According to Dr. Timothy Brantley, most health problems are not caused by genetics or germs but by the standard American diet. Drawing on Brantley's groundbreaking research and his years of working with nutritional healing, The Cure contains a revolutionary step-by-step program that can flush toxins out of the body, restore balance, promote natural healing, and increase vitality.
This is one of those books that makes me question some of my own deeply held beliefs about nutrition and health. And my question is, if this guy believes the same thing, am I wrong?
There's a core of good advice in here, about drinking lots of water and eating a good healthy diet of naturally nutritious real food. It's surrounded by a lot of personal stories and anecdotes to make it interesting and convincing. There's also some "why not buy my supplements?" but I didn't find that as off-putting as some other reviewers did. There's no actual science.
There's also some stuff that just makes me want to throw it in the trash. Drink purified water because you shouldn't trust your tap water? Throw out your microwave so you don't cook your insides? And the overall message that modern medicine is useless and evil... How to respond to this? Okay, my own personal story: my mother died of cancer, which was certainly caused by radiation treatments for acne in the 1940s, before they figured out the consequences and stopped doing those treatments. Medicine bad. On the other hand, if she had that same kind of cancer today instead of in the 1950s, she wouldn't have died, because Western medicine can now cure what she had. Medicine good. Want to base an entire philosophy of science on that anecdote? I don't.
WAYYYY to much information about colons. I think he starts with a basic assumption that may be false and reiterates it frequently regarding the change in food and diet over the past 100 years. I think there are some grains of information in this book, but getting through his biases and street talk leaves A LOT to be desired! I also think it is interesting that we "should not buy vitamins and supplements because they are products of a lab", but then the back half of the book is dedicated to the products you can buy at his website... produced in a lab?
I have read a lot of health books but The Cure by Dr. Timothy Brantley is my favorite. I find it educational, relevant, and mostly motivational. Dr. Brantley tells you how to reverse, heal and prevent disease. I am getting my family on his protocols and we have been taking his herbal formulas for years now. When it comes to health, Dr. Brantley is my John Lennon!!!
Life CHANGING! This book literally saved my life. After being misdiagnosed with Crohn's disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and several other diseases, I decided to fire all of my doctors and follow Dr. Brantley's life changing advice. The first detox made me violently ill (as expected) and the changes in lifestyle and diet were difficult, but I am so happy that I pushed through it. Before reading The Cure I thought I was a "healthy eater," but boy was I wrong. After altering my life and following The Cure, I can say that I have never felt better. All of my symptoms are gone. Within the last year I have cheated a little and have eaten certain foods in moderation, but for the most part I have changed my life and thus made it much better. I wish everyone could understand that what we eat and drink affects every single cell in our body.
Read it based on a friend's recommendation. I enjoyed most of it - interesting and exciting - but honestly I had a really hard time stomaching everything he advocates. It felt a bit like an infomercial. He says healing comes from the creation - we are the cause and the cure - but then he says you have to get all these special herbal mixtures from him. What's the difference between his special herb mix and that done in a lab by guys in white coats? I agree that "Creation" is the cure and we have to take ownership, but for me that won't include a colonic board or endless mixtures of special herbs.
This book was a really fast read for me. The stories are so interesting. And it is true that what we eat does affect our health and can make us very ill. I didn't read the book to cure any disease. I read it to learn more about eating healthy.
Some very good points that I got from it is the following: drink water with lemon as soon as you wake up and wait 20 minutes, and also before meals. Do not drink before meals.
There was a lot more great tips which I will detail more in a blog post.
At the end of the book the author explains his products that he created, but I am not interested in those. I have my own great supplements.
At the suggestion of a friend, I bought the book to find out if there are things I should be doing differently in my eating habits/diet. I learned some very valuable information on water, which I share with everyone I know. Not so sure I buy all his other theories, or if I could actually eat this way for a life time, but I would highly recommend this book for anyone facing a serious illness. Not that it really is the cure, but perhaps? Much of what he suggests makes sense, but some is very radical.
I remember I read this book many years ago when I lived in Vegas...I just remember feeling like the information in there was life changing...and that was before I ever tried going gluten free and seeing how much different I felt just from that one change...of course, it didn't stick but I definitely did feel so much better during that time...and I would say I do it at least once a year for a few months...but i think it might be time to read this book again now that I am older and less healthy. There are so many things I could change in my favor now that I wasn't ready for back then.
I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand I completely agree with the author that we eat WAY too much sugar, bread and general junk that is messing up our health in ways we don´t realize. I don´t think however that a person with stage 4 cancer should pick up this book and think that this is going to cure them. I do like his ideas and am willing to implement some of them in my own diet, but Im looking to better inform myself on nutrition in general and don´t want to stop here
I beleive that a lot of our health problems are a result of our diet, but Timothy Brantley takes it to the extreme. Sure we need to eat less processed foods and more whole foods but I don't know about eating totally raw. This book seemed to be a big advertisement for buying his supplements and stuff. It did make me take a better look at the type of foods I was eating, and I have tried to eat less processed foods.
I appreciate this approach to managing your health by taking control of your diet. Although the advice seems rather strict, it is true. It is unbelievable how much better you can feel by following the advice offered in this book and staying properly hydrated!
What are you putting in your body? This book gives an almost Biblical perspective on eating right, and taking good care of yourself. The number one thing I took away from this book was, God created compared to man-made is no competion. Everything that God has made is good. Genesis 1:12
This is one of the best books I've ever read. It makes me think twice about the things that I'm eating and how I can help prevent illnesses in the future. It's FANTASTIC!!!!
Awesome book. Book taught me more about food than anyone in my life. I need to re-read and get focused again. I have never felt so good in my life, eating the way he describes.
This book gives a good guide to eating for health and tells about detox. The detox instructions are not detailed & he offers his own products, but other than that, this book is great.
The phrase "you are the cause and the cure" allows people to choose empowerment in a culture that fosters helplessness. The specific client stories are amazing.
This is an excellent book. I read half of it in the first sitting. It is funny, educational and very interesting. Everyone should read this book, sick or well. Good health advice!
