A dragon shifter series set in the same world as the Bride Hunt books
Take one female in heat and a testosterone-filled dragon. Then cage them together. What do you get? A raging need and a ton of frustration.
When Earth Prince, Sand, is captured by a fearsome enemy and thrown into a cage with a human female about to go into her heat, he knows he’s in deep trouble. The next few days are going to be agony.
What does the enemy want? Whelps. Should they succeed, the children will be snatched away from them to an unknown future. Sand can’t let that happen. He can’t! He’ll fight this burning need with all he has.
Macy is terrified when she’s thrown into a cage with a dragon shifter. Especially when he looks at her like that. His golden eyes are filled with…desire. Lust like she’s never seen before ‒ and it’s all directed at her. It’s daunting. She has to keep reminding herself that he’s a nice guy. That this isn’t his fault. Sand is governed by his physical instincts. Impulses he’s having to fight hard. Her respect for him grows with each passing day. As they get to know each other, their interest in one another grows as well. Not a good thing when your captors want you pregnant so that they can steal your children. Not a good thing at all!
Contains hot alpha males and therefore strong sexual themes/language.

Charlene lives on an acre in the country with her husband, three children and an array of pets including a snake. In her spare time you can usually find her typing away franticly on the computer completely lost in worlds of her making. She is an avid believer that it is the small things that truly matter like the feeling you get when you start reading a new book or a particularly beautiful sunset. I like this series. Really I truly do. This one however did not check off many boxes for me.
The relationship felt forced. Never felt a true connection between the MC and FMC. Without that connection even the sex scenes lacked for me. It felt like a high school romp that lead to an unwanted relationship.
Slave Dragon is the fourth book in the Earth Dragons series, which follows The Bride Hunt series. The story revolves around dragons who meet the one and their lives are changed forever. But there are dramas along the way. That's when the fun begins.
While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer. The characters must fight to stay alive, but what they discover is even more significant than they ever imagined.
I love the strong, sexy alpha males in protective roles!
Being put in jail with someone that only wants you because you are in heat will put any woman in a bad mood. To be told that you are being held in prison with a hot, sex-driven, alpha dragon just so that he can impregnate you and then you have to give those whelps up to a crazy feral she-dragon. Well, that just might put you over the edge.
That is what has happened to Macy and Sand. Macy and Sand are together for the foreseeable future so that they can make whelps for a deranged lunatic. Hoping Sand can save them, Macy puts her faith in him to find a way out of their prison.
Sand knows they will have to play along until he can get them out or until someone finds them. If that means he has to have sex with someone as beautiful and caring as Macy so be it. But that doesn't mean that they are in a relationship, right?
I adored this story between Macy and Sand. They had great chemistry and talked about their lives, relationship, and feelings. The sex was hot and over the top, but didn't take over the story. I can't wait to see where we go next.
Macy along with Sand and another male dragon go to Georgia’s place to pack some things for her, when they are ambushed unexpectedly. When Macy awakens along with Sand they have no idea where they are or who took them. This leads to an unusual request when they discover the who and eventually also the why❣️
A very different story but still steamy and enjoyable, even if the couple Macy and Sand were under duress. I loved the ending and I’m looking forward to more in this series and Stone’s story next😁
If you are following the series you will want to read this one too. A lot of sexual content. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. Secondary characters from previous books and breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series, including the introduction of a new element to the series. HEA.
We’re well into the series about the dragons who don’t have enough females to go around. This time it’s Sand, one of the Earth dragon princes, who is the main dragon in the story. Unlike the first stories, there is no bride hunt and Sand wouldn’t be taking part if there was. No way, José. There’s no way that Sand is going to settle down. He’s just not ready yet for the whole domestic scene. Not like his brothers. In fact it’s because of his twin brother, Shale, that he finds himself watching a very enticing bottom wiggling away in front of him in front of a bedroom chest-of-drawers. It belongs to Macy, his sister-in-law’s best friend. She’s helping out by packing up her friend’s clothes and Sand is supposed to be helping. It comes as a surprise, to both him and Macy, when they find themselves waking up together in a bedroom, but not the one they started out in. It’s not an ordinary bedroom but one that is built around a silver infused metal cage. It isn’t long before they get a visitor who turns out to be a Feral female. Sand might be a tough dragon shifter but he soon finds out that he is weak next to the Feral. And this is where the other side of the Shifter problem is exposed. All shifter species have an imbalance of males to females. But it’s not just the numbers that are a problem; it’s true that there are few shifter females but the saddest thing is that so many of those few are infertile. This story revolves around a Feral female who has broken from the knowledge that she will never have young. In desperation she kidnaps Sand and Macy to make them copulate in order for Macy to bear a child for her. She doesn’t care that it will not be a Feral, she just wants her own baby to hold and to love. Until now we haven’t seen the Shifter’s problem other than from the male perspective but there are always two sides to a tale and I have to say that I had to feel sorry for the Feral and for all the other infertile shifter females. I’m sure that this story will strike a chord in many of us who have seen the pain and heartache that infertile women go through. The lengths that couples go through to experience parenthood are well known. Even with all the fertility treatments there are still no guarantees and many turn to adoption to make their families whole. Unfortunately, Sand and Macy are not in a position where they can even look at the situation from an outside point of view. They are just two strangers who find themselves in an untenable situation and they just want out. But we don’t always get what we want do we?
Warning: mature sexual content, mature themes, and language.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is book four of six in The Earth Dragons series. (Set in the same world The Chosen Series)
Take one female in heat and a testosterone-filled dragon, then cage them together, and what else did you think you would get but a raging need and a ton of frustration. Her respect for him grows with each passing day, and as they get to know each other, their interest in one another grows as well, which is not a good thing when your captors want you pregnant so that they can steal your children. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.
This was my first book from this author and my second time being introduced to the feral shifter book realm. Let me tell you I ain’t this sh*t up with ease lol. Off the bat the heroines mother is trash. How do you sit here and body shame your daughter. Let alone her picture on the book cover is deceiving lol, so what is her mom even baffling about. “The men who are interested in you might have some baggage.” Yeah there’s no redeeming the stuff she say at all. I loved the way Macy and Sand was having to face the complications of being forced in a close & forced approximation trope. Where you can see the struggle between going against what they don’t want and fighting the temptation of each other. Sand slowly becoming unaware of how Macy is effecting him, with how he almost completed the mating with biting her. To then see how disappointed both of them were when she wasn’t pregnant. I loved this book! Can’t wait to check out the others.
A really interesting read Sand and Macy are kidnapped and expected to reproduce even though they are not in a relationship, their kidnapper is an even more secretive species than the dragons they are known as the feral. These are Griffin shifters they are fierce and strong, stronger even than the dragons and yet another species that are struggling to reproduce and have infertile females. The story is quite intense but interesting and of course Macy and Sand end up falling for each other but there is also sadness involved when dealing with infertility. A genuinely good read.
The story was sometimes slightly slow... But it was an exciting story... I was slightly disappointed that the preview for Feral Dragon was actually the preview for Slave Dragon... Not really effective as a marketing tool... Back to Slave Dragon... There really is no slave Dragon in the story... He is more of a captive dragon... I actually liked the story best when Sand returned to his twin on to the finish but part of the Cage story got very boring... I don't know... I still liked the unique story but it wasn't as gripping and fast paced as many of Charlene Hartnady stories are.
I liked the introduction of another shifter species... But the sudden end of Sand and Macey's story in the second to last chapter was a record scratch. No passing of the story from them to the next characters by interaction. One chapter we've got Sand and Macey, then boom. It's Stone in a meeting. What editor thought that was a good idea? This would have been four stars, but that final chapter felt way out of place, and yanked me out of the original story.
Wow!!! This series just keeps getting better and better!!!love the characters and the story line that connects the dragons together that we get to see into their world. The author draws you in . I felt connected and part of the story. Very steamy scenes. Great world building g. A page turner. Fabulous you get to see friendships that last a lifetime and connect all the characters together!!!! !looking forward to the next in the series book 5 we get to see more of the feral species!!!!
I enjoyed this book, although the subject matter was not to my liking. I tried just to go with it & enjoy the developing relationship. The main characters are interesting & charismatic. The relationship was good. Just the situation & villain sucked. The next book is supposed to be based on this new species. J don't know if I even want to read it. I mean, I will, but I'm not happy about it. I hope its so good I change my mind.
What to say, this was a well written book, but it was very slow lots of unnecessary words. It followed the much ado about nothing premises. I've liked the series enough that I'm going to read on, and I'm hoping for a little action.
Each story gets better and better and I lose sleep because I can't put it down now I'm moving on to the next installment and read a little bit and realized I'm in for it no skeep
Oh wow! This plot kept me so riveted with lots of suspense, lost of breath and so many more emotions one can conjure up. Every delicious piece of this storyline was just perfec😍🔥
Slave Dragon, book 4 of Charlene Hartnady's Earth Dragons series is so intense yet fun to read. Sand and Macy are wonderful characters. We finally get a better insight into the Feral. Boy they are scary.
Charlene Hartnady has taken plot twists to a new level. This went in a direction that took me by surprise and kept me involved in the story through the climax. No spoilers, just enjoy.
The whole story was pretty much hot and steamy with a little bit of story. The story part was pretty good. It felt like the Author mostly wanted to write hot and steamy scenes.
Sand and Macy are kidnapped by a feral and locked in a cell. She wants them to have a baby for her. She promised that Macy would be compensated at. This gets more complicated when she brings in a doctor. She gave them something to fake’s pregnanc. This is a light hearted read.
Again another really enjoyable book. Although she went about it in the wrong way I felt really sorry for the Feral woman cos all she wanted was a child.
I was very disappointed in this book I could barely get through the book. I liked the characters but the plot was tiring and disturbing I think it's the end of the earth Dragon series for me
