Three years ago rock bottom hit for Celeste when she lost her son and was sentenced to six months in jail. On that day, she vowed to never touch a drop of alcohol again and to eliminate every possible trigger in her life, including men.
With custody of her son back, a job she loves, and a darling little girl, her life is headed in the right direction. But when she moves into a new house and she meets her handsome neighbor, Tyler, the vow she made to stay away from men is tested.
Will Celeste be able to stay away, or will Tyler become the happily ever after she never thought was possible?
K. Williams writes romance and life novels that will take you to another world. She provides the 'Happily Ever After' you deserve.
Who is K. Williams, you ask? She's first and foremost a dreamer. All K's life, her imagination has been her best friend. She's always made up stories in her head. When she was young, it was to put herself to sleep at night. As she got older, it became a way to combat being bored. Finally, her daughter convinced her to write a book, and now the voices in her head are just short of taking completely over!
She lives with her husband of thirty + years and her youngest daughter in Arizona.
I have known K for a few years now, and I hadn't had a chance to read her work. I AM SO GLAD I FINALLY DID!!! Not only is Sober an amazing book, but K did an amazing job writing it!!!
I LOVED everything about Celeste, Kayden, Everly and Tyler! The storying behind Celeste's sobriety was so sad. Add in how she came to raise Everly, my heart broke for all of them. Celeste is one of the strongest women! To overcome her addiction and raise such amazing children, it was so admirable! She is the best mom any kid could ask for. She fought, tooth and nail to keep her family safe. And Kayden, omg he turned out to be the best kid! He was so mature and nurturing. He was so protective of Celeste and Everly, it was so adorable.
When we are introduced to Tyler the first thing I thought was, I really hope he's the guy for them. The instant connection that he and Celeste had was electric! I loved the chemistry between these two. Even more, I love how he just became a part of their family. He was there for them in so many ways throughout this whole book. Even putting them before his own family at one point. To see the pain in his eyes while side by side with Celeste helping her through her issues, it brought tears to my eyes.
The amount of emotion in this book is one of my favorite things. I love a truly emotional book, and I don't mean sad. I mean, I feel every single emotion under the sun. And boy did we in this book. I cried a few times, laughed, was angry, I went through the whole list. K took us on the perfect roller coaster of emotions throughout this book. It also has so many different layers. There wasn't a single predictable thing about this book.
I cannot recommend this book enough!! I can't wait to read more of her work!
“Hi.” Nervously, I raise my trembling hand. “Celeste. Alcoholic.”
Celeste & Tyler... a woman finally hits her lowest moment and now wants to fight back to rebuild and reclaim her life. In doing so she meets 2 important people that basically will continue changing her and her life even more...But is she strong enough to stay sober for her son...or for the neighboring little girl that only wants to be loved.. or for the new neighbor who will challenge her to face even more about herself. Can Celeste stay away from the alcohol or can she fight enough for herself too
I liked this cont romance by K Williams. The reader is able to see the differing feelings of the main characters to fully see all sides of the story. And the author has even a sub suspense story that tastefully deals with some harsh topics.
I don't think I can express how much Ioved this book. Celeste is a truly an amazing and well written character. She is fighting so hard for her life, her children and her sobriety. When life becomes tough she doesn't give into to the want for a drink. Ty slowly comes in and steals your heart. Of course Kayden and Everly do too. This story has lots of emotional issues that will bring tears to your eyes but is so worth the read.
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! This book was so emotional! I enjoyed Celeste and Tyler journey to love! This book tackled a lot of issues and I love how the author handled it! This is my first time reading a book by this author and it won't be my last! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between them! Fantastic Book! Worth reading!
K Williams is a new to me author and I devoured Sober and am looking forward to reading more from this author. Tyler and Celeste, Great people but Celeste is too busy working on herself to want anything with Tyler until it happens when she least expects it. I really like this story because it had a little bit of everything for a reader.
Celeste is a recovering alcoholic, who's finally turned her life around. With a job, two kids, and a new house; Celeste's life couldn't be better. Then she meets her handsome neighbor Tyler. Celeste vowed to stay away from men because of her past, yet Tyler sparks feelings inside making her question whether to break her promise.
The character of Celeste is a tough woman. After everything she's been through in the past, she's learned to shape up. Celeste's pride and joy are her children Kayden and Everly, who she's very protective of. One of the side stories in the book is Celeste's adoption of Everly, who is neglected by her mother Ainsley. With Tyler's help, Celeste is able to gain custody of Everyly and send Ainsley to jail for her crimes.
Throughout the story, there's a few instances where Celeste is stressed and feels the need to drink. The author does a great job of capturing Celeste's battle with the bottle, especially in the scenes with the AA meetings.
As for Tyler, he's an all-around good guy detective, who attracts the attention of all women. But there's only one that he wants.
Tyler takes an immediate liking to Celeste and starts spending time with her and the kids. Tyler has his work cut out for him in trying to convince Celeste to give him a chance, and it doesn't help when there's interference from other people.
The story was great overall, however at times I felt like Celeste and Tyler's relationship got sidetracked by other characters and side stories. Plus, at the end I felt things got a bit rushed with the epilogue. The story was mostly told in Celeste and Tyler's POVs, but then they had Kayden and Everly discussing the events that happen in the end.
It was ok. I struggled with the flow of the story a little. A month's worth of events happens in just a day so it get a little confusing. However, the people were great, the kids were so sweet and there was plenty of drama!
I enjoyed Celeste's journey to become and stay sober. I loved the way she loved her son, and became a mother figure to Everly. Tyler was a great addition in her & the kid's lives too.
Sober is the struggle of a recovering alcoholic and her journey after she hit rock bottom. I found the premise and the storyline intriguing; however, I had a difficult time connecting to the main characters. While their place in the story is explained, they themselves are very one dimensional. With the exception of "the fall of Celeste," there really wasn't much backstory.
I connected most to the children in empathy. Their stories are rough and I liked that they have a "voice" in this book. I would love more in depth looks at the situations from their perspectives. Overall, it's a Sober-ing read...(I know that was corny! 😉)
