Reed Montgomery #2

Hunt to Kill

Rate this book
Reed Montgomery bought his freedom with blood. Thirty assassinations in exchange for liberty from death row—that was the deal. He delivered on twenty-nine of those kills before the kingpin of the hitman world turned on him. There’s no deal now, but the killing has just begun.

Only days after sidestepping a death trap in Atlanta, Reed is on the hunt for the man who betrayed him. It’s not about freedom anymore—it’s about justice, and maybe a taste of revenge. Far north of the city, amid the wilderness of the Appalachian Mountains, Reed will stop at nothing to balance the scales and leave his former mentor in a pool of frozen blood.

But as the frost sets in, a new player steps onto the stage. They call him The Wolf, and Reed has no idea who he’s working for. Only one thing is clear: He’s here to hunt. He’s here to kill.

He’s here for Reed.

In this explosive sequel to OVERWATCH, Logan Ryles keeps the twists, turns and energy flowing as Reed follows up on the fallout in Atlanta. With new characters, fresh intensity, and enough mystery to keep you turning pages, Hunt to Kill promises to deliver a thrilling ride right to the final paragraph. You don't want to miss the continued adventure!

Slightly better than the first installment in the series. Again, lots and lots of action, but there is still very little substance to the story.

Plenty of action once the reader gets past the prison scene. That portion is a prequel to the first book. Other than the action, there is very little substance to the story. Typical of the genre.

A bit of a flash back here, as we start out with Reed Montgomery on death row. He is given the choice of staying there, and ending up dead, or working for Oliver as a contract killer. We know from the 1st book that he completed 29 of the 30 hits that he contracted for. The wheels fall off for the 30th hit, who is the godfather of a woman he cares about. Oliver was just the broker for that hit and he also betrayed Reed. Now Reed is the target. The action continues from the first book and it looks like this series is best read in order as it continues into Book #3, Total War.

I sort of enjoyed this book. I expected a conclusion and was dissapointed. Also the first 30% of the book was the prequel to Overwatch. As remarked by other reviewers this 30% should have been part of Overwatch.
Only other comment is Reed Montgomery makes Steve Austin, The Six Million Dollar Man look like a wimp. Surely the human body can't take that amount of punishment ?

fast moving thriller.

A fast moving thriller once you get past the prison scenes which are a bit far
fetched given the wardens were themselves vicious thugs. Reeds killing of
a fellow convict in a different compound as payment for his release and the method used also far fetched. The subsequent action has Reed surviving attacks
more by good luck than his ability.

Compelling read

The second in the series, every bit as gripping as the first. Fast paced, well written and to use the well worn cliche, impossible to put down. Number three here I come

The second book starts with the reason why Reed is in the position he's in which would have been better in book one !Reed has been betrayed by people he thought he could trust and is now out for revenge .

Terrible trash

I didn't review book 1 it was so.bad but 2 is worse.

No explanation as to.how Reed was tracked or any continuity in this unreadable tripe.

The fight scenes were risible, not so much Jack Teacher as Jack Spratt.

Don't give up the day job.

Wow

A roller coaster ride , read alone or as part of a series. Fantastic, great action, so descriptive, twisting plot always moving onwards at such a fast pace. Highly recommended.

Hunt to kill

Action book once it got going, but hard to believe how much damage the hero takes without it really slowing him down much. The confusion brought about by whoever really calls the shots leaves you more puzzled but looking forward to the answers.

Another good read in this series. Apart from a somewhat slow and backstory fill in start, it moves at a very fast pace and has plenty of action and twists. Interested to see where Reed goes next.

Exciting sequel to Overwatch, but I agree that the story was rather thin.

This novel fills in a lot of gaps of information that were hinted at in the first book. Fast paced, with lots of bloody action. The love story still feels a bit forced

Another 5 Stars

This was the second book I have read in this series and it continues to go from strength to strength. I managed to squeeze the prequel, Sandbox, in between the two books and that filled in a lot of gaps. I am really enjoying reading about Reed. A big thank you to the author and another well deserved 5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
