'WHERE THE LITTLE BIRDS GO' is the first full length romance book in B. Celeste's new series. In this we meet & Kinley. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

First off let me start off by saying this author has grown, each book she's published is getting better and better and this book right here is no exception, from the story line, to the characters, to the quotes saved made for such a compelling unputdownable read. It flits from 'Past' to 'Present Time' flawlessly.

I loved spending time with these two in the 'Past' from the new boy around town, to the nerdy bookworm, who became friends that spent every waking moment with each other, bonding over 'Stephen King' movies whilst eating red twizzlers.

Both having dreams that seemed so out of reach but each supported the other no matter how far fetched it was. Corbin wanted to be an actor, imagining himself acting in one of Stephen Kings movies would've been his ultimate goal and leaving the small town behind him. Kinley had dreams of becoming an author, and spent many hours bent over a journal plotting scenes.

The best friend, the loving boyfriend, the heartbreaker.

It was only right that these two would progress into more..

Until Corbin rides off into the sunset to seek out his dreams leaving Kinley heartbroken behind in his dust.

Fast forward nine years and these two are side by side again. And both have accomplished their wildest dreams. One of Kinley's books has been adapted into a movie and Corbin is the main character acting out the scenes.

It was as though it was only yesterday, Kinley is still very much hurt from Corbins broken promises in the past and doesn't want anything to do with Corbin. Nothing is the same, but what is the same is the feelings they had before is still simmering away in the background waiting to be ignited again, only to do so would be stepping into forbidden territories.

We made a pact that we'd never leave each other behind.

Ok, so this is a book I read knowing I maybe wouldn’t love it, but sometimes I get curious how something is done, if it can convince me. Also, my triggers for certain things aren’t really borne out of my morality of thinking certain things are right or wrong. Generally I hate things in romance books for one of two reasons: the heroine being treated badly or plot points I feel fundamentally aren’t romantic. This book while I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it either. This type of book is what I think generates good discussion about what is and isn’t romantic, so when finished I didn’t want to rant about it as much as I wanted to seriously explain why I didn’t like it all that much. It had potential.

Most people aren’t going to like this book because it contains cheating, that was honestly not even the biggest issue with the book for me. In this case the hero and heroine cheat with each other, which like I said above I don’t hate something because of moral reasons (I can if its like abuse etc). I can be a hypocrite and enjoy a book where the two MCs cheat with each other LOL I totally get why some people can’t be down with it, but in a fiction book (typically second chance types) I can.

That being said, while I can enjoy cheating MCs, it has to be done in a way I can enjoy it, and this one was so so. As a second chance romance it was also so so, it did some things well and others not so well.

What I liked:
-liked that the heroine wasn’t celibate in separation and followed her career dreams
-it held my interest to the end
-liked the backstory of how they met and came to fall in love
-Liked both their inner thoughts mostly, it’s always so important to me that inner thoughts give you the information you want, especially in a second chance you want to know how they feel and felt during separation
-Love scenes were very well-written
-just from a writing standpoint I thought the book was well-written, I liked the authors style in spite of a lot of writing choices I didn’t like. That always sucks, finding an author where you love their writing style but know their writing choices don’t line up with what you find satisfying in a romance book

That brings me to the things I didn’t like, buckle up:

-The separation
It was too long for what the author wanted to accomplish with the story. Authors really need to think about this, I know they get in their heads and think OH TEN YEARS will be angsty but when you have to have the hero married most of that time it never works out well for what you are trying to get across as a romantic story of two meant to be people.

-The hero
He was selfish, smug and annoying for most of the book. One thing I cannot stand in second chance romance books, especially in ones where the hero is the one that did the wrong is when they come face to face with the heroine again and are smug. It just drives me nuts! Have them be humble, acknowledge the hurt they caused with sincerity. He immediately acts like everything is fine. I just didn’t feel there was enough time given to show us his genuine remorse for leaving her before he was pursuing her again all while he had a freaking wife. The book ends on a cliffhanger (that was so very predictable, I knew early on what it would be) but it also ends with him again sending her a message with a gift as she is staring at pictures of him with his wife, so again it just feels he is still being a selfish ass that is trying to hang onto her and keep his wife. Also, his reason for leaving her and never contacting her is weak as hell, typical he wanted his career more. He said he did come back but her brother scared him off, weak! He says he is only with the wife because he got swept up in her and her traditional family, but they hardly spend time together, so he doesn't totally love her, just is with her for her family and his image, weak!

-The romantic story was weak
Yes, they had some moments where it was romantic, mostly in the past chapters. I just hated the whole dynamic of how they were bought back together in the present. For one, the heroine while not celibate, had been in failed relationship after failed relationship, but the hero had a perfectly fine marriage, yeah it wasn’t filled with love and passion but it worked for him mostly till he saw the heroine again. That is a second chance romance NO NO, why would I care to read about two people finding each again like this? And it is always the hero who is fine to move on and date/get married, rarely the heroine. Of course she was miserable without him and he was fine. NOW because he has seen her again, he decides he wants her again and is willing to blow up her life to have it. He makes absolutely NO sacrifices in this story for her. She gets turned into the OW in the story and forced to leave the set of the movie he is starring in for the book SHE wrote. He took the role to be near her again, so again being selfish and disrupting her career. Her biggest breakthrough for her work and she has to leave it all because he decided he always loved her even though he has fallen in love at one point with his wife enough to marry her. Fuck that! On top of that, the cliffhanger will further make it so that she can’t celebrate her book being made into movie.

I totally get that most women who read romance like to have the heroine be in this morally superior position to enjoy the angst of it,the wronged party, but there is a line there to walk. Yes, it helps the story for us to feel bad for the heroine and how he left her, but there comes a point where it gets pathetic especially in a story like this where the hero lived just fine without her, and would have probably continued being fine if she hadn’t been inserted back in his life again by fate. Fate can be a romantic notion, but it’s only romantic when both sides were miserable without each other, in this case the hero wasn’t, so it comes across like him being rewarded with cake and getting to eat it too. He will of course get his first choice happy ending even though he had a myriad of other options where he could have been happy/fine, the heroine only had ONE option to be happy, and that pisses me off! The heroine in book after book I read in this trope can only be happy with the hero, while he can be happy with others.

The cheating they do is honestly the least of my worries in this book, I feel I understand the pull they had to each other. The heroine is sucked into him reliving their past romance, he manipulates her with all kinds of stuff like that, like he is the old guy she fell for, so I can get why she gave in. Also he says he and the wife are thinking of divorcing if not for her family. It is everything else that bothers me about their present day romance. I just wasn’t convinced he truly loved her as anything other than some vanity symbol from his past that makes him feel good, even their first sex scene was very unromantic and I didn’t think the actual sex was necessary in that scene. They should have stopped themselves there so the last sex scene felt more meaningful not only to their dynamic, but also gave some more sensitivity to the fact he was married and they knew it was wrong.

-Extra information:
What do I mean by extra information? I mean information that the author chooses to give to flesh out their story. Sometimes it is helpful and sometimes it is just mind boggling in how unnecessary it is. So in a second chance romance, we have to be told all the information of what they did in the separation. In this book we have to hear about all the fun hero had sleeping around, how he and his wife have phone sex a lot (we are spared a scene of it thank god), who he lost his virginity too who was not the heroine (it was before he met her tho), how he met his wife and it took one look for them to be attached at the hip etc etc so much that just shits all over his connection with the heroine, I don’t know why authors do this. Why do we need to know he and his current wife have phone sex? Why did we need to be told by name who his first sexual partner was and how much it hurt the heroine to know they weren’t each other’s firsts even tho he was hers? It hurts the romance story, because now we know the heroine never had a first with him, she wasn’t his first kiss, his first sexual partner, wasn’t the first girl he asked to marry him, wasn’t his first wife etc etc Of course all we get from her side is she has failed relationships bc of him, she cried the first time she had sex with someone who wasn’t him, that’s all we know of her in separation, all that ANNOYS ME! She will have one first with him based on the cliffhanger, which is always what a girl wants with a guy who has a wife he won’t leave because his career is more important. RME

All in all, I write reviews like this when I feel there was a chance there for a good story, it frustrates me so much how so many authors just don’t make good writing choices in second chance. I will read the next book to see what happens, but I doubt it wraps up satisfying. The only small hope I have is some of the hero’s selfishness did feel purposeful, so we shall see if she can redeem him, because he sucks currently, and is an adulterer on top of it.

I really enjoyed this second chance/Hollywood romance. Yes, the ending is predictable but that had no influence on my enjoyment of this book.
Kinley and Corbin have history. First love, soul mates kind of history. The reader will get the story of how they first meet when they are teenagers and to them being in the present time.
I liked both narratives. Both strong with emotion and it’s also one of the reason why I connected with Kinley and Corbin. From their first meeting there’s a connection between them. A beautiful friendship forms which slowly turns into more.
There’s a lot of hurt feelings between the two of them when they see each other again after being separated for years but it can never take away the love they still have for one another. It’s not easy when one of them is a married Hollywood superstar.
Where The Little Birds Go is book 1 in a Duet and I can’t wait to read the sequel. I totally adore Kinley and Corbin.

Spoilers Ahead

First off this book contains cheating. I skipped those scenes because I can’t stomach them. So when you start this book keep one thing in mind

The main hero lead is an ACTUAL selfish asshole. Not the kind where he is an asshole first but then redeems himself by being super amazing hot sexy loveable. Well at least not in the first book. We will have to wait for the second book to release to see if he is redeemable.

Okay so this story has two parts, past and the present.

Past
It's basically about Cordin and Kinley meeting each other for the first time and how their friendship bloomed into a relationship. It was cute ngl, hence the 1 star, its only for young Cordin and Kinley. I really liked how they both supported each other and their dreams, already planning on being each other’s dates for the oscars and the RITA awards. Kinley had always been a shy loner kind of girl but Cordin pushed through her boundaries and made a place for himself.

Until he ruins everything by not keeping his promise.

Present
Cordin is a famous actor and now also casted as the main lead for Kinley’s book based movie. That is where they meet again and things go south. Kinley does try her best to ignore Cordin but like I said he is a selfish jerk, so even though he is married to someone else, he still pursues Kinley because he is still in love with her.

description

Now Kinley, girl, boo, you good girl? ARE YOU GOOD GIRL!?

I begin saying something when his phone starts ringing. He ignores it, grabbing onto my hips and grazing my ass to pump harder into me. When I try moving to see who’s calling, he kisses me with everything in him. It’s how I know whose name is lighting up his screen. “Corbin—”“Don’t,” he pleads, his cock hardening in me as he lays me back down and fucks me harder. Because that’s what this is. Fucking. Screwing. Nothing more. The tears that well now make their way down my cheeks as he buries his face in my neck and thrusts a few more times before reaching between us and playing with my clit. “Don’t,” I tell him, stopping his hand. He sits up on his arms and slows his movements, brows pinching. “Kinley…”“Just finish.” “Kinley—”“Just fucking come, Corbin!” I hiss, grabbing onto his shoulders and kissing him with a ferocity that has him stunned as he begins moving again. Harder and harder and harder. Until— “Fuck.” He pulls out just as he comes, hot stickiness hitting the inside of my leg while I stare at how his chest rises and falls. His phone starts ringing again. I dare to look. Because I hate myself. Because I need to punish myself like Beck does. Swallowing, I say, “You should probably answer that.” Sitting up, I grab his discarded shirt from the floor and wipe myself off before collecting my clothes that are scattered everywhere. “Kinley,” he whispers, not picking up the cell that so blatantly displays Lena’s name. I wave it off. “It’s not like I didn’t know.” And that’s the problem. Because I’d do it again.

description

Yes I know Kinley the word "dignity" is not in your dictionary. Truly sad.

One of my hands covers hers. “You’re not the married one, Kinley. I’m the bad guy. I hate myself for what I’ve done since I stepped out of Lincoln. For choosing my career. For making assumptions. For rushing into marriage. I hate not being able to love you loudly—to hold your hand for everyone to see, to put my hand on your back without the rumors, to kiss you without people criticizing us. I hate myself for doing this wrong, but I hate myself more for dragging you down with me because I need you.”
Her eyes close.
“I. Need. You.”
She exhales a breath.
“I. Love. You.”
A tear sticks to her eyelashes.
“And I’ve never stopped.”

Slow Burn | Hollywood | Second Chance Romance DUET

B. Celeste writes an amazing array of forbidden romances. Each on is unique, gut wrenching, and beautiful. The characters are flawed but relatable. Can you get any better than this? To be able to slay each novel you write is astonishing, and B. Celeste does it every time. She doesn’t write perfect characters but instead, writes normal, raw, and flawed people that everyone can find some sort of kinship with. Her characters aren’t always likeable in the moment, and they do some things that many people may not like, but its REAL. For these reasons, I am always looking forward to the next B. Celeste book and why many readers ADORE them just like me.

Where the Little Birds Go is the first book in the Duet. The second book is coming SOON so don’t worry that you’ll have to wait long. Yes, the cliffhanger is THERE AND GASP WORTHY, but book 2 releases soon. You can find it here on GR if you’re interested >> WHERE THE LITTLE BIRDS ARE

B. Celeste writes a Hollywood romance between an ACTOR and the AUTHOR who wrote the script for the movie. Their romance isn’t something new though as they fell in love when they were teenagers… So, you’ll see the build up from that in flashbacks and what happens years later when they are reunited…

This is a SLOW BURN romance. You’re going to be so aware of the angst that your heart is going to feel as if it’s on fire when reading. You’re going to feel the FORBIDDEN ASPECTS of their relationship and while it may not be RIGHT it makes sense for the two of them. My gosh, my HEART. But you will most likely also SLOWLY fall in love.

Ladies, I recommend this book. It’s a great story, written with precision and heart, and tells a great tale of forbidden love. I cannot wait to get my hands the next book and am anxiously awaiting its release!

A great and heartbreaking Hollywood romance read.
The writing was amazing and the characters substantially developed within an engaging plot. Some of the lines were exceptional.
Corbin was portrayed as a very selfish person, placing his career as his first and last priority.
Kinley was a very sweet and quiet girl, completely heartbroken after Corbin didn’t keep his promise to her.

Corbin’s behaviour frustrated me to the fullest degree, as well as his actions and there were moments that I wanted to smash my tablet!
I wasn’t thrilled at all with the past and present chapters switching, which didn’t help my state of joy.

Self note avoid.
The H dumped the h -his supposed true love- for his career.

Then he met the super model ow, fell in love enough to marry her. He fell so instantly- he couldn’t keep his hands off her - that he rushed his marriage to this ow. 🙄

Years later (10yrs) when he’s a famous actor - and still married to that hot ow (although he says he doesn’t love her like the h- yea rights🙄) - he takes an acting job in a movie based on the h book.

He chases her. They have a sexual affair, the h knew about the wife, but she’s a pathetic doormat and can’t help herself.

He wants the wife and the h as Ow.

Spoiler and safety info for book 2

The H files for a divorces to be with the h.

But no worries, apparently there are lots of H pov where he thinks about his love and burning lust for the wife/ow when they first met.
- there are sex scenes with the wife/ow in book 2 where it was so hard for him to push her off him. He was hard and fully aroused…

- In his Pov we are told how awesome the ow is at taking his dock in her mouth, which side of the bed the ow slept in that now the h sleeps in…..
🙄
- book 2 has a lot of back and fourth flash backs (time jumps) where you see the MCs with other people. Ie. how the H fell in love with the ow.🙄

Like why would the readers need or want to know this?
🙄

The h is a shy, innocent girl.
Seeing so many pathetic spineless doormats in romance described this way has made “shy, innocent” heroines an instant avoid for me. Actually seeing the word shy linked with the heroine gives me hives.

It’s always exciting to discover a new-to-me-author whose writing wows from the get-go. I intend to check out B. Celeste's backlist very soon.

This author has written a very appealing, complex and emotionally-charged love story. She does an incredible job of creating beautifully flawed characters. The titles she’s chosen for the two books that make up the duet intrigued and delighted me, and the cover is perfect, too.

A broken love story with a second chance spans a decade and is told from dual perspectives by both Kinley and Corbin in an alternating timeline of past and present. Adding a level of complexity and a wider range of understanding with each character’s side of the story keeps the narrative fresh and interesting.

A high school friendship that grows into first love with plans for the future. Kinley and Corbin are caught up in life and when Corbin’s future takes him to Hollywood, Kinley is left to wait. Plans don’t always go the way they’re supposed to, and someone always gets left behind. Gone – but not forgotten.

Hollywood – Nine Years Later - Round Two and it’s complicated. Corbin is an award-winning actor, and Kinley is now a bestselling novelist. When their success overlaps and they are face-to-face once again, it’s not just the two of them any longer. There’s heart-wrenching desperation and hopelessness. But always an unforgettable love between them. The plot is riveting, complex and a deeply moving journey.

And yes, you’ll find that Corbin Callum and Kinley Thomas have heartaches by the number and a love that is impossible to deny. There’s adultery. This is where the story took a downward spiral for me. It’s not always a pretty story. I take marriage vows seriously. And I don’t think cheating is ever the answer. There’s not a triangle here in my opinion, although some may disagree. Right or wrong? You’ll have to be the judge and make your own conclusion. There are no perfects in this world – and forgiveness is a gift.

Going in you know this is a duet – so you should be prepared for the cliffhanger that awaits you. If you’re on your toes, you’ll have already figured it out before you get there, and it won’t be such a DUH moment. Still, you’ll definitely be greedy to get your hands on the second book as fast as possible to find out how this all plays out. I am glad that I waited to read the first book just a couple days prior to the release of the finale on January 28th. Otherwise, I would be one miserable reader.

I went into this book fully knowing there was going to be cheating in it. It’s why I jumped on it. What I wasn’t expecting was for me not to love the main character Corbin.
It made it hard for me to loose myself in this book.
His reasoning why he never contacted Kinley after he left was something I would never forgive or give a second chance to.

I’m 50% into this book and I still don’t like him. I need to feel something. And I don’t. He’s selfish. Only thinks about himself. And I feel bad because Kinley is fighting to stay away. But I can see she misses the old Corbin. And she’s mixing the two together. I can see already she’s the one that’s going to get burned in this whole little affair.

When Corbin and Kinley first had sex all I kept thinking was there was no way I would feel comfortable having sex with him. There is just too much baggage to fully let myself go. I would regret it. Knowing I swept all my feeling aside to just be with him.

And sure enough... nearing the end of this book. I wasn’t feeling them as a couple. Corbin only though about him self past and present. Kinley did what we all do with our first loves. We overlooked everything. We came up with reasons why he couldn’t come through with their promise. We slowly changed who we were to keep this other person in our lives.

I just wasn’t enjoying it. Had Corbin's reasons why he never came back or contacted Kinley once he made her that promise to come back was different. Maybe I would’ve felt them as a couple better. But I just couldn’t stand Corbin.

The ending grabbed me. I want to see how this whole love affair ends for them. Because so far... even to the very end.... Corbin hasn’t made any sacrifices. He’s living his life like nothing. And that doesn’t sit well with me.

Have I been living under a rock? I mean, that’s the only explanation I can possibly think of for not reading B. Celeste before now. It’s a fact though, that from here on out I’ll be reading anything she writes.

There’s something about first love that just tugs at my heart, especially when it’s experienced at a young age. I loved that we got chapters from the past in this book. Reading about how Kinley and Corbin fell in love as teenagers was both heartwarming and painful, but so real. They both have dreams, Corbin’s is to become an actor and Kinley’s is to become an author. But once those dreams come true and take you away from each other though, what happens next? Can love survive, or not?

It’s been years since Kinley and Corbin have seen each other. Both accomplishing what they set out to do when they were younger. The once inseparable duo are now complete strangers. And things will most definitely get complicated now that Kinley’s book is being turned into a movie, and Corbin is one of the actors that’ll be bringing her work to life. And while working together memories from long ago resurface and undoubtedly also the what if’s.

Where the Little Birds Go punched me right in the feels. Kinley and Corbin’s story is anything but easy. It’s raw, but also beautiful. The story between these two had me feeling everything. EVERY. SINGLE. EMOTION. I need the next book—I can’t wait to see where Kinley and Corbin’s story goes after that ending.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

You’d think I would get used to Barbara slaying my freaking soul with her writing.. but NOPE. Here I am. Suffering alone. Needing book two because I won’t be able to think about anything else except WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!

This story is one of those books that leave your heart hurting. There is so much pain and heartbreak in Kinley and Corbin’s story. But there was happiness and that’s what makes it Hurt so much more. There was soooo much happiness and love.

Once childhood sweethearts, now complete strangers. Kind of. Do they still know each other after so many years?

Kinley is now a famous, published writer and Corbin is the actor that is going to maker her work come to life.

I can not wait to see where Kinley and Corbins story goes after that ending. This book was so raw and beautiful. Broken and bruised. The characters have grown and flourished but not together like it should’ve been.

ONCE AGAIN, BARBARA WRECKED ME.

Her books grab me by the throat and don’t let go until the very last page, Where the Little Birds Go was no different.

You guessed it, Corbin.

❝𝐷𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑝𝑖𝑑, 𝐿𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝐵𝑖𝑟𝑑. 𝐷𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢’𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒𝑒𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡?” 𝐴 ℎ𝑢𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑙𝑎𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑏𝑢𝑏𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑚𝑒 𝑎𝑠 𝐼 𝑚𝑒𝑒𝑡 ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑔𝑎𝑧𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑜𝑛. “𝐼’𝑚 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑛𝑒, 𝐶𝑜𝑟𝑏𝑖𝑛. 𝑀𝑎𝑦𝑏𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑎𝑠𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑤𝑖𝑓𝑒.❞
The love, the heartbreak, the anger, the absolute turmoil. I don’t know how Celeste does it but I felt EVERYTHING these characters went through. It took me 3 days to actually write a real review because I had to get my thoughts together, now that I have… I still don’t know what to say to convince you to read this one. I know a lot of people don’t like cheating in books… I get it. But I urge you to give this one a chance.

If you enjoy angsty romances, then you aren’t going to want to miss this emotional and heartwrenching story.

❝𝐼 𝑡𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝑚𝑦𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐾𝑖𝑛𝑙𝑒𝑦. 𝐵𝑢𝑡 𝐼’𝑚 𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓𝑖𝑠ℎ 𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑐ℎ. 𝐴 𝑙𝑖𝑎𝑟. 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑒.❞

💙 (𝑯) 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒐: Corbin Callum, I really want to hate Corbin. He not only left Kinley behind once he made it big… but now he’s married and still pursuing her. But everything is not as it seems in Corbin’s life and I believe him when he says he’s still in love with Kinley. But after that cliffhanger ending… seeing what Corbin does next is either going to make me love him or hate him. *FINGERS CROSSED*

❤️ (𝒉) 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒆: Kinley Thomas, my heart hurts for Kinley. In every scene, I can see just how much she still loves Corbin and how hard working on set with him really is for her. Especially knowing that even if he still wants her, she’s not his anymore and he’s not hers. *SIGH* I am really, really hoping for a happy ending for these two.
❝𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑦’𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠, 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑𝑛’𝑡 𝑏𝑒.❞

🔥🔥🔥 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓: This one is more of a slow burn, the couple met as young teens and once they meet up again… there are obviously certain aspects of their lives that keep them from jumping into things headfirst. BUT… there is definitely steam, just wait for it…

2.5. this book was just not really for me. i have the same issues with this book that i had with the truth about heartbreak , which is the whole guy being taken thing and the fact that the conflict could easily be solved if the guy wasn't being so dumb. it was quick and i definitely didn't hate it, but i'm not going to bother with the sequel.

Where The Birds Go is the first book in B. Celeste new romance series that follows Kinley and Corbin through their high school heartbreak turned Hollywood affair they find themselves in. When bestselling author Kinley Thomas gets the deal of a lifetime to see her book turned into a movie, the last person she expects to be cast as the leading role is Corbin Callum. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After years of living the dreams that tore them apart, Hollywood will soon force them back together. Because before Corbin became America's biggest star, he was first Kinley's biggest mistake. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Once upon a time, I was his. Before the fame. Before the money. Before her. For a long time, I accepted that we’d never see each other again. But here we are. He meets my eyes and grins. “Hey, Little Bird.”

@authorbceleste absolutely killed it with this one. I swear her books just keep getting better. The way she is able to write her characters with such emotional depth and relatability is a true talent. I love that you don’t always like the characters actions throughout the story but you can definitely understand them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Where the Little Birds Go and cannot wait to get my hands on Where the little Birds Are.

*** 4 Little Bird Stars ***

Where Little Birds Go by B. Celeste is a gripping second chance love story. Nothing is ever black and white, set and stone. Life is hard, and you have to follow your own path. Corbin Callum & Kinley Thomas were the IT couple back in the day, Corbin was the love of Kinley's life . . . until one day everything changed. One promise, that shattered both their hearts.

When he kisses me, it’s cemented.
We’re going to hell.

Years pass and Corbin is an Hollywood heartthrob, and Kinley became a best selling author. She even gets a movie deal! What she least expects is for her first love to come waltzing back into her life. Corbin is cast as the main lead. . .

Mistakes are made, and history seems to be on repeat. But will their love conquer all?

“We’ll keep making the same mistakes because we never want to learn.”

Where the Little Birds Go ends on a bombshell of a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see what happens next with these love birds.

I'm not really sure what to say about this book because there is so much left to learn in the second book. I will tell you that I enjoyed it a lot.
The story is told between the past and the present. I feel like we got to know a lot about Kinley in the past, but I wasn't sure that I felt like I knew her in the present. And I feel like I know more about Corbin in the present, than we did in the past. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but an observation that I was left with. I like how all the pieces are strewn throughout the book from the past and the present and we're just waiting to stitch it all together, which is what has me so curious for the conclusion of the duet. The story is second-chance, forbidden, friends to lovers and all the good things. So, I guess my review will have more to come when I get my hands on Where the Little Birds Are.

Well-written, but unfortunately not my cup of tea.

I couldn't stand the hero, and his cheating with the heroine wasn't the biggest issue for me. His smug character was annoying and because of that I couldn't care less about their romance. No, I wanted a better man for Kinley and I was really happy, that she followed her dreams, even though he broke her heart.

I don't know, if I'll read the second book/ending to their story. Probably not.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

“You always chose yourself, even when you made pretty promises. They were just words and I always knew it. It was my fault for falling for them.”

The Little Bird Duet is a NA/YA second chance Hollywood romance that is told from duel POVs.

I really enjoyed this duet! It had its swoon worthy moments mixed in with a little drama and heartbreak. I loved the development of Corbin and Kinley’s relationship throughout both books and how they grew as individuals. I recommend this read to anyone who loves a heartbreaking but sweet romance.

“...We can’t start the next chapter if we keep re-reading the last one.”

Please note: This duet does contain content that some readers may consider as cheating.

I’ve read almost every single one of B.Celeste’s books because I LOVE sad romance books and I think this author portrays it really well. Yes, I did enjoy this book, but no this didn’t meet my expectations.

This book pretty much hit everything I dislike in the contemporary romance genre: extreme angst and melodrama; unreasonable jealousy, including hitting someone for being interested in the heroine; unrealistic plot; cheesy dialogue and let’s not forget the cheating!

B. Celeste once again has written amazing characters with amazing chemistry. Her writing keeps getting better and better with each book. She also knows how to take you on a rollercoaster ride of angst, heartbreak, longing, love, and every emotion in between.

This one was angsty and had me all up in my feels. I felt every single emotion in there. The love and loss and broken promises.

This was such an amazing read.

B.Celeste never ceases to amaze me when it comes to her writing. All of her books are part of my top favorites of 2019, and she has proven her talent and ability to bring real, emotion filled stories to the indie romance world. I always know that when I pick up one of her books, I need to have a pre planned few hours of free time, because I know that once I pick one of her stories up, I will be unable to put it down, until that 100% marker on my kindle is hit.

Where the Little Birds Go was no different. If I am being completely honest, Hollywood Romance just isn't normally my cup of tea. I have found in the past that it is unable to hold my attention, and it isn't a genre I would normally pick up. B.Celeste completely transformed the genre for me when I picked up the start to this duet. Kinley and Corbin are so real. You can feel their emotions pour from the page. You get a taste of the past and the present, and you witness the hurt, the angst, &the love that is never ending.

I have always admired B.Celeste's ability to bring these stories to life, just with the little details. She writes in a way that really has me able to vividly picture the characters, the settings, their faces while enduring the emotion's. Her stories carry a lot of emotion, but at the end, it is always worth it. You feel like you lived within those pages.

Where the Little Birds Go details a second chance romance, of two people who still aren't over each other, despite the time and anger that held them apart. There is infidelity, and while I know some readers don't like cheating, this infidelity is needed. It is an important part to this story, and it wouldn't be the same story if it wasn't included.

I have already read Where the Little Birds Go twice, because I was looking for favorite quotes one day, and got sucked right back in. It truly is a story that you won't be able to put down.
So, if you are considering starting this duet, I absolutely recommend giving it a chance. I feel strongly that you will not be disappointed. &While yes, this is a duet, and there is a cliffhanger, it is worth the read, and worth the short wait until book 2 will release. Luckily, book 2 of the duet will be going live on Amazon on January 29th! So, the wait is minimal, and the story is 100%worth that wait.

Give the start of the Little Bird Duet the chance it deserves. If I could, I would give it more than 5 stars!

I have no idea why I am constantly surprised by the power of B Celeste's words with each new release! After reading quite a few of her books, you'd think I'd know by now that her words have the power to silence my own words and cause my emotions to flow wildly. Yet, she does it. She still kills me with her words and I still end each book shocked by the emotions seeping from me. I'll say this...I hope it always stays this way. She writes the type of books that I love. No matter who the heroine or hero is...no matter the plot theme; they feel like some of the realest books that I've ever read. Sure, every now and then I love the romances that seem perfect from start to finish; h meets H falls madly in love and they ride off into the sunset together. Those are never the books that stick with me. They are never the ones that sink deep into my soul and create a lasting mark that means I'll always remember that book and how it made me feel while reading it.

The love portrayed in this book isn't perfect. It's heartbreaking and real. Dreaming together and pushing the person you love to accomplish their dreams is what you're supposed to do with the love of your life....RIGHT? What happens when those dreams take you away from each other though; are you supposed to give up and just walk away or do you dive right back in and fight? In a world where people give up one or the other because they don't know how to have them both or if they even can. So they make a choice, thinking what they chose is the best one...but what if it's not.
The story between these two had me feeling everything! EVERY SINGLE EMOTION!

As I was reading this book, I could feel every word pouring into my heart and making itself at home there. Her words have a way of pulling you in and making you feel as if you're part of their world. Like you're a random person walking down a busy street, sitting in a lobby or clearing dishes while watching a scene wrap up right in front of your face. I had to take breaks to adult more than I would have liked but I made sure every 5 minutes I had free; I immediately immersed myself back into this world.
I hung onto every single word and when I hit the last page....I took a deep breath and logged another FAVORITE read into my mind.

I can't wait for you all to meet Kinley & Corbin.

Well...I didn’t really like this read.

1. I did like the flashback scenes- they were the strongest chapters in this book.

2. Kinley. Oy vey. Another female protagonist whose whole life - as it’s written- revolves around a guy. A not so great guy at that. And I find it very hard to believe that a grown ass woman would still be literally heartbroken over a teenage relationship...let alone a relationship that happened over a decade ago for a few months and they haven’t seen each other since. It’s just not believable! Awkward? Yes. Some lingering attraction? Sure. But to be still full blown in love with the guy after he left you ten years back? On top of not knowing him at all as an adult? Nope. Don’t believe it. It also shows that Kinley has done zero character growth since she was a child. I also don’t believe she’d be that angry? It was a childhood relationship that last a few months!!! Id be a tad bit miffed and wanting to know answers, sure! But the guy is married and she’s doing pretty well on her own...which brings me to my next point:

3) Cheating ahoy!! Good grief these two are just...ugh. Corbin is a piece of work let me tell you. HE HAS A WIFE and for every short scene we get with her, she seems to be trying to keep their marriage afloat? Like he’s desperately trying to make people believe that they are estranged when they’re not? And Kinley just blindly accepts this? She doesn’t know him despite both of them trying to convince others that they know each other because hey know surface things about one another from ten years ago. Like...???????? And what exactly has Corbin done to show he’s changed and willing to not be selfish if they get back together? Took her to get some Motrin ? Lmao. These two are a MESS. None of what they are doing as adults is cute.

4) Of course this toxic ass relationship ends with a non planned pregnancy while he’s still married to someone else. Of course. SMH.

description

Where the Little Birds Go is the first book in the Little Bird Duet and it offers readers an insight look into the complicated past and present of Kinley Thomas and Corbin Callum. Their love began to blossom back in high school, and as the years passed them by they lost touch but neither one of them ever stopped loving one another. Their story was definitely controversial, one made for the headlines...I mean it is a HOLLYWOOD scandal after all. As their love affair grows into something more, neither one of them could have truly known the pain that was about to destroy them all over again. Will these two ever get their happily ever after or are they destined to never be...

B. Celeste is an author who enjoys toying with her readers heartstrings. She is what I like to call an evil woman who pretends to be all sweet and innocent, but the moment you turn your back on her she STRIKES and suddenly you find yourself overwhelmingly flooded with emotions. The kind of emotions that you never knew you could experience all at the same time. I knew going in that this story was going to end in a cliffhanger, but I NEVER anticipated how insane the wait was going to make me. I am in deep agony over this wait and I need the conclusion to this duet, like you know...YESTERDAY!
