Pain

This is my first book by this author and I am glad that I read it. The writing was clear, concise, and relatively error free. The characters were well developed, particularly Pain (Hero). Both H/h had personality, emotion, chemistry, passion, determination, chemistry, passion, and heart. Melody drew the reader in from the onset and kept their attention throughout with various twists, drama, passionate segments, and action.
Pain had a history of being used for experimentation by a group called DMI. It left him highly traumatized and feeling guilty for the death of his son and the mother of his child (though she was not his mate). Even though he was no longer at the test facility, the flashbacks and memories continued to haunt him. Adding to his issues was his attraction to Julia. He did not feel worthy of taking a mate, and he knew he could not handle the loss of anyone else close to him.
Julia shared the chemistry for Pain that he felt for her. She also felt pain when he would reject her, even though she was aware of the trauma that he experienced. When he came to her one night and fulfilled her wildest fantasy, only to leave hurriedly and silently, with a horrified and guilt stricked look on his face, she was heartbroken. She tried to ignore him, and when they ran into each other accidentally, he yelled at her. A friend of his took him to task for it, but that did not help Julia. When she talked to Holly, Pain's psychologist, she told her, as a friend only, that he needed time but not to give up on him.
There was another encounter between Julia and Pain when she left her window cracked. He wanted to keep her safe, and possess her at the same time. But when she was abducted, Pain realized that failing to accept and admit his feelings was costing him more than acknowledging them and losing them. But would he ever get the chance to tell her how he truly felt or had he missed his chance?

Melody Adams has once again knocked it out of the park!
Julia came to Edan to be able to be the first to study the new plant and animal life on a never before explored. While there she made friends with the women and with the Alien Breeds including the female Breeds, but there was one Alien Breed that had grabbed her attention and she couldn't shake loose from it. Pain with his background of being tortured, having lost a son while in captivity with DMI. But she couldn't fight how she felt no matter how hard she tried. Then one night Pain showed up on her doorstep and both of their worlds got rocked. But Pain left with barely a word only stating that it shouldn't have happened, that made Julia feel nothing but rejection, and the two did everything they could to avoid one another afterwards.
Pain had been tortured, lost his "mate" in childbirth, and had his son murdered in front of him because he refused to impregnate another Breed female and give DMI an additional hold over him. He was experimented on without the use of medications to make him numb to the pain, up until the day that DMI murdered his son he did everything they asked of him. Then one day he snapped but it was also when he was freed from captivity. Pain had started to find a home on Edan then he met Julia and she rocked his world.
After two very hot nights with each other, Pain knows that Julia is his mate but he refuses to admit it at least to himself. It took Julia being stolen by the Jinggs, for Pain to hell everyone how he felt for Julia. While in captivity Julia stated to the Jinggs who wanted to claim her that she already was claimed by Pain. JUlia has been released from the Jinggs, Pain finally made the announcement to everyone including Julia how he feels about her.
This is an amazing alien romance! It's a flash fire of HEA and passion and I absolutely love it! I give two thumbs up for this book and series!!

Can Pain ever feel love again
Pain is the fourth book in the Alien Breed series and is about Julia and Pain. The Alien Breed Pain is just that............he can inflict pain but he also carries pain in his heart and his body. He history is just full of it and you can quickly understand the way he behaves now. Julia is a biologist who has come to Eden to study the plants of the planet. When she meets Pain there is something that she is drawn to and she develops a crush on him. He on the other hand is not interested in opening his heart to anyone because of his past but he does go to Julia one night and she accepts him. What happens between them was explosive. Only in the morning Pain had more than second thoughts which left Julia feeling hurt and used. They try to avoid each other from that morning on. But when Julia is taken by the Jinggs it he finally admits to himself and everyone else that Julia is his mate. But will it too late for them to be together? Will Julia be able to get away from the Jinggs or will they claim her?
This is a fast-paced and entertaining book with a solid story-line and interesting characters. I enjoyed this book.

An interesting quick-read alien romance that is somewhat different to the previous books but it is an enjoyable read. The well-written plot is intriguing with some heart-wrenching incidents & unexpected situations. The characters are likable & with good chemistry although one of them is quite hesitant about being involved in a relationship. There are some character crossovers but this book can be read as a standalone.
There is: a young female biologist (Julia) meets an alien breed (Pain) with devastating memories & becomes highly attracted to him although he tries to ignore her then to his dismay something happens, aggressive natives (Jinggs), twists & turns, drama, suspense, intrigue, guilt, danger, abduction, some violence, attractions, memories, unethical experiments, trauma, flashbacks, disagreements, regrets, heartache, confrontations, realization, mates, compromises, some steam, love & a satisfying conclusion with a interesting ending. I look forward to the next book with great anticipation.

The Alien Breed are humans who were crossbred with alien DNA and then usually abused and tortured or at least used illegally by their handlers for nefarious purposes. Pain was one of the Breed who had been used for experimentation. Now out of the facility at last, his life had been such that he no longer felt he deserved a mate and had no desire to risk the suffering of losing someone he cared about.
Julia cared for him as well, but he avoided any type of commitment and pushed her away, wanting her but afraid to get close. When she was kidnapped, however, he had to either walk away, knowing what she would suffer, or find a way to overcome his own fears to save her life. Would he try to save her? Could he tell her how he really feels if he does bring her home or will he be too late?
This is a very different kind of series that continues to pique my curiosity. Each of the Breed has their own story that captures the attention and sympathy (or respect) of the reader. Give it a try and let the story line and the characters pull you into their world.

Julia is attracted to Pain. Pain is reluctant to except Julia as his mate. He has gone through a lot as mentioned in previous books even though this is a standalone book. There are still of coarse undertones of all the books in the series to make you go. So his greatest fear is that the one he actually loves or he cares for will be taken away from them. This was a good book. They’re cameos from previous mates couples. So you kind of see how they are evolving while still focusing on pain. The next book is diamond. Can’t wait to see how this is going to pan out considering it seems like she fell in love with the king or the leader of the rival species of where they’re living. Don’t intend t so you kind of see how they are evolving while still focusing on pain. The next book is diamond. Pain... an Alien Breed who took his name from his past...
Pain’s backstory is full of the hardship of all the Alien Breeds, but the “experiments” he underwent were next level. To understand how his history separates him from his peers requires a lot of flashbacks, but they are worthwhile, meaningful, and help us to understand the wounded soul Julia has fallen for.
Julia is on Eden to study the plants, but as she gets to know the residents she appreciates their past, and present, all the more.
A lot of the characters from previous stories pop-up here, particularly Holly, from Player’s story, so while reading the previous stories isn’t required, it does help with understanding the people of the community.
Diamond is a female Alien Breed who spends time working with Julia, and it looks like she may be the first female Alien Breed to meet her match, and give us her story.
This is an entertaining, done in one, quick read.

I AM SOOOOOOO LOVING THIS SERIES AND PAIN YOU JUST MADE MY HEART ACHE, HUMAN CAN BE SO CRUEL
OMG I wanted to get my hands on the Doctor who put pain through so much heartache and torture. There was no way it was all for science the woman was mad in the head.
When pain goes to Eden he has to get used to living but the memories of his time under the doctors evil experiments is stopping him from really living. Julia has a crush on pain she cant understand the feelings she has for him when he just isn't interested until one night where pain has a little bit too much to drink and his defences is down. But will it be enough???
And then when Julia is kidnapped by the Jinggs, PAin cant hide his anger and pain to get Julia back.
OH MY THIS IS A FANTASTIC READ TOTALLY LOVED IT AND CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK..

Pain by Melody Adams was an incredible story that was heartbreaking and, simultaneously, uplifting!! It is the story of Pain and Julia. He was horrendously abused and tortured until he was released from his captors. He meets Julia, with his new ‘family’. Though he loves her, he can’t get over his abuse, and refuses to admit his feelings. Things occurs that change his beliefs…
What an incredibly moving, heart-breaking, torturous story!!!! It was unputdownable and full of love, romance, pain, and redemption. What an incredible story!!!!!

Pain's story in this series is heartfelt tragic until Julia appears into his life but can Pain allow himself to care for anyone after he pledges not too. Pain in his captivity was used as a guinea pig for the experiments by Dr. Muller and coerced by threatening his son if he did not obey. Years later at New Eden, Julia who fell in love with Pain finally catches his eye but his nightmares and promises he made when his son was killed by Dr. Muller and his feeling of self worth give them a bumpy road to overcome in this enjoyable story. This story is well written with more insight about the Jinggs when Julia and Diamond are caught. Will Pain rescue Julia from the Jinggs and choose Julia as his mate? While in the labs Pain had undergone untold pain and torture.He had been forced to impregnate a female then after becoming attached to her have her die in childbirth then his son who was born with defects is used as leverage to make him do what they want until the day they wanted him to create a new child. When he tells them No he is chained to the wall and beaten until most of his bones are broken then they break his young son's neck. He now has nightmares and feels unable to get close to anyone but finds he is drawn to Julia.he tries to avoid her but his behavior becomes more erratic.

Pain Is an alien breed that was used extensively in horrible experiments. Controlled by the son they forced him to have they threaten the boy constantly. When they finally follow through and kill him pain breaks. Now free he is haunted by his past and his attraction to Julia. He knows he can't have her he is broken and can't lose another person. However when she is abducted he finally sees the truth. Will he be able to bring her home to finally show her he is hers. I loved this story the series is always great but this book had such amazing characters. Pain is so flawed but amazing. Each time a new book comes out in this series I have to read it as soon as possible. I received an ARC and am leaving my truthful and voluntary review.

Julia is a biologist at the colony in Eden. She is very attracted to Pain, an alien breed. Pain has the hots for Julia but he has had so much pain in his life that he is scared to take a chance again on love. There is plenty of action, twists and turns, flashbacks, pain, and plenty of hot steamy sex. This story ends with an HEA for Pain and Julia but we have a small cliffhanger with the Jinggs chief being captured and Diamonds story I hope is next. Poor Pain, he suffered a lot at the hands of Dr Muller! That caused a lot of trauma. He has horrible nightmares and flashbacks, even now after being rescued. Eventually he goes to far and is ordered to speak to Holly, Player's mate. Julia does not have it any easier. She is drawn to Pain, but he leaves up to his name. One minute he is nice to her and next mean. The Jinggs are causing a lot of trouble for everyone. Then they finally get females.......

This quick read offers a blend of emotions, action, drama and excitement. Pain and Julia's story has a lot of ups and downs as their relationship evolves. This is book four in this series and although there are characters that reappear and events that are referenced between books, I feel you could read any of these books as a standalone if you chose to do so. One thing that never seems to change though is that I am always left feeling that there is untapped potential left unexplored when I finish one of these books. I am posting an independent, impartial review.

This was an awesome book that I really enjoyed. The story and characters grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading. I loved the characters and watching them grow together, they were well written and went well together. I found this book amazing with great word building making me feel apart of the story and watching it unfold in front of me. A definite must read for any fan and I can't wait to read more from this author!!!

Book four of the Alien Breed, English Edition series a well written addition to this series. This is Pain and Julia's story, they will have so much to get through especially with the way Pain was treated by Dr. Muller. There is suspense, drama, danger, kidnapping, flashbacks, and romance. What does Diamond mean to the leader of the Jingg I can not wait until that book in out. This series just gets better with each new book. This is the 4th book in this series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Pain has been through so much even though he is no longer captive the pain still lingers in his heart and he is afraid to love again. Sparks are flying between him and Julia. She cares for him but he continues to push away from her, will they find a way to be together? Fast-paced sci-fi read with lots of drama and suspense. The chemistry is steamy and the story really draws you in. Pain is an amazing character with lots of layers. I really liked it.

This was quite a short book which I enjoyed reading. It was light and easy to read with some romance and a little emotion and drama. It was the first book in this series that I have read, and I was able to read it as a standalone book, however I got the feeling that I was probably missing background information from previous books. There was some grammatical errors, but these were easily overlooked.

Pain had gone through so much at DMI. They put the guy through experiments of all kinds. They treated him like a lab rat. Now he is on another planet. Julia is there. It's a very good story. Excitement, danger on a new planet. All kinds of things going on. I think you will enjoy this one very much. I did. This is my first Melody Adams book, and I don't normally read sci-fi; however, I enjoyed it. The alien named "Pain" was experimented on and treated very cruely by an evil group. He was left broken, traumatized, and is riddled with guilt due to his child's death. Julia is drawn to him but he is skittish. Can they find happiness together? You gotta read to find out!

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough left you wanting more twists and turns hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride of emotions when Julia and Pain the chemistry between them is intense hot and heavy.

A quick spicy story. Pain knows who and what he wants but fear and guilt from his past are holding him back from fully accepting Julia. Pain's hot then cold treatment of her is making Julia believe that they just are not meant to be. A dangerous push makes Pain see he can't lose what he has yet to fully claim. An entertaining and fast read.

This is a pretty good little read if you enjoy a good alien romance then this is worth a go, This is Pain and Julia's story and I thought it was enjoyable book with lots of drama and action to hold my interest it is the fourth book in the series and are better if read in order so you know who is who.

This is the heartfelt romance of Julia and Pain. They are attracted to each other but Pain is unwilling to admit to his feelings. Great addition to the Paranormal Romance genre!
The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world she created.
