As Gryff learns more about the Shadowscape and the god-like Archons that rule it, the stakes keep getting higher.
The angel-monster Phi is still hellbent on destroying humanity, so Gryff and his friends must spread out to the far corners of Mistral to make sure she doesn’t succeed.
Once again I find myself entertained by the author's story telling ability. The characters continue to grow and develop as the world building continues with each book. The pacing was good and I enjoyed it immensely.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The time for a showdown with Phi has finally arrived. Can Gryff and the world survive? The story and characters were intriguing and engaging as always. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.
This series has been surprisingly awesome, and even though I've been power reading them the last week or two I'm super excited to be moving on to the next one. So much so I took the time to leave this review
The plot, characters, etc are still good. The sex scenes are more reasonable in length, if not always in realism. They also don't interrupt the plot thus time.
The scope of the story is growing quite quickly, but it's still manageable so far.
Gryff, his lover's and friends have won this round. Phi is captured and Sera is under control. I wonder if they're ever gonna get back to taking classes or they're just gonna keep learning and fighting and learning as they fight
I'm impressed with how the author maintains continuity with so many characters and events. The author manages to not rush and pay attention to little details that if missed would ruin the story for the reader. Bring on Book 9!
Gryph has to be even by now with two Archons. Both want to control him and destroy all of the humans. But he has a plan. Ok, not a solid plan, but a start—-stop Phi from opening a permanent portal and not allow Sera to take over his mind and body. A good read.
Summoner is one of my favourite series, but this book did not keep my interest to finish it in one go. 1/3 of the way through I stopped and read a few other books before coming back to this one. The second half of the book had much better pacing with action, battles and romance balanced nicely as it raced towards the end. Seems like this is the end of a story arc, and the next book starts another. With all the unprotected sex, and no talk of contraceptives I am assuming kids will start happening soon which should be interesting.
Vall presents another installment in his line of New Age fantasy, and quite frankly unlike his other series this one works. The reader is sure that they have a handle on where the plot is headed only to find there is a plot twist that takes the story in another direction entirely. This reader, at least, is waiting with baited breath to find out what happens next, and that imho is what fiction is all about.
This series keeps getting more intriguing. It’s straightforward approach keeps it light, while pointing to the obvious threat to all humanity. It is only a semi-conclusion because it is set up for a very large universe, and some pretty major future endeavors, but closes a satisfying portion now. Keep reading!
This book had a few welcome surprises. The Main character has progressed and coming into his power, but still has a way to go to keep it interesting. His supporting cast are also becoming more powerful and cohesive, so next book should be even better!
Griff is growing in ability and as usual growing more responsibility. More Archon madness ensued. Griff fights to save everyone from the archons revenge and learns more about himself in the process. I enjoy this series as it is an easy but fun read. Keep them coming please.
I really enjoyed all of the revelations from this book and can't wait to see what comes next. Especially now that Gryff is starting to grasp there is more to him than meets the eye. Definitely feel like the permanent gate at njordenfalls and him appearing there is no coincidence.
Gryff and the girls traipse around Mistral trying to get ahead of the new rifts that are popping up everywhere. Phi and Sera are both out to get Gryff. Good continuation of this series.
The way that this is written is on par with any fantasy book I’ve read. Keeps you interested TIL you’ve finished the last word on the last page of the last chapter. I couldn’t ask nor find such an amazing work of fiction in a lifetime.
I am definitely enjoying reading about Gryff and his adventures. I am wondering after the events of this book where the plot is going and when we will learn of his parents.
Great wrap up to the story arc that started with the appearance of Phi, full of action, great characters, amazing world building, and fun. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next books.
Man was this one worth the wait. Gryff’s adventure has taken a dramatic turn and I can’t wait to see were it takes him. Impatiently waiting for the next book
Once again another book down in one sitting I can’t stop once I start reading this series and that you put them out so fast is amazing. Keep writing and I’ll keep reading
