Jacqueline Harvey has combined a successful career in education with her love of a good story. She is the author of many novels for younger readers and a picture book, THE SOUND OF THE SEA, which was awarded Honour Book in the 2006 Australian Children’s Book Council Awards.

Jacqueline taught in Infants and Primary schools and was Deputy Head of Abbotsleigh Junior School (an independent day and boarding school for girls) in Sydney Australia for seven and a half years before taking up the position of Director of Development at Abbotsleigh in 2010. In October 2012 she resigned to become a full time writer and speaker.

Jacqueline’s bestselling Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose series’ centre on the adventures of two young girls.

Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones is a perpetually positive and determined seven year old who takes herself off to boarding school because it appeals to her sense of adventure.

Clementine Rose is a sweet little girl, who brings much joy to her family and the friends she makes along the way in her journeys through the first five books of the series. A star of the show is Clementine Rose’s pet, an adorable teacup pig called Lavender.

Her newest series is called Kensy and Max about twins who learn that their grandmother is head of the world's most important spy organisation, Pharos.

I honestly didn't remember a lot about this series when I started reading this book a couple of weeks ago. - I had read the book at the beginning of last year, so the details had escaped my mind - I remembered loving it, and I remembered the main characters, but that was it...until I read the first page. Everything came flooding back to me! Action! Adventure! Suspense! This book did not disappoint! It was just as thrilling as the ones before it! I can't wait to read the sixth book! If you love espionage and spy-related books, then this series is for you!

Summary--- Kensy and Max are having a blast with their friend, Curtis, at Alexandria. When their granny suddenly has them packing for a trip to New York that's supposed to be leisurely, the twins and Curtis have a hunch that there's more to this 'vacation' than granny's letting on. With another criminal on the loose, who can they trust?

Each one of these is better than the last. As a kid, it would be great fun to read these books with all the spying, gadgets, and adventure.

I am constantly disappointed with the parents. They're barely involved in the life of their kids despite being away from them for so long. Their careers are treated as more important than their family, and the kids are more tightly bonded to Song and Fritz. I hate how that's treated as normal and fine.

Other than that, great fun!

Great continuation of this great series. The characters are so much fun , the story creative and interesting but still appropriate for kiddos ! We are enjoying this series as a read aloud with my 12 and 14 year old kiddos. They especially enjoy decoding the chapter titles as we go along.

Good to see Curtis, and finally finishing main conflicts from previous books. Felt like there was a lot of additional plots taht didn't need to be there like Song.

Kenzy and Max are twins and they are spies. They went to New York because their Grandma was winning an award. They think it is going to be a fun vacation, but then they find out that Dash Chalmers is in New York. He’s a bad guy! He gets one of his associates to kidnap Kenzy and Max. Now they have to capture Dash, but they need help! Kenzy and Max bring in Curtis Pepper who has a special backpack with everything you could possibly need it in to solve the case.

The climax of the story is when Kenzy and Max’s Grandma gets kidnapped by Dash, and he holds her hostage. Dash tells Grandma he has to give him his children back (she took them away in a previous book because he was using them for his evil plans).

This whole time, Uncle Rupert and the butler, Song, are being weird. Every time there is danger, Song is nowhere to be found. Uncle Rupert isn’t telling Kenzy and Max important information. Now they don’t know who they can trust.

In the end, Grandma poisons Dash, and he dies. They find out that Song actually has a girlfriend, and that’s why he was disappearing. Uncle Rupert wasn’t telling them all the facts because Grandma Cordelia wanted him to protect the kids and keep them out of danger.

Overall, I really loved this book! There was lots of action and it kept me wanting to turn the page! My favorite part was when Cordelia said Song was astrophobic (I don’t really know what that means, but I will look it up!) Song almost scared Cordelia to death during a storm when he was hiding in the laundry basket. I’m still laughing as I write this. Hilarious! Mom says “maybe you just had to be there to think it’s soooo funny!” I guess maybe you will have to read it too so you will love the book as much as I did. I added to mom’s stack of books to read.
