Pack, pack, PACK! : )

OMMFG, I loved these additional scenes from the past few books So. Damn. Hard.

Also, TJ is a fucking teasing bastard from hell.

In this short story, we finally got to hear Gavin's voice, too, and he is going to be so much fun to read. He's definitely Gordo's bitter, smartass, little brother.
The man-boy-child is an idiot.

Even the wolf knows this, and he’s feral.

The man-boy-child is loud. Brash. Stupid. His name is Carter. It’s a stupid name.

He almost gets himself killed time and time again.

He needs the wolf. He needs the wolf to protect him.
Ugh, now I'm totally stoked to get my greedy, little hands on "Brothersong", but sadly have to wait until goddamn August to scratch that itch!

5 stars.

This is a short story that gets into more detail of what a few of the characters go through at the end of Heartsong. The narration was excellent, and of course I still loved Robbie's Boston accent!

Yea I loved it, and now we wait!

A short story about what it means to lose your mind.

✅✅ Narration
✅ Writing
✅ All the feelings 💔
✅ Multiple POVs

Oh wow.

That one might have been 4 stars if I read it, but listening to it (you can find it for free here or read the digital version here) was so intense, I had to give it 5 stars. It was heartbreaking, with some sweet moments too.

You fight and you fight, and for what? A moment of peace? Where does that get you?

We can feel all the anger and deep despair of the Bennet brothers, and Gavin, who are simply trying to survive and get some peace. This book hurts because we can see how there is so much happening too fast for them to survive it with their feelings and minds intact, and it was heartwrenching to finally have an insight into their thought and feelings.

Bennett brothers’ POV as well as the timber wolf’s i.e.

Needless to say the timber wolf's POV was the one that I was looking forward the most.

But then she says, “He doesn’t know.”

He lifts his head from his paws.

She doesn’t look at him. “He will. Give him time.”

Don't read it unless you have read the previous books as it is full of surprises and spoilers.

Trust Klune to give us something I didn't even think to hope for!

🤩🤩🤩 even tho obvs 💔 cos ... have you been paying attention to this series *gulp*

This is why I am a reader & not a writer...I lack the imagination, heck I even managed to eff up my reader update when I devoured this on my lunchbreak - who even needs food?! 🤭
(I kid I kid, I totally ate)

Onwards to more destruction before hopefully *whispers* peace ... pretty please - everyone needs to catch a gd break sheesh 🥺

I almost wish I hadn't read this lovely freebie because ..... now the long desperate wait for Carter's book in August. But still, it was fabulous to get more from Green Creek.

A reread boost from three stars to four stars because yes.

------

I expected this extra to wreck me and that didn't quite happen. It was pretty moving, though. Oh and also. That fourth POV though..

.. is it August yet.

An interesting short story, from multiple POV (Carter, Kelly, Joe, Gavin) that stirs up new information, and gets us (kinda, sorta, maybe if you squint at it?) ready for Brothersong, which seems like it's going to be a helluva bumpy ride.

I listened as well as read, because that's how I do, and I loved Kirt's narration, and all his terrific character voices and his pacing, and I really loved the sound effects, but, if I'm being honest, the background music didn't give me the thrills and often seemed in contrast to the emotion in the moment of narration.

All in all - this is an awesome series, especially combined with audio, and...damn, August is really far away.

A little bit heartbreaking. So funny how TJ can hurt your heart and you’re privileged by it, by getting to experience it. By being gifted the story. And man, did it make me want to have Brothersong right freaking now!

And despite the sadness, TJ Klune gives his readers the best presents! 🔥

This novella is about the past. And what happened before.

It gives us a different POV for certain defining events in this saga.
We see and FEEL what Kelly, Carter, Joe and … behold! … Gavin are going through at particular moments.

And as always … TJ holds your attention, squeezes your heart and makes you understand his characters on an even deeper level!

Lovely addition to this epic series.

“You heal, but you’re covered in scars, aren’t you? All of you are. You fight and you fight, and for what? A moment of peace? Where does that get you?”

“It’s feral, this thought, and angry song that pulses like an infection.”

To say that I wanted to get something, anything in any of the Bennett brothers POV is not enough. No, at this point, I needed to get some kind of insight on them.

So, yeah, Feralsong was the answer that I had been looking for.

Finally getting to hear what they think, how they feel, even if for only a moment, is just what I've always wanted and it was just as satisfying as I always thought it would be.

“He wants to tear the world apart for being so unfair, for putting the weight of everything upon their shoulders once more.”

If we are talking merely in pain levels, I would say it was not comparable with the other two novellas. No, either of Lovesong's two parts was more consistently painful than this one was. But, that is not to say that Feralsong wasn't painful all on its own.

It was painful in a completely different way. More than grief-addled pain it was a pure kind of pain born from too much happening too fast.

And, well, the whole raw anger and desperation that accompanied it were a nice touch in shredding my heart and soul a little bit.

“We are pack. I know you’re scared. I know that uncertainty lies ahead. We have much to do. But we’ll do it together because we’re the goddamn Bennett pack, and our song will always be heard.”

Now, I truly can't wait for Brothersong to come out.

It wasn't quite as painful as I thought it was gonna be but, hey, it was still incredibly painful.

RTC.

I'm not sure how gutted I'm gonna be by the end of this novella, but if things can be related to its predecessors, I'll say very. It's not a bad thing.

One thing I find funny is the fact I've read all the novellas in disorder. Not like it makes much of an effect but the fact remains.

Getting the POV's of all the Bennett brothers is gonna be something unique and I'm looking forward to it. Yet again, I'm looking forward, mostly, for the destruction of my heart.

Grief, vast and blue, blue, blue.

What's with those short stories?! Each one of them is like a punch to the gut!

I need Brothersong right this second, pleaseeee
Leave it to T.J. Klune to make me suffer for a short story like this one. By now I'm just so attached to these characters and seeing them loving and caring for each other is the most wonderful thing ever. But it also breaks my heart to see them suffer, and they have suffered so much throughout the years! August can't come soon enough!

This hurt me so badly to read, but I‘m so happy we got a glimpse into the after effects of Heartsong! Kelly and Robbie are my all time favorites from this series so I’m very glad they featured a heavy amount in this novella. Poor Carter, I can’t wait for him to get his happy ending in the finale!

Relisten #?? 2 or 3 I have no idea lol.
Joe my darling you deserve the world.
.....................

I absolutely LOVE this one because I've
always felt like Joe was very underrated in this series.
He is one of the strongest characters but I feel as if he's on the sidelines because he's mated to Ox. And Ox is werewolf Jesus.

But here we get to see him in all his vulnerable, childish glory. We get a front row seat to what he REALLY feels about being an alpha and all that comes with it.

After finishing this, Joe is definitely one of my fave characters.
Right after Gordo and Gavin.
Because the Livingstone boys own my heart. Sorry Bennets.

Because I am reading this after already reading (and being obsessed with) the series, I know I love it! It is bringing me back into their world. However because I am reading this after already reading the series, I know this was not as great because it's just a small peek into their minds for a moment. It didn't give much, but gave just enough :)
