“If it’s a barbarian you want, then it’s a barbarian you’ll get!”
Reclaimed by her noble family after being swapped at birth, Qin Yining is bestowed a hellish family instead. Just as she turns her situation around and gains acceptance, her country is plunged into danger instead.
Shades of gray color the world. No side is completely good, and no side is completely evil. Refusing to be a trophy won by men, Qin Yining carves her own path instead. In this absolutely riveting and spellbinding tale, what does our MC do when an entire dynasty is at stake?
It's a very very long book, consisting of about four volumes, i believe, each volume comprising of around hundred plus chapters. I am far from done with this book, but its already becoming my all time favorite book, owing to its unique story line and complex character building. This book is set in the ancient Chinese era and in the story the emphasis is given to multiple court intrigues and political situations. Though i am not a fan of political plots per se, but this book kept me captivated. The female protagonist is truly amazing and i can't gush enough about how no-nonsense and un-apologetically intelligent the writer made her to be. Truly one of my favorite female characters of all times. Cant wait to see where this story takes me as it progresses. Wish there was a movie adaptation of this story, would have been fun to watch.
I was absolutely caught off guard by this book & in a really good way. I was so not expecting this level of intricacy in the plot and such great character development with most of the side characters (and the main ones too of course) being fleshed out so well. Loved loved loved the MC and ML...they made such a great couple both being headstrong, righteous and extremely witty. And all the political shit..damnnn.. I almost never expected the twists (& trust me there's a shitload of them). Read it !!
This is the type of novel with enough details and intrigue that it can be made into a multiple series television drama. The main character’s are well described. The two characters of the main couple are principled, strong, loyal to each other, caring for others and righteous. The couple work independently in a crisis, come up with innovative solutions to deal with the antagonists and create enough fluffy moments pleasing to romantics.
The storyline was very detailed offering new tragedies and intrigue to keep a reader interested through most of this 1200+ chapters novel. The last 300 chapters dragged. The female lead character pranced all over the continent causing more issues than she solved. This detracted from the smart image of this character that was set up at the beginning of the novel. The ending was predictable without cliffhangers. My only disappointment was the annoying mother-in-law’s mouth was not sewn shut.🤐😁
