Cadence is a personal collection that crawls under your skin and stays with you even long after you put the book down. With honesty and a pack of raw emotions, Cadence dives right into the depths of new and old love, loss, depression, heartbreak, coming of age and much more. It is meant to heal the pain that life leaves behind.
Ramona Meisel is an artist, writer and mythology nerd living in Germany. She’s a strange human hybrid of mended bones and a soul ripped apart at the edges. Her tongue is sharp enough to cut and her mind keen enough to bleed. When she’s not haunting the net she’s perfectly content to lose time in prose and poetry.
While I am not a fan of modern poetry, especially that which is usually published on tumblr on instagram, I have to say this collection is beautiful and intimate in ways I can never describe. The writing is vivid and gorgeous and breath-taking and her references to mythology are well weaved throughout a modern context. This poet deserves so much more fame than she is currently getting.
Also I got the movie references to Prince of Egypt in Lost Relics :)
It seems to me that Ramona Meisel words are painfully magical, I can't resist. My goal in life is now to read every word she writes. Even her shopping list. I bet it would be poetical. ^^
This collection has a rocky start with the first poem being the worst of the bunch, but after that it's all uphill! I especially enjoyed "Origins" and "Starseed".
