Kenorian Warriors #1

Alien Rogue's Captive

Rate this book
BROOKE

What. The. Hell. I've just been arrested on the streets of LA by a huge muscled alien warrior. For murder—that I'm supposed to commit next month. On another planet.

And let's just say these alien bastards have a sick idea how a human female is supposed to pay her debt to society.

But my captor isn't like the rest, he's from a nearly-extinct warrior race. He protects me. He helps me escape.

No wait, he is just like the rest. He's taken me for his own. He says I'm his fated mate... And we all know what that means. I'll play along if it means I can get back to Earth.

Except it's not that long before I realize that if this is a game, I'm about to lose my heart...

ANAX

My role in society is to find, arrest and capture criminals across the galaxy.

I have a hard time believing that this little human female is dangerous, but she is. She's a murderer and it's my job to bring her to justice.

But when she's sentenced to the most shameful, debasing punishments on the planet, I know I have to save her. Not because she's innocent—because she's my mate.

Could she really be my Bonded Mate our old legends spoke of? It seems hard to believe, but one things for sure. I will claim her. I just need to be patient... Even if patience is not one of my virtues...

... And even if it means breaking every single law I've sworn to uphold.

Fun read with a possessive hero, the main characters story in finished (happily for me) but this is one book where the main story/conflict isn't finished so it will be interesting to see how this all ends. I also really liked how this storyline was different, I've never read a book with this idea. Yes the alien part isn't new but I really loved the twist in this story.

OHHHHHH YASSSSSSS!!!!!

I am SCREAMING!! In happiness, that is!! Another awesome and epic series kick off from the queen of sci fi romance!

I’ve devoured all of Viki storms books, and I’m insanely INFATUATED with their fierce and dominant warrior heroes and courageous, proud and incredible heroines set against amazing plots and incredible world building. This one is another winner.

Brooke is a city girl, all sharp edges, slogging thru the corporate grind, distrustful and living a gray life when out of the blue a handsome stranger immobilizes her and kidnaps her off the street. And tells her that she’s being arrested for the crime of murder. That she will be committing in the future. And she is going to be transferred off planet to be sentenced.

Anax is a born warrior of a race of aliens called the kenorians. But ever since his planet was obliterated, he and the handful of remaining survivors are living as mercenaries/bounty hunters/errand boys for the technologically superior Pharusians (i might’ve misspelled that). This latest job is to collect a criminal for sentencing and processing.

It’s just another job and he goes along with it, even tho he finds the modes of Justice employed by the pharusians to be despicable. And when he begins to feel rage at the thought of his little earth female being brutalized, when his feelings continue to grow and he realizes this is his bonded mate, he knows he will do anything to keep her safe. Even sacrifice his entire life for her.

Anax’s steely-eyed determination to keep his mate safe, to show her that she is meant to be with him made me swoon. I loved his sternness and his willingness to break every law, throw his freedom away, risk imprisonment or death for her. He knew what he wanted and there was nothing more important than his mate. Anax, like any male, whether human or alien, was simple in his needs and goals: protect, worship and mate his female.

Brooke, as is typical of a female, was far more complex. She had been jerked all over the galaxy, kidnapped, sentenced to slavery, stolen, and then raced around trying to gain her freedom. It’s understandable that it took her a few minutes to understand the depth of the bond, that it wasn’t a legend but it was real. And I liked how she developed as a character. She had moments of weakness, but she recognized them—and in doing so, TRULY saw how magnificent her mate was. I thought this entire section—realizing what she has and what she’s left behind and what she has to look forward to—was beautiful and profound.

I also freakin LOOOOOOVED that Brooke was a virgin. She had been discerning and choosy with her body, not willing to treat it like a public latrine and throw it away on losers. This made their physical bonding so much more intense and powerful, as the hero claims her completely, awakens and initiates her into intimacy forging a bond that is irreplaceable. No other memories of other men heaving and grunting atop her, no other imprint of men on her soul and mind. She belongs only to the hero, and he has all of her, her body, her trust, her vulnerability, her pleasure and passion—and because of this he can cherish and treasure that pivotal moment for the rest of their lives together.

We need more heroines like this in romance.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

DNF - boring at best, cringy at worst

Interesting premise, I liked the idea of a minority report -pre cog- crime story with the alien sadistic penal system, however that is one chapter in the book then things get pretty flat or just odd. Maybe if the characters seemed to remotely like each other with some level of consistency I may have at least been invested in the mate storyline. The h is a virgin -cliche and doesn’t add to the story- but has very inauthentic reactions to the situations she is put in. I really tried to stick it out and finish this book hoping it would get better but with lines like “let me bless you with my seed” the cringe factor kept going up while the story went nowhere, so when I got to the whole “be a good little girl” and deep throat me moment at about 70% I was done.

An amazing start to new series. I was hooked from the first chapter. Brooke is on her way to work, and out of nowhere she is being followed. That is bad enough but to be caught and told you are being arrested for a murder she is suppose to commit is insane. Not to mention being hauled to another planet. Anax hates this job. But with no planet to call home, and no way of knowing how many of his kind are still alive after his planet and all occupants were destroyed, he is doing what he can. Until he can't do it. He risks it all for Brooke and he is pretty sure she is his one and only. Great book, interesting and original characters, and the ongoing backstory is dangerous and really keeps you wanting more. Brooke and Anax get their HEA, but now there is a bigger problem.

DNF

Let’s just say the writer’s ‘humor’ is not on par with mine.
And reveals itself at inappropriate moments.
And keeps popping up relentlessly.
Maybe I’m just the wrong demographic for this one. It would probably entertain middle- to high-schoolers; maybe even twenty-somethings. I am not in this age group, and found it absurd and not funny, to the point I couldn’t get to the halfway point, much less finish the thing.

This book caught my attention in the beginning, but as it went on, I got less and less invested in the characters and in the plot. Certain things were just taking too long and some plot points were more focused on then I wanted them to be. I can definitely see how some people enjoyed this book; it just wasn’t for me.

Quick good read

I loved this story from start to finish. It took me a minute to understand how you could be arrested for a crime you were going to commit. But I couldn’t put it down till it was finished

Captured

This book has intrigue and exciting chase scenes. It is non-stop action and unpredictable action, as will as some pretty hot sex scenes.

I recommend this book for anytime who logged too mix sci-fi with romance.

Great book

Why Amazon insist on 20 words for a review via kindle, I don't know. Especially when I just want to say that I really enjoyed this book.

This mating story uses the premise of arresting people before they do the crime . It's quite chaoticly campy .

Probably more of a 3.5, but I hated how they treat women. Why I know that is the purpose, it just was horrible to have to picture it.

Good plot

This book has a great plot. But the romance wasn't there for me. Don't get me wrong because there was the fated mates thing and the sex screens was alright. It was just something missing for me to make this a great book.

If you love Alpha male aliens who sinfully enjoy their human female mates, then this is the book for you. Not only is Anax an Alpha alien male, but also he is one who struggles with his basic urges to take his mate and claim her.
Brooke is the human female, who is captured as a future criminal to be taken to Phuru for sentencing. Anax is the Kenorian warrior that is charged with bringing her to the alien planet Phuru for her sentencing. Though he is attracted to her from the first moment, he does not act on it until she is before the Phuru court. As she is ready to start her long years of sentencing as a sex slave, something inside him clicks and suddenly he refuses to let her go. He decides to rescue her and escape Phuru. He comes to the realization that the attraction he feels for her is deep, the way he would feel for his arlo jzumak (soul mate). They find their way to a Kenorian settlement and seek refuge there. But this is when the fun, intrigue, and plot twist begins. It is one hell of a ride. I am super stoked Viki Storm is at it again and with a brand new series!

Brooke's a budding lawyer who is headed to work one morning when suddenly she is arrested for murder. By an alien. For a murder she's projected to commit next month! What the...???

Anax' race has been all but wiped out, and he makes his living hauling in soon-to-be criminals.

Unfortunately, Brooke turns out to be his bonded mate, and instead of being sentenced, they are on the run.

This is a good story, but some of the dangers Brooke faces are hard to read. Take a deep breath!

This feels like a series of unfortunate events that started when Anax abducted Brooks for a crime that she allegedly will commit in the future and then escapes after she was sentenced to a life of hedonistic activity. And then one thing led to another and just as things are looking up, there goes another problem. It seems like everyone is after Brooks and he as his mate is there to protect her.

Sci-fi romances are one of my favorite go to genres and I am always looking for a new one to indulge in. The blurbs may sound like other similar stories but the only way to find a very good book is to read the ones that seem interesting. Glad to say that I have found another I really enjoyed! Brooke is my kind of sassy heroine and Anax? Well if I was Brooke I would totally jump on that...gladly!

This book was the reading version of roller-coaster

I've only been on a roller-coaster ride once in my life. I didn't like the feeling, so I never rode one again. I don't mean this in the emotional way, but as literally as it can be taken. The story starts at point A:

I read to 63% and I didn’t care about anything in this book any longer. DNF

The instant mate troupe isn’t my favorite but the about face this caused in the beginning was a cheap device to get these two together.

The hero was over the top dominant and the heroine had strange reactions to things. One minute she’s scared then she’s defiant and then she’s submissive.

Good

A little too easy, but it was a fun story to read. The pacing was good, no major plot holes. There is a light cliffhanger, but the story could stand alone
