地球をきれいにするロボットたちが見なした最大の害悪が、人類だった――。

近未来。
ロボットに育てられた「ななちゃん」は、同じ境遇の天才科学者「八津くん」とともに研究生活を送っていた。ある日、死の病に侵されて八津くんは倒れる。ななちゃんは彼を救う治療法を開発するための時間を稼ぐために、コールドスリープを提案する。八津くんは自らが生み出したクローンたちとななちゃんを残して眠りにつく。目覚めると数十年後、八津くんの眼の前には年老いたななちゃんとさらに増えたクローンたちがいた。八津くんは手術によって救われたが、年老いたななちゃんの寿命は今にも尽きようとしていた。八津くんが眠っていた間に勃発した戦争で世界は荒廃し、兵器となったロボットやAIを人類は憎悪するようになっていた。ななちゃんは、残された命を地球を浄化するロボットの開発に捧げていた。そのロボットを生み出すことで、人間とAIを和解させようという夢を持っていたのだ。病床に臥せったななちゃんの側で、八津くんとクローンたちはその遺志を継ぐことを誓う……。

This one makes me cry every single time.
Although it's mainly about robots and cloned humans, each character passes on a part of themselves throughout every interaction and shows a growth of empathy and emotional intelligence. Ironically, in the war between robots and humans, the robots are the ones who take in a human (their enemy) and treat him sincerely, eventually planning to surrender due to their love for him. The humans, on the other hand, are the heartless characters of the story.
