A Passionate Love

Rate this book
Simone Brooks and Cameron Bennett should not be together. She’s a wealthy socialite looking for a suitable husband. A man with the right pedigree and an economic status that matches her own. He’s part owner of the hottest nightclub in Atlanta with his siblings. Someone who loves cooking, the outdoors, and women, not necessarily in that order.

After one night together, their sizzling chemistry makes it difficult to stay away. Then comes the hard part—navigating their differences to salvage a relationship that, while it may be imperfect, overflows with love and passion.

I just knew I was going to hate this book but, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed A Passionate Love. It was actually very entertaining. I loved me some Simone and Cameron. They were a cute couple. It takes a strong woman to love a man who doesn't have a cell phone or any kind of streaming services. Whew chile! That meddling azz Sylvie worked my last damn nerve. She was so stuck up and pretentious. Here she comes sticking her nose in Simone and Cameron's relationship and trying to break them up. Ugh! Please have several seats Sylvie. As always, Sean Crisden did the damn thing. His narration is always on point. This was my first book by Delaney Diamond and I really enjoyed it.

What an awesome love story! I just adored Simone and Cameron. They were total opposites but, they were absolutely perfect for one another. Simone is a wealthy socialite who’s smitten by the handsome but, gruff club owner. Their journey to HEA was a little bumpy but, so worth the ride. A Passionate Love was a great read. I asked my good sis Nette (Annette Williams to y'all) to recommend a new to me author and she came through with Delaney Diamond. I enjoyed this book immensely and I look forward to reading more from this author.

We Can Handle It

No nonsense, rich, sexy, smart Simone Brooks run into a concrete wall when she meets the first born of the Bennett triplets debonair, charming, gracious Cameron Bennett. Old money meets I have money, with a mother straight out of medlingville and a so called curse. As Cameron and Simone continue to throw off the backlash, learn to say I'm sorry, keep communication between each other they learn they will always have A Passionate Love. Awesome series Candace Shaw, Sharon C. Cooper, and Delaney Diamond.

Sweet, Spicy and Sexy! I love that when Simone and Cameron are by themselves, they are really perfect together. But as soon as the "world" (Simone's snooty mother and judgmental sister), remind them that their economic status is not compatible, all the trouble begins. It is hysterical when Simone and Cameron meet up, at the same restaurant, with their "dates". Will Cameron step up to the plate and fight for Simone so that they can have their HEA?

Simone and Cameron fell flat to me. Aside from Simone’s philanthropic endeavors and big heart for the needy, it seemed like all the story would talk about was her riches and privileged lifestyle.

Cameron was the embodiment of the type of hero I do not like: possessive, controlling, judgmental, presumptuous. I honestly was turned off by his playboy and domineering ways. Yet he had the gall and audacity to demonize and scrutinize Simone when she interacted with other men (which was for professional reasons, but Cameron couldn’t be bothered to even find that out). So I suppose I could add misogyny to his lists of negative qualities. He often allowed his anger to control his reaction towards her and the way his behaviors were handled often left me unsatisfied and frustrated.

Yes, Simone and Cameron lusted over one another and connected sexually (though I wasn’t particularly blown away with these scenes), but romantically, I was not convinced. They lacked chemistry and they often struggled with their social and financial difference. This never really seemed to be effectively resolved.

Many of the other side characters were either one dimensional (e.g. Simone’s sister) or caricatures (e.g. Simone’s mother).

However, I did like the writing style and this was a fairly quick read. I’ll probably look into the author’s backlist to see if I find a story that more aligns with my reading tastes.

I am so glad I chose to read this series in the order I did, saving this installment for last. Even though the books are written by three different authors, and happen chronologically simultaneously, reading them from the youngest triplet, Harper, to the oldest, Cameron, was best. Cameron, the oldest by minutes, is looked up to as the head of the siblings. He is the one always giving advice and around to be the voice of stubborn reason. He is very old school. Then he meets Simone; a wealthy socialite that spend her days as an ambassador for her family's foundation. This foundation his how the author ties this book to her Johnson Family Series. This connection also set up, in my mind, the possibility of a continued series about Simone's siblings. This book, and entire multi-author series is fantastic

I listened to the audiobook. The narration was decent. I could easily forget there was one person narrating. I also liked the way Sean Crisden adopted the tone of the "narrator" of the book before he would switch over to a character voice.

I was surprised that I felt no chemistry between Cam and Simone. Nothing. I didn't care for Simone. I really disliked her mother. I felt like Cam had a pair of brass ones coming at Simone about what she was doing. I was shocked at the sheer audacity of his response at the restaurant. I was pretty disgusted at the way they disrespected their dates.

I ended up not caring about their HEA. I am going with 2.5 stars and hoping the couple in the 2nd book has a little more chemistry. My suggestion would be that you read this book and judge for yourself. It just may hit you in a different way.

Loved,Loved It!

I was looking forward to this series by three awesome authors. This is the first book I read in this series and as always Delaney delivered. A blue collar hero and a millionaire heroine. A great read. Short but sweet.

A fantastic wrap-up to a great series. The Bennett Triplets is such a good read and I am sorry to see it end.

Cameron Bennett the oldest by mere minutes of his triplet siblings, so because of this Harper and Mason always look to him. Cameron is a young man with an old soul, he isn't into the latest gadgets, he gave up his cell phone years ago and figured if anyone need to get in touch with him, they can either call the club or his home. He looks the simple things in life and is an excellent chef and loves cooking for his family and friends. Cameron is also one of the co-owners with his siblings of Club Masquerade and quite the ladies man. He has no thoughts of settling down until he spots a woman who look to be in distress.

Simone Brooks comes from money, old money, she is the fundraiser for the Johnson Foundation which is her family's business. They do a lot of charity work by helping the less fortunate, the poor, the destitute. Simone is great at her job which she loves but she loves helping people more. She meets Cameron at his club because one of their friends was having a divorce party, with a little too much to drink and no food on her stomach, Simone makes a run to the bathroom unbeknownst to her she runs into one of the owners and empties her stomach on his shoes and the bottom of his pants leg LOL!!!!

Cameron can't believe his eyes, he is entranced by the woman who vomited on his shoes, Simone is embarrassed beyond belief but for her, he sets her heart on fire. Two people from different backgrounds are wondering how and if they can make this work but first, a date to make up for the shoes being watered down and the date is to a cooking class, how unique and exciting. First dates can either go really well or really bad, Cameron and Simone's date was right there to turning really bad but a quick turnaround and the date went smoothly. Two people on the outside appear to be very different but on the inside, their hearts beat the same.

Cameron and Simone will have to work through some issues first, missteps, hurt feelings, frustrations, misunderstandings. It is enough to make you shake your head and say, no thanks but when the heart beats for that one person and the heart wants what it wants with that one person, the two people will find and make a way. Cameron and Simone are perfect for each other and balance each other out.

A stellar ending to a stellar series. I am curious though (and this is for the author), if we can get a HEA for Simone's mother Sylvia and her father Oscar? Inquiring minds would love to know.

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao Bellas!

I was drawn in by the title as well as the cover of this novel by Delaney Diamond and was curious how this love story would unfold. So, let’s meet Simone Brooks, a wealthy socialite who’s smitten by the handsome, Cameron Bennett, an owner of Club Masquerade, one of the hottest clubs in Atlanta. Sparks fly but there’s the issue of whether he’s good enough for her.

What I really enjoyed about this novel was that love prevailed but not without a few hiccups and soul searching. Simone has a very philanthropic heart ever since she was a child growing up in a very wealthy family. Unfortunately, she was never lucky in love having recently broken up with her boyfriend and adjusting to moving from Seattle to Atlanta. The attraction between her and Cameron was instantaneous. She had a certain flair about her and spent lavishly on anything she wanted. He was a hard worker who was careful with his money, loved the outdoors, cooking and being with his siblings.

Their worlds were different and Sylvie Johnson, Simone’s mother made it known to Cameron when she showed up at his home unannounced knowing her daughter was out of town. At this point, Cameron began to doubt whether the relationship would work because he was not wealthy and felt unworthy. But not being with Simone would hurt him too much to throw away his love for her.

Overall, it was a quick and fun read! I enjoyed the dialogue and the descriptions which placed you right in the action in and out of the bedroom. I was glad that Simone got some clarity after talking to her father about his divorce from her mother and why her mother acted the way she did. But in the end love conquered all. And yes, I would read something by Delaney Diamond again.

Some of my favorite lines:

Simone took a deep breath. “My mother, Ella, and I think that maybe we’re cursed or something, and the only way to be truly happy is to find a man who is just as wealthy as we are. My father was not wealthy, and he left my mother. My brother-in-law was not wealthy, and he left my sister. When you reacted so negatively about the clothes I bought, an alarm went off in my head. I wanted to buy you the furniture because you’re always so good to me, and I wanted to do something for you—to show you how much I love and appreciate you. But I hesitated, wondering how you’d react. Then, I did it. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it was a test, and you reacted the way that I’d feared.”

Oof. [These audiobooks read so quickly! <3]

Anyway. Simone Brooks and Cameron Bennett. I think I'm glad I read Sylvie's book before this one because had I read this one first ... man ... I dunno if I'd have read Sylvie's 😒 she's kinda a pretentious classist asshole...
I get it's all "I want the best for my kids" - and esp with her own experience coloring shit for her...

but like - just because dude isn't a billionaire doesn't mean he's a bad guy. AND ALSO ... Dude IS making good money. Especially for a "normal person." And also also - billionaires are a fucking moral failing of society. 😒 ...

:| yeah I checked when this book was published. 2019.
[A tiny bit of me is wondering am I like LOW KEY giving Black romances a pass since I mean - they didn't get enough space or attention and still don't and HOW many white billionaires are running around romanceland? Literally thousands I'd bet ...

but you know. Fuck billionaires. 😒]

Ok. LOL I can't even remember if the [Brooks] are ACTUALLY billionaires ... but ... I think so?
They're definitely $$$$

*Dec 27, 2020 => I ... clearly don't remember what I was writing; and I think potentially the above was written some time in December instead of when I first finished the book? I also don't remember if I listened to the book twice or not 🤷🏻‍♀️

:X so => Simone and Cameron. Simone is kinda ... not SPOILED exactly but ... I think she kinda judges Cameron? Not as much as her mom does ...
She's not PRESENT though - I remember their first date, the cooking lesson I think? She was a jerk who was totally late [can't remember if she had a valid excuse or not] - but she was on her phone the whole time ...

I recall communication issues ... they were annoying and bothersome but I don't remember if they were book "ruining."
Like I know I'm not mad I read it, but I don't know that I'd listen again ...

I don't feel comfortable grading this book, it being like 3.5 months later.

Simone Brooks comes from a wealthy family and she is unapologetic about it. Cameron is an old-fashioned gentleman who likes to open doors and pay for his date etc. This isn't what he gets with Simone, who can afford way more than he can.

Frankly, Cameron was a bit of a jerk in a couple of scenes, but that brought a sense of realism to his character. I liked the fact that Simone wasn't your usual spoilt rich girl, which brought depth to her character. The secondary characters were also memorable, especially Simone's mother (who, it turns out, is the heroine of book 2 of the Brooks Family series).

This book is unique in that it is part of two different series: Book 1 of the Brooks Family series and an installment of the multi-author Bennett Triplets series. The epilogue gave some spoilers about the other two books in the Bennett Triplets series. Even though, they are standalones, I wonder if one might be better off reading the other two before this one.

Ms Diamond's storytelling flows smoothly as she weaves a tale of two people of unequal social standing doing what it takes to make it work. A Passionate Love is a fairly quick read that delivers a romance, a sexy hero and heroine, sizzling sex scenes and some family drama.

I enjoyed this story so much that I immediately 1-Clicked the next book in the series. Very curious about that one.

I was surprisingly frustrated

I read A Passionate Kiss that featured Mason's story... didn't realize these were connected. And I'll say that Cameron's character seemed waaaaay different in that book than this one.

Respectfully, I didn't care for any of these characters, except maybe Oscar. But Ella, Simone, their stuck-up mama, and Cameron all irked me to the point I was rolling my eyes and literally fussing out loud.

I was kinda into Cameron and Simone at first, though the chemistry was kinda ehh. But it didn't take long for that to slide. And it plummeted with the restaurant scene when they were on dates with other people. That, and their lack of remorse for what they did, turned me off. And when Cameron (who I was no big fan of) would express his perfectly valid frustrations to Simone (who DID have her elitist moments), somehow he always ended up running after her and taking the blame for everything, apologizing when he wasn't necessarily wrong. I hate that the-woman-is-always-right stuff. They could've dealt with it, but him always absolving her was infuriating.

By the end, I'd kinda checked out and wasn't interested in the HEA, which is strange to even say.

Simone Brooks and Cameron Bennett

Simone is part of the affluent Johnson family and Cameron is part owner of a successful night club with his siblings (they are triplets).

They meet when Simone is hosting a divorce party for one of her friends at his club. Their meeting is not the best, but they both feel a connection and decide to go out.

Neither is looking for anything serious, but they can't stop thinking about each other. The have a few obstacles, mainly the difference in their stations. Simone has been taught that men have a hard time accepting that their woman has more money than they do and can't cope. And considering that her sister and her mother have had disastrous marriages, this seems to be true.

The question is how are these two going to navigate their issues, while also dealing with well-meaning family members.

I have yet to read a Delaney Diamond book I didn't like so I had high expectations when I picked up A Passionate Love. I was not disappointed.

My biggest question as I read through the book and fanned myself as things got hot between Simone and Cameron was how could these two people from succinctly different worlds maintain a relationship? Cameron is a hard working club owner who is, to be honest, a bit frugal in how he spends his money while Simone has always had money and knows how to buy, buy, buy and buy some more. Money can be a huge conflict between couples and I loved the way their issues were worked out in a realistic way through open communication, sheer will, and of course, love.

Opposites attract only if you want it..

I enjoyed the story of the princess and the pauper..no- just kidding. Cam is part owner of a high end nightclub along with his siblings..he makes a good living and loves the ladies..Simone has money, social status, and a high profile position with her family’s foundation..can these two lifestyles come together?

Great story..they have crazy chemistry and Cam learns to enjoy the excess and Simone learns to appreciate a man’s dedication and work ethic.

This is my first time reading a book by Delaney Diamond and I must say that I really enjoyed Cameron and Simone's love story! They had an attraction from the moment that they met, however they had to learn that true love doesn't mean that they couldn't enjoy the finer things in life that "wealthy" Simone was use to, vs. the simple things that Cameron was use to! Their journey to love relied on their ability to communicate and not let their social status or lack there of define their relationship!

I enjoyed this book

I have read several Delaney Diamond novels and have enjoyed them all. For me, this one started off slow. And I almost stopped reading. But then I turned one more page and couldn't stop reading. I enjoyed the chemistry between Simone and Cameron. Lets just Cameron would have had me unable to get out of bed...the intense passion he had. Simone was very lucky to have met him. So now, I'm going to read the rest of the series. But I'm sure I'll come back to Cameron.

This is the first story in the Brooks Family. This was an exciting story of a wealthy woman, Simone and a Rich man, Cameron. Usually, a woman has to get use to a man's wealth this is just the opposite story. Cameron owned Masquerade a Night club in Atlanta, so he wasn't poor, but he didn't have the wealth she did. They had to contend with her mother and her sister. Her mother divorced her father, she married her father who was not wealthy as her and so Simone had to contend with what happened to her mother. But I am glad that Cam and Simone got their happily ever after. Good read.

A Young, but Mature Couple

Finally! Reading about characters who possess common sense and rationality is truly refreshing. The writer does not high jack our emotions by taking us on a long, exhausting roller coaster ride. Simone and Sam's relationship is simplistic and transparent. With each chapter we are challenged to relax and to settle down in our own places of peace and rest.

Two hearts

I enjoyed this book in the series that I am reading. "The Brooks Family". When I want to read romance for the 30 something crowd this author is my go to read. I started reading her works from , "The Blind Date" of the "Love Unexpected" series. The "Hawthorne Family" series is a winner too. I have to read the two books from "Bennett Triplets" to learn about Cameron's sister and brother. Keep writing

Interesting Circumstances

That old saying "opposits attract " is so true. This story proves it. In any relationships there will be challenges, that have to be worked through or let go if. No relationship is perfect. If you truly love each other nothing will hinder its success. Communication is the key to everything. Pay attention to your own heart and mind your surroundings and not to what others think or say.

Good book for series lovers!

If you enjoy a romance series, grab this book! From the first page this book draws you into the lives of two families, both successful yet in vastly different social circles. This book was a sweet love story between Cameron and Simone, nothing too shocking or unpredictable, yet the storyline continued to draw me to the next page. It'll be interesting to follow the Brooks family as they evolve.

Good from beginning to end

Simone Johnson comes from wealth and she likes to enjoy the company of men while Cameron is a night club owner of the hottest club in town. Cameron also enjoys the company of women. Cameron and Simone are instantly attracted to each other and I love how their passionate affair unfolds.

Riveting

I liked this book tremendously. It would have been better if Simone wasn't so rich, and Cameron had a business that he would have been able to keep up with Simone money-wise. Also, if they could have been married and had children. But that's just me. Thank you Miss\Mrs\Ms. Diamond for entertaining me, with your writing skills. 🔥

“A Passionate Love” was a good read. Cameron brings balance to Simone’s life. These two people are good with and too each other. Thereafter, there’s an undeveloped sub plot, between Sylvie & Oscar. Why is Sylvie a snob, judgemental & mean? Hopefully, these questions & more will be answered in book two of this Brooks Family series.

Merger for love....

A delightfully written story about how people from different socio-economic backgrounds try their hand at love. True to life difficulties that make the characters seem real and their struggles relatable. A great read!!
