This is a great book! I’m pretty sure it was my sister who got it through the Scholastic book program (how I miss that!) when we were kids. The recipes were super easy to follow and we loved trying our hands at baking. It was the first time I’d ever heard of Snickerdoodles. My personal favorite was the recipe for Tiny Timmies. I so wish we’d had the foresight to hang on to that book, since I can’t remember any of the other cookies and it’s no longer available. I found the Tiny Timmies recipe online, though, so I’ll be making those for our cookie exchange!

A close friend of my grandma's ("Aunt" Aurelia) gave me this book when I was a child, about nine. It contains a cookie recipe for each month of the year, and many happy memories. As children, we made snickerdoodles, tiny timmies (pineapple cookies), peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and Christmas cookies. We sort of combined two recipes to make oatmeal-raisin cookies, too. Now, I have passed the book along to my own child in 5th grade, and we've already made several recipes together. Old fashioned recipes are the best.

A classic, child-friendly cookbook with one recipe for each month of the year. This was my very first cookbook! I got this when I was 10 years old and was beginning to bake things without any help. I remember the book was fun, and the recipes were simple easy to bake, and of course delicious. I especially liked the Snickerdoodle recipe. I don't have my copy anymore (lost many years ago) but I intend to get another copy somewhere if I can find it.

This is the very first cookbook I ever bought. I ordered it from Scholastic in the third grade, and I used it for a long time. Looking at the food coloring-stained pages for the July recipies (Three-Color Sugar Cookies) brought me right back to my kitchen, eating the dough before shaping the cookies. This book is a freaking time machine.

Happily, now that I am rereading it, these are pretty good recipies. I will make their chocolate chip cookies in the next few days!

There are different cookie for every month. This would be a fun activity to do on a monthly basis. Teaching cooking skills and also measurement or math skills. Think about using this.
