Bay-be Queen Courtney, honey child, this one right here, hmm!!! I aight gonna lie, EVERYBODY pissed me off!
Let's address that blue eyed white devil😒. From the moment he opened his mouth my antennas was like, run bih run🏃🏾🏃🏾🏃🏾. It just have me bad vibes, to eager to "help". When Reese was being nasty, it pissed me off. When she tried to interject when he "offered her the extra seat"🙄😒. But when she showed up at the house, I realized why😳. I loved and appreciated her for putting her life on the line by warning her of what she was really signing herself up for. Like the saying goes, you can lead a horse to the water but you can't make him drink😔. To hear everyone referto theblue eyed devil as a "midget", he definitely got support man issues, he probably suffers from ed or one of those men who can only get it up by taking it, got self esteem problems so he mentally, verbally and physically abuse topping girls, young impressionable girls.
I felt sooo bad for Thuy, like😔. Her daddy issues mixed with the loss of her mom, too much. To know what he had her doing all those years😔, then three way huge talked to her, treated her. I was thankful to know she wasn't totally alone. Renee was heaven sent, despite fighting her own demons, she was able to be there did for Thuy. I cried for her when her dad passed, ik that pain😭.
Rashaad was a broken man. But from the moment he stayed up talking to Thuy he was stuck. Like the man caught a flight to LA, just to be close encase she needed him💕. He had his flaws and had no problem talking about his not so perfect pass. His relationship with God was very important to him and although others wanted to keep reminding him of who he used to be our what he used to do, he refuse to love in the pass.
Wooo chil, this book was full of sooo many twist and turns and it was most definitely a page turner. Let's go part 2!
I loved reading this book had my attention from the very beginning. The storyline and character development was great. This book will definitely have you feeling all types of emotions but its all worth it. Thuy has been through a lot and as much as she tries to break away from the life she's been living the control Grim has on her has broken her down to where she doesn't know which way to go. I had hope for her and Rashad but after that shocking ending I don't know what to think. Can't wait for book 2. Overall great read highly recommend reading.
I kind of read this authors books backwards with her most recent writings first. I can definitely see growth with each new release but even taking it back to this she is 🔥! I love how her characters aren’t typical. Thuy and her siblings on paper would have assumed to have had a blessed childhood just based on their dad’s legendary status and the success of most siblings but so many things happened within their walls. I was captivated from page one as we were presented with Thuy in crises. It was like watching a scary movie as she encountered Mike/ Grim. Rashad seemed like a knight in shining armor. His past was just as troubled.
Please tell me she not dead!!!! No no no!!! This story is so good, and emotional. To be brain washed at an early age and have no self confidence, no feelings. Turning to drugs to nunb what little feelings you have left. Feeling everyone is against you, who do u turn too!!! I need part 2!!!!
Thuy and her family have been through so much pain and disappointment that it’s Amazing they are able to function. I love the relationship between Shads family and Thuy because they don’t judge. Everyone has a past and a story to tell. She definitely deserves healing and some happiness in her life
This book was so good, plot twist and all. I could not put it down. The only reason I did not give a 5 is the editing, there were too many mixups in who was talking that made you have to go back a reread. I just want to read and enjoy this next book. Read this book!
Wow! I wasn't expecting that ending. This was a really good read. One of my favorite parts was Goldie's prayer in the hospital.. I teared up. I can't wait to see what's to come!
Ok, so this was my first read from this author and she didnt disappoint. This book was about Thuy, a girl who left home after a fight with her family. She ended up getting mixed up with a horrible a** man . She eventually met Prophet and it was the first time she meet a man that didnt want her for the wrong things. They became friends and than started to have feelings for each other, but Thuy didnt share her secrets with him and was scared to be with him because of her past. The chemistry between them was strong and Prophet had feelings for her that he hadn't had for a women for a long time. They tried to be together, but Thuy past caught up with her. She broke it off with him, but was still having feelings for him. This book had secrets, lies, crazy exes and family fights!! Also I cant forget the fashion that was written about in this book!!! I cant wait to dive into book two!!!.
This book is unrealistic and poorly edited. It’s no way Rashad knows where she is every time. Also I hate how all the characters are connected, unrealistic. Her showing up to the airport as a minor with blood on her clothes and actually getting on an airplane, unrealistic. One of the things I do like is the anticipation of information. I appreciate the details and things being revealed over a period of time. I love the incorporation of faith, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. Because of the inconsistency I have skipped around. Some elements/chapters were definitely not need but overall decent. I would like to see what happens in the next book!
Omg this was so much more than what I expected. Not even sure what I expected but this was SO GOOD. It’s emotional, deep, frustrating, sad, filled with love and everything else in between. My heart ached for Reese and Thuy. I was shocked to see her aunts dealings. Everyone is connected m some form really. Thuy’s moment in church just took me over. This book was A1 and I believe truly speaks to what some young girls are really going through in this world today... but God!! I can’t wait for book 2.
Let me start by saying this is a good story. There were some things that were a little off like Prophet being a twenty-seven year old psychiatrist after having served two years. I had to just mentally substitute the word therapist for psychiatrist. There were quite a few errors but not to the point you didn't know what the author was saying. Overall, it's a good read.
The writing follows a scripted urban novel. It is poorly edited and no cohesive with little cohesion. Great themes is faith, sex trafficking, racketeering.
