I fancied reading some shifter fiction and as my usual go to authors didn’t have anything out of pending. I had to have a search for some new authors. I enjoy reading a novella if it’s a new author to get a feel of whether I will like the author and series. So, I chose to read this novella along with another shifter novella by another “new to me” author. The cover uses a rather hunky male to represent one of the shifters in the novella, as well as featuring a light coloured, wolf and moon in the background.

The book begins with a clan meet up between the Belleview pack and the nearby Dozier pack. Solomon is the Belleview Alpha and is accompanied by his hot-headed brother Hunter and burly pack members Derek and Gregory. The Alpha of Dozier pack is Raymond, he is joined at the meet with his arrogant, antagonistic brother Ephraim, his second Titus.

It soon becomes apparent that Ephraim wants a fight and Hunter is all too willing to give him one. So much so the two Alpha’s discuss just the two of them attending the meeting to avoid the potential conflict. For the most part the shifters keep to themselves, though they are known about by the “human”, “non-paranormal people” but they still tend to keep themselves to their own kind. The only exception to the rule is Duke Dozier who lives amongst the non-paranormal people in Dozier. If there are any disagreements Duke tries to be a mediator or peacemaker.

Two non-paranormal characters that feature in this novella are Georgia and her sister. Georgia had left Dozier to go to college and nursing school but had felt an extraordinary pull to return, even though her awful ex-husband Vincent still lives there. Georgia is in the centre of Dockery one day indulging her ill sister Everly when they are informed there’s a meeting at the Town Hall that they should attend. Though Georgia would prefer to keep herself to herself, it is Everly that coerces her to attend the meeting, seeing as they are already in Dockery.

The rather mysterious, attention commanding, Duke Dozier speaks at the meeting, explaining he doesn’t want people to be afraid of shifters, he wants them to feel safe. He goes on saying people have become used to him. Then points out he has helped Marla’s daughter find her way home when she became lost in the fields. He also helped Gus out when his pub became super busy due to some lost tourist buses. Duke is trying to get the communities to mix, and have more trust around each other. Duke certainly gets the women at the meetings attention with his gorgeous green eyes.

Characters I loved and want to know more about are of course the gorgeous green-eyed Duke Dozier. Hot-headed Hunter who I can imagine locking horns with Ephraim, both of them causing problems for their respective Alpha’s Solomon and Raymond. I’m also curious as to who might be the perfect mate to tame Ephraim!

I did really get pulled into this novella and it has served as a great introduction to Dockery, it’s residents along with the Belleview and Dozier packs too. I am looking forward to reading more about these shifters and non-paranormal neighbours, can they all peacefully co-exist?

To sum up I really loved it but soooo many questions, it ends just about as the action is going to start and literally kick off!
The main question being, When can I read more????

ONE FREAKING OUTSTANDING TREAT!!!
Off the chain! Ellen gives us one refreshing spin of the damsel in jeopardy and bad boy to the rescue that will leave you reeling thrusting this bad boy to life beautifully. One non-stop, action packed, hard hitting, page flipping delight that keeps you riveted on a razors edge. Hurdling the trials and tribulations witnessing the struggles and hardships around every corner and sleek line that blasts this bad boy wide open. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue, deceit, danger and suspense ensues in epic proportions welding this bad boy together piece by piece. A swirling throng of vexing contingents and a bevy of surprising events catapults those sizzling emotions bursting into play. Twixt and twined and stretched to unbelievable limits until you feel everything the characters feel. The characters chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters personalities are genuine, authentic and realistic with such depth and qualities that blend and flow. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive its paints a fantastic backdrop that really makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Ellen, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Here is a review I'm long over due.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange of my honest thoughts.

I took an instant liking to the book . I will eat up anything that has Shifters and fated mates involved ;)
The story has promise, there are some world building gaps that I do hope the author will let us in with future books in the series. One of the reason I did not rush this review is also that I wanted to reread it once it came out so I don't make it injustice as there were several passages that I found confusing as to who's POV it was supposed to be and several grammar issues that even I noticed. But those were polished out nicely.
NOTE The blurb of the book is promising us a werewolf hunter for a female lead. However that is not the case. While she is tightly connected to the hunters FMC is in fact NOT one.

I read an advanced copy for an honest review.
Georgia is a nurse who was married to an abusive man, who hunts shifters. The ex can't serm to stay away from her.
Solomon is alpha of his pack and has a big secret. He's moody and burdened with the pressures of being in charge.
One day Solomon saves Geogia's life, but she is injured so he takes her back to his settlement.
She shouldn't be there, but there is an attraction and hunger these two are having trouble fighting.
There are a myriad of outside problems going on in the story, pack wars, ex troubles, etc. Ifound the story a bit difficult to hold my attention and kept wandering off to do other things, like check my phone.
The book is ok. Not great. Ok.

Georgia is a nurse in a hospital who is divorced from a crazy Hunter. Solomon is the Alpha of his pack in the mountains. Peace has reigned for a couple decades because of a treaty signed in between the two packs that exist on the mountain. The other shifter pack decided to attack Solomon’s pack for no reason. They attacked several more times to help run Solomon’s pack out of the territory. He discovers the mate bond with Georgia. They have a couple weeks together before the other pack attacks again. Her ex-husband has made her sister ill by trying to give her the Spark~ What will happen when the two packs come together for the final battle? Who will live, die or get hurt? I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Enticing

Well written story of shifters, humans, and hunters. Simple yet compelling. You’re wrapped up in the turmoil and intense meshing of all characters immediately. Great story!
