and showed a quality of writing not always available.
Ike and Luka leave Colorado and their law enforcement career to start over. They cannot escape their past and the outlaws who are overtaking their home town in Colorado. Luka and Ike return and engage in intrigue and gun play as they attempt to bring law and ordered to their home town. Luka is able to reignite the love he left behind.
Duane Boehm has written a story that is filled with interest, well developed personalities and human drama. It was an interesting story that I would recommend to others.
I have enjoyed every book I have read from Mr. Boehm but I do believe this to be my favorite. What a great story with plenty of surprises and some tugging on the heart strings
