Vampires Éduard and Larthia just want to live the good life in West Hollywood. When the Halloween street festival turns into a feast for zombies, they try to find a way to return civilization to normal. With their friends Lazarko the Russian werewolf and Gary the Gay Ghost, they travel through an apocalyptic Los Angeles, meeting trolls, fairies, pixies, a famous movie director, and an angry god or two. Can they unite the supernatural creatures of L.A. against the undead horde?
Vampzompocalypse is a smooth blend of slapstick comedy and a zombie horror theme with a strong influence of Hollywood and the movie industry. This genre often called Zom Com or Zomedy, the author Robin Reed subtly and not so subtly uses horror clichés as its main source of humor. Each imaginative character compliments the other perfectly and the author does not fail to deliver a fun and off the wall storyline. The reader will become addicted to the satiric humor woven intricately throughout the story with the references and discussions of movies, producers, directors, actors, and political figures. The quest to save the world from Zombies is the primary focus in the storyline. Our main characters, Éduard and his wife Larthia are Vampires—and along with their close friends, Gary the gay ghost, and Lazarko, a shape shifter, they lead the brigade and devise a plan to stop the zombies from eating every human in the world.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The author did a wonderful job of weaving a great story blended with Hollywood monsters, classic monsters all within the backdrop of Los Angeles. This is a fun read.
