High House Canis #4

Shadow's Howl

Rate this book
Some secrets are too shameful to reveal…

Academy-trained mage Jennifer Shaw is setting out to make things right. First stop is the hideout of the wolf shifter rebels, where she’s greeted by the most suspicious, untrusting, and downright gorgeous man she’s ever met. With the need to focus on her own mission, it’s only fair the universe assigns her the worst distraction possible as guide and guard. But she’s got a secret to fix, and even the hella-handsome hunk isn’t going to distract her.

After a betrayal that rocked him to his core, Liam Canis doesn’t trust anyone farther than he can throw a dragon. That includes the mage who appears out of thin air, claiming to be there to help the rebels finally defeat the Tyrant King and retake their home. Despite her gorgeous figure and insane attraction to his entire being, Liam isn’t going to let himself be dissuaded from finding out her real reason for being there.

Time is running out for the duo, as the forces loyal to the Tyrant King rush to reinforce the fortress at Moonshadow Manor. The two of them will have to learn to get along if they hope to bring down the defenses and lead the rebels to victory. Linden isn’t sure he can ever trust his gut again, no matter what it says about Jennifer and what she might mean to him. But only a mated pair will be able to save his friends, and fix a wrong she can’t ignore…

Riley is one of those early-morning people you love to hate, because she swears she doesn't need caffeine, even though the coffee-maker is connected to her smartphone. She lives in a three-story townhouse by the good graces of a tabby-cat who rules the house, the couch, the table, well, basically everywhere. When she's not groveling for forgiveness for neglecting to pet her kitty enough, Riley is strapped in to her writing chair coming up with crazy worlds where she can make her own decisions of when feeding time is and how much coffee can be drank without her friends--of which she has three--holding yet another intervention that they threaten to post on the internet.

An Amazing read
Liam Canis doesn't trust anyone anymore, Not fully. Not even his leader or the men around him. They have his respect but after he was betrayed by the one person he thought would always have his back, his best friend Linden he just cant let his guard down again. Especially when there is so much at stake. The time is near for then to take down the Tyrant King and take back Moonshadow Manor. So when a mage appears offering to help take the king down Liam is not happy. He thinks she is a spy and she is keeping lots of secrets from them. The there leader Logan puts Liam in charge of get the mage Jennifer Shaw ready for the battle that is coming.
It soon comes apparent that Jennifer is not a combat mage but she does not trust Liam enough to tell him why she is here. Why she has given everything up to be here to help in the battle. But she does have her reasons and Jennifer will fight tooth and nail to be here. But not everyone is happy and its not long till Liam is having to defend her. And this confuses him. Could there be more to the mage??? Could they finally trust each other??? And would the battle be won of does everything just go wrong.
This is a brilliant fast pacing read full of action and drama. But its also one hell of a romance and learning to trust and believe in yourselves. I could reread this book over and over again. A Fantastic storyline and it was great to read about the battle!!!!!
A amazing series loving it!!!!!

After being betrayed by the person closest to him Liam trusted no one, which was why his alpha asked him to find the truth when a mage joined their fight. Though Jen joined he rebels to help them fight she was not combat trained and had to practice her skills. To do so Liam was assigned to be her partner and while they trained he tried to find out why she was really their. As the time for battle grew closer they revealed their secrets to eachother and found that they were stronger together. In this book the battle for the throne finally takes place, but Liam makes a comment about feeling that something else was going to happen. So this may be an opening for more disruptions, and pairings that the author has planned. Their is no cheating or cliffhangers to be found in this book and though it can be read as a standalone to get the full experience it should be read as part of the series. Like the rest of these books I enjoyed the story and found the characters likable.

Jennifer is a mage and wants to help the rebel wolves because she thinks it is the right thing to do - or is there another reason behind her actions?
Liam has been betrayed by his best friend, and has huge trust issues - but is commanded by his alpha to look after Jen. They definitely feel an attraction towards each other - and to beat the Loyalists and the King they must work together. Jennifer is a powerful mage - but so is the one who works with the king.
Will the rebels be able to win the confrontation, and will Liam and Jen both make it through the battle that is coming their way?
This book reads really well as a stand alone story, but is even better when read as a part of the House Of Canis series - I am loving all of the stories.

Another amazing story in this series

If you haven't read any of the earlier books you can still enjoy this story but it does make it so much better to have the background from the rest of the series Two scared and lonely people who just want to put the world to rights after betrayals and hurt neither believe in themselves but can they believe in each other when there are such deep and disturbing secrets between them ? The story is more important than the romance but again it doesn't leave you wanting if that is your favourite bit of a book and the intrigue and suspense is enough to make sure you don't want to put it down. I don't know where this series can go next but I cant wait to find out

Shadow's Howl is the fourth exciting installment in the High House Canis series. This fast-paced, action-packed story will keep your heart racing throughout. Plenty of twists and turns will keep you on your toes.

In this story, shifters are pitted against one another as a power-hungry crazy man occupies the high seat, driving brothers and friends to choose sides. Amidst the action and danger, sassy women capture the hearts of these fierce wolf shifters, but in doing so, they find themselves facing threats at their doorstep. Finding their mates is everything to them, but it also becomes the very thing that can be used against them.

Riley has crafted a compelling narrative in this new series, showcasing her talent for developing relatable characters and intricate plots. I look forward to seeing how the series unfolds!

Jennifer Shaw is an academy-trained mage with a dark secret but she is setting out to make things right even if it destroys her life. Her first stop is the wolf shifter rebels’ hideout where she’s greeted by the most suspicious, untrusting and downright gorgeous man she’s ever met, but she can’t let him distract her. A betrayal rocked him to his core and Liam Canis doesn’t trust anyone and he’s not going to be dissuaded from finding out the real reason the mage is there. Time is running out and only a mated pair will be able to save his friends and fix a wrong she can’t ignore.

This ‘High House Canis’ story is a cauldron full of trouble, energy and emotional turmoil. The chemistry between Jennifer and Liam is raw and full of electrical sparks that fly in every direction (sometimes literally) although they have a bit of charming cluelessness about their attraction and what it means. This couple is perfect for each other and their relationship is quite cute even as it captures the heart with all the gripping emotions that flow from the pages.

The plot is fast paced and energetic with lots of non-stop suspense and action that keeps readers hanging on by the fingernails with bit of excitement. The author portrayed this story and wonderful couple with bright, vivid intensity which makes it easy for readers to picture each and every detail including all the magic and passion. The story also has a stunning and exciting magical battle that results in a wonderfully exciting change for the rebels that readers can’t help but enjoy.

High Praise for High House
Shadow’s Howl - High House Canis, Book 4, by author Riley Storm is an exciting and fitting end to a great series. All her characters are intriguing and that makes them fun to not only follow but root for their successes.
So while on a macro level I wanted Logan to become King and rule the House of Canis, on a micro level I wanted Magi Jennifer and Liam to be Mated. It becomes a plus for Jen and her successes at the end.
Because this book and series ends on such a high not I’m definitely recommending this book, and series for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.
I received this ARC from “Bad Boy Update” for my honest review so I’m leaving this for your consideration. Peace.

I just love this series! The war over the House of Canis is coming to a head and Liam is right in the thick of it. Jennifer is a Mage who is determined to make up for the damage done to the House of Canis. She leaves the academy and shows up at the farm to help. Her appearance is not overly welcomed, but Liam get the job of vetting her and deciding whether she can be trusted. Their chemistry is instant, but they make each other crazy. As they get to know each other the chemistry ramps up, as does the time to attack the Manor. Great story line, fabulous characters...I can't wait to see what is next!

Continues to be a good series

This continues to be a good series. I enjoy each installment. Only wish a little more time for each character so they can have a bit more exposition.

Anyways- one item that seems a little odd is why is blue magic considered evil? I get that it was used for evil purposes in the past, but isn’t just another tool and if someone is born with it that doesn’t make them evil it is what they choose to do with it. I must have missed something about blue magic somewhere.

Anyways, I will purchase the next book when it becomes available.

Book 4....

In book 4 of "High House Canis", the fight is about to come to a head. Due to a betrayal, Liam has some serious trust issues. Needless to say he isn't jumping for joy when a Mage shows up offering her help. Jennifer has her reasons for wanting to help the wolves but she's going to need help getting ready for the battle. Guess who's given that task? Yeah...looks like trouble. I have enjoyed this series a lot and would recommend it.

Another great book to the House of Canis series brings Liam and Jennifer's story. The author once again does a fantastic job building their story with all the drama and suspense along with tons of action and a sizzling hot chemistry. She adds in some humor and lots of love and delivers a well written book with strong well developed characters and an intriguing story line. It moves quickly and smoothly and is an entertaining read. I loved and would recommend this book.

Liam has been betrayed before, has difficulty trusting anyone, and has a natural hatred of mages. Jennifer, a talented mage, risked all to do what is right, but when offering her help to the rebels, her greatest trial was the guard assigned to her, Liam. The House of Canis series is heating up and these two characters who have difficulty being vulnerable with each other must work together to survive. I recommend this novel and suggest reading the entire series for full enjoyment.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Liam has some very serious issues - namely trust. When Jennifer - a mage - shows up out of the blue to help get into the Manor of House Canis, he's suspisious... He'd never in his wildest dreams thought of her being his mate...
The story of the rebels keeps getting on and on. But now, with Jennifers help everything seems possible... Great story within the series. You just keep wondering what comes next...

I fell in love with Jennifer and Liam. The two are fiery and make for some very entertaining reading. Both are strong willed and don't want to put up with anyone's BS. Jennifer has a secret that she doesn't want to tell anyone from the Rebels camp as to why she's so willing to help them in their fight with the Royal Court. This is the fourth book in the House Canis series, and I am looking forward to more.

Wow! This just keeps getting better. Jennifer and Liam's story had everything you expect from this series. Their connection is sizzling even if they try and ignore and fight it. There's action, suspense, drama, steam, love, laughter, and a fight that rivals others. I know we aren't done yet with Plymouth Falls and the way that Riley Storm weaves a story, I want more!

Another awesome story. I do love these stories. There is excitement and danger all around. Some of the other books have more fighting than some. They all have the danger and excitement in them. I liked the first of the book when Liam and Jennifer first meet. The dialog between them is something else and funny too. Liam had been deceived by his best and only friend. So when Jennifer said she came to help defeat the Tyrant King, why would he believe a human and a mage. Interesting and engaging story with well defined character portrayal. Very good read!

Another excellent addition to the “High House Canis” series. The odd thing, for me, is that usually I have issues with the main female character. But this time I didn’t really like Liam, the main male character. I thought he was a jerk. Sure, his back story was sad. . . A brutal betrayal at the hands of his closest friend, but you’re still responsible for your own actions. Other than his behavior at the initial meeting with Jennifer, the mage that comes to help them in their fight, I was able to mostly itnore his brutish behavior, so the book wasn’t totally ruined for me.

I also love seeing appearances from other characters from previous books. I highly recommend this series. While it’s not necessary to read “High House Ursa” before this series, it does make the reading experience much richer.
