Clan Hakon #3

The Viking's Consort

The Viking's Consort is the exciting finale to The Clan Hakon Series by USA Today Bestseller Quinn Loftis.

Allete Auvray isn’t just heir to the English throne. Since marrying her beloved Viking fiancé, Jarl Torben, she’s also the new queen of his clan, fulfilling a prophecy made by the clan’s former Oracle who bespoke of a foreign bride who would lead their people and unite the Northerners. But life isn’t about courtesans and ballroom finery. It’s about leading a ferocious clan of Vikings into battle, and Allete can’t do that unless she completely becomes one of them—a shieldmaiden of Clan Hakon. With the war against her former fiancé, King Cathal, on the horizon, Allete will sacrifice everything to ensure she’s up to the task of leading her clan to victory. But will she be able to do enough to earn the respect of her sisters-in-arms?

Allete’s sister, Dayna, is in the hands of a witch, her well-being unknown. Cathal has his armies at the ready, and Allete and Torben know they don't stand a chance on their own. To make matters worse, Brant, Torben's right-hand man, and the Viking who has laid claim to Dayna's heart is holding onto his sanity by a thread—fighting the urge to go after Dayna with or without an army behind him. With everything to lose, Allete and Torben must hold onto each other as they fight to save her sister and bring Cathal down once and for all.

The Viking's Consort is the exciting finale to The Clan Hakon Series by USA Today Bestseller Quinn Loftis. Two worlds collide in this epic historical fiction centered on an undeniable chemistry that smolders against the odds. Richly written and injected with moments of humor, this action-packed romantic tale will leave readers breathless.

Hello, Readers. My name is Quinn Loftis and I am lucky enough to call myself a novelist. In 2011, I self-published my first novel, Prince of Wolves with no expectations, other than my friends and family might purchase the book out of pity. Now, several years later, with 30+ novels and counting under my belt, Prince of Wolves had been downloaded over 1 million times. Though I was hesitant at the time to submit my work to the world for their scrutiny, I'm so glad I did. It made my dream of making a living by telling stories a reality.

I'm blessed to share my household my wonderful husband of more than twenty years (who also co-writes with me on occasion), three beautiful sons, a French Bulldog, and an oversized tabby cat. I love hearing from readers, so if you have any questions about the books or my journey, don't hesitate to hit the 'Contact Quinn' in the menu above. Thank you so much for taking a chance on my books.

Just as with the first two books in the series, I really did enjoy the stories of all the main characters, but once again found myself somewhat annoyed with all the typos and grammatical errors. I think that Ms Loftis would do much better with a proof reader or a proof reading program that catches grammatical errors. As for the ending on this book, I was a bit let down after the final battle between good and evil. For instance, she mentions that Tara would have a new King who would be much more benevolent, but then we never find out just who that king would be. And during the actual battle, we see that Clan Hakon was there fighting alongside of the other 3 clans whose lands and clans were hurt by Cathal, but you don't hear about Allete and Dayna's father and his soldiers until there's a small mention at the end of the battle. And then after the battle, to go directly to the prologue and the Brant/Dayna wedding and then the very final scene between Allete, Torben, Dayna and Brant was just disappointing to not have any wrapping up of how the clans wound up after their joint battle, whether King Albriq became king of both England AND Tara, and just exactly how many of the secondary characters who were in all 3 stories survived the battle. And other than saying that all 4 of the evil characters were defeated, somewhere along the line Jarl Clagan (?), Magnus's brother just kind of got left out of the battle along with King Albriq. It's annoying enough to find that you have cliff hangers at the ends of books 1 and 2, but to kind of let the story drop some of the main antagonists and protagonists is just a tad sloppy.

I liked the series and I liked this last book but what I didn’t like was there was just so many thing left out at the end of the book. Where’s the other sister, what happened to her? Who took over the other Clan and Kingdom? Where was the father during the battle? They talked about multiple prophecies in the book what were they? Should we just assume the clans were good after that? So I felt like the book was rushed and finished at the end.

Again story line was so good, but I felt it was written in a rush. Still a good read.

"Going to war is not something that should be taken lightly. There will be lives lost. There is also a chance I will lose my life. There is nothing romantic, glorious, or rewarding about going to war. It means death."

I must say that I am saddened that this series has come to an end as I loved every single moment of this book and the previous books. The author took me on a captivating ride full of vikings, witches, first loves and sad losses. The storyline was action packed and the characters jumped straight out of the story as they were all written so vividly.

The development of the series was breathtaking and I look forward to seeing what this talented author comes out with next. I highly recommend this book and the series.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!
I read the first installment when it first came out and waited with bated breath for the final two. Storyline kept me engaged through all three books and really enjoyed the characters - felt as if I was part of the scene that was being played out! A range of emotions and scenarios, jovial bickering and full on action! Happy to ready further books by this author.

Two Sisters Double Trouble

Witches, Vikings, Kings and Princesses make for a great adventure. Dana is by far my favorite character. Though Gisselle is a close second. Loved the ending! Great way to close up the series.

I hate that Myra had to die too. I wanted more of Brant and Dayna before it ended too. Other than that, I thought the book was great.

*4.5 Stars*

I really love these characters. I love how funny, sassy and sarcastic they all are, but I especially love Dayna because she has such a foul mouth that you can't help but smile and shake your head at the things she says. And I feel like, because she talks so much, her enemies can't help but admire her a bit.

I love how Brant refused to travel to Alette and Dayna's dad to tell him about Dayna, and decided to go search for her instead, although I don't know how good a decision it was when he was captured. But at least they were together. And I loved how they got married in the end, because they deserved to get a happy ending.

I found Alette's powers interesting because she was taught to use the elements but then not in other instances. But I will say that her healing ability truly helped them win the war. But that was also because Freya, the badass that she is, had trained all the ladies well. But I'm so glad that King Cathal is now dead and no one need to worry about him anymore.
And now all that's left to worry about is that both Alette/Torben and Dayna/Brant is now going to be parents. And that I would be so ecstatic to read about.
Mostly because if it's a girl, it would be so much fun.

Loved the first 2 books, I started this one with excitement and the story started great. As I got to the middle of the book I thought surely there will be another book. I was absolutely entralled with the plot and characters and ready to take on the world with them. As the end of the book drew closer I thought surely it cant end like this. With a 3 book build the fight must be phenomenal. Unfortunately I was incorrect. The ending came upon quickly and was equally so over. I finished the book with questions on things that had never been explained and wondering why the big final battle was only mere pages. This book would've been a 5 star rated had there not been so many grammatical errors and the ending not been so rushed.

4.5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
The Clan Hakon Series was an absolute joy!
The conclusion of this series was well worth the wait. I loved hearing from these beloved characters again. In book three, Quinn Loftis, gives you a little bit of everything from hysterical characters that will have you laughing out loud to breath holding battle scenes between evil witches and Vikings. My 4.5 rating is due to the somewhat predictable scenes, it felt a little too cheesy at times, and seemed rushed in the end. However, overall The Vikings Consort delivered for me and ended the way I had hoped it would.
If you’re looking for a highly entertaining, funny, and easy read, I would highly recommend this series. 💕

I enjoyed the book lots of unanswered questions. No mention of a new king for Tara .No mention of the king and his departure nor any mention of the other clans was there a victory celebration .Do the clans become one or go back to before do they prosper .Does Allete learn more about her magic did she gain more power after the battle the witches died was it passed on or it just vanished. Is there a merge of Clans .What happens with Thomas .I feel after the battle there should of been a meeting to tell what happened to Dayna and Clay and Brant during there capture .I love your books but lots of errors with spelling and grammar .

I read the first two books in this series, but my library didn’t have the third and I had to submit a special request for them to acquire it.

By the time they did and I was able to read it, I was already so removed from the story that I struggled to get back into it.

Most likely, this is not a reflection of the book itself or the author, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the first two. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Read book 1 and if you enjoy it, keep going, just work ahead and make sure if you’re borrowing from the library that they have all 3 before you get started.

I liked to read this serie!

But the end of this book feels rushed. Its a good ending but some more about Dayna and Brant for example would be nice. Or Freya and Thomas. What does Dayna think about her new home? How does she like being trained for shieldmaiden? Is Thomas staying with them in Ravenscar? What about the development of the abillity's of Alette? Are the clans keeping in touch? What happens in Tara? Who is going to be the new king? What about Lizzy? So many questions left....

Reminded me of Game of Thrones........

Witches, sorcery, medieval Vikings, kings and queens, evil vs good. This third book in this series is fast paced and full of drama an laughs from princess Dayna, she's a little too smart mouthed for my liking but does make this storyline comical at times.

Wonderfully written

A truly inviting adventure, full of love, fighting, boats and magic. Princess number two is going to be the death of him. The first chapter will capture the inner part of you and keep your attention till the last laugh. I recommend this Author for you, she is just what you need.

Loved this series

Such a fun story this was. Combining the Viking Warriors and English Princesses. It lured me in and read all 3 within a few days. I love my Viking stories but this was a fun twist to the violence of the usual Viking story. The author can describe things in a way not all authors can. First time I had ever read a book by Quinn. Won't be the last I hope!

Great

It was a good finale to the series. It wrapped up all the story lines and had a happily ever after, which I enjoy. It did take me a little bit to get into the book, I guess the anticipation and build up to the inevitable battle I was a little much for me.

Was the editing bad? Yes. Was there a lot of strange references to cats? Yea. Do I never want to see the phrase “horny kitty” every again? Also yes. All of that aside, I really did enjoy this series.
