Slightly older, but still just as prone to getting into trouble, prince Herscherik is still digging into the depths of the corruption in his kingdom. And because his father wants his son to have more protection than just a butler, Herscherik is forced to take on a knight of service. But the man he chooses has no desire for the job.

I really like the way Octavian is presented here. He's surly in a different way than Kuro, and completely unimpressed with being asked to protect a 5-year-old in what is probably a lifetime assignment. But it's more than teenage grumpiness that drives him. And when Hersh offers to help with his goals, he's at first incredulous, then slowly finding his emotions changing.

Herscherik (formerly Ryoma) still has no special abilities to speak of, but the memories of his previous life give him a fair amount of insight. He really is stuck depending on Kuro and Octavian to handle most of the problems, but he's still the main driver of the investigation.

Overall these continue to be solid stories that could be read alone, but start to form a nice arc when read together. They're a bit slower paced than the usual light novel, but the worldbuilding and characters tend to be more complex and solid because of it. I rate this book Recommended.

Our prince gains a new companion and through the man an old crime comes to the light. Solving it, forces the prince to ask for help and reveals there might be more than one enemy faction out there.

Like book 1, intelligent villains, a protagonist who has to work by following paper trails instead of blowing things up and a world were things are not simple are the pros. The overly dramatic feelings of guilt of the prince a bit irritating. The villain also seems to fall in the unnecessarily complicated plotting trope, but that might appear to be the case since we don't know much about the villain and their motivation. Still, an enjoyable read.

Again, a wonderful book, I just wish the 30-year-old woman thing had not been mentioned this many times. But it is usually short, usually a paragraph and I can easily skip it.

This story focuses on how the little prince recruited a night of service into his well, service. Once again, lots of intrigue, enough action to keep things interesting, I just love this series so much. The little princess 6 in this one! Rather than three and five respectively lol. I don't know why, I just like children that act older than they should be. Anyway, highly recommend this whole series! I will be following this author going forward.

A nice read

I dinged the novel a star for being explainy in places. Overall it was a relaxing story that dealt with some serious topics while maintaining suitability for a younger audience.

competent writing and plotting. i do wish kusunoki would do something with the inherent weirdness of having to play a male child as an adult woman but ah well. not everybody is as interested in Gender™

Didn't realize that this volume would be too intense... and also painful. Wow! I still love it, as evident for being able to finish reading this in one day. I guess I must have like this story very much.

Continues to be one of the more interesting isekai light novels being published in english at the moment. Interesting political manoeuverings, interesting characters, and some light mystery elements. Solid translation, too.

The prince is adding yet another member to his support network. The writing is still well done. The interaction with others is getting more detailed and more interesting.

Well worth a read.
