Being New York royalty has its perks. It also has its major pitfalls. One of those is that my wealthy father wants me to marry someone just like him. So when Trevor tells me I can't go to the upscale, elite Halloween party being thrown by one of the New York Elite, I know I have to go. What I don't expect is for my revenge plan to go off the rails when I meet the one girl with the power to make me bend my knee. But I have a dark secret that would shatter the fragile trust that Ashley and I have built, and a stepfather who's hellbent on destroying me.

Glass Ceilings is intended for mature audiences and contains situations that may be inappropriate for readers under 18. The story is steamy and scandalous, but has a guaranteed happily ever after. If you like your fairy tales twisted, this is the book for you!

Breaking that Glass Ceiling

Glass Ceilings takes the classic Cinderella story that all little girls grew up hearing and flips it on its head. Yep you have the outline of the classic story but Ashley (Cinderella) is the rich princess and Eli (Prince Charming) is the poor and abused one. The supporting characters play a good role in the story as when Ashley and Eli meet they discover they have a number of things in common and bond over them. But as all things in fairytale land they are parted quickly and the hunt is on by Ashley to find the the captivating handsome man who lost his shoe, well really it is his boot.

This story is fun and fluffy with a number of modern aspects incorporated into the story and a few unexpected twists. My only issue is that it could use some work to tighten it up in places and shed some of the length of the overall book. Additionally there were some proofreading issues, which drive me crazy when reading. However, I did enjoy reading this take on the classic fairytale as it is good to see the female character in the stronger position. I look forward to reading the next books in the Fairly Twisted Tales series by Lux Miller.

I love the Cinderella aspect being a male, totally changes the whole fairytale and gives to new life to a story told multiple ways. There is a few times in the beginning where I had to go back and reread because I felt like I wasn't on the same page but after that this story becomes a fast paced romance with a HEA.
Eli has secrets that his wicked stepfather keeps over his head and Ashley's father wants her to marry for money. Whats social standing when all you want is to live and be loved.

Eli and Ashlyn FTW!

This is a retelling of the classic fairytale ‘Cinderella’ with a modern twist! Instead of a female ‘Cinderella’ we have the handsome, brooding Eli - a male gardener who is working for a modern-day King. Pierce Rogers has made his billions by selling automatic flushing toilets. Eli has been crushing on Pierce’s daughter ‘Potty Princess’ Ashlyn for years. Due to their difference in social status Eli considers Ashlyn to be completely unattainable, and only admires her from afar.

Until…Pierce Rogers decides to hold a Halloween Ball. The purpose of the ball is to have a bunch of eligible bachelors attend and hopefully one of them will catch his rebellious daughter’s eye and she’ll finally settle down and get married. Eli decides to attend the ball with the hope of catching Ashlyn’s eye.

Eli’s evil stepfather and stepsisters try to sabotage his plans in a brutal and very cruel way. Luckily, the appearance of a modern-day Fairy Godfather (an actual Capo) comes to his aid and provides Eli with a swanky suit, a stylish mask, and Italian leather boots so he can attend the ball.

As soon as Eli and Ashlyn come face-to-face (despite the masks they’re both wearing) sparks fly. There’s an immediate connection and attraction between them. A mere touch sends tingles down their spines. Ashlyn is no ‘blushing virgin’ and knows what she wants. She decides to have a one-night stand with Mr. Mysterious. Mind-blowing sex ensues. But is it really just sex? After Eli is forced to flee at midnight and leaves a boot behind…Ashlyn decides to track Mr. Mysterious down to determine her true feelings about him.

Eli and Ashlyn start a tentative relationship together. But Eli’s scandalous past comes back to haunt him. Will Ashlyn give Eli a second chance? What will Eli have to do to win Ashlyn’s heart? Or will Eli’s stepfather and stepsisters have the last evil laugh? You’ll have to read to find out!

The plot idea for this steamy, reverse Cinderella story is great, but the book itself in this moment in time has a long way to go before it too can be considered great, because there are simply too many inconsistent/contradictory descriptions and implausible events to ignore. In reality, if everything were written in the 3rd person without any inner thoughts or explanations from Eli and Ashley that would fix a lot of the problems with the contradictions at least. However, the implausibility issues remain: just one such example is why would a 22 year old manwhore with a tidy nest egg set aside ever consider living at home with a stepfather and stepsisters that he abhors? Then there is the idea that a 19 year old could have, within 3 years, both created award winning roses and then used them to build the aforementioned nest egg when it normally takes teams of botanists several years just to create a new variety worth introducing... the list would go on and on but I’m stopping there.

Jftr, kudos to Trevor for defending his daughter’s right to sleep around from Eli’s hypocritical accusations.

Also, I loved the fairy mafia godfather. This book has a lot of potential to be terrific.

This is most definitely not the Cinderella story my mother read to me as a child. This is a sexy twisted version, and I love it! Ashley is the Potty Princess. Daddy wants her married to someone in the appropriate social station, but she'll have none of that. She hooks up with a masked man at the Halloween ball, but he disappears just before midnight, leaving one boot behind. It doesn't take her long to find Eli, the gardener's stepson. They embark on a raucous affair, and before long, they both have much different feelings, not just the desire for incredible sex. Unfortunately, Eli has a big secret, and someone's threatening to reveal it. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning, and I would have read it in one setting if not for work and sleep.

I love a modern take on fairytales. This has a mix of hot romance, YA, mafia romance so if you enjoy all these, this one's for you.
My favourite things about it was the romance scenes, the feistiness of the heroine and the no nonsense godfather.

I have to take points off as this was just not my cup of tea. I was let down by the weak villains and the problems the hero has, I was put off by that subplot.
The fairy godfather is a great character and a fun take on the classic, however the way he shows up and helps the lovers is something that bothered me.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Ashley and Eli. She is New York royalty he's just the gardeners stepson. Her dad wants her to marry and continues to set her up with meeting possible suitors, she dabbles but none hold her interest. Eli is forbidden to go to the latest ball, not just because he's below that, but because his stepfather is a jerk. With the help of his fairy godfather, Eli manages to snag Ashley's attention. But there spark between them isn't just physical. They indulge in each other's company but Eli's stepsister causes problems. Great HEA.

A reverse Cinderella story with the hero being the destitute one with a 'fairy' godfather and the heroine being the 'princess' - an heiress to a fortune. He gets one night with her where he forgets his boot as he's running out to meet his midnight deadline. He believes that's all he'll get seeing as he's the gardener but fate has different plans for them.
A fun read taking a well-liked fairytale and modernizing it with nice twists!

Finding their way...

Awesome story of Eli and his humble beginnings and Ashley and her silver spoon lifestyle. They conquered the obstacles thrown in their paths from his evil step-dad and sister...who I’m glad reaped a fitting punishment for abusing and blackmailing Eli. Wonder how ol’ Trevor is making out!! And let’s not forget about her controlling dad...smh. Two snaps in a circle for Uncle G for handling business and reuniting these two love birds. Fairy godfather indeed!! This story shows it doesn’t matter where you start. What matters is how far you want to go...

I liked the meaning behind glass ceiling and not glass houses. Slightly different twist. Youthful indiscretions usually come around to bite us in the end. Being able to recognize that the past is the past and being able to move on. It feels like there is more to this story and I hope the author keeps writing it.

Okay I loved this! This was for sure the 2019, raunchy yummy version of Cinderella. It covers that there are youthful mistakes that are made and the correction that comes later. It also displays that Ashley did not want to marry for the status her father wanted for her and met her own "masked man" who ended up being Eli the gardeners son. They have a whirlwind affair that is hot and delicious and there is so much more but I don't want to spoil anything. READ the book!

her life is great except her father wants her to marry but the one he has in mind she sees the bad in him. a masked ball is arranged and he is good he cannot go he wants to go even more. They meet but his stepfather may have a say. What secrets does he have? Will they get together? See if there is a happy ending

This is the story of Ashley and Eli; both have father’s or a stepfather they don’t really like. They weren’t supposed to meet but they do and they immediately like each other much to the disapproval of both fathers! It’s an easy fun read and I’m looking forward to the next book.

This is a twist on Cinderella with the most unlikely characters of Eli, as Prince Charming and Ashley as “Princess” Cinderella. These two re-establish the boundaries of the have and have nots. It was definitely insta-lust in the beginning, but so many obstacles to overcome if they want their HEA. Good read!

I enjoyed reading this book ,it’s a good adult fairy tale .
Ashley and Eli’s story with good twist on the Cinderella story . Here Cinderella is He ,lost his shoes.
Wicked stepsister and not much better stepfather.
It’s quite entertaining book.
