Action? ✔ Mystery? ✔ Intrigue? ✔ Spies? ✔ Danger? ✔ Dark Secrets? ✔ Hatred? ✔ Jealousy? ✔ Bitterness? ✔ Overwhelming Resentment between the Irish and the English? ✔✔ Brewing Rebellion against the Duke? ✔✔ Day of Reckoning? ✔✔ Murder? ✔✔ Hostility between the Duke and his brother? ✔✔✔ Delusion of Power? ✔✔✔ Betrayal of The Highest Order? ✔✔✔✔ Kill or be Killed? ✔✔✔✔ This book has everything and more. It is so exciting to read. Imagine running through a tall hedge maze. Hopeful in the beginning to reach the center and return in good time. Only to be met with wrong turns, loss of direction, despair, then fortitude, then fear, then attempts to calm down, bad feelings of not getting out, yearning to stomp, scream and cry out for help, perhaps a tumble or two, desperation to follow other voices in the maze with no success, anger for trying to beat the maze. Then miraculously finding the exit without ever seeing the coup de grace, the marble fountain with the most beautiful statues. But then told it does not exist. Feeling tricked, feeling betrayed. But having learned a life lesson that what we build up in our mind may not be based in reality. This is how I felt reading this book. The author, Emma Linfield, has out done herself. This had me glued to each page as the tension and suspense grew and grew. It felt as if the romance was a side benefit to the story. It was a welcome addition nonetheless. This is an amazing read and I highly recommend it. The only comment I have is the title did not seem to suit the story. Other than that, this is a must read. You will not be disappointed.

Who Do You Trust🔪?

Alicia Price's father, Robert👺, is an Irish subversive, a treasonist dedicated to somehow again seeing to the rise of the Irish against their English landlords. They are called Ribbonmen.

Robert👺 wants to plant Alicia💃💋 into the serving staff as a spy in the manor house at the old castle Ravencliff🏰 where Englishman, Jacob Norton🐺🔪, the new Duke of Woodworth, has just arrived. Jacob🐺🔪 is a former Captain in the Royal British Navy⛵, and he really doesn't want to live at the castle🏰.

Robert👺 gets off to a bad start with Jacob🐺🔪, when Jacob🐺🔪 catches him slapping Alicia💃💋 in the village street because she refuses to do his bidding! Alicia💃💋 is sure the cause of the Ribbonmen will fail, because they are only a handful of men against the power of the English Duke.

Jacob didn't expect his brother, Owen, to be withholding vital information about the earnings of the estate, either, or turning servants against the Duke. What is the purpose of his subterfuge?

Jacob finds himself drawn to Alicia. She is small and fiesty, and she is Irish, not someone his mother would ever invite to a party much less be suitable for his bride. She was raised as a lady before The Irish were conquered.
Jacob's mother insists he marry an English woman. His younger brother, Owen, wants Jacob to go back to England and leave the running of the estate to him! Jacob feels a lot of hate and distrust in the air from the Irish people's under his rule. Is Jacob's life in danger?

**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** The book was ok. It's definitely not one of Emma Linfield's better written stories. The story line was good, lots of action packed adventure and suspense, and very lively and engaging characters. The romance element was a little overshadowed by all the rest of the stuff going on in the story. I thought the book was a little too long, and that there was too much going on in the second half of the story which made it a little bit confusing; like too many sub-story lines within the main plot. At least the book has a sweet happily ever after romantic ending.

A Clean and Sweet Novel with a Very Strange Title

The Remarkable Myth of a Nameless Lady by Emma Linfield is set in early nineteenth century Ireland where a turbulent political history collides with a conflicted family history. The result is an engrossing novel with plenty of intrigue, deception, danger, sadness and love. This character driven plot is well written with varied and interesting characters. Both the hero (Jacob Alexander Thorndyke Norton the Third Duke of Woodworth) and the heroine (Miss Alicia Price) are strong but likable characters. However, their story is fraught with challenges and struggles that will test them both. In the end, they will achieve their happy ever within the pages of both an epilogue and an extended epilogue.

Lastly, although I enjoyed this entertaining read, I have one question. What's up with the title? It makes no sense, and I read the book.

Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.

ONE MIND BLOWING TREAT!!!
Shock and awe baby! You get it all and then some with this impressive bad boy. A multitude of vexing circumstances and unforseen events blast those stormy emotions into play. Hurdling the trials and tribulations trying to get ahead and running out luck. The drama, intrigue, danger and suspense cuts loose with page flipping bombshell that blasts this baby wide open. Emma nailed this bad boy 100% on point with such realism it pulls you so deep your total focus is on every word, riveted on a razors edge. You have one thrilling storyline and explosive plot that keeps spinning with so many twists and turns you're not sure which way is up. The characters are authentic with such depth and qualities that blend smoothly. The scenes are so vividly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Awesome job Emma, thanks for sharing this baby with us.

Jacob , the Duke of Woodworth, had just ridden into town and had seen an older man slap a young girl twice. He tried to defend her but the whole town seemed to object. He was headed toward his new manor and his family. He had been sent away for a good part of his life to school then he joined the Navy.
Alicia Price lived in the village and her father was a real piece of work. He slapped her around and spoke down to her even though she was intelligent. Ever since her twin brother died he seems to take it on her. Her father is a traitor and thinks he is fighting for freedom. She has been told by him that he wants her to go work at the manor and spy on them.
The author wrote a great story. The characters had depth and the tale flows well. It also keeps your attention and reading. She gives you the answer to any questions you might have. This book is well worth reading and I highly recommend it.

Loved the cover, but I couldn't figure out (or even remember) the title of the book; hence only 4 stars (would have liked to give it 4.5 stars if I could). The book was action packed, and I couldn't put it down. Full of adventure, a little subtle humor, romance, family ties and secrets and a sweet romance. The h (Alicia) summed it all up with "Can I still love my father and my country when I am starting to wonder if they might be wrong? Or must I give up both for the sake of doing what's right?" But then a major plot twist changes it all around. Can both sides possibly be right to some extent? A wonderful story! I highly recommend! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.

Rebirth

The intricacies of the plot, the complexity of the characters, the difficulties of the choices they are force to make; all in this story keep the interest of the reader alive from beginning to end. Irish and English had to learn to live together if they wanted to survive; the same way as the main characters. Some made the wrong choices and had to live with the consequences, the guilt or even death. Others surge from the ashes and through forgiveness find happiness. Totally enjoyable reading

This story grabs you in the beginning and doesn't let go until the end. Plot is well thought out, story is well written and characters are fleshed out. Come along on this roller coaster with Jacob and Alicia. Find out what happens when Alicia's father makes her get a job on Jacob's estate.

This is a must-read! Jacob, an English Captain, has now become the Duke to the family estate in Ireland after his father's death. His brother has been helping their father, and running the estate in his absence. Alicia is an Irish woman sent to spy on the new duke by her abusive father. People are not who they seem to be, and spies are everywhere. Jacob and Alicia are on opposing sides, but will they find love anyway? No spoilers, you need to read this! Great job, Emma Linfield!

As always, I finished the book. Unfortunately, this time the book really annoyed/disappointed me.
Given the history of Ireland and the English takeover the premise that a romance between an Irish young woman with no status and funds and English Lord should have been fraught with more soul searching on part of each character.
The reversal of the father's behavior was too quick and unrealistic. Same with mother.
In general too many unbelievable actions/motivation.

Awesome story!!

This story has it all! Suspense, humor, drama, tragedy, romance and love. I couldn’t put it down. I had to find out how it ended without cheating, so I read it to the end. Now I’m sad because I didn’t want it to end!! I don’t like to give any of the story away, so all I can say is, Emma Linfield has done it again!!
