Throne of Dragons

Rate this book
“Has all the ingredients for an instant success: plots, counterplots, mystery, valiant knights, and blossoming relationships replete with broken hearts, deception and betrayal. It will keep you entertained for hours, and will satisfy all ages. Recommended for the permanent library of all fantasy readers.”
--Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re The Sorcerer’s Ring)

“The beginnings of something remarkable are there.”
--San Francisco Book Review (re A Quest of Heroes)

From #1 bestseller Morgan Rice, author of A Quest of Heroes (over 1,300 five star reviews) comes the debut of a startlingly new fantasy series.

THRONE OF DRAGONS (Age of the Sorcerers—Book Two) tells the story of the epic coming of age of one very special 16 year old boy, a blacksmith’s son from a poor family who is offered no chance of proving his fighting skills and breaking into the ranks of the nobles. Yet he holds a power he cannot deny, and a fate he must follow.

It tells the story of a 17 year old princess on the eve of her wedding, destined for greatness—and of her younger sister, rejected by her family and dying of plague.

It tells the tale of their three brothers, three princes who could not be more different from each other—all of them vying for power.

It tells the story of a kingdom on the verge of change, of invasion, the story of the dying dragon race, falling daily from the sky.

It tells the tale of two rival kingdoms, of the rapids dividing them, of a landscape dotted with dormant volcanoes, and of a capital accessible only with the tides. It is a story of love, passion, of hate and sibling rivalry; of rogues and hidden treasure; of monks and secret warriors; of honor and glory, and of betrayal and deception.

It is the story of Dragonfell, a story of honor and valor, of sorcerers, magic, fate and destiny. It is a tale you will not put down until the early hours, one that will transport you to another world and have you fall in in love with characters you will never forget. It appeals to all ages and genders.

Book three (BORN OF DRAGONS) is now available for pre-order.

“A spirited fantasy ….Only the beginning of what promises to be an epic young adult series.”
--Midwest Book Review (re A Quest of Heroes)

“Action-packed …. Rice's writing is solid and the premise intriguing.”

Uniquely adventurous

Wow, I rarely buy, and I do mean rarely, books over $1. Most of the time I have been content to wait till the price drops. But, I bought this one after being engrossed in the first. Now, I'm considering buying the third! This is a YA series, but as other reviews stated, it goes beyond age, and gender. Morgan's brand of storytelling is perfect, somehow making me feel as though I am there, watching these characters unfold, become the hero's they were destined to be. Or the coward is always a coward like Vars. Wish I had more stars to give. Thank you for sharing your friends! Amazing!

If you want drama, romance, politics, action (and tones of it!),magic system, dragons, mystery and multiple POVs that are clearly carefully curated and do gradually interlink in fantastic ways then read this series!!! Ignore BookTok or BookTube, step away from the crowd as truly the recs aren't all that great, do some research for yourself and find great hidden gems like this!!

Again a map would truly make this book and the series chefs kiss 👌 And i feel that the covers are very similar (if not even at times the same dragon image just in a differnt colour) But i understand that that probably is something only really possible with the help of designers and artists ect so i get it as i believe this is an indie author (apologies if im wrong) but ive so much respect for the work put into this series so far and most likely every book after ☺️

Amazing, action packed, added even more depth to the story by sensibly and surprisingly ending some characters stories to give way for others!
I wish this series took off on social media like other series as i truly believe its better than plenty out there which get so much hype 🤷

I've ordered another four of the books as i actually look forward to picking each one up! That's how i know it's a 5* but also just that each and every POV is so well written (with the exception of a few oddly chosen sentences) all in all the imagery, the stories, this is simply a fantastic series!

What a cliffhanger! WHOA! Book 3 here I come! This is a person that only on VERY, VERY rare occasions purchases books online. Hardcopy books are one thing but online is difficult to sway me when many are free, I have a library available still, and if I buy I'd rather have it in my hand. HOWEVER, this audio and this author have me completely hooked. I am not into fantasy but Morgan Rice has changed my perspective on that realm of possibility with each book I read. I must know the result.... 🤞🤞 (On a side note- interesting family dynamic! Geez!)

A really exciting story!

Oh I really enjoyed this book! It was full of action, and excitement and thrilling moments. Plus the dark side of it was all part of the complexity that is Throne of Dragons. I don't think you will be disappointed if you get this book! Now, I'm off to get book 3!

The second installment of this story didn’t disappoint. Keeping track of all the characters might not be easy but ends up being worth it. Of course, by the time you finish this book, you will be invested in the fates of the remaining characters, so be prepared to buy the next one.

Just when I thought I knew the way it was going, surprise!

Plots, romance, betrayal, wars, magic ,and more. The author has so many threads going at the same time I had a problem keeping the many various characters straight. Or it may just be me

In Throne of Dragons (Age of the Sorcerers—Book Two), author Morgan Rice continues the epic tale of the royals of Royalsport as they face a coming war amid personal tragedies. The cast of characters outside the royals add depth to the story that immerse you in a fantasy realm with knights, dragons, monks, sorcerers and a ruthless enemies who bring to light an unfolding understanding of magical powers and the history of two kingdoms that were once one.

Morgan has done a masterful job of making me care about his characters and take sides. Whether you love them or hate them, each character does their part to move the story along and carry you deeper into the plot of a captivating world where good and evil fight for control. It’s one of those “just one more chapter” books that’s hard to put down. The only thing I don’t like about it, is that the story leaves you hanging and hungry to know what happens next. (And so I’m already reading book 3).

If you’re a fantasy enthusiast and looking for a quick read, I recommend this one.

So MUCH TRAGEDY in this one, my god!!
- Rodry really reminds me of Rob Stark lol and his death was just so ugh gut wrenching. Was kind of expecting a twist where he survives but with the way the scene was set up, knew it wasn’t happening
- King Godwin’s death was premature I think. I was half expecting one of his own children (Vars or even Nerra after she transformed) to kill him.
- Vars being king???????? ((Why….))
- I can’t wait for Lenore to reach her fierce Sansa Stark phase and start being more assertive and standing up for herself

I am HOOKED on this series and can’t wait to CONSUME the next book! So good

I finished *Throne of Dragons*, and wow, what a ride! It follows a blacksmith’s son who finds out he has magical powers just as he's trying to make his way in life. There’s also a princess on the brink of marriage and her sick sister, adding a layer of tension.

The dynamics among the three rival princes kept me on my toes. The world is richly described, making it easy to get lost in the story. I enjoyed how the themes of love, honor, and betrayal played out—definitely kept me turning pages late into the night. If you're looking for an adventure that pulls you in and holds your attention, this one’s worth checking out!

I was given an ARC of this book and I found it enjoyable. I do like this author's sword and sorcery stories because they have multiple characters, that sense of magic and enough action to set the pace afire.

It was rather short, however, it did move on the story, building plot and characters. There is plenty of mystery, and definitely a war between heroes and villains.

Fast-paced with enough tension and thoughts and feelings to make it feel real, despite its fantastical nature.

Recommended to those who enjoy a tale of magic and mayhem.

King Goodwin goes to rescue her and In the battle he is stabbed and in a coma. Devon finishes the sword to give to Lenore, but finnal takes it. She is destined to an unhappy marriage. Devon has fallen in love with Lenore. There is so much still to come.

After reading the teaser, I have to agree with the description. Morgan Rice has a way with her world-building to completely engage the reader and I could literally see their story play out in my mind like I was there. There's so much drama, angst, betrayal, and adventure. Let's not forget there's a romance building in there as well but will it be allowed to flourish? It definitely captured my imagination and I can't wait for the next book to see where Morgan Rice takes.

Enthralling! Keeps me reading this brilliant, amazing writing!

Thank you, Morgan Rice, for providing me with some of the very best fantasy storytelling ever! I can't put this Dragons and Magic series down. Your characters, plots, and settings are amazing. They weave together so intriguingly, coming alive in my imagination. I'm eagerly off to the next of your books in this fascinating series. Dave Reed

Well, I said I'd give Rice the benefit of the doubt and read volume 2, although I was quite underwhelmed with the first book. I did, and it's no better. A handful of original, engaging scenes are simply not enough to carry the weight of the novel.
And I do hate endings that resolve nothing and serve quite blatantly as push to buy the next installment. Won't be happening.

Book 2

Book 2 was a fun read and had a few errors throughout. The overall plot is intriguing and the characters have grown well over both books. The characters are somewhat naive in areas for being mostly grown. I look forward to book 3.

Enjoyable sequel to his first book, Realm of Dragons. The nice thing about Morgan Rice's books is that he picks up exactly where the first book ended, keeping the reader in the loop all the way around. Enjoyable series.

absolutely loved the second instalment! I appreciate the author's ability to leave both books on such intense cliffhangers, while also making them feel like you've got enough satisfaction from the book in it's entirety. Cannot wait to finish the third.

Great concept, enough drama to keep me interested. It is so good to hear about flawed characters and an honest way. Will continue on with the series. My fantasy, love dragons, only negative as I haven’t really heard much about actual dragons, yet!

Disappointing compared to the first book. Made it clear this will be a "keep buying my books" series. There was very little that actually got accomplished in this book, just incremental progress on each of the many story lines.

This book did not do what I expected it to do. I did not like the king. I don't know what was going on with the brother and the princess was depressed. I really wanted to like this book. The narration did not help me like it more.
