Special Agent Diana Sheen is in an unending battle…

… against magical villains on Earth, more of them from another planet, and her own government.

The enemy’s use of a dire artifact requires a response. BAM will have to go after their own artifacts to even the score.

But there are plenty of people standing in her way.

A council of alien magic users who want the artifacts for themselves.

The underground leader who was pivotal in breaking the back of the city’s covert Ultramax.

A local gang who has the ARES team in their sights.

And don’t forget about the escapees from prison who are looking for revenge.

But there are those on the side of good, as well. Rath gets a new trainer and Diana’s teacher gets another student.

Finally, Kayleigh’s new partner is certain to be trouble, and the newest field agent fields a magic they haven’t seen before.

It’s barely controlled chaos as the team digs in behind the scenes to ferret out the secrets they need to finally turn the tables on their enemies.

Magic or mundane, you hurt people in their city, and BAM is gonna bring you down.

It’s all in a day’s work at the newest bureau of the Federal Agents of Magic.

For a thrilling action-adventure with spells, guns, hand to hand combat, and just the right amount of snark, join the team today!

I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.

I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.

My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.

Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

Fun, action, great addition to the story

I really enjoy the world building. Max and Rath are great fun. Hope to see Diana's magic increase and the addition of new players is future fun, with the snark and camaraderie of all the agents, it is fast action and am anxious to get started on book 6. The three author's are doing a fantastic job.

Moving along!

Things are really moving along, and we see new strands woven into the story. It’s fun seeing Rath growing and adapting. Trolls are awesome! The storyline is developing well, and we see more power plays being made. But the book ended!!! Now to wait for Agents of Order.

Of course it’s good!

Great characters and great action like all the Federal books. At the end I saw something about a two troll double trouble story? It’s got my vote!

Everyone, who seems to move on the chess board, that is Agent Diana Sheen's life, is moving slowly around into their final places, in this book.

Diana's team is growing, with every new addition adding positively to their cause. Rath has managed to get a new trainer, while also confronting a vigilante who seems determined to kill all of the criminals that BAM are wanting to capture, for the nformation they hold, on the group, Remembrance.

Rath and Max are still patrolling the City, too, and are making new connections that Rath hopes will help in their fight against the Remembrance.

Unfortunately, it seems as though, just as Diana's team gets a grasp on them, Remembrance does something sudden, that makes them step back a little, once more. Even with Sloan's inside info, things are becoming sticky for the team.

There's one positive, though: Diana, Rath, Cara, and their Drow Trainer, Nylotte, plan to go to Oriceran, to try and find Rhazdon's Vengeance, a set of magical knives, made to counter the Set of Rhazdon's Armour, that was lost to Remembrance.

The only thing that is keeping Diana's team safe, right now, though, is the fact that the Remembrance are more keen on infighting right now, than they are in catching BAM out of place!

I am really enjoying this series. It has a great balance between the action scenes, and the character/plot building. I'm loving reading this, and discovering all the new things happening with each book.

Saying that, I'm eager to go on to the next book in the series, which is book six: 'Agents of Order'. So I'm going to finish off this review, and do that very thing.

Once I'm done with this next book, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it!

The 5th book in the series and it just keeps getting better and better.

The main plot in this book is that not only is Agent Diana Sheen facing alien enemies from another planet but now her government is out to sabotage her and the Agency! Plus the enemy from another planet is using a majorly powerful artifact to take out Diana and her Agency for good! Diana's solution? Acquire artifacts of their own! When you add in a gang that is determined to destroy ARES completely, Diana and her agents are in for the fight of their lives!

Rath the troll has a major part to play and he gets a new teacher! Diana's magic teacher also acquires another agent to train alongside Diana.

This book is full of magic, battles, wins, and losses. There are also plots within plots with some characters seemingly to work for their own purpose and not the Agency to which they belong.

Probably the best book of the entire series in my opinion.

Excellent characters

A great story needs creative deep seeded characters with deep seeded emotions and talents. This tales successes revolve around a very inventive concept with characters with deep emotions that do note fail or waver to keep the epic story very captivating!

The Plot Thickens & Twists

Diana Sheen and the other characters continue to evolve with their strengths and weaknesses getting better so that any weaknesses become strengths. They learn and train on a constant basis to become who they are. More training is their model.

Chasing more

The thrill of the chase as well as searching for more is a great assumption for these intrepid agents of good. They thrive on this aspect of what they do.

There is a major issue with this book. Sarah says, “You will continue to lead our human forces. Wysse will lead our magical followers”. The problem is Wysse died in the last book. Here are the two lines were that is irrefutable:
Chapter 24 - The witch fell silent and the blaze still did not cease until nothing remained but ash. It took only seconds.
Chapter 25 - ... mumbled something about needing to replace Wysse...
That is a very sloppy mistake to make.
Further along in the book Diana thinks to herself that something has been up with Cara ever since the fight at the Core. That should have been the Cube.

Overall this has a good flow to it. We got a new friend for Rath, as well as someone who is not quite an enemy.
Speaking of enemies, we met another of them. The in-fighting of the ones we were already acquainted with has reached new levels.

On the friends side of things Nylotte referred to Diana as her protégé! I guess the old Drow has finally admitted that Diana is more than just a student who regularly exasperates her. Having Cara join in with the training (especially with her new toys) is a good move. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Whom is the main protagonist of the series?

I definitely enjoyed the series. And I found this book just as ingratiating as the last one. It was full of actions Snark and a fun fast-paced read what I am not sure of is who is the main protagonist in this book? Is it Diana or Cara? 18 needs a true leader someone who stands above all others. And I disagree with the fact that the authors have left Starsky and hutch out of the mix. A true team cannot function if part of the team is divided. Besides those issues I am going to go on and read the next book. I hope people will enjoy it as much as I have

Enjoying these stories. Lots of action and some humor as well. Diana and her team are getting stronger and it is not too soon. Remembrance is coming after them.
