Frat House Confessions #2

Frat House Confessions: Wes

Rate this book
She wants more than just his forgiveness…

Trixie’s not ashamed of the exposé she wrote for the college newspaper last year. She’s a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes to get the story, even if it meant lying to a friend to get the inside scoop.
Still, every time she sees Wes, she regrets the loss of someone she really enjoyed spending time with. Not one for labels, or someone who puts limitations on attraction, Trixie can’t deny the pull she feels toward Wes when they cross paths again.

He's willing to do whatever it takes to change her perception of him...

Wes has always been the odd man out. Different than his brothers, he was always more comfortable playing video games or enjoying solitary moments in the pool.

Although he never expected someone as sexy as Trixie to fall for an inexperienced guy like him, he also never expected her betrayal. Now that he has a second chance, can he get her to see him as more than the nice guy she duped?

A year has passed, but anger and regret still linger. Can Wes and Trixie agree to put the past behind them and move forward, or will late night confessions prove to be more than they can forgive and forget?

Review by Trinette Dungee

A year ago, Wes and Trixie met and entered into an arrangement for Trixie to be his “project” for a competition for his Fraternity. During that time, they became friends…or so Wes thought until he learns of her betrayal by writing an article in the school paper bringing his Fraternity under fire.
Trixie stands by everything she wrote but she’s struggling with how she betrayed Wes and hurting from the loss of his friendship. Wes won’t even acknowledge her if he’s in her presence, but when Wes comes to her defense during a confrontation the door is suddenly open for Trixie to make amends and when Wes shows a real interest in her she might even be able to act on the attraction she has for him.

Wes is the classic middle child. While he loves his brothers and is happy the three of them are together at school and away from their parents, he’s still struggling to find out who he is, and it doesn’t help that he’s still dealing with the backlash from a betrayal from the girl he considered a friend.

This book was just what I needed. I’ve been in such a slump! I’ve struggled with the last few books I’ve read, and my audios haven’t been leaving me satisfied; but Wes gave me the kick start I needed! I really loved how these characters were written.

I enjoyed Wes! He was inexperienced and somewhat innocent, and he embraced it. What I really liked was that he stayed that way throughout the book to a certain extent. He didn’t morph into this alpha guy once he got a little lovin’ under his belt. He was a nice guy. He wasn’t an ass who suddenly turned into a nice guy. He was a nice guy, a nice guy with flaws; flaws that he owned. With a character with as much uncertainty as who he was, there were so may different ways his character could have been written and loved the direction it went.

Although Trixie was kind of suspect in the las book, I knew I would like her. She was so spunky! One of my favorite parts was when she stood up to Wes’ mom; it had me mentally standing up throwing an arm in the air saying “Yeah, take that lady!” What I liked about how Trixie was written, her vulnerability showed. I was very happy that her sexuality wasn’t a major issue in this book. I’ve read books where the characters sexuality seems to become almost a character in the storyline.

I was also very happy with Trixie’s acceptance of how her actions in writing the article impacted so many people. It answered some questions I had from Ridge’s book as to if Crush would make any more appearances…there was just something about that whole situation that made me think we hadn’t seen the end of him.

There was a lot of accountability in this book. I don’t know if that was intentional but I definitely liked it.

Another great read from Bethany Lopez.

The next book in line is Brody’s story, Wes and Ridge’s younger brother. There’s an except that the end of Wes for Brody, but that’s too much like a cliffhanger to me so I didn’t read but I’m hoping Emily (who happens to be Crush’s younger sister), pops up in it. Some about the little banter in this book between them makes me think there’s a budding romance in the works.

I wouldn’t recommend reading this book before reading Ridge’s story, the book in Frat House Confessions. You’ll get the whole background of Wes and Trixie. I’d also recommend reading Indelible and Three Sisters Catering which all take place before Ridge’s story.

I mentioned the reappearance of Crush so I’m hoping there’s a book for him as well, but the person I’m most intrigued about is Papi, I’m really intrigued by what his story could be.

I loved the Lucifer reference…I am a huge fan. When I first read about Trixie in Ridge’s story I remember thinking “hmmm, Trixie, that’s different. The only other Trixie that comes to mind is Decker’s daughter on Lucifer”. So, I must ask Bethany….is that where the name came from?

Frat House Confessions: Wes is the second book in the Frat House Confessions series by Bethany Lopez and it can be read as stand-alone.

I am a fan of Bethany Lopez and I loved Ridge's book, but I couldn't get into this one. From the early chapters, I realized that I was not a fan of Wes and Trixie. I liked them a lot in the first book, but for some reason, something wasn't clicking for me in their story. To make things even worse, I found the whole angst part to be unnecessary and over the top. The characters could have used it to develop a little bit, but whatever development happened was of the pages. At least that's how I felt. I did not like the book and I was never able to get into the story, which is unfortunate because I like the author and I had high expectations for the book. On the one bright side of things, I was happy to not have another manwhore as the hero. Trixie had more experience than Wes. Since Lucifer (the show) was mentioned in this book should I believe that Trixie's name wasn't so random?

Frat House Confessions: Wes
Frat House Confessions, Book 2
By: Bethany Lopez
Narrated by: Dryw McArthur, Penelope Rose

Trixie was on a mission, and after succeeding in her expose, she did find regret for the way things ended with Wes. Wes is still hurt and with a push by his frat brothers, decides to start dating Trixie, only to use her as she did him. But things are never that easy, are they? This is a fun, easy listen, and brings out all the qualities I enjoy in a Bethany Lopez listen. It includes great characters. Trixie is quite the girl. Ambitious with a conscience. She has learned a hard lesson. Wes is sweet. His inexperience and true feelings make him lovable. Add in his brothers and some others we meet in the first story and the book is easy to follow, has love, forgiveness, redemption all sending warmth to our heart. I enjoyed this one, and now will go back to listen to the first of this series!

Dryw McArthur & Penelope Rose are a great pick for the narrators of this book. Each have great voices and they fit the new adult genre perfectly. I enjoyed their performance.

It's moments like these I really appreciate KU. As soon as I put down Ridges book I automatically jumped on over and grabbed Wes's story. And even though I had a fairly good idea of what I was getting into I enjoyed the writing and the story.

I already knew Wes was the sensitive one of the brothers and I knew what Trixie had done to him. But I was really keen to see how they were going to get over all that. And to see what they were going to be dealing with when it came to the frat.

I really enjoyed the story and I liked that there was a fair bit of depth in them getting together. And I'm glad we got heaps of Ridge and Karrie and the brothers relationship getting even stronger. And I am excited to read Emma and Brody's book and hopefully get a HEA for Pappi.

But since that's forever away I guess I will go stalk the sisters books.

This is book 2 in the series. We have met Wes and Trixie as part of Ridge's story. And their time together did not end on a good note. This book picks up in the next school year. Baby brother Brody has joined the guys in Delta house this year. Most of this story takes place away from the fraternity.

Wes and Trixie had lots of chemistry last year but the stars were not aligned for these two. Now, both are feeling like they need to make amends. This one is a bit of a slow burn to trust again. But once the two of them put the past behind, it's fast forward.

I liked that Wes was trying to be mister cool and much more experienced than he actually was. I really liked that Trixie did not care about that at all. She like him for who he was.

Interesting side stories in this one. Really looking forward to Brody's story. Wished we saw more of their sisters this time. Maybe next book.

Great addition to the series.

I enjoyed Wes & Trixie's story. I hadn't read the first book, but this worked really well as a standalone, as I wasn't left out in the rain on anything. They had super sweet chemistry, some sexy times, and some problems they had to work through, but it had a wonderful ending. I liked Ridge & Brody, and honestly every side character in here had a place and a function, so the cast felt well-rounded without being bogged down. All in all a great little college romance I was happy to read!

This is such a fun series! If you’re looking for quick reads that have just enough sexiness, angst, and good times these books are for you. They don’t have to be read in any order and if you haven’t read Ridge you can totally start here then I highly recommend going back to Ridge ;-)

Wes is such a keeper. A truly good guy deep in his heart. It was refreshing to see a Hero who wasn’t a man whore and concerned for the girl rather than just getting his. I wish there were more guys like him!

Wes (Frat House Confessions #2) was a good read by Bethany Lopez. Trixie was proud of the expose she wrote for the college newspaper last year. She does regret lying to a friend in order to get the inside scoop. She really enjoyed the time that she spent with Wes but regrets the fact that she had to lie to him. They cross paths again and they can't deny the feelings they have for each other. I really enjoyed reading Wes and Trixie's story and can't wait to read more by the author.

The Frat House Confessions series is set in the collegiate world and is focused on the three Temple brothers with a past that has kept them from bonding completely because of their father’s abuse and their mother’s indifference. After reading the previous book in this series I was immediately drawn to the remaining two brothers and looked forward to them taking center stage. The wait thankfully wasn’t too long though as we now get to learn more about the truly good and kind-hearted middle brother Wes. His second chance with Trixie, the young woman who lied to him to get her newspaper story published, may start out full of anger but soon turns sensual in a romance that utterly charmed me.

Wes Temple is the proverbial good boy, one who wants to grow closer to his brothers after a childhood full of emotional and physical abuse. With all of them in college now he actually has the chance to make that happen while also giving him the chance to learn more about himself. He starts out feeling hurt because of Trixie’s lies to him and it has him wanting to find his place in the world without being tied to his brothers which makes for an empowering journey to HEA. Wes is a delicious book boyfriend, kind-hearted, sweet, and protective. There’s a vibe of naïveté surrounding him too, showing him to be a young man with very little experience. It’s the opposite of his brothers who say and do exactly what’s needed to get the girl. I found Wes to be a refreshing hero, one with tiny flaws that made me like him all the more. He has a tender heart too, one that’s been hurt by Trixie’s lies as he felt a deep connection to her that he wants to rediscover,,,as soon as he can put his bruised feelings behind him. It all makes for a rocky journey to HEA as Trixie’s expose caused lots of problems, angered a lot of people, and it’s made things just as hard for Wes. Wes though is strong on loyalty and as the story progresses a strong and supportive side to him emerges that has them taking yet one more step closer to a second chance with Trixie.

Trixie’s the opposite to Wes in many ways as she’s strong-willed, decisive in her actions, with an air of doing what she thinks is right despite the fall-out. She’s self-assured too, more confident than Wes, and it’s these differences that makes them an immensely appealing couple. Since her expose came out a year ago Trixie’s felt a bit guilty and lonely when it comes to Wes, though she knows it was a story that needed to be told. She enjoyed their time together and hasn’t found anyone since who comes close to making her feel as fulfilled as he did. While watching their push and pull play out I took on a cheerleader role and was rooting for them every step of the way as I found their pairing both sweet and sexy. Once they make their way back to each other doesn’t mean their story’s over though as there’s still lots of anger within the frat, and without, for them to deal with. Though early on I hated Trixie for hurting Wes the way she did, I couldn’t have been prouder than when she stood up to Wes’ mother when the woman again tried to tear him down. It was a Grand Gesture that had me fully supporting their pairing while warming my heart.

Though this story can stand strongly on its own I definitely think that it’s a much stronger story after reading Ridge’s story where we first meet Wes and Trixie. We see them growing closer to one another and see the guilt surrounding Trixie from one page to the next while getting just a glimpse of the fall-out of her expose. Trixie and Wes are a delightful pairing with roles that are a bit unique courtesy of a naive and inexperienced hero and a strong and confident heroine. It was a crackling connection that I can still picture in my head today. Surrounding this likable main couple is a cast of equally entertaining secondary characters. I thoroughly enjoyed Trixie’s roommates and their charming romance while I was equally overjoyed to see more about Wes’ brothers Ridge and Brody. The closeness of the brothers jumped off the page and warmed my heart for the unconditional support they give each other along with the playfulness that permeates their times together. I was also drawn to fellow frat member Papi, and his words of wisdom, and I look forward to learning more about the former seminary student. Fans of the New Adult genre will find this a delightful read with realistic and appealing main characters whose flaws have you cheering them on from the first page to the last.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

I read the first book in this series, Frat House Confessions: Ridge, earlier in the year and totally fell in love with the story so I knew that this was a series that I was going to go gaga over. I couldn't wait for the second book to come out.

This book didn't wow me as much as the first book. My review is going to sound really critical, but I promise that this is a book that I enjoyed. I merely think that it has some areas for improvement.

Let's start out with my all-time favorite thing about the book: the characters. I thought that the characters were more fleshed out in the first book, but the way that Lopez writes the relationships between her characters is an all-time favorite for me. She writes the relationships so seamlessly. The reader wants to crawl into the book and sink into these characters' lives. I felt that the character development for Wes was adequate. We did learn more about him in the previous book so there was something to build off of, but I felt that Trixie's character development was minuscule. We get a little bit of backstory to her, but there could have been more. I didn't feel as connected to her as I did to Karrie in the first book.

The plot of the story was good but felt a little lacking in areas. If I compared the book to a pot roast then this book would have the meat of the story down but lacks the potatoes and veggies that round it out. If that makes sense? The foundation is definitely there and it definitely works, but it felt like the bare bones of a story. For instance, the conflicts in the story could have been heightened. They felt like they were rectified too quickly and without much effort. Other than that I felt that more details and scenes could have made the story better. So basically, the story is good it just needs to be fattened up a bit.

I felt that Trixie and Wes were really perfect for each other. I would have liked for them to ease into their relationship a little slower though. It felt too fast. The entire pacing of the story felt a little too fast for my liking, to be honest. I liked how their personalities played off the other though. I actually loved their personalities separately and thought that their pairing was perfect.

Overall, this was a great story that I enjoyed very much but I thought that there could have been more to it. Bethany Lopez has a talent with writing characters that you want to insert into your own life so I will definitely be continuing this series and anything else that she writes. I am definitely a fan of her storytelling and Brody's story, book three in this series, cannot come fast enough for me!

Loved this!!

Wes is the adorable, middle Temple brother. We got a taste of him in Ridge’s book and I couldn’t wait for his story!

I loved watching his confidence grow, along with his alpha-ness, throughout this book. Not only did Wes grow, Trixie did as well. Such a bad ass, sharp around the edges, but eventually turning a bit softer, and redeeming herself along the way.

I enjoyed watching these two get closer and their relationship get stronger. Was there more drama at the frat house? Yep! And it had me glued to the pages until the very end.

We also get to see more of the other two brothers, Ridge & Brody. Ridge is still awesome and Brody’s book needs to hurry up and get in my hands. Ms. Lopez set it up nicely and made me eager for his story.

If you loved Ridge’s book, you’ll want to read this one.

UPDATE:
May 10, 2021: I just finished the audiobook of this and loved it! I was easily taken back to the world of the sexy AF Temple brothers and felt all the feels I did when I first read this story. And I fell for Wes & Trixie all over again. The narrators were perfect!

After reading Frat House Confessions: Ridge, I was definitely excited to be immersed back into the Delta world, this time focusing on Trixie and Wes. Wes is the middle Temple brother and has been considered a pushover, a Mama's Boy, too sweet, and also known as the guy who introduced a reporter into his fraternity life that ended up getting one of his brothers kicked out......

This book picks up a year after the first one and Trixie, the spitfire that she is, feels bad for how things went down with Wes. Wes also knows that he genuinely liked her, but knows that a girl like her would never seriously date a guy like him. But what if she could?

I loved sweet, shy, but sexy Wes and non-conforming Trixie, these two were intricate and interesting characters and I absolutely loved reading about their interactions. Wes might be my favorite Temple brother, which says a lot if you have read Ridge's story. All in all if you like NA romances where you are rooting for the shy but sweet guy gets his HEA- you 100% need to read this!

PS: Thank you to Bethany Lopez and Inkslinger PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly, I am such a fan of this series!

5 Wes is my man stars!!! I'm still fanning myself after reading this!

This is the first book I've read in this series, but now after reading this one I know I need to read the others! I was hooked from the first word! Bethany definitely knows what she's doing. She pulls you in the minute you start reading and you can't help but fall for the characters. Which is exactly what happened to me when I started reading this book! This is the first book from this author. Thou this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed the fact that the male and female lead roles are not the normal and would say swapped from the norm. It was a very welcome change having the female lead(Trixie) is the strong independent one going after what they want, no bluff and the male lead (Wes) is inexperience and many doubts. The character development aligns beautifully with the flow of this wonderful story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and will be looking to read Ridge’s story and the future books in this series.

Loving this series by Bethany! Another 5 star story with this one!
Wes, you'll remember him as Ridge's brother, and the one who brought the reporter, Trixie in unknowingly. She was there to blow the lid off the Frat house, and they convinced her to leave the frat out of it and center on one person, which she did.
Wes really liked her, could he have done something different?
Trixie realizes she likes Wes, but has she done too much to him and his frat to be forgiven and get a second chance? Read their story and find out!
I fell in love with Ridge, and Wes is right up there with him, get ready to swoon! Grab your copy asap!

I love second chance romances. You'd think after reading what feels like a million of them, I'd be over it. But the romantic in me believe that if you are meant to be, you will always find a way back to each other. Wes and Trixie are no exception. While Trixie made a tough decision to betray Wes ultimately, her feelings for him are to large to ignore. But will Wes forgive her? Will he be able to see past what she did to the person she is?

Bethany gripped me from the beginning. To the point that I needed to stay up as long as possible to get my answers to all of these questions. Gotta love second chances and page turners.

This is my first book by Bethany Lopez and I was so excited! I wasn't disappointed. Reading through this book took me back to my own college experience. Not that I was a Trixie in that I betrayed or purposely betrayed any of my friends in college but the awkward friendships and interactions took me back. Ms. Lopez did a great job at creating characters and situations that make you think back to your own time in college where you were trying to find and make a name for yourself. You can't help but be taken back in time with Frat House Confessions.

Five Stars for this YA. These two finally get their acts together. It takes it awhile but walls are smashed, feelings are strong and forgiveness goes a long way!!

I loved this story. I loved how Wes was the shy, inexperienced one. Watching him learn and explore with Trixie was so entertaining.

I absolutely enjoyed every single thing about this book.

Highly recommended.

Frat House Confessions: Wes. This is the second book in the series by Bethany Hamilton. This can be read as a stand-alone.

Wes is more of an inexperienced young male. Trixie has more experience than Wes does. Wes is a nice guy, he has his flaws but don’t we all?

Wes and Trixie have grown closer through this fraternity project.

Can Wes and Trixie put the past behind them and move on? Or will Wes hold onto a grudge and not forgive her? Will a second chance romance work for these two?

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving a honest review.

This was a thoroughly unputdownable read. The chemistry between the main characters is almost tangible it has you rooting for them right from the beginning. Trixie's mix of tenacity and vulnerability brings the entire story to life. And Wes... Bethany Lopez showed us all that sweet is the new sexy. Definitely in my top 5 releases this year.

We meet Wes in Frat House Confession: Ridge. Only time will tell if Wes gets his HEA. His story didn't end on a good note in book one. Will Wes and Trixie redeem themselves? You'll have to read Wes's story to get answers. I love the family bond between the brother's and we get to an update about the sister's. Still love them and love when Bethany gives us updates on the girls.

This is my first book by this author and even though is book 2 in a series, I didn't feel like I missed anything vital by not reading book 1, so justice was done by being able to read as a standalone.

The main characters of Wes and Trixie has a great connection, allowing us to see a great writing style by Bethany.

The secondary chatacters interlinked well and added a great story too it.

Wes and Trixie started out as friends. But after an article written by Trixie is published, their friendship becomes nonexistent. A chance encounter on campus has them wondering if their friendship is possible or are they destined for more? Earning trust is one thing, keeping it is something else entirely.
